I have made several trips to Redlands Grill and have never been disappointed. Our most recent trip was with a friend from out of town. She ordered the Caesar salad and raved about it. Their dressings are all homemade. She ate the Prime Rib and gave it two thumbs up. I had the filet. It melted in my mouth; perfectly seasoned with a nice crust on it. The only flaw this visit was that our waiter was unfamiliar with the menu. I was the one who discovered their dressings were house made. It said so right on the menu. What the heck is this? My fillet came out like a rock. Literally. Tough and charred on the outside but rare on the inside. (I asked for medium). I can enjoy a medium rare steak so that wasn't even the biggest issue. The biggest issue was the SEVERE lack of flavor and the toughness. I can't imagine the absolute lack of care it took to cook a fillet so terribly. It's kind of insulting. We ate at 5:15 pm on a Saturday evening, so it wasn't even that busy in the restaurant. Start with an appetizer. Our favorite is the spinach with cheese and chips made daily on the premises. Another out-of-this-world dish is the tuna stack with Hawaiian tuna, crab salad, avocado with Sriracha and unagi sauce, and tortilla chips. Slow down! The entrees are on the way. I enjoyed the grilled medallions of pork medium rare with their signature cured in-house cuts. Add Thai "Bang Bang" sauce and smashed potatoes. The flavor kick to the sauce is memorable. We also enjoyed the brassiere chicken, a thin cut with Panko-crusted, parmesan cheese, and a lemon caper sauce. With smashed potatoes and broccoli. Dessert was a decadent chocolate cake, five layers thick. Also, the carrot cake, moist and perfect, topped with a vanilla sauce that compliments the cake beautifully. Service is excellent. Went for a dinner outing and kicked off the night with the Spinach con Queso Appetizer which was delicious! & For our entrees we had the Ahi Tuna Filet & the Halibut with Crab. When I say we left no crumbs... compliments to the chéf!! Everything was cooked to perfection, we savored every bite. Outstanding food!! We have been coming here as one of our top go-to spots since it opened. We tend to sit at the bar- great service there and always a good crowd sitting at the bar. The food really is fantastic. I always get the stack burger no bun since I am keto --it's one of the best EVER smash burgers around. Their French fries are also really good as my husband is usually eating half of mine. Their tuna stack tower appetizer is EXCELLENT as is their spinach dip- to die for. Was completely disappointed! My husband wanted to surprise me with something different for our anniversary. I went online and read the dress code, but what we saw at the restaurant, that was a waste of time... T-shirts, baseball caps, sandals on men and more than one girl with their shorts that left little to the imagination. Ok for other places but when you charge the amount of money they do for their food I expect not to see that. And it just goes down hill from there... We saw our server a total of 4 times, other servers brought our food and helped with other issues. I could justify this if it was busy, but it was NOT, they had a whole section completely empty, and multiple empty tables in the section we were in. From the drinks to the food it was a MESS! My soda was FLAT but couldn't find our server, so I let it go. We ordered the Mexico City Spinach Con Queso(brought by someone else NOT our waiter), I had very little, I didn't want to "fill up" and not eat the meal. We had finish with the queso and waited for a while before our dinner order was taken. Then we waited... and waited... I ordered the burger medium well, it was plain to say the least. It had the normal fixings on it and WAY TOOO much mayo( I scraped enough off for another burger) BUT WORSE OF ALL IT WAS RAW! So raw that when the waitress(again couldn't find our waiter) said do you want me to have them just cook this one more or another one made, I said I didn't want it at all . She was very nice and said she would get me a menu so I can choose something else. BUT by the time we saw our waiter again to take the order my husband was just about done with his meal and seeing how it took FOREVER for us to get our food in the first place, I didn't order anything else. My husband finished eating(only about half) so we waited for a box, had to call over another server since again ours was NO where to be found. When he did come over and we asked for a check he asked if we wanted dessert, we said NO and then he kept pushing the carrot cake. Then asked my husband if he wanted a refill on his drink. At this point I was irritated. He finally brought the check and stood there waiting for the card, I told my husband to hand me the check, he rudely snapped" I took the burger off!!" I said calmly " I was just checking" .My husband handed the card, then asked me to finish it, he needed to go outside. He had to walk away he was so upset, which in 11 years I have NEVER seen him do. So I left this expensive restaurant STARVING!!! And a horrible anniversary dinner! My husband kept apologizing, he was only trying to do something nice for me. It's been a rough few weeks for us, we lost someone very important to us, and I had been out of town the last week, but rushed home for our anniversary. With just my husband's dinner and the queso, it still was just under the $100.00 mark( he only drank water)... Seems a bit much for the horrible experience. Do yourself the favor and find another restaurant to go to if you want a nice place, at this point we could've went across the street to 54th Street Bar and Grill, had a better experience, better food and spent a whole lot less! read more

Arianna was our waitress and she and the rest of the staff that was helping out did a great job. I had the house "Lemon Citrus Mojito" or something like that, with the "Ahi Tuna something" but all of it was delish!! I could've had 4 or 5 of those delicious Mojitos. For our app I ordered us the spinach and queso dip w/chips, which was also amazing. First, this is a basic chain eatery with an almost carbon copy of J Alexander's menu. Nothing exciting. Pedestrian food. Nicely designed dining room. Servers are young and inexperienced. We waited 23 minutes to have someone come to the table. The experience overall made me feel like I had wasted what could have been a great meal elsewhere. It's like eating at Cheesecake Factory... Decided to try this place out after I received a $100 certificate from work. The food and service was amazing and the price was only $9 over the $100. We paid and were about to leave when the manager came over to let us know the certificate only paid for food and non-alcoholic drinks. We had gotten $28 worth of drinks and had no problem paying for the drinks. I understood that I should have read the certificate but didn't like when the manager said they would have to take all the certificate even though we only ordered $80 worth of food. If I would have known or been offered we could have ordered dessert to get everything out of the gift certificate. About $20 worth of my certificate was wasted. The server was super nice and attentive, and again the food was great so that is why I am giving 4 stars. read more

Great food and experience! Ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich, came with thin fries that were hot and fresh and perfect. Had coleslaw on top that was not drenched in dressing (which I loathe), and the pickles were crisp. The bun was maybe brioche? It was soft and had a subtle flavor that complimented the hot chicken. The combined flavors of all the components made one heck of a chicken sandwich (though calling it this does not give it justice). Friend got the steak and fries and said it was equally great. Asked for ranch and it tasted homemade and very good. The carrot cake was hot and melty and life changing. I will periodically be thinking about this cake fondly probably forever. The chocolate cake was enormous. It was rich and fudgy and moist. The service was great. Our server was friendly and prompt. Food presentation was impeccable, and noticed all the other plates coming out the kitchen looked equally presentable and perfect. Looking forward to coming back and trying other items. read more

Service was excellent, ambiance great, but food was just ok for me. I think it's overrated for what we paid. Your lemon butter sauce is quite bitter. Your steak rolls soggy. You might try using a different wrapper. My husband had the red fish on special. It had a lemon butter sauce and again bitter. I had chicken that came with the same sauce and it wasn't any better. My sons had the fried chicken (tenders) platter and their food was better than ours. Their chocolate cake is definitely better than the carrot cake. I know they are part of J Alexanders holdings and they serve their signature carrot cake, but it wasn't the best. It was salty. I'm not sure why, but we barely touched it like we barely touched our 2 entrees. The chocolate cake was perfect!! I would go back for that. read more

We Stopped recently for heavy appetizers (aka dinner). Never realized this place existed since March- just so happens I was taking the road up to the Elian shops. Anyway- we thought why not? Well we should have really checked out the place / reviews first. It's an Alexander chain - so I generally wouldn't have even tried it- not a big fan of chains. Had a bubbly and a glass of Sav Blanc (Honig- need to remember to pick it up at H‑E‑B, it was very good). Wine list was okay- few bottles I couldn't pick up at H‑E‑B. Very limited beer selection. Food- had the grilled artichokes, fried shrimp, Mac & cheese, and the stacked raw tuna appetizer. Bar was more mature, really really mature- lots of Rolex & in Parking- lots land rovers. You get my drift. Back to the food- I found that most dishes lacked seasoning. The sauce was way too salty in certain sections- like they didn't mix it well. Husband liked the grilled flavor- I found it "ehhh". The stack dish was really flavor less, the crab salad that was one of the layers had nooo flavor. The chips that were provided - some of them were covered in salt other had none. The worst by far was the shrimp. On one hand you get lots of them ($17) on the other- the batter is thick and the shrimp were soft. I'd much rather wait for Monday's and eat them at the Flying Saucer. The only dish worth repeating is the Mac & cheese - and that was a SIDE! That was our experience. read more

To our surprise, there's no comp dessert and I even wrote on my reservation to make it special for my husband since it's his birthday....to my disappointment . This is our first time and unfortunately this will be our last because of this. Most of the upscale restaurants would do this but not this particular restaurant. It is so disappointing and annoying that you would expect they'll make it special for a customer especially on his birthday, that is, his 50th actually. Shame on them for being so cheap. One of my new favorite places! Very similar to J Alexanders of course but has its own vibe as well! Loved the atmosphere. Easy access and lots of parking. Great hostess as the door! Sat quickly. The wedge was amazing, you could tell the bacon was fresh and the dressing hand made. My cocktail was perfect, but I wish it was served with a napkin especially in the summer. My steak was right on point. It was a NY strip, ordered medium rare. Seasoned to perfection and the garlic butter perfect. Of course the baked potato was loaded and flavorful from the salt rub. My waitress was the sweetest and on it. A great experience! I will be back! One of my favorite spots now. read more

Went here tonight for an early Fathers Day dinner. The food is really good and the drinks are strong. Giving this a 4/5 simply because the lack of service from our waiter Michael.
