If you have all the time in the world for a restaurant to forget your drinks and food order, not just once, twice but multiple times, then this is a great place to waste your time. But after 45 mins you'll get pretty delicious food, that is, after reminding the waitstaff so much so that the mere sight of you and your kids irritate them. I heard from members of he UWS mommy group that this was a family/kid friendly restaurant especially during off peak hours. Jacob's Pickle is my favorite chicken spot in the world. I usually do a Sausage Gravy Smothered chicken sandwich with the Classic Mac and Cheese or the Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese. Everyone I know has been telling me to come here so I finally did it. Went here with a friend for Sunday brunch and we waited around 2 hours. We tried to fight for a seat at the bar, but everyone kept pushing their way past us, but that's ok, we decided to walk around. They finally texted us our table was ready and got seated in the back. We were starving at this point and started with the buffalo mac n cheese (no blue cheese) and the deviled eggs. These both were so so good. Deviled eggs may seem basic, but these were so light and fluffy. The mac n cheese was great and had a nice kick to it. Our entrees were the sausages smothered chicken biscuit and shrimp and grits. We visited Jacob's pickles twice in the past few weeks and the reason for the 4 star rating. We went for brunch about 2 weeks ago and it was a 5 star experience for sure. The banana chocolate pancakes and eggs my wife and I split were both fantastic. The biscuits with variety of spreads was also top notch so if the rating was based on the brunch it would have been 5 stars for sure. We revisited the other night with family for dinner and unfortunately not as good of an experience. Portions were very big but most options consisted of fried items and limited variety choices. Meatballs were very spicy and not anything I would return for. Burger was excellent as per my sister so that was a good option. I would stick to brunch and you will not be disappointed. read more

Amazing food - it's my go-to place to invite people to if I want to impress. The portions are incredible and so is the staff. On top of that, the choice of Tupperware is great and having such nicely-designed to-go bags makes it feel really classy. It's really nice to have a restaurant that has incredible food and is close to so much entertainment in the area! Everything on the menu is clearly lovingly crafted with high quality ingredients. Even the bacon bits are fresh and organic! The House-made BBQ sauce is incredible and its quality is indescribable. I've been tempted to ask where I could buy some. My only complaint is that the music is WAY too loud and all of my friends and my partner dislike and avoid coming with me after the first visit because of it. I used to hit this place everytime I visited New York, but my most recent visit almost made me not want to come back as often. One of my favorite Upper West Side spots! It's just really warm delicious comfort food. Somehow everything feels like home cooked meal. I've been here a handful of times for dinner and everything I've had as been delicious. They don't take reservations for parties smaller than 5 but I've had no trouble being seated with a smaller party pretty quickly. If you're a pickle lover like I am get an assortment of pickles in lieu of an appetizer. The 4 for $11 I think is the best deal. I highly recommend the special sours, sour green tomatoes, and sweet & spicy carrots. For only a couple people it's sure a lot of pickles but I took the leftovers to work and snacked on them for the rest of the week. For mains my go-to is the pepper jack bbq chicken sandwich. The chicken is some of the best I've had so you can't go wrong with any of the chicken sandwiches. While the grits the sandwiches come with is pretty good, I would sub them for the mashed potatoes & mushroom gravy which are so rich and creamy and wonderful. Holy Smokes! This was my first time eating at this place. I went on a Saturday with my wife and my 3 year old boy a few weeks ago. I had a gut feeling that I would have to wait for quite some time. But after speaking with one of the hostess she told me that my wait would only be about 30min. After about 25 min I got a text saying that my table would be ready soon. There is a toy store across the street called City Kids, if you want to kill some time you can brings your kids there. After we were seated we placed our order, I don't recall the names but the fish tacos we had were delicious. I also ordered the Biscuit and fried chicken that was the first item on the menu. Now that I must say was an excellent dish. My wife ordered the chicken and pancakes and I thought the pancakes as big as they were they would be extremely dry, but I was wrong. Even when I bought it home and ate it the next day it was still delicious. The pickles are all good. We tried the carrots it paired really well with our food and drinks. Make sure not to get the same pickles that comes with some dishes, so you can try everything. The only negative about this place is that it takes forever to flag a server down to pay the bill when it's busy as well as to get someone to take your order. But, let's talk about the chicken. The exterior is salty, crispy, crunchy, yet never greasy and oily. The inside - luscious, soft, and tender. Each dish is seasoned to perfection, and I'm pretty sure I could die happily in a bed of their Buttermilk Fried Chicken Caesar - a perfect orchestra of rich romaine lettuce, cheesy croutons, a generous heaping of fried chicken, and a tart, tangy dressing. Wait! There's more. The macaroni and cheese truly defies logic. Try it. You won't be disappointed. The restaurant is lovely on the inside - rustic chic with exposed brick, twinkle lights, and a bangin' playlist The service is quick, and waiters are more than happy to share their favorite dishes. Being asian, I love all kinds of pickled dishes. But the pickle sampler just felt inedible as the amount of vinegar was so powerful, I couldn't taste the veggie I was eating. If that is how pickled veggies are supposed to taste like, maybe I don't like pickles after all. You know, every once and again, you find a place that is an instant hit. Well, the fact of the matter is, I didn't find this place but I wish I had. The staff greeted me with a warm smile and directed me to the back where my friends were seated. After being seated, I was quickly served all the particulars like water and a menu. The waitress that served us was excellent. In fact, the staff that served all around us was amazing. Our waitress explained in great detail, all the wonderful option I had before me on the menu. She was was very patient and attentive. Naturally pickles would be apart of the food choices but there were many more options and the portions were just right; not to mention the biscuits served with maple butter and other traditional toppings. I ordered the shrimp and grits and my friend ordered things like pancakes topped with bacon and burgers. The best shrimp and grits I have EVER - EVER EVER - tasted. I must admit, what everyone else in the group ordered, looked equally as amazing and delicious. I didn't have the chance to even try dessert because my main course was extremely filling. However the birthday boy was served something that looked like a love boat apple cobbler with generous vanilla ice cream scoops that would put any birthday cake to shame. The only issue I had was with the lighting, I could hardly read my menu and the tea candles on the table didn't quite do it. Sunday Brunch of Champions! My wife keeps Kosher so when she saw that Jacob's Pickles had mushroom gravy and not just sausage gravy, she started salivating. First off, the coffee was delicious and our fantastic waitress, Krista, made sure our cups were never empty. We started with the pickled fall vegetables and pickled eggs. The eggs were a little disappointing. Tasted like hard boiled eggs that were sitting in pickle juice for a little while. The fall vegetables, on the other hand, were fantastic. Pumpkin, butternut squash and corn were perfectly pickled. Main courses were biscuit, egg and mushroom gravy for my wife and chicken, sausage gravy and biscuit for me. Her eggs were a perfect over easy. My wife made me look at the color of the yolk, which was a deep orange and beautiful. She loved it! Mine was perfect.
