Popular dimsum restaurant in Seattle's Chinatown/International District area. Mid to smallish restaurant on the corner of 7th Ave S and S King St. Not much in the way of decor. Heard that this place had the best dimsum in Seattle so came to check it out. On weekends and holidays this place is absolutely packed, with a line out the door. Best to get a reservation and also start early (before 11 am), or you might end up waiting in the rain. They do the traditional style dimsum service with the push carts. Customers look at what's in the cart and order the ones they like. Their variety is not the biggest, and particularly they don't have that many sweet items. The ones they do have are pretty solid though. The shumai, shrimp dumplings, rib bits on bean sauce etc. have the right taste. Also tried their congee and it was decent. It's the best dimsum I've had in Seattle thus far. You can get better dimsum by driving 2 hours north to Vancouver, but Jade Garden is pretty solid. I am so happy Jade Garden is open for takeout and delivery during these times! The taste and price of their dim sum is unbeatable. I know some of the old reviews contrast what I think, but they have gotten MUCH better over the years. If you're unsure what to get, check out their awesome photos on instagram - they are also doing lunch bentos if you can't decide what to get. Whenever I go in for my pickup order, it is always busy which is a good sign. The staff is very hard-working. My tip to avoid the wait is to make an order on the phone first and pick it up later when it is ready. I appreciate that their dim sum has a good meat to carb ratio. Some places lack filling and/or quality, but not here! My favorite things to get are the large shrimp steamed dumplings (and the fried version called "josh special" YUM), honey bbq pork pie, all the rolled rice noodles, chicken feet, shu-mai, and mini egg-tarts. We love coming in on the weekend to pick up a large order for the family. We recently tried the sticky fried rice with chinese sausage, shrimp, and mushroom and that was delicious as well. I've been a patron of Jade Garden for years. I didn't really care much about service in the past because Jade is the spot for dim sum in Seattle. However, after my most recent experience, I will no longer be a customer of Jade Garden. We found a rock inside our order of shrimp dumplings. After bringing this to the attention of the staff, they blamed their suppliers and said "other customers had this issue to". That doesn't help. They then tried to give us another order of shrimp dumplings - why would I want to eat more rocks? In the end, they gave us 50% off the order, but were still pointing fingers. We are from Alaska and had a family dinner here on 9/10/22. First, let me say that my wife and I love Chinese food. The windows are still boarded which gives a bit of a depressed look. That is where the negative ends. We ordered the walnut shrimp which was out of this world. That was followed by the fried squid. This was the best that I have eaten. It had crunchy breading that was seasoned perfectly but the squid was moist and tender. Next there was the Mongolian beef. Allison can say here is it was the best. Seasoned properly and the beef was soft and tasty. The dimsum was a good size meaty , soft and delicious. The last it was the hot and sour soup. This was the very best that I have ever had. There was more then enough vegetables, the broth was light. I have mostly had thick broths and this one was not heavy. It was outstanding. So I've been going to weekend dim sum at Jade Garden for years and love the place. We only recently got their takeout dim sim during the pandemic. While the take out experience isn't quite as good as what it is like in-person, it's close enough and feeds my dim sum cravings. First off, we got the Salt Pepper Pork Chops entree. SO GOOD. this was definitely a highlight. the pork was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. It comes with a great dipping sauce. We also got the stir fried baby bok choy which was good but a bit soggy (could be due to having it as take out). Our favorite dim sum orders were the Pan Fried Shrimp and Chives Dumpling, the golden fried Football dumpling and bake bbq pork bun. Highly recommend all three! I went in around 6pm on a Tuesday. The outside of the building is boarded up with plywood to protect the glass windows/doors, presumably due to fears of targeted anti-Asian sentiment. The interior felt dim and perhaps a bit stuffy, with dated decor and wallpaper, but it was clean for what I saw. I was seated quickly and was brought hot tea right away. I hadn't eaten dim sum in quite some time so I was slow to order, so the waitress came to direct me in the right direction. I felt a little rushed even though they had about an hour and a half before close. It wasn't too crowded or busy, however it was only 2-3 servers managing the restaurant and takeout orders which made it seem that much busier. The order came within less than 15 minutes, the dim sum steamers and plates crowding the table, even though I had not ordered that many dishes. The hot oil/sambal condiment was delicious, with almost a sweet tomato like flavor. I doused all my dim sum with it, which made the meal more enjoyable. I ordered 5 dishes; the Pan Fried Radish Cake, Pan Fried Pork Potstickers, Pork Shui Mai with Chinese Mushroom, Scallop and Shrimp Dumplings, and the Shrimps with Bean Curd Roll. The best items were the Pan Fried Pork Potstickers and the Pork Shui Mai which surprised me since I don't normally like Shui Mai. The Scallop and Shrimp Dumplings were also very good, with large shrimp (about 2 per dumpling) and chunks of scallops, but the wrapper was a bit too gummy and fell apart pretty easily. My least favorite were the Pan Fried Radish Cakes and the Shrimps with Bean Curd Roll. I wished the Radish Cakes had a bit more crust to make the contrast between chewy and crispy more prominent; without that, the cakes were very gummy and hard to swallow without tea. The Shrimps with Bean Curd Rolls were good, with large chunks of shrimp and vegetables, but the size was a bit too big and the leftovers were not as pleasant to eat as the outside bean curd got cold and hard. To address the 3.5% credit card fee, I believe that it is still in practice, however, I did not get an itemized receipt so I can't be sure. My food total is only $25.40 USD not including tax so I am not sure what the difference in price is caused by. Perhaps it's the tea or some other fee, but as long as you know of this in advance, I don't see is as an issue personally. Overall, I had a decent experience here and i do believe that it is a place to at least try once. The dim sum is decent and supporting an Asian restaurant such as this whose been a cornerstone in the ID is something worthwhile. They have many other awesome dim-sum and larger entree style meals. I love their shumai; I think it might be the best shumai I have had in my life. Last time we went here was maybe 3-4 years ago? Came back today and it was just as good as last time. They use a online ordering system now where you scan QR code and order on your phone, great system, very efficient and i'm sure the people working there like it much better too =). The food came fast too and it was hot. We ordered 7 dishes (siu mai, ha gao, chicken feet, ja leung, cheung fun, egg tart, lo mai gai) and everything was pretty good (and this is coming from my parents who grew up in Hong Kong, obviously not as good as Hong Kong but it's good dim sum for Seattle). Called in on a weekend afternoon and they said they are done with after rush hour. So I walked in but they were still quite busy. I had to share a big table with 2 other families which can be ridiculous to some people but I came here for the food, not the experience. The first one was just a single shrimp inside, the sauce was very salty and it wasn't hot. 1/5 The second was the steamed rice roll with 3 types of mushroom(enoki, wood ear and crimini) which was surprisingly better with the sauces not being too salty and the food was nice and hot. 5/5 The family who shared a table with me complained to the waitress about getting the wrong food and how the food they actually ordered never came. Another family had to cancel one of their orders because it just never came. I can sense the lack of consistency in their food and lack of accuracy in their system/routine even though I didn't order a lot of food. When it comes to a busy restaurant you really want to prioritize and they failed doing so. I am confident to say my shrimp dish was cold because someone cancelled it earlier and they quickly warmed it up and served it to me. I can see the steamed rice roll on the shrimp dish has already absorbed the soy sauce and is beginning to fall apart.
