this place is a sketchy hole in the wall with AMAZING food, portions, and staff! my favorite hidden spot

We first discovered this place because my wife saw the game hen on a delivery app, and said, "We should try them." So we did. Yum! So far, I've tried the Black Pepper Beef, the Chicken with Cashew Nut, and the Szechuan Beef. All have been outstanding, both in my opinion, and in my wife's (who tasted them all). She got the game hen three times running, and has found it perfect every time. Roasted tender with just the veriest hint of Five Star Powder. So much deliciousness! I will say that the egg rolls were so-so, and the Crab Cheese Wontons were doughy, but that might be a result of having them delivered. Speaking of delivery, do plan on it taking at least an hour to get your food, especially during busy hours. But a) it is SOOO worth it, and b) the fact that they are open until 11pm (Midnight Fri/Sat) is a huge win (if you eat late dinners, which we often do). So to sum up, delivery is kinda slow, but the food is excellent. We haven't tried dine-in or take-out, so your mileage may vary. read more

Meh, is right. There is better out there, but since this is the only place open super late, it was kinda a default "lemme try it and see what it's like" kind of decision. They nailed the fried rice, spot on... but their General Tso's chicken and S&S chicken were definitely something to be desired. The food did not taste bad, but the consistency of the fried chicken portion of the meal was soggy and not exceptional. I would definitely go back for more fried rice if I have a craving late at night, but nothing else. The other reviews are spot on. This is a BAR, not a restaurant... it just happens to have a kitchen and super kind asian folks that make food for the bar-goers. I was craving Chinese food, but didn't have the motivation to go out to my favorite place in the U-District. So for the first time since I've lived in Seattle, I decided to try for delivery. Why did I choose Jade Restaurant? Because the Yelp reviews were decent and they let me order online. I got the sweet & sour pork, chicken chow mein, mixed vegetables and some egg rolls. The pork was a bit soggy, but that was likely due to the time it takes to deliver - not a big deal in my book. The chow mein was super tasty. The vegetables were basic, snow peas and broccoli were crisp and still had some bite to them, but there wasn't much flavor - but I think that's on me, expecting them to have some sort of light sauce with them. The only real minus was the egg rolls - they were really chewy, like they were a bit over cooked. It definitely didn't overtake my favorite Chinese spot, but I will definitely be back. read more

I stopped in here on a Saturday afternoon while I had some time to kill while waiting for a friend. I was the only one in the place and ordered a Mac n Jack's from my perch at the bar. One flat screen was playing a Japanese Sci-Fi fantasy/adventure film while the other t.v. played an action packed Bollywood extravaganza. Huey Lewis was rocking (popping) his 80's ass off in the background. This was all a bit distracting trying to discern one film from the other while the kitchen crew chatted loudly during their food prep. A few single dudes would pop in from time to time for take out food or to guzzle a quick beer at the bar. They probably had a few minutes before their bus or maybe their temporary lady friend was busy with another client. I have no idea what the food tastes like and it may or may not be edible but the beer is cold and the service was prompt and friendly. Take a chance on going there on Friday which is their busiest with music thumping throughout the night. There is a lower level area with several pool tables and the place is probably pretty fun if you are looking for some greasy Chinese food and a good stiff drink. read more

Very fast delivery. Very small delivery fee. Food has always been very good and still hot. We got two free bowls of soup also and also two free spring rolls on our second order! We had take-out from Jade about a week or two ago and everything was hot, delicious and pretty inexpensive. The general tsao's chicken was really well prepared, although I wish it was a bit spicier, but it least it wasn't overly sweet, and the chicken itself was tender and not too intensely breaded. The fried rice was also good, and though I didn't have any, the wonton soup got a thumbs up from my roommate. All in all, another perfectly viable option for Asian take-out/delivery in the Greenwood area! read more

Entering through the haphazardly marked side door, the scene inside has to be seen to be believed. Equal parts merengue discotheque and grimy Chinese restaurant, never before had I been compelled to shout "GENERAL TSAO'S CHICKEN!!" over a heavy club beat. One half of the establishment is a restaurant, complete with an open kitchen and a spry old man shuffling about preparing the meals. Though the service was kind and quick, the food inspired a lively debate over what the chicken and beef were actually made of, and the soup couldn't be choked down. The other half of the building helped divert attention from the inadequate fare - an open dance floor, complete with blaring reggaeton (the waitress had to cover her ears), lasers, and strobe lights. Evidently the party starts late, because as of 8:30 on a Saturday night the dance floor was populated entirely by seemingly bored or confused men (possible Jade employees) who were intent upon testing the upper limits of the sound system. "This would be perfect if there was a fog machine," opined my friend. Sure enough, ten minutes later, a jet of smoke shot through the lasers, and a group of fierce-looking Latinas strutted into the room, announcing what would surely be a memorable evening. Sadly, we didn't stick around, subdued by headaches from the music and bears fighting in our stomachs. The second star is for the sheer absurdity of the evening. read more

The worst Chinese food in all of 10 years in Seattle, living and eating in different neighborhoods. When we called to complain, they just got angry and yelled at us. Gelatinous, bland, greasy, greasy, over cooked, no filling in the spring rolls. We could not decide which of 4 dishes (Mongolian beef, shrimp lo mein, shrimp & broccoli, egg rolls) plus white rice was the worst. Deserves not one star, not only for the food but also for the customer service. A complete waste of $60. read more

No complaints, we didn't get delivery we went into the restaurant to pick up our food and took it home. The server was nice and helpful, very willing to answer our questions. We ordered sweet and sour chicken and curry chicken. The sweet and sour chicken is tangy without being overly sweet, and the curry is a yellow curry with just a mild amount of spice. The combos came with a fried shrimp and egg roll both where crisp and tasty. The fried rice I could eat for a week and not be sick of. My only small complaint is the egg flower soup needed some salt. Yes this place looks old and the kitchen is messy but like all good grungy hole in the wall places it serves good food. read more

We ordered from here via Grub Hub for dinner tonight. We ordered 4 dinners that each came with soup, rice, shrimp, egg roll, & an entree and an appetizer & the bill including tax and delivery and tip was less than $50. Delivery came in less than 30 mins piping hot too like it just came off the stove. The portions were huge & food was fresh. After reading past reviews, I'm guessing they fixed all the past issues. Glad we gave this place a chance because my family ate well tonight! read more

It's very cheap delivery for a reason. This is the worst delivery Chinese I've ever had. And I am not super picky, I eat Safeway Chinese food. I got the sweet and sour pork which was mushy and flavorless with fried rice again no flavor and honey walnut prawns which is one of my favorite things and they some how made it devoid of even shrimp flavor. I do not recommend this place at all. I couldn't even take more than 2 bites of each dish. It was that bad. I don't give bad reviews. So this really goes to show how much I disliked it. read more

AMAZING customer service. Truly go so above and beyond I am so grateful. I work in the restaurant industry and ordered delivery through door dash on my way home from work, the driver never showed up to Jade and they took the time to call me, cancel my order through doordash for me and on top of that deliver my order to me. By the time that I'd realized that Jade waS about to close and my delivery from doordash was not going to arrive, everything else had closed near me... BUT they delivered the food themselves, which actually meant the difference between me eating tonight or not since grocery stores were also closed (and I'm so tired I would have just not eaten vs cooking the little food I have on hand.) I'm so grateful for their wonderful customer service, it not only made my night but my week. Truly a great restaurant that loves their customers and has great food. People are surprisingly harsh on this place. I have ordered food from here and while the delivery is very slow, it has been quality food. The Orange Beef was pretty disgusting, but the snow pea chicken was delicious, and the eggrolls were probably the best I have tasted locally in a long time - the wontons were also great. This place is near my house and they deliver, so my husband and I thought we'd go in and check out the food. This is the creepiest restaurant I've ever seen. There was a homeless guy camped out by the front door asking for money while drinking some type of alcohol out of a bag. When we walked in we were greeted by a strange man scowling and making awful noises that sounded like grunting. Then we were seated next to a speaker in an empty room and the place had the feel of the hotel in "The Shining." The only other person in the building was someone who looked like a strung out prostitute. The waitress took a drink order for one of us and completely ignored the other. The menu looked pretty standard, if slightly pricey, but the vibe was just too creepy. We ran for the car and didn't look back. Needless to say, we did not actually try the food, so who knows? Maybe it is fantastic and we missed out. Somehow I don't think so though. read more

My favorite Chinese restaurant near my house, SUPER TASTY. I always get the food to go. The only place I like better is Snappy Dragon but they are more expensive. I only limit myself here when I'm trying to watch my waistline :-) A little-known fact is that you can rent this place out for parties - have some DJ friends play some music and you can have a rockin party on the cheap, with great food! read more

Very pleasantly surprised, food was delicious and portions were big. The sauce already comes on foods like sweet and sour pork but I was surprised to find it wasn't soggy. However if you were going to be waiting a bit to eat it might be worth ordering the sauce on the side. We will definitely be ordering from the restaurant again. read more

I ordered the Assorted seafood with vegetables, Szechuan Style Chicken, Hot Garlic Salt Prawns and Mandarin Chicken Wings. The wings were heavily breaded and fried, and sweet rather than spicy. The seafood dish was bland. The chicken was okay. The prawns were good - definitely worth trying - spicy and well flavoured. They had a light batter though which made it hard to get to the meat. Maybe one is supposed to eat the shell? I didn't, but that was the best dish. A lot of the dishes on their menu look like they have a heavy batter (and then fried). I love greasy Chinese good, but the delivery SUCKS. I had to wait almost 2 hours. After the first hour I called and they said they had just left and would be there "any minute". 30 minutes passed and I called again. They told me they had gotten "super busy" and my food would be there soon because the driver had left 20 minutes ago with several other deliveries. The food is superb! My neighbors and I ate here for the first time last night, and I must recommend the crab-cheese fried wontons (which grandma was making from scratch while we were eating) eggrolls were the best I've ever had and the deep fried prawns were like little yummy pillows. Mostly all hand made by gram/gramps from China. I was skeptical, being on Aurora and whatnot, but had to write this review for people that are looking for a real food experience. The restrooms were horrible, and I am very sad for that...But that can be fixed!!!! The food on the other hand was exceptional, I will be back for sure. read more

I've had better. They deliver to where I'm at AND they had Almond Fried Chicken and essentially crab rangoon. I got the food in about the time frame they predicted. That was great. After that, I was quite disappointed. The Fried Wontons that had the crab and cream cheese filling...the fried wonton itself tasted fishy, like they fry fish in the same oil. The Almond Fried Chicken was bland and over-breaded and I sadly found myself questioning the quality of the chicken. Some pieces seemed fine, other pieces just seemed gross. I have chow mein for lunches for the next couple of days, and it worries me. It smells odd, like it's sweet. They left the water chestnuts out it appears, but it has an odd coloration to it that seems reddish to me. Or orangish. That could well just be the sheer amount of shaved carrot I see in it. Hard to tell. *sigh* I really had hoped that it would be of at least equal quality as some other places of similar price range. I am sad that I did not find it so. I am writing this only because all the negative reviews really surprised me. We order delivery about twice a month and have never had a problem. We get Chow Mein, egg fu young, garlic chicken, and tofu depending on our mood. Never a bad experience. I never have been inside so I can't speak for the cleanliness or wait service. Ordering by phone can be a challenge sometimes I suggest Eat24. If you want the best Chinese food in Seattle you need to head to the International district. read more

Food quality excellent. Not sure how they delivered prawns w/ peapods to my door in a perfect state of done-ness, but it happened. Peapods not overcooked. Bright green and still crunchy. Prawns not rubbery and not underdone. And it came quickly. Other two entrees also top-notch. read more

Dont waste your time. There is plenty of other Chinese joints that deliver around this area that are much better. We have ordered from here several times and it has always been at best mediocre food with below average service. Recently we ordered 2 dishes around 7:00PM and then waited over 2 hours for food. When we got it, it was nearly cold. They failed to include any plastic ware, tho this typically is 50-50 with them. Upon eating a portion of our dinners we both came to the same conclusion... This food was so over cooked, drowned in sauces and then left out in the open for a long period of time making it an almost slurry of bad flavors. Needless to say we will never order from them again. I would strongly encourage others to not order from them either, unless you want to wait far too long for sub par and possibly uneatable food. read more
