I love this place! I've been here so many times. As a seafood lover, this is one of my favorites place for seafood BBQ. Everything is so fresh and delicious. Service is very fast and friendly. They do come from times to times and help you cook. We often get either combo C or combo D. They had this cold seafood soup that I really like. The combo might look small but they do give you noodle soup at the end. Try to order less so you won't end up wasting fresh seafood.. Out of everything I didn't really like the lobster. The menu is simple because there are basically only 3 sets to order from (A, B, or C - - depending on the number of people in your group). A C set generally feeds a group of 5-6 when I go. The C set has a fantastic variety, including clams, oysters, eel, giant clams, sweet potato, ceviche, and a giant pot of udon. The wait can get long because this is a small shop. However, it is a great place to have a sit down lunch with a few friends. The soju is also inexpensive at $6 a bottle (if i remember correctly). Anyway I would highly recommend to come at least with 2-3 people to share all the seafood that's served in their combo options . I choose the cheapest combo for $69.99 which is unheard of for me to pay to have dinner , but it came with plenty of clams and oysters to enjoy . By the time the noodle soup at the end came , I had no more room, which was a shame . They have valet for $3, make sure you tip them well because $3 is nonsense for valet. Banchan are okay. I am a fan simply because this place will fill you up, while looking like a boss eating a huge platter full of seafood. Let us get the basics out of the way. Bring cash for a "discount." Wear the glove to help you pick up the hot shells. It is hot in there. It is overwhelming, bring more than 4 people if you want to eat all the carbs in the end. Odds are, you will not finish every last parcel of food because the noodles, potatoes, hag fish, and octopus in the end is overwhelming. Now the important part. For 106 including tax, you will get the larger, more seafood-y stuff. The abalone (if you are Chinese then you will be, like me, shocked at the appearance of abalone in this platter!) is awesome. For $100 (pay in cash, if not , add $5) you get a huge platter of seafood- predominantly shellfish, a platter of octopus and some kind of fish (leans more towards eel), and a noodle broth. Really cool because they bring out coals and you grill your food on top of it :D There are manila clams, scallops ( of many friggin sizes, some are so itttttttty bitty that its cute. it's made into a soup though), shrimp, oyster, yam/sweet potato, noodles, and mussel. Appetizers were also unlimited. We were so full we couldn't even finish the yam. hooray for food coma! I think I would've liked to eat more seafood though. 100% must go if you like fresh seafood in LA. First time here and will be back whenever I visit. Their menu is great for big groups and taste so fresh. Bring at least 4 friends to share all the food. Sometimes your eyes are bigger than your mouth, so I recommend ordering a little less than what you think you can eat. (Near the end, my order came with noodles and soup to fill you up). Just order something else later if you're still hungry. They have those table grills where everything is heated in front of you so it may get a bit hot. They also give you gloves for everyone so you don't burn yourself. Seating and parking may be a bit small and crowded but worth getting a table. This my favorite go to place in LA. I had to eat this place when I visited in LA. Stopped by for Christmas dinner with friends this time. I always had a great experience here and this time too. This place was pretty busy around 7-9pm. We waited almost 30mins and they didn't have tables for seven people from busy so they put two tables together for us. We ordered food immediately after sats. We ordered D combo menu and one soju, one beer and 2coke. They're always friendly and this time they're not served well cuz so busy. Food was good as before and my friend took care our clams or oysters or other foods for us and I thinking she's working at this place, not a customer. It was bad for us. The good. The seafood seems fresh with live abalone and for combo C it was plentiful for 4 adults and had good variety. The bad. Ambiance and setting. There was no air conditioning or a fan. The overhead fans over the grill don't work or are not effective so it is hot and stuffy especially with smoldering charcoal briquets just inches from you. The so so. Service which I don't expect it to be good at most Korean restaurants but this was really borderline rude. We got water at the end after asking 4 times. The last thing I want to do on a sweltering hot day in LA is sit indoor by a hot grill. Luckily, this outing came on a much cooler evening last month. The quality of the seafood here is average and really, this is a feast best enjoyed with a group, but do leave the folks who don't like looking at shrimp heads or squid tentacles at home. Five of us shared the COMBO C. You start off with various side dishes like green onion pancake, creamed corn and steamed egg (and I think the ice sashimi bowl came as part of this because I don't remember seeing it as a separate charge on the bill). Then a very large tray of assorted seafood is brought out, including large clams, oysters, shrimp, langouste, mussels, scallops, ork shells, abalone, squid and conch, plus you get a sweet potato and a potato each wrapped in foil for heating on the grill. A couple of different servers kept coming by to place items on the grill, flip, turn, shuck, etc. Sometimes they didn't come around so we'd take care of cooking. Pay attention so the seafood doesn't get overcooked! There are a couple of dipping sauces you can use (I didn't) or you can eat your seafood feast simply grilled. You get a glove to wear on one hand so you can hold the items hot off the grill, while you pull away the meat. Believe me, it really comes in handy. There are also aprons available if you're particularly messy, but you'll have to ask for one. The meal ends with some noodles that are cooked in a light broth in a large pan brought out and placed on the grill. The noodles were my favorite part, along with the steamed egg and sweet potato! The seafood was okay. It was fun to eat with a group and a good value for everything you get. Went here on a Monday night, so the wait wasn't so bad, 15-20 min. The restaurant's quite small and the ventilation was not that great, so it felt a tad bit hard to breathe. Came here last Sunday. This place gets really busy. We had to wait about 30-40 minutes to be seated since this restaurant is small. Came here with 2 other people and we ordered Combo B. $69.99 I was so full when I left the restaurant. Combo B can feed about 4 people. We had 3 people total (2 guys, 1 gal) and we had too much food. You can ask for an apron and they give you 1 glove so you can touch the shellfish without burning your fingers. I did however LOVE their Korean style ceviche with spicy soup +sashimi. When I lived in Korea, I'd travel with my friends to towns on the seaside to grill fresh scallops, clams, and oysters. When I heard there was a restaurant in LA that recreated this experience, I couldn't wait to try it. Overall, I was impressed with the experience. While the prices are way more than what you would find in Korea (aka dirt cheap), they certainly aren't exorbitant. Six of us shared the C platter and were more than stuffed by the end. Bring cash, and you get $5 off; which meant that food and drinks averaged out to $25/person...LOVE IT. The experience starts with a little old lady running with a flaming brazier to your table, where she'll light the grill and place various potatoes and sweet potatoes on the coals to roast as you feast on seafood. You get gloves to wear so that you don't burn your fingers when handling the shells of the seafood. The C platter comes with so many clams! Like 50, also 2 lobsters, 2 abalone, baby octopus marinated in gochujang (so good!), eel, huge clams, scallops, shrimps, oysters, you name it! I felt like a renaissance king, haha. For starters you get Korean style ceviche, seafood marinated in a sweet and spicy vinegar sauce. As for side dishes, you get a seafood pancake, egg pudding, and cheese corn. (This cheese corn is a little bit different than you might find in bars, namely that it's cream cheese on top.) The eels came out after the first big platter and to be honest, they look a little scary! Slimy, long and tentacular, even I was a little put off by the visuals. However, ever the hungry monster and fearless champion of gross food everywhere, I ate that eel and dammit it was delicious. If you've had Korean BBQ and ordered intestine, you'll know the texture of the fish. It was actually quite tasty, so don't be scared off! The meal finished with a pot of kalgoosoo in a rich clam broth. If you aren't stuffed by this point, never fear, there are still the roasting potatoes to munch on. Although the platter came with two lobsters, they definitely weren't the stars of the meal. They did not seem to be that fresh, and if you leave them on the grill for too long they start to get dry. The shining stars of this meal were definitely the scallops, the eels, and the baby octopi. There is valet in front, and while there is street parking, even on non-weekend nights, close spots can be sparse. Don't try and wear anything fancy to this resto, you'll leave smelling like a fireplace. But who cares when you can feast like a king! read more

It was fairly tasty with the scallop soup being the standout for me. However, I am knocking down a couple stars for slow service and hygiene. The tables and chairs were oily and not wiped down completely. There were buckets of dirty plates strewn everywhere, and while I understand their staff may not get to it right away, it was still odd standing in line for the bathroom uncomfortably cramped up next to those dirty plates. I don't know if it's because it was later at night, but even after the table behind us left, they didn't bus it for at least a good half hour. This was a good first experience for me with the seafood grill. What I took from this experience was to always use the gloves and always keep an eye on the grill, they cook quick. It was not a busy night so we were seated right away and the service was good. They also have outdoors seating which would have been preferable had I noticed it early on. To help with the smell and all. I liked the refill-able mayo corn, veggie pancake, steamed egg, and side dishes. I enjoyed their sashimi ceviche appetizer and huge pot of anchovy noodle soup at the end. The seafood is all fresh and delish. With all the extras that came with the seafood combo we ordered I definitely did not go home hungry. Really great place to have grilled Korean seafood. My friends tell me that they eat like this in Korea when it is cold outside. I was brought here once by one of our religious leaders and then I came back another time with my friends. I made sure on the second time to come around 5:45 pm to nab a table because this place gets crowded quick and it is very popular. I waited almost 45 minutes to get in the first time I came when I came around 6:30 pm. I would say the wait time is the only negative (which is the only reason why I give the place four stars), but it is still worth the wait for the amount of food you get and the quality of ingredients. I've been here about 3/4 times and it's always a good visit. The seafood isn't the "best", but it's cooked right in front of you and you know what comes in your combo order. They have clams, oysters, octopus, scallops, fish, super clams, and etc. On average, I think the Combo A is perfect for 3 girls. Faaaaaack! Seafood KBBQ! Do I even need to say more? *sigh* Fine! I seent this place from a video on the interwebs (youtubes maybe?) and sent it over to my cousin and food travel partner. She said let's go! She was finna be in LBC for work and had a hotel anyways. I said bet and flew down to meet up with her. I crashed at her hotel for the weekend and this was Sunday night's main event. It took is about 45 min to drive up here (LA, why you got traffic so late on a Sunday night still? WHY?!) but it was worth it. The restaurant is in a super small strip mall looking building. It was pretty busy when we walked in but our wait for the 2 of us was only about 10min. They sat us "outside" under an awning, surrounded by a brick wall topped with a wrought iron spike railing. Very medieval feel. We ordered the "combo C" as it had just about everything and some soju to wash that seafood down. They come back with a couple gloves (one for each of us), the usual weaponry (shears, tongs, bowls for shells), and after about 15 min, all our seafood on a big ol' platter. The staff drops stuff on charcoal grill and tells us rudimentary instructions ("once clams open, it's ready"). We dig into the mountain of a sea feast before us. After a few minutes, I realize that combo C was probably meant for 4 people...oh well, this is happening now so be at peace with it is what i told my stomach. The charcoal grill cooks everything really fast because it's so flippin' hot. So hot in fact I managed to burn my thumb despite wearing a glove (worth it). There's none of the usual banchan sides besides the kimchi. You do however get some pajeon, steamed egg, and corn cheese. We progressed pretty admirably through the smorgasbord that included clams (manila and some giant ass clam the size of my fist), abalone, prawns, scallop, oysters, and hagfish (this is new one for me, tasty but texture was strange but it grows on you). The only item not fresh was the lobster. I think it had died because they have a live seafood tank by the door. The finale is a plain looking noodle that they put on top of the grill at the end. Plain looking but not plain tasting. It was heavy with the white pepper in the broth but not in a bad way. The noodles were a great way to finish. I have to note that on our way out there was a cockroach the size of my thumb scuttling around on the brick wall. Again, we're technically outside so it's not a big deal but FYI. read more

Was introduced to this place by a friend from Korea, and have since taken friends there. I've had the bibimbap after being veg also. It was very good. It was very good, even excellent. All of the fare was fresh and the flavors varied and terrific. I recommend this place! read more

Jae bu do/seafood bbq, I really wanted to give this place 5 stars, but service was not up to par. Price is reasonable, huge portions,and seafood was fresh! They have 4 combos to choose from A/B/C/D ranges from $69 to $149. We got the combo D which was $149 and four grown men couldn't finish it all. read more
