Jake Sushi has fantastic food and good service. We had a couple of sushi burritos (think giant sushi pieces the size of a burrito). Amazing! Likely overlooked in the collection of big chains of so-so fast food surrounding it. Give it a try.

Food quality was top notch. Excellent service. Quaint cozy environment. I was very impressed with the tonkotsu ramen and spider tempura roll. I'll definitely be back next time I am back in town,

This is a cute place and the service is very friendly. The salad and sushi rolls were good. The bulgogi was not good. It had an unpleasant mealy texture, not sure if it was poor quality or very overcooked, something. Unfortunately, Seoul Market is closed on Mondays, my favorite place for bulgogi.

The cannonball was delicious. Mayberry was interesting with the strawberry. Mochi ice cream was my least favorite part. The red bean one was good though.

Service fast and friendly. Seating is limited but the menu is huge. Choosing what to eat was so difficult as it all sounded good. Had the bulgogi roll, and shu mai dumplings, orange ceviche And cucumber rolls. The cucumber rolls tasted so fresh and light. I would use the word delicate to describe the shu mai and ceviche too. The roll came with dipping sauce but really didn't need anything extra. It did kind of fall apart at the end but just at the rest with chopsticks. Im inclined to believe all their dishes are great. Can't wait to go back and try more.

Upon entering the restaurant, it was slightly smaller than I expected. The interior was designed in a very modern way and had a nice aesthetic to it. We first ordered the salmon poke appetizer. The presentation was nice, it came with rice and slices of avocado, topped with sesame seeds. The poke sauce was very very good. Unfortunately, the salmon was very fishy so it was a disappointment. I ordered the tuna combo while the other person ordered the tonkatsu bento. We also ordered a yellowpeno roll to share between the two of us. The tuna combo came with a miso soup, 5 tuna nigiri, and a tuna roll. The miso soup was good. The tuna roll caught me by surprise, it was better than the nigiri. It was chopped up finely but you could tell that there weren't fillers in it. It had a slight spice to it, which I enjoyed. The tuna nigiri was also similar to the salmon poke, it was quite fishy. It was quite unfortunate because I thought that a place with the name "sushi" in it would have better quality fish. Maybe it was just a bad day when I went. I tried a little bit of the tonkatsu bento and it was tasty! It came with tempura shrimp and vegetables. The tempura had a very light yet crisp batter to it, and it wasn't oily. The tonkatsu was fried perfectly. Overall, a pretty good dish. The yellowpeno roll that we shared was definitely spicy and had a hint of sourness. The fish and ingredients were fresh but I wasn't a huge fan of the flavor combination. The total came to about $90 for two people. It was definitely on the higher end so I wish that I had better fish quality for my nigiri and poke. Overall, this restaurant didn't have the WOW factor to me. It wasn't horrible but wasn't amazing either. It was just okay.

We usually go to maru for sushi but this was a closer stumble upon that definitely left us wanting to come back. The food and service were excellent and it's close by to us!! Will definitely be returning here. I got a veggie ramen and it was so massive. Leftovers and dinner!

My family loves Jaku...when you can get a table. We lucked out and got in before the dinner rush. South location by M-6 and Kalamazoo is super small. The North location on East Beltline has a little more seating. Our server was attentive and our food came out rather quickly. I loved the reusable Chopstick Helper that made it fun and easy for my daughter. Love the udon - great flavor, perfectly cooked noodles, and a yummy soft boiled egg that's slightly runny. Shrimp shumai stuck together, but gives you the shrimp taste you're looking for. The spicy tuna roll is okay. Everyone loved the California roll. A sushi burrito with soy paper is usually on my list when I have a big appetite!

We placed a huge takeout order for 8 people that ended up being $300 after the tip. We ordered everything from sushi, sashimi, bento boxes, rice dishes, and Bibimbap. It was nice of the restaurant to call us right after we placed the online order to let us know that it would take longer than the standard time the website provides, which we expected. We walked in and our whole order was taking up an entire table. They basically just pointed and said it was ours. That seemed a little strange considering we just spent $300 and no one thanked us or helped us carry anything. The food was pretty good. I probably wouldn't order the bibimbap again just because it's not meant for a takeout box. The sushi was very tasty and the fried rice was good.

Very small place but food is great to satisfy for some sushi! I've came here a few times but never took pictures until now. I always get the Crunch Munch Sushi Burrito and it's one of the best things on their menu. Anything for a sushi burrito, I'm coming to this spot. Workers are very kind and I can't wait to check in more to explore more options on their menu!

A small cafe atmosphere with in and out traffic, however Tara said the chef favorite was the YellowPéno roll and he nailed so I had the fried ice cream to cool it down. I would order from here again!

Ask the Community - Jaku Sushi

Do they have lunch specials during the week?

Usually they do, yes. But with the holidays they may not speak of much.

I'm wondering where I need to go to get authentic true ramen?

Ando Asian Kitchen - I've not been yet but I've heard great things.

They don't have a lot of veg options unless you're doing sushi - and - honestly the veg sushi rolls are more or less what you can get at any sushi place in GR, so I decided to try something different. I ended up going with the Bibimbop with the meat replaced with Tofu and it just didn't work for me. The sauce didn't taste right to me which left me with a pretty bland dish otherwise. That was disappointing. I did, however, get the Mushroom Soup as an appetizer and it was so good! I'm not a big mushroom soup person and I'd order this again without hesitation -- highly recommend it. Overall the service was great, the atmosphere was great, and the presentation was great. Combine that with the fact my wife liked her dish and my soup was excellent I think I just ordered a bad dish - or - caught a bad batch of sauce. I'd try this place again, for sure, and get sushi -- but I'd avoid an entrée.

We stopped for lunch slightly after the lunch rush and still found a crowded restaurant. We were seated quickly and despite being pretty busy, our server was great and the kitchen was as well because our wait for food once ordered was minimal. We ordered Gyoza, Bao, Spicy tuna rolls and Big Shrimp Tempura rolls. 1. Gyoza-fantastic. Pan fried just enough to bring out the flavor of the ingredients and wrapper. Most places overcook gyoza and while still decent, are not nearly as good as these were. 2. Bao. Once I tried these out of town I was hooked. Have-not seen them one any menu until I came here. We ordered pork and it was perfect. 3. Spicy Tuna Rolls-slight disappointment. The tuna is ground up and mixed with the spices to make it spicy. I would not order this again. After talking to your server, she said I could oder traditional tuna rolls and have the spices applied externally rather than mixed up in a ground up fashion. Perhaps I will order this way next time but there is so many other dishes that need to be tried. 4. Big Shrimp Tempura. Wonderful.
