This meal was FAN-static. The pad thai is the best pad thai I have ever had (and I have had quite a few pad thais in my days). Note - you can order tofu steamed or fried - an amazing option for folks who prefer different tofu preparations. Jamjuree didn't really shine for us tonight. Maybe I just have specific taste preferences for Thai food. Jamjuree is located in Capitol Hill along with the many other shops/restaurants. It's also a short walk to Bakery Nouveau (yum!). We came here on a Friday night and there were a couple tables open. The place itself is modern and clean. It's dim lit and offers quite a few tables. The tables are pretty spaced out so you don't feel crammed or anything. The spice level here ranges from 1-4 stars. We decided to go with the classic pad thai and pad kee mao. Pad kee mao with tofu - The interesting thing about the tofu add in is that you can either get it soft or crispy. I thought this was a unique touch since most of the time it's usually soft tofu. I went with the soft although I'm sure crispy might interest some people. This kee mao also comes with baby corn and mushrooms, two veggies I normally don't see in kee mao. However, they were well cooked and seasoned so I was pleased. The dish itself had a strong flavor and it wasn't overly salty. The only thing that really turned me off was that it was the greasiest and oiliest pad kee mao I've ever had. It was just dripping and piling underneath all the noodles. Pad thai with chicken - The unique twist on this pad thai is that is automatically comes with tofu by default and it comes with a fried egg! I've never seen pad thai come with an egg before. It's nice that you get two kinds of protein on this dish although the tofu pieces are not the same as the ones you would get if you chose it as your protein add in. Unfortunately, this pad thai was disappointing. It didn't taste like pad thai to me. We got this at 4 stars (maximum spiciness) and this thing was so sweet. It tasted like sweet chili oil noodles. Honestly, if I was blindfolded and fed a forkful of this dish, I would not even consider pad thai as a potential option. The flavor was pretty light so it didn't have a very strong taste. The fried egg was cooked well and the chicken pieces were tender. Portion size here is big. My partner and I both couldn't finish the kee mao and the pad thai. So for the price ($9-10 each) seems fair for the amount you get. Service was also pretty good. Our waitress was kind and attentive. Our water was refilled when empty and we were given our boxes togo and check promptly. Maybe the noodle dishes we ordered just aren't the shining dishes here. Who knows! All I can say is seriously amazing curry. I'm a curry fiend. I make it and crave it all day. If I could I would eat it everyday for the rest of my life. So it only made sense for me to order the Panang Curry with tofu. It has basil, carrots, bell peppers, and broccoli in it. The curry is nothing like I've had at other Thai restaurants. The sauce is rich and not overly sweet. I had the four star but it wasn't spicy at all. Normally, I would be irritated but to be honest I didn't miss the spice. The sauce was flavorful enough. I came here during lunch on a weekday. Might be a different story during dinner but we shall see. You get a salad and soup before the meal. The soup actually reminds me of something my grandma used to make which made me nostalgic lol. The service was great. The staff were all very attentive and friendly. PROLOGUE unlike other food reviewers on this site i am fully sentient and recommend slurping these noodles at maximum speed if you like flavor and rollercoasters. i refuse to bore you with tales of how things were better in the past or claim i am uniquely qualified to think on paper. THE DISH my pad thai noodles were swaddled in an egg blanket as if a mother wished to keep her tot both warm and trapped in flavor for later consumption. i had never heard of a quiche with noodle insides but now i've heard of everything - i've even heard of nine types of dabbing. THE PROCESS i like a restaurant that doesnt tell me how to nut my food and was overjoyed at the chance to do so with a handsome wrist flourish. to put in a way the whole family will understand: i looked like a man from a viral video and that is the highest non-military honor i've learned of. also i was pleased to find that tucked within the noodle bed there was a firm wetness throughout the dish that helped it slip easily past my strong teeth. (and no offense i am not into dudes) HEAT DEATH the food as it were was as spicy as perhaps some moon dust might be.. however it came with a thick red harvest that heated it up at least to the level of neptune or another lesser planet it was like a bathtub for peppers but the peppers were tiny babys and needed to be tasted with kid gloves. i hope one of those imageries is clear. needless to say my tongue lived to taste the sweet tang of lip gloss evermore. DISAPPOINTMENTS AND FALSE ERRORS i was so intent on trying the spring rolls that i even paid for them - but alas my clumsy errand boy apparently dropped them down denny and a rat now eats my carnal desire. now i can olny assume that they were diced to a correct thickness for man or beast. Came here because of the great reviews and I was craving some tom yum soup. I ordered kee mao and a small Tom yum. One of the best Thai restaurants I've been to, Tom yum was tangy and it wasn't sweet like some places. The portions look small on the plates but they are pretty big. They brought out complimentary soup and a side salad as well. I asked for four star but it hit the spot, a tad bit spicer than I had expected but super good. They were generous with the tofu and mushrooms in the Tom yum. My friend ordered the Tom yum noodle soup, it has a distinct different taste than the actual Tom yum. She ordered a five star but honestly it wasn't that spicy. They use chili peppers in the noodle soup so the spice is kind of different. Kind of taste a little like pho. Service was attentive, we came during lunch time on a weekday so it wasn't too busy. Definitely recommend this place! read more

I dined at Jam Juree last night close to 5pm and sat in a table near the front window. I ordered the wide noodle with broccoli and carrots and peanut sauce. I have to say it was the worst I have ever tasted. My vegetables were literally burnt - there was black char marks on them and my entire entree tasted like a burnt pan or a burnt oven. What did you do to the food that you served me? Did you cook it in a dirty burnt wok that was filthy with charred black matter and then on top of that serve me burned veggies and old burnt tofu? What happened? Can someone tell me what is going on with your kitchen and who cooked my food? Thank you. p.s. So glad I got to try this spot out. We came in just in time before the main dinner rush. This place looks very inviting from the outside, and very clean and nicely decorated on the inside. We got seated immediately. Although we stuck to simple dish choices, like green curry, pad Thai and papaya salad, they were presented in a unique way and had brights flavors. The papaya salad was very fresh and flavorful. The green curry, although didn't look very appetizing, was very good. We got it with beef and it was nice and tender. The pad Thai with tofu was super delicious. Not your typical pad Thai, a little more moist and the noodles seemed thinner. But the flavors were so fresh and bright! Loved it! I also had a glass of Chardonnay with my dinner, and it was delicious. I usually stick to red wine, but this Chardonnay was a great choice with food. Seated immediately. First we had soup (included in price of meal) that was luke warm and came with a simple lettuce salad. The taste of the soup was good despite it being luke warm. We then got the spring rolls that were deep fried (we expected fresh ones) but were nice and hot. These weren't very good but I'm not a huge fan of the fried ones. For main dishes, we had pad see ew and pad thai. The pad see ew had delicious flavor but the carrots were cold and the broccoli was super crunchy like it was raw. The pad thai was horrible. WAY too sweet, the sauce was not proportionally dispersed, and there were CHUNKS OF SWEET GEL at the bottom. Disgusting. I would never get the pad thai here again, but maybe the pad see ew. Having lived until July about a 5 minute walk from Jamjuree, I've been mourning the place, so the other night my boyfriend picked up takeout Panang curry (my always and forever order). Normally I get tofu but this time ordered chicken: three stars, brown rice. It was still the same dish I've always loved!! This Panang curry doesn't hold a candle to any other Thai takeout joint. There's something super savory and unique about its spicing. I could eat the sauce like a soup... Plus, I appreciate that the steamed veggies (broccoli/carrot) are in a separate takeout box. Not only do you actually get plenty of them, but they don't get too cooked within the sauce on the way home. And then you can put together your own perfect bite of curry, veg, and rice. So great for obsessive people like me, lol!! I do recommend dining in when it becomes possible again. They have a couple lovely tables for larger groups, and it's a nicer atmosphere than your average Thai restaurant. The lunch special is an INCREDIBLE deal. One of the best in Seattle broadway. Loved the fried rice and the Panang curry. Succulent and loads of fresh veggies on the side. We had the Rangoon wontons this was delectable . It's got a nice Thai charm and and the decor is beautiful. Seating is comfortable and there is parking right opposite to the restaurant. Particularly the pad see ew. There's absolutely no flavor to it whatsoever. It also didn't look very appetizing. It looked and tasted dry. Not to mention no spice. The fried rice was marginally better but not by much. The shrimp was seriously over cooked. I would throw it all away, but I paid way too much and was subjected to a delivery surcharge. I love this restaurant! They offer so many amazing dishes that it's hard to choose which one to eat. I have tried many dishes but my personal favorite is their Khao Soi. It's a coconut curry soup with the perfect amount of flavor. I have to say that I've tried many versions of Khao Soi and Jamjuree's is by far my favorite! So good! This restaurant is good for both take-out or dine-in as well. They have many tables and a full bar. While we tend to take out our food, dining in is a great experience as well. The best and most consistent Thai food I've found in Seattle. I've tried the Pad See Ew, Garlic Noodles, and Massaman Curry. All have been excellent, but I'm partial to the garlic noodles and the curry. The wok fried noodles are just the right amount of oily and are complemented beautifully by peas, carrots, and fried garlic (adding extra egg also really works with this dish). The curry is rich, peanutty, and filled with onions, carrots, and starchy potatoes that provide a nice textural contrast to the rest of the dish. The portions are generous and the take-out experience mirrors that of dining in. In addition to the excellent food, all the staff I've interacted with have been warm and friendly. read more

Why oh why oh why do they put so much damn sugar in everything? We'd been here once before (several years ago back, in my pre-Yelp days). My memories of that one visit were fairly neutral so today while on The Hill, I decided to swing by for lunch. It wasn't crowded, but the staff seemed annoyed that me, as a party-of-one, deigned to request a table (despite there being several empty tables). Instead, they tried to steer me to the bar. And even after I managed to get seated at a table, a girl brought out two glasses of water and two sets of silverware and acted all bothered that a party-of-one was sitting at a table. Anyway, I ordered the roti and the crispy chili chicken from the appetizer menu. First they brought out a complimentary soup and salad. The soup was a very sweet clear broth with peas and carrot resting on the bottom of the cup. The creamy sesame dressing on the little salad was, like the soup, very very sweet. Next came out my roti, which was heated triangular slices of "Thai" flatbread served with a yellow curry. The curry was even sweeter than the broth or salad dressing. Cloyingly sweet, as a matter of fact. I could barely eat any of it. Lastly, my crispy chili chicken appeared. It looks just like orange or General Tso's chicken. It was served on a bed of broccoli with rice on the side. Frankly, the chicken was awful. Amazingly, it was even sweeter than the curry. I could only eat a couple of the pieces. My table was completely barren of any condiments whatsoever, so I asked for soy sauce to see if it cut down the sweetness of the chicken. Unfortunately, it didn't. I already considered the service sketchy because of the guff they gave me about wanting to sit at a table, but my opinion was not improved when they brought the check out immediately following the dumping off of the crispy chicken. Never did they ask me how my meal was, nor when seeing that I had eaten hardly of the chicken, ask if I needed a take-out box. I will never eat here again. The good news is that because I was still hungry after leaving here, the Deluxe burger I got afterwards at Dick's filled me up nicely. read more

And the soup you get with your meal... is like sugar soup. So weird. Service is super slow, and there's one woman there with short hair who is really rude. Just takes your order without a word and sulks away. Whatevs. Their only redeeming factor is that they have this combination menu where you can get curry AND pad thai. Ok how many times have you had this struggle at a Thai place: noodles or curry (like at brunch--sweet or savory?!?!)?!?!? But here you can get both! Also they have brown rice at no extra charge. Ugh, palm to face. Why do I always do this? I usually go to the same Thai place for a reason. But I keep telling myself that maybe it will be good today. I always end up regretting that decision when the food comes out. The food is not horrible. But, be aware that if you order anything that has seafood, you will get jipped. The fried rice with prawns... we only had two in the whole fried rice. We only knew this because I scooped some of the rice onto my place and it happened to be both of the prawns. Then my boyfriend was getting some fried rice for himself and asked, "where's the prawns?!" So we must of looked crazy because we were tossing and stirring the rice around all over the plate to see if there were any left. Nope, just the two that were in my portion. I love ordering food using the Amazon Prime app because of the free shipping and Jamjuree just happened to be one of the available restaurants to order from. The to go pad thai was good, exactly what I expect for $10 pad thai. I liked that they topped it with an egg, but that made all the noodles clump together and they had to be broken apart to eat. Maybe it would've been different if I dined in, but I wished the egg was mixed into the noodles instead of topped. Also, the noodles are a much lighter color than I expected and tasted a bit blander. I'll remember to ask for extra fish sauce for my order next time. Will be returning for that egg though, it's what sets this place apart from the rest. read more

Cute place and I want to like it, but my experience yesterday was awful. I walked in with a customer as I'd liked it before and was in the mood for Thai. We walked in and stood at the wait to be seated line. A small woman walked past us, mumbled something unintelligible and placed two menus on a table...then proceeded to walk away without a glance back. We stood there wondering if that was for us and decided to plunge in. Apparently it was. The woman who took our order was nice enough, but her English was so poor she really didn't understand us and we almost gave up...solder on. We eventually got our point across, but we were getting a tad annoyed. Food was unceremoniously dropped in front of us without comment...I'm really starting to think they could care less about service quality. Food was sub par. Love me some pad si ew. Kind of a connoisseur of it and it was bad. Small portions. Overcooked? Rather than a pleasant saucy quality to the texture it was thick and gummy. I tried two of the specials today: the pad pumpkin and the avocado green curry. The pad pumpkin was like a Pad Thai but instead of noodles, there was pumpkin. I probably would have preferred the pumpkin as well as the noodles, but it was still a good dish. I had it with seafood, which includes scallops, squid, and shrimp. The avocado green curry was better, in my opinion, but that may be due to my preference for green curry over most other things. It basically was similar to their green curry, but there was avocado in it. I got it with 4 stars of spiciness, which is supposedly their spiciest, and while it was spicy, it was not as spicy as I was hoping for. Maybe my taste buds are dying.
