New location, same quality food! We visited Jane's for brunch last weekend and left full, satisfied, and pretty pleased with the price. It is one of the more reasonably priced brunches in town, although it might not be your typical brunch menu! I had the Dick Richardson burger that came with well seasoned fries (not pictured) and the most delicious homemade bun. It had a burger patty, pastrami, cheese curds, house mustard, sauerkraut, russian dressing, swiss, and pickled green tomato on it--and was as amazing as it sounds! I have a list of restaurants (to revisit) that have made favorable impressions on me. Be it the food, the service or the atmosphere. Jane's impressed me with all three. Especially impressive are the unusual menu offerings. Many odd permutations of European and American victuals, craftily fused to create appealing sandwiches and harmonizing sides. I just like the place. It is a comfortable deli/bar. It fits me. It was time to double back for visit. I still had an unfulfilled promise to myself to try the poutine. For some reason though, today just didn't feel right for poutine or a sandwich. A sampling of appetizers was the perfect diversion. And that it was! Order up! Chips and Dip, Pickle Board and the Brät Board. The pickle board was a variety of pickled vegetables and fruit. The Brät Board had two grilled Bräts a sampling of sweet mustard, whole grain mustard, kraut and a delicious soft pretzel. It all went together nicely. Now add some of the best house made seasoned chips in Tulsa and that amazing Liptauer. The seasoned chips are wonderful and a wonderful bargain $6. That includes one dip of your choice. Get two, garlic aioli, and yes, the Liptauer. The left-over chips and dip went home for a tasty snack the next day! It is always a pleasure to meet the restaurant owners, especially if they have an active on-site presence in the day-to-day operations. Today I got to meet Jane. We've only visited for breakfasts but wanted to try the sandwiches (after eating a delicious array of them at an event last month). I have to say that service started out a bit dicey and I was minutes from walking out. We were seated promptly and our drinks were delivered fast. Then we waited. And waited. Finally, (right before I almost gave up and left) our waiter showed up with apologies. We ordered the Reuben and The Chas. Both were delicious. Love the chips but be aware that if you don't like spicy, you might want to substitute another side. We stopped here for brunch upon arrival in Tulsa. The menu had some very creative options. It was a busy Sunday so we sat at the bar. It was an okay experience but a bit underwhelming. We waited for a long time to get the food without anyone really checking on us. We ordered the chicken schnitzel omelette and the pastrami latkes. When the food finally arrived it was just okay. It just felt heavy. The latkes were more the fried mashed potatoes. We could probably find a better place for lunch in Tulsa, but it hit the spot once we did get served. read more

#fatjared say...this place gave some great, some good, some not so good, and some bad. All in all, when I look back I had an average experience at Jane's. Average is 3 stars. My grading scale is simple. 1 means NOTHING good to say (I would give 0, but they don't let me). 5 is PERFECT. No complaints because 5 stars is perfect. 3 is average. Now let me explain why. First off, bad branding in my opinion. While I understand wanting to serve alcohol right by a college campus, that does not say Delicatessen to me. When I think of a deli, I think the menu should comprise of almost all sandwiches and sandwich options. You can see from my menu pic that is not the case here. They do have a deli where you can buy meat in bulk, which is great and a value add, but I would consider this a true brunch spot after the experience. The staff was not that friendly. We took at least 10 min to get seated with 4 adults and 2 children under 4, and they had no sense of urgency to get us seated. The sandwich options on the menu do not tell you what kind of bread they come on, so I had to go option by option to see what it came with, and the type of bread is a BIG factor in the sandwich. When it comes to food, the mac and cheese was not good, chicken nuggets were decent, and the fries were flimsy and undercooked, but seasoned and tasted good. The taste of everything is where this place shined though. Really really good. The garlic aioli was not a punch you in the face garlic taste like most have, which was good, and the chips were really crispy and seasoned well. The Auld Sisters Reunion was the healthiest option sandwich wise, with warm soft bread, tender juicy turkey, and not too many toppings, but a good mix. My Dick Richardson was AMAZING. The pastrami was sliced, but shredded which went well with the burger patty, and the flavor combo was spot on. Such a great flavor and when on wheat bread I thought it did better than a normal hamburger bun. I would not have an issue with going again, but I would not seek it out. Ok.... for my first time here we went in hot dog night.... and my friend was like we have to get the poutine.... The poutine... the gravy is really legit.. like get a side and put some on your hot dog too.. maybe even your salad... lol. Really good! Don't just get it plainzzz get some pastrami on it... they have got some smoked awesomeness there and if they have that as a sandwhich.... SOLD!!!!!! We went for brunch on a Sunday morning recently. The waitress wasn't exactly enthusiastic and very hard to understand, but everyone else was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast poutine was delicious as was the Reuben style breakfast sandwich. The manager (?) was all too happy answering our questions about their curing processes. We went here based on high recommendations from friends in town (we are just visiting for the weekend). It was a short walk from the location of the wedding we were in so it made sense to try it out and sounded good at the time! As a brief overview- this was the SLOWEST service I've ever had at a restaurant, and they weren't even packed full. We walked over and it too about 10-15 min for us to get seated. Not a big deal, we finally got seated and waited for the other two members of our party to arrive before ordering. We took a few more minutes to order food (some of us ordered drinks as well). Once we finally ordered food and most of us had our drinks, it took us about an hour(maybe an hour and a half) to actually ever see our food. During that time we had an unexpected 7th person join, and his order took about the same amount of time to arrive at the table. On top of this, they were out of a LOT of things early on a Sunday afternoon (no pastrami, corned beef, tuna salad, quite a few other things too). Apparently Sunday is the day they run out of things but you'd think if they know that they could avoid it. I ordered a House Salad with grilled chicken (I originally wanted tuna but alas, no tuna). The salad was much too small- and there definitely wasn't enough meat on it for how much I paid. I should've gotten a sandwich but have been trying to cut back on gluten and their options were pretty limited. It was a disappointing salad, to say the least, especially after waiting for so long to get it. I ordered the Porch Swing cocktail and the Barrel Aged Manhattan. Both were good but at that point no amount of alcohol could make up for the serious time delays we experienced. Our server was nice enough but didn't really seem to care too much how our actual dining experience was. He made an awkward jab at me about how I requested the checks but later apologized for it before we left. I'm just chalking that up to it being his last day of the week and a busy day. Wanting to like this place... Great atmosphere, friendly staff, good location for us. But it has consistently fallen short. My biggest concern is the inconsistency of the food and drinks. The Mac'n cheese has been completely different all three times I've ordered it (the first being the best, then slowly going downhill). The chicken and pierogies has been different both times I ordered it: once with a schnitzel-like friend chicken breast (delicious!), but the next time it was served with a fried chicken thigh?!? Would be nice for the menu to mention that. It also says it comes with béchamel sauce... nope. Neither time. The Latkes are good. The pierogies are not what I was expecting, and honestly, they're better heated up as leftovers. Stuffed pepper were different.... But wouldn't order them again. The vegetables are always fresh, never seem frozen, which is soooo important to me. The menu specialty cocktails are pretty much a global miss for me, and trust me, I've tried most of them. They're so inconsistent, and really nothing I'm in love with no matter how it's made. i've visited a couple times prior to my recent visit. both visits dealt with burgers. i don't recall the first burger i tried, it was around the time they first opened. i once took on the burger night deal & tried the veggie burger & wasn't convinced. coming upon the extension on burger night, i gave the veggie burger a second chance & it was remarkable. i do have a flash of memory that the first veggie burger that i tried (at jane's) being jackfruit. when i came back to try it again, i now see on the menu that it's a garbanzo & beet patty. i noticed the difference in taste after the first bite. no onions & tomatoes, added jalapeno & pickle. very very good veggie burger. i placed the order online. simple & easy. an employee called to take the payment over the phone so all i would have to do was come for curbside. the food was ready when i got there. the veggie burger is HIGHLY recommended. also, it comes with a side of fries. read more

First, I want to apologize for the bad pictures. This review is a take out review (during COVID-19), so the pics are not that good. However, that's the only bad thing about this review because the food was fantastic. Here's the rundown: Lieutenant Kraut: homemade pastrami... yes please! Homemade sauerkraut... yum! With other fixins on a Siegi's sausage... ok, you had me at the pastrami, but all together this might be one of the best sausage style sandwiches I've ever had!!! Poutine: I grew up an hour from Canada, so poutine is not new to me, but to find it done well in Oklahoma IS new to me! The gravy was salty and flavorful, the curds were generous, and I'm pretty sure these are homemade fries (because the chips on the sausage were homemade), or at least the fries taste homemade. I can honestly say this was the absolute slowest service we have ever received at a restaurant. It took us 3 hours to go from sitting down to getting our bill back, and the service inbetween that time was expectedly slow and pitiful - wrong parts of the orders were delivered, hard to get attention of servers, etc. The beer and adequate food was its saving grace, and since service can vary so much day to day, I'd absolutely be down to give it another go when I am next in town. This place is absolutely worth the trip. Every time I've been here I've had amazing service awesome food. Everything from the amazing pountine to the sandwiches and wiener schnitzel. I have to say that pastrami sandwich is to die for, a must-try for every guy. They also have a bar with a nice selection of drinks and Cocktails. But don't let the rest of that fool you, there deserts are amazing as well: rhubarb pie blueberry, buttermilk pie and all kinds of cookies as well. Last time I reviewed Jane's was almost 4 years ago. I gave it 2 stars. That was when Jane's was still at the Campbell Hotel. They've since moved further west, closer to Decopolis and Buck Atom's Cosmic Curios. We've been to brunch three times in the past 2 months and upped their game to 5 stars. The place they're in now is pretty big with a nice bar area and several big screen TVs. Brunch is where it's at for us. Though they open at 9am on Saturday and Sundays, we never get there before 1 or 2pm. They serve brunch until 4pm! I got the Two Egg Breakfast which comes with latke and toast with excellent jam ($11) to which I added bacon ($2). I got a Mimosa ($4) and Irish Coffee ($8). My wife got the Avocado Toast with perfectly poached eggs ($12) and and Irish Coffee. Meal was excellent. Service was great. Music in the background was great. Staff seemed to enjoy working there and help each other out. Way to go, Jane's. Can't wait to get back. read more

This was my first time at Janes since it was changed from being Maxwells. A lot of times, when a business changes names, that can be the extent of the change, but with this it did feel different. However, it also wasn't like it was a completely new restaurant either. It's hard to explain, but I think they've figured out how to walk that line really well. I was excited to finally try this place out again because I heard that they had some really interesting things on the menu. The one that got my interest the most was poutine. I had poutine once in Canada and wasn't a huge fan, but I've always wanted to give it a second chance (because that's how I roll...) so I was happy to hear that I could get some in Tulsa. I ordered the poutine to share with my dad and we both liked it a lot. The portion is good for sharing with 2-4 people depending on how much you want of course. I was happily surprised with the poutine. The fries were crispy with a hearty flavor. The gravy was excellent and it really made the dish. There was a good enough amount of it too. I would be interested in ordering something else on the menu that included the gravy for that alone! I liked the cheese curds on top but my dad didn't like that part of the dish as much. I'll admit the chunks were pretty big, and I might have enjoyed if they were smaller and spread out more, but I didn't mind the taste or anything. I'm not sure what kind of cheese it was but it reminded me of fresh mozzarella. For my meal I ordered the Chas sandwich in the regular size (as opposed to large). This basically meant half of the sandwich, but I felt like it was plenty, especially after the poutine! I really enjoyed the sandwich. I wasn't sure how the apple butter would be on a sandwich that also included turkey, but I went for it anyway. I'm so glad I did because I thought it was delicious! Weirdly enough, the sweetness of the apple butter went really well with the other more savory ingredients, and it was just the perfect amount to not be overwhelming but to still taste it in there! I'd definitely get the Chas again!!! The sandwich also came with chips and a pickle spear. The pickle wasn't as sour as I like and didn't love the chips. I'm hoping it was a bad day for the chips but they just tasted kind of burnt and almost bitter to me. They just had an odd flavor I can't put my finger on. I'd give them another chance though if I go back, but I'd also be tempted to sub them out for some other side! The service wasn't super attentive. I thought the atmosphere was really cool and it seemed clean and in very good shape. I also thought it was interesting how they had a deli to buy meats and cheeses as well as a place to buy some other stuff like dog treats and trail mix. Cinnamon rolls that make up in size what they lack in flavor. The cinnamon roll I got from here was an embarrassment. A good cinnamon roll has only a few critical jobs: taste like cinnamon and be tender (whether dense or fluffy). Jane's cinnamon roll was huge and had next to no cinnamon flavor, but even worse was the dry, leathery, and crumbly (!) texture. The ratio of bread to filling was bizarre. Only two whorls of two-inch thick ropy bread, more like a coiled loaf of un-sweetened bread than a roll. It wasn't even moist in the very center! It saddens me to write this review because I've been following Jane's on Instagram for a while and was really excited to try it. I'll be honest: the breakfast didn't do much of anything for myself or my husband. BUT. I totally realize that breakfast isn't really Jane's "bread and butter", so to speak, because the brunch/lunch and dinner options always look fantastic. That said, husband got biscuits and gravy and added an egg on top. I watched him as he tried it and could tell right away he wasn't thrilled. He said that the gravy tasted like the store-bought powdered gravy packets and that his biscuit was hard as a rock. Yikes, bummer. I ordered a veggie omelet. I ate it happily, but it reminded me of something I often throw together myself at home when I'm in a hurry- not bad, but nothing special either. Items available on their website were not available for lunch since they are entrees which was not posted during this process. Floors were gross with piles of crumbs everywhere like they haven't been swept for a couple of days. Booths also have crumbs and have not been cleaned. Pretty cute spot in Tulsa near TU. The atmosphere is spot on, clean farmhouse meets modern feel. The drinks we ordered (Irish coffee and mimosa) came out quickly and were good. But not too busy when we came in for Saturday morning brunch. My guy ordered the baked Mac and cheese and that was really good. Came with chunks of cheese curds that were Delish. I ordered two eggs and bacon. My eggs were good but also very buttery to the point that it left a lot of butter on my plate. I love butter but could enjoy them with less butter. Same for the latka, just way to greasy for me but it was fried so that explains it. I would definitely come back and try their lunch options and dinner options. Living on the opposite side of Tulsa has its flaws because I could eat here all. the. time. We tried to tour the menu as much as our stomachs could handle. We had regular poutine, without any of the additions, and it was the most flavorful I've had in town! The cinnamon roll was our finisher. Between 3 people I think we only took down a fourth of it. I first visited Jane's old location back in 2021 and it was some of the best deli food I've had in Tulsa. I am sad to say my recent experience at the new location did not reflect the service, food, or atmosphere of the Jane's I had come to love. We waited to be seated several minutes before even being acknowledged despite seeing several staff. Our waitress barely spoke and overall it just wasn't the most friendly environment for dining. I eat at Jane's Delicatessen regularly. The food is always good. Today I had the BTL sandwich with roasted Brussels sprouts for the side.... delicious! Seriously so flavorful. We believe they were understaffed but they had a seat yourself sign which made the wait a little confusing because as more people came in and waited for the table you had to figure out the order of priority of who gets to sit first.
