Feeling lazy and burned out following a run to the HEB, we decided to try Jason's after hearing generally favorable word of mouth. I'm a muffaleta neophyte, and having only recently tried Little Deli's excellent take on the sandwich, I was excited to try another version of the classic. Lo and behold, it was a specialty of the house! It had its own brown sidebar on the menu and everything. I was pumped. First bad sign: way too many things on the menu. There is absolutely no way a restaurant serving so many disparate items can actually make all of them well. Also, far too many George Bush-ian signs declaring variations on 'Really Good Food!'. Saying it doesn't make it so, Jason's Deli. Second bad sign: the cashier who took our order gave the option of turkey or ham on the muffaleta. You don't put turkey on a muffaleta. You don't really put 'ham' on a muffaleta either. The sandwich was served on a toasted sesame bun (sesame seeds ever so slightly blackened for that wonderful acrid aroma) and featured a pile of ham that tasted fresh from a vacuum sealed plastic bag, a single slice of indeterminate 'deli' meat, and a tasteless olive salad. Rather than use actual kalamatas, it appears that canned black olives were used instead; yet another savvy cost cutting maneuver from the geniuses who put ham on a muffaleta sandwich. I have two points of feedback: 1) For certain low-cost items such as baked potatoes, the price can be inflated 2) Depending on the staff member, service could be improved. Looking for places I have eaten in the past with my husband, I am so happy to see the reviews that Jason's Deli recieved. We live up north now in Ohio, but when I lived with my husband when we were dating he told me he had to take me somewhere to eat like I'd never eaten before. So many options on the menu, but he suggested a baked potato that would eat like a meal. I let him do the ordering; how difficult could it be? Butter, sour cream, bacon bits, chives, cheddar cheese. When he ordered his food we found a place to sit in the early lunch packed place. When our food came out, I could feel my cheeks turning red as my jaw hit the table. This was not a potato, this was a retired Dallas Cowboys football, inflated in front of me!! I gave it the best try I could, but I'm not sure if I was even able to eat half. When my parents and brothers drove me down to Austin from NY over two years ago, one of the first places we went was Jason's. As a vegetarian, I'm always hesitant to try any place with "Deli" in the name. My brothers wanted to go, and I put up a fuss at first... but after seeing the vast menu and extensive salad bar, I realized this Jason's isn't a deli at all but a veggie heaven! The salad bar is always stocked with fresh veggies, dressings, and puddings (mmmmm banana). And trust me, I know a good salad bar. They also serve great sandwiches. (For those of you who are carnivores, I hear the pastrami is excellent.) The lunch hour is always crowded, but go on off-peak hours and be ready to stuff your face. OH YEAH. I work about a block away so I eat at this Jason's quite often. I have never had a bad experience with them yet. I love the Portabello Wrapini the best, despite the stupid name. You also can't go wrong with the Turkey Wrap. Generally, I like the wraps better than the sandwiches because they tend to have some kind of spread or dressing. Some of the sandwiches, like the French Dip, tend to be a little dry. We get to-go orders fairly often and they are always correct. Some places can't get a to-go order right to save their life, but this Jason's does a great job. The cashiers are always friendly and if you're nice to them & they know you as a regular, sometimes they'll slip you a free cookie or something. Hooray for customer loyalty! read more

Had Jason's deli in Austin for 3 days and was very impressed. It was very tasty. Normally I wouldn't try a place 3 consecutive days in a row but it wasn't my choice however I loved it. The pastrami was flavorful and had a lot of mustard which I like, the turkey panini was great it has avocado and bacon so say no more, the meat ball pasta was good it'd be even better with homemade meatballs but this isn't a mom and pop shop but things sure come close. I also give major props because the tortilla soup was very tasty. Now desert was to die for the cheesecake has a combination of perfect texture and flavor. The brownie was a Fudgy nutty goodness. I'd eat Jason's deli again just hope that El Paso's deli is the same. read more

My 5 stars is for the incredibly awesome deal these guys give you. Not to mention it's good food and organic ingredients. I'm a regular there and I come for once a week for one thing - the all-you-can-eat salad bar for $8(ish). Their salald plates are very large. Their salad options are more than plentiful, including some delicious potato salad (best I've had), cus-cus salad, bean salad, and a spicy corn/bean mix. They also have ready-to-eat whole eggs and mixed nuts for proteins... oh yeah, they have hummus! You stuff your face until you can't eat anymore. If you ask them nicely, they will give you a large salad-to-go box after you hand them your first finished plate and you basically fill it all over again. It's enough to last you for lunch for the next 2 days. Oh yeah, you get free ice cream. It's not the best but hey, it's free! And you can add dark chocolate syrup, crushed pecans, and granola to it! read more

Four stars is the perfect rating for Jason's Deli. It is always good, consistent, and you can always seem to find one wherever you may be when you are craving a sandwich, soup, and/or salad. The salad bar at this location has always been kept up nicely. The lettuce has always looked fresh, the dressing fresh and full, and the fruit has always been used and prepared at the proper times. I am one of the people that has the mentality of not liking to pay for sandwiches because I feel that I can make better sandwiches and save 90% of my money by staying at home. This is one of the exceptions to my rule and I gladly go here because I can get the manager's special. (I don't know why it is called a special because I have seen it every time I have frequented this location) You get a half of any sandwich(the reuben is monstrous) and a trip to the salad bar for about six bucks. If you know me, you can imagine that my hunger is not easily vanquished. This place does that and then some. I have even had to get a piece of foil to take home my Reuben remnant (gasp). It's a good salad bar, it has good sandwiches, has always been impeccably clean, and is affordable. That all creates a pretty strong case for me to keep coming back and to recommend this place to the .000001% of the population who hasn't ever been here. Simple, good, affordable. I used to try this place when I worked on Dean Keeton and Red River, but it always left me cursing the name of Jason. I know I should have probably tried a different sandwich, but I stubbornly attempted the Turkey Reuben over and over again, each time dry and flavorless. Limp pickle. The soup, no matter which kind I tried, too salty. I will say that the creamy yogurt dip they give you with the fruit cup is really tasty. Jason, stick to the fruit cups. My company had lunch catered in. My caesar salad was horrible; the lettuce was absolutely swimming in water. Just awful. This is one of the biggest Jason's Deli I have ever been to. I really liked their choices and light options. I ended up getting their turkey wrap sans ranch and with extra guacamole. Their service was very friendly and super nice. I made my order and they reminded me of their complimentary soft serve ice cream and was given my meal number. My meal was delivered rather quickly and had a butt load of guac on the side it was great. I also enjoyed their large portion of veggies. The turkey wrap was very very tasty and the portion size was just perfect. After eating my meal I served myself some vanilla soft serve and was good to go. One thing that you need to watch out for is prime time. Right after I sat down to wait for my order a hoarde of about 40 frat boys took over the line so be wary of large crowds read more

The chicken pasta primo pasta is my favorite dish from Jason's Deli. The original size is the perfect portion size if you want to take home leftovers (like I do!). Staff is super friendly and service is very efficient. I would also like to mention that I absolutely LOVE the cheddar pumpkin crackers only Jason's Deli seems to have. I know JD already sells soup at HEB so my biggest suggestion would be to sell those delicious crackers too! I do love Jason's deli. It's not exactly a glamorous or exotic place to eat, but it serves up pretty good, healthy food for relatively cheap. And they give you free ice cream. They have such great variety in their menu, and even have tons of food you might consider "healthy." A really great option is getting the Manager's Special. That's a half sandwich with a soup or side salad (salad is + $1). I always love to get the Santa Fe chicken sandwich--it has avocado, chicken, bacon, onions and tomato. The avocado is actually not bad, too. It's not like subway or Jimmy John's (blech) avocado, which is not really avocado but actually green play-doh. The salad bar is really worth considering. A side salad is all you really need--it's only one trip to the salad bar, but it's a pretty big plate (or plastic box if you get it to go). It has a bunch of vegetables, and they're all pretty fresh. They also have a few unique mixes you can draw from--pasta salad, bean salad, fruit salad, etc. The salad bar also offers mini-cornbread muffins, which are delicious. The service is quick if you order in. There have been a few times where I haven't finished getting my side salad before my sandwich was ready. The staff is really friendly. I've gotten meals to go quite frequently, and I've found the males at the delivery counter to be a lot friendlier than the females, oddly enough. This is my favorite Jason's Deli because they take Bevo Bucks! It's hard to find somewhere else in Austin that not only takes Bevo Bucks, is close to campus, and also has free parking. That's why anytime I crave pastas, salads, soups, or sandwiches, I come to this Jason's Deli. Their salad bar is great, the food is delicious (especially the pastas), and when you get a sandwich, the cool, juicy pickle is a perfect compliment. Overall I love this Jason's Deli, and I wouldn't go to any other one, because this one takes Bevo Bucks and I'd rather spend my "free" money than real money. I have been hanging around the Hancock center for years. I finally came to this place...why have I not done it sooner? The salad bar is excellent. Fresh and well stocked. I ordered a bowl of cajun gumbo and that was great as well. The bathrooms were clean. The staff was helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Call to check on your order. We all know Jason's is good for groups, especially the delivery service they offer. Unfortunately they totally dropped the ball this weekend. I ordered a Sampler Party tray on Friday to be delivered Saturday afternoon at the spa where our bachelorette party was getting pampered. The tray was to be delivered between 1-1:30 so by 2 we started calling and were told they had no record of our order. Later we were told that they found our order and would start working on it right away but it was a little too late by then. The Bee Caves location was able to save the day so I will remain a customer but will now call 30 minutes before my order is due just in case... read more

I am not a huge Jason's Deli person, but I just needed a turkey sandwich that day. I had the Turkey-o sandwich on gluten free bread with no cheese. They did put wayyyy too much mayo on my sandwich, but over all it tasted fresh and I had no complaints. The staff was nice, and the prices were average.. about $6ish for a sandwich with chips. My friend Jenny and I went here last week on a cloudy day when soup sounded like a good idea, and they have a great selection of cream, broth, and tomato based soups. The to go counter staff, Sam and Bobby, were friendly, though Sam couldn't tell my friend Jenny what was in the Chicken Tortilla Soup vs. the Southwest Chicken Chili (though he claimed that they were both delicious because he had been eating them for years). Anyway, the lack of descriptive power was forgiven as they allowed Jenny to sample both before making her selection. She ended up getting the Tortilla soup. I, too, got the Tortilla Soup and I also got the Chicago Club, which is smoked turkey breast, bacon, smoked red pepper-cilantro aioli, organic spinach, roma tomatoes, and provolone on herb foccacia. It is a new sandwich there, and it is delicious. They are also really quick, but maybe too quick. I had also asked for a side of fruit with dipping sauce, but when I got back to my office, I had an extra pickle, but no fruit and dipping sauce for which I had paid. So, I called Sam. He asked for my address, and in 3 days, boom, I had a gift card in my mailbox. So all is well that ends well, and I believe I will be returning. read more

Although it did the trick, I definitely won't be back. My sammy was pretty gross. I got the veggie wrap. Ick. The broccoli and cheese soup was tasty, yes, but it's the same junk they dish out everywhere. Put that much salt and strange starchy cheese in anything and it'll taste good, especially if you're sick. I was really hungry today and not feeling very well. I stopped in and ordered the Veggie wrap. The cashier was pleasant and when I paid I asked about a tip jar. She said they don't have one but can take tips. So I asked if they made at least minimum wage and she said Yes! This is amazing for a restaurant! I always find Jason's Deli a good choice for a quick sandwich or salad. The Club Royal is one of my favorites. The toppings are fresh, the choice is good and staff is friendly. It is a good place to come in for quick lunch. I have had business meetings here before. Jason's Deli saved the day for me. I had a programming class to teach, 30 students for 8 hours, and with all the other details I had to plan for, lunch ended up getting forgotten about until two days before the event. I tried a few other places, no one else could put together a catering order on that short a notice - everyone I talked to recommended Jason's, and they were right. I was able to use the online ordering system - there's such a wide selection, and every meal was easy to customize as needed (we had some requests for gluten-free bread, to accommodate allergies, etc.). The delivery arrived as expected on the day of the class, at the time we expected. No muss, no fuss. The service was great. I'll definitely be ordering from Jason's again. read more
