Found this spot on Yelp and wanted to do a mini food crawl since I was in the area, figured that swinging by and picking up instead of ordering there would cut down on some time. Glad I did because one of my colleagues informed me later that they're more of a ghost kitchen and only have a pick up table in side a liquor store.. First time walking in and I was so confused. Other yelp reviews say you can walk though the liquor store and it's in the back, not sure. Personally think the sandwiches were really heavy and greasy for my personal liking, although sandwich was standard sized bread I'm only able to stomach half a sandwich due to the grease. And 2 of my 3 sandwiches were burnt black, luckily was able to pill the burnt parts off. Hot KimCheezy -flavor was really good. Loved how fermented the kimchi was, added that tang that makes you slightly pucker. Overall amazing flavor but this one was way too salty. The "Jeff's Special" (Reuben)- one of the best Reuben I've had. Meat was melt in your mouth pull apart. The Dirty Baby -wow so good, everything paired well. Loved the bits of chopped celery added some freshness in every bite to cut through some of the grease.

Saying hello to their Fig & Morty last weekend, making my second visit here not long after the premiere one! Yep that's the way you told that I fell for it. I even brought bunch of my girl friends for a Sunday sandwich date at the simple side patio they had next to the venue! We pre-ordered online and skipped the waiting time. All my friends loved this place now so I could easily see my third one coming real soon. Curious about their Fig & Morty, it's my pick this time and I was impressed! Luscious combo of sweet fig jam + caramelized onion and savory mortadella with a hint of bitterness from the veggies. Literally chef kiss!!

A sandwich shop hidden in the back of a liquor store. I got the dirty baby. It was spectacular. Flavor! Everything works together. The liquor store it self is so unique. It has so many drinks and snacks that you don't see in a regular store. Ordered and got my Sando within 10 minutes. Inhaled it just outside the building.

Small sandwich shop located at the back of the liquor store, with its own cashier desk. We got our sandwiches pretty fast, and they were able to provide recommendations since it was our first time trying. I got the special, which was packed with meat and cheese. There was also a layer of crispy cheese which was unique. The bread was crispy without being too tough to bite. Only negative is the price point of ~$18 per sandwich, but overall it was a delicious lunch.

Tucked inside a liquor store is Jeff's Table -- and not the dusty, corner-store kind I grew up with. This spot stocks specialty chocolates, hot sauces, and an impressive beer and wine selection. Basically, the hipster liquor store of your dreams... with sandwiches. I ordered the yuzu kosho turkey sandwich: a generous, fresh, light bite. The pops of lemon absolutely made it for me -- bright, citrusy, and elevating the whole sandwich. My only wish? Just a bit more turkey to balance it all out. My friend went with the Dirty Baby, which leaned in the opposite direction in the best way: warm, cheesy, gooey, and comforting. Total indulgence sandwich. We also shared the Thai peanut mac salad, which unfortunately fell a little flat compared to everything else. Overall, the vibe is cool and unexpected. I'd definitely go back and try another sandwich if I found myself in the area.

my friend and I visited Jeff's table on a Sunday and tbh it was a little hard to find. we had to rely on the yelp pictures to find where we should order our food. I do love the convenience of it being in a liquor store as I got chips to go with my sandwich. parking is street parking with some paid lots, typical LA parking. limited tables outside, most likely a grab and go place.

Heard about this hidden gem in Highland Park, stopped by after a hike and I was blown away. When you walk into the store you see a wide assortment of sodas, beers, liquor, chips, and salsas. Head to the back and it's a sandwich speakeasy. We got the dirty baby (Smokey, a bit of a kick, and a slight crunch. Married the flavors/textures very well), the hot hot (pastrami with a habanero slaw, delicious and not too overpowering with the spice level. By far the favorite), and Thai peanut Mac salad (your mom's Mac salad with a Thai twist, dope and interesting take on a Mac salad). Been to a few sandwich spots around LA, gotta say this by far my favorite so far. Hit the spot after a hike. Make the trip to Highland Park, you won't be disappointed.

What I Ordered: -Jeff's Special $15.99 I've had Jeff's Table bookmarked for a while, but I don't get out to Highland Park often, despite it being close. I made a point of going specifically for Jeff's Special. I was worried I wouldn't be able to get a sandwich, as they have very limited hours (11 AM - 3 PM or sell out), and it would've been a waste of time to go all the way there if they sold out. They offer online ordering through ChowNow, which is the best way to guarantee a sandwich before they sell out. I ordered for pick-up at 2:45 PM, but the site indicated the order would be ready around 2:45 PM, not exactly at that time. Jeff's Table is inside a liquor store. I asked where to find them, and they explained they were experiencing technical difficulties and only accepting online orders. I told them I had already ordered online, and they directed me to my order on the table. It was already there. I asked where to eat, and they said there were tables and chairs on the right side of the liquor store. Jeff's Special is a Reuben sandwich with hand-sliced pastrami on griddled seeded rye, sauerkraut, spicy Russian dressing, melted Comte cheese, and a Gruyère crisp. It was pretty good and definitely photogenic, with a great cheese pull. However, my biggest issue is how oily the top of the sandwich is. I had to pat it down with a napkin to remove some of the oil and grease. The Reuben was good and different from any I've had before, in a positive way. If it weren't for the grease, I would have given it 5 stars. I'd be open to trying Jeff's Table again in the future, but I wouldn't be rushing back anytime soon.

This place sounded amazing from the reviews and pics so I gave it a try today for lunch takeout. I ordered the Yuzu Kosho turkey sandwich with extra meat and from the pic you can see it looks like the regular amount of meat when you compare it to the other pics of the same sandwich. Also it was really salty. Didn't expect it to be that salty even though I know yuzu kosho is a salty condiment. I also got the Thai peanut Mac salad that was pretty good, but cost $9 for a small side. Seems pricey. The wasabi tobiko potato salad had way too much for wasabi, it cleared my sinuses and that's all that I could taste was the wasabi. Again, I really wanted to like this place, but I think it's overhyped.

I passed by this sign a couple of times at The Coldest Beer In Town in Highland Park. Recently I ordered takeout and tried one of their specialty sandwiches. The system works great. You find their menu online, order and pay. Then you pick up your order on a table right at the front of the store. The most challenging part is finding parking, but it is somehow easier when you are just picking up something and leaving. I tried the Dirty Baby on rye. Just the name is fun, and flavors are bold. It's a turkey salad melt with fontal and smoked gouda, crispy shallot, shiso pickled red onion and their house made chili crisp on what they call "holla" bread. All the flavors and textures are a party in your mouth. I also got a tiny side of the garlicky dill "chonks" pickle slices. It was a great palate cleanser between bites. Next time I want to try the Yuzu Kosho Turkey.

This is a great deli inside a liquor store. I had a Jeff's Special sandwich, which was a Reuben sandwich and it was sooo amazing with perfectly toasted rye, the pastrami and sauerkraut was just the right amount. I can't wait to go back.

This was a first for me! This sandwich spot is hidden In the back of a liquor store. Pretty cool! When you walk in, there is a table in the front for to go orders and online orders. It reminded me of an old school liquor store. Very 60s vibe. I opted for the Kold Kimcheezy. Very creative name lol. It was a good sandwich although it was a bit too much kimchi. It had ham, a mustard sauce (so good) and the usual veggies including arugula. Would I get the same sandwich again? Probably not but I will definitely be back to try more!

3.5 stars Conceptually, Jeff's table is so fun. You walk through a very well curated liquor store to get to a small sandwich counter in a dimly lit back room. I ordered 2 sandwiches: -The Jeff's Special ($15.50): hand-sliced pastrami even on griddled, seeded rye, kraut, spicy Russian-inspired dressed, melted Comté cheese and a Gruyère crisp -Dirty Baby ($15.50): hot, smokey, spicy chicken salad melt, Point reyes Toma, smoked Gouda, crispy shallot, whisper-pickled red onion, and chili crisp on Hokkaido-challah First off, the Jeff's Special was disappointingly small for a $15 sandwich. It could have used a few more slices of meat to give the sandwich a little more volume. While I did like the seeded rye bread for taste, but bread was quite thin which really highlighted how small the sandwich felt. The pastrami is of the stringy sort which I do like, but I felt like the sandwich was a little too heavy on the kraut making the overall taste a bit too tangy. The Dirty Baby was also small, however felt a little sturdier. I really enjoyed the chicken salad melt- it was as advertised: hot and smokey. Moreover, it had great texture with the shallot, red onion, etc. My only quip is that the bread was burnt which really masked the taste of the Hokkaido-challah. It was good, but the qual control could have been better. I felt like the sandwiches were disproportionately small compared to the cost, but I'd absolutely come back to Jeff's Table - I love the neighborhood and I'd love to try their other sandwich creations.

I got the dirty baby sandwich with avocado and it was amazing. Such an awesome blend of flavors and textures. It's something you want to eat slower to appreciate it. The guy working when I came in was really friendly. Price is high for the portions, but it's super high quality so I don't mind splurging once in a while. The only odd thing was all the stuff posted in the windows. They had pages and pages of rules and sociopolitical commentary posted in the window. One of them said to get off my phone and turn off facial recognition (??) and another one said to "go TF home" because of covid even though they're open for walk in business haha. I agree with almost all of the other sentiments, but it just reads like it's copy and pasted from a Facebook rant lol. I like the food and the people working, I just thought that part was random as hell. They touched on every modern hot button social issue in our country..except gentrification which I thought was ironic given that this is in Highland Park. Anyway, I will definitely come back and I would highly recommend it to anyone! read more

as everybody else says, its a order online pick up place in the back of a liquor store. it has some outdoor seating we were able to grab. its a good amount of food. Im usually not a fan of sandwiches that are over $15 but i have been wanting to try jeffs for a while and in glad i did ($~17). Yuzu chicken: so fresh and light and great for a nice sunny day. you can really taste the yuzu in the sandwich which is nice. Hainan: delicious and makes me wanna start adding chili crisps to all my sandwiches at home. this one was both of our favorites even though the yuzu was just as good. most are on the same type of bread, which is light crispy and soft and delicious. a regular sammie roll. go into the store, grab a couple drinks, some chips, or some dessert, and get your food. The online wait is usually 20 min til ready for pick up. the stores around also look like they have great desserts and drinks if you wanted to make a day out of the cute street in highland park. read more

There was this great article in the LA Times about 17 sandwiches hikes. Well we got the Yuzu Kosho Turkey and went to Debs Park on the recommendation of the Andrea Chang. It was a great sandwich and I especially loved the bread, hubby loved the arugula. It's an interesting combination and big enough to split with the addition of some dirty potato chips. We placed an online order, picked it up inside at one of the hightops. Easy peasy and highly recommended. read more

When Monte 52 closed this year, we were DEVASTATED, where the hell were we going to get tasty deli sammies in our neighborhood?? Cue Jeff's Table (although Jeff's Table is temporarily closed now too). This place is a lil pricey but they have a lot of unique menu items. I have worked three blocks from this hidden gem and just found it today. I could have ordered online or by phone I suppose but want to walk in. Once I knew where it was it was easy to find. The girl taking the orders was super friendly and it did take a bit to get my food but I bought a bag of chips in the liquor store and snacked while I waited for my sandwich. The food is very good and has a strong Asian inspired flavor to it. There is nothing subtle about the flavors of their food. The green curry in the Thai Peanut Mac salad was wonderful and not spicy. My only critique would be that the cheeses used on the Jeff's special Reuben were a bit strong and over power the other flavors of the sandwich but that is my personal taste. It was a very good sandwich and I will be back to try their other items. I little bit pricy but what isn't today. read more

Jeff's Table was a spot that I've been wanting to try. I think I came across it after following an LA food block and I just HAD to try it. Ordering was super simple and easy via ChowNow. Pick-up was quick and easy. Yes, it is in that Liquor Shop on the corner. What a very convenient location...anyway right when you walk in there's a table with sealed back and voila, there you have your goods! The sandwiches we got were ready within 15 minutes of ordering so make sure you're nearby! Yuzu Kosho Turkey ($11.95) - Simple sandwich, yet delicate flavors. It was a little on the saltier side for me, but it balanced well with the sesame bread. Loved the amount of greens they put in the sandwich. New-G/OG Roast Beef ($11.95) - Extremely creamy; flavors worked really well together. Filling! You'll definitely need to split this up into two meals. Really, no complaints. It was so YUMMY. What a great little spot behind the coolest liquor/convenience store with the friendliest service. The Neela's sandwich with Aloo Gobi and goat cheese is my favorite thing. I get it with a drink from the shop in the front-- maybe Jasmine iced green tea? But once I was there after a night of partying and got their delicious breakfast sandwich with egg and cheese and chili crisp, and a big coffee stout from the cooler... perfection. Call ahead and get your sandwich all ready in a paper bag from a table near the register, or order in the back and peruse all the drinks and chips while you wait. read more

Good sandwich spot. Highly recommend coming here if you want a sandwich that stands out in your memory. The bread is delicate and airy, the sandwiches components are also airy and light; I really enjoyed that aspect. I believe my turkey sandwich had yuzu dressing in it and it was so delicious to have that addition of light citrus tang, the buttery avocado and the turkey together with densely packed lettuce. Ordered on ChowNow, found easy parking, walked in the unassuming liquor store, grabbed my order quick and easy. No problem and no wait. Got the Dirty Baby and wow. So good. Subtly spicy, creamy cheesy, sweet bread, with little bits of crunch from the crispy shallot, pickled red onion, and other bits in the turkey salad. Somehow tastes kinda like pizza? Amazing. I think I just had the best sandwich of my life. I was driving home alone realizing I felt happier and was unconsciously carrying a little grin. I'm trying to think of if and when I've had a sandwich that good. DAMN!!!! Super tip top tastiness. Hats off to these good folks. Fantastic flavor and ingredients. That was special! Did take out from Jeff's Table after seeing them featured on The Curious Chef...Ordered two sandwiches, the Jeff's Special and the Hainan Style Chicken Salad...loved the special and though the hainan was tasty, it's profile did throw our taste buds off. Not sure if it was in the sauce but there was a burnt sesame oil flavor. Would definitely try it again to see if maybe it was a one off issue. Back to the special, enjoyed that sandwich, the cheesy goodness and the cured meat was mmmm. Since it was take out did not get to see the space, but it's cool that it's situated in the back of a liquor store, will have to plan an outing to eat there another time. Can't wait to go try the other offerings as they promise to be unique and tasty. read more

I love Highland Park more and more as their food scene continues to evolve and thrive, and Jeff's Table is a nice addition to what has become a competitive strip. They've got a great menu, fantastically friendly folks, and they execute their menu well, but the competitive sandwich scene and their price point keep it from really propelling themselves into the top tier of LA sandwich shops. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Jeff's Table is tucked away in the back of a liquor store, but the guys back there are super cool and friendly. They'll gladly walk you through the menu, and you can tell they've put a lot of passion into both it's design and their execution. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? So here's where things fell off just a little bit. Yes, good sammies in LA are expensive to be sure, but those expensive sammies at spots like e stretto or Black Hogg or what have you are often quite endowed in the portion department, and that wasn't quite the case with the flagship Dirty Baby at Jeff's Table. For $13.00 this was essentially a standard sized sandwich, and while it had some serious volume between the bread, it felt like I could have gotten better value elsewhere. No Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? While Pricey, this was at the end of the day a very good sandwich. The turkey was block chopped and really flavorful, and paired nicely with a whole swath of flavorful peripherals and cheeses all grilled together. Wonderful. Two Stars. Star 5: Would you be excited to go back? I like Jeff's Table a lot, but the sandwich scene is simply so competitive that given their price point there are other shops that I would more quickly recommend. No Star. read more

Super delicious and unique sandwiches. Tried the Dirty Baby, Jubano, Hainan Chicken Salad, Hot KimCheezy. All we great. The Dirty Baby was the favorite, but is very rich. The Hainan was good for a lighter, more refreshing sandwich. The Jubano and KimCheezy both had nice tang. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of their items. read more

Great sandwiches with unreasonable price tag and surprisingly small portion size for the price for a place which doesn't offer even a decent sitting arrangement. For lots of millionaire in LA this is a great find as the sandwiches are awesome & very tasty but for the money conscious people like me I would wait have to wait till I win my next lottery. We ordered to go sandwiches post trail run. I went with the Yuzu kosho turkey which was a yummy spin on a turkey sandwich (had a lemony twist). We also got a side of pickles (and i love most pickles) but didn't love the flavor of these.... also kinda pricey and the employee that day wasn't very friendly and our sandwiches took awhile (ordered online per signage). Will I be running back to get a sandwich? Probably not, but I would give it another shot! read more

While I'm still mad they got rid of my favorite sandwich (the Turkey), I can't stay mad at LA's best sandwich shop. It's also inside one of the greatest liquor stores on the east side, so it's really all you need to have a wonderful day. read more

I love love love Jeff's table. Their prices are still super reasonable with inflation. The variety of sandwiches is hard to beat as well. This trip we had the Jubano and Reuben! The bread was toasted perfectly and ratio or meat to cheese was prefect. I would have loved to post a pic, but we scarfed our sandwiches down before I thought to. There is a parking lot at the corner of Meridian / Ave 51 around the corner, but we've never had any luck getting a spot in there so just expect to have to find street parking.

The shells were perfectly crisp, the filling was rich without being too sweet, and the first bite was an actual flavor explosion. The good kind. Not the alarming Yelp kind. Every cookie was solid. No duds. No regrets. And the baguette... I almost cried. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and exactly how Italian bread is supposed to be. I saw someone complain here about the bread "exploding" when they bit into it, and I'm not sure they know that's... literally the point? Anyway, more for us. Hidden in the back of a Highland Park liquor store, Jeff's Table offers a modern deli experience that's a nice twist on the traditional. Parking isn't ideal with no dedicated lot, but metered street parking was manageable during our visit. Upon entering, you're greeted by a menu that promises gourmet sandwiches with a focus on bold flavors. The selection is diverse, ranging from chicken to mushroom, beef, and pork, providing a culinary adventure for most palates. The gentleman behind the counter was both friendly and patient, two qualities that elevated our experience as we deliberated over our choices. Eventually, I opted for the "Dirty Bird," cranked up to extra spicy, while my partner chose the Hainan chicken. We were prepared for an 8-minute wait, which was reasonable given the complexity of the sandwiches. While waiting, we occupied the red tables outside the liquor store. We took our orders to-go, eager to savor them in the comfort of our home. The Dirty Bird lived up to its name, stuffed with ample meat, cheese, and a szechuan chili crisp that provided a tantalizing kick. However, the sandwich was a bit too heavy and one-note, lacking layers of contrasting flavors. A redeeming feature was the chili oil-soaked bread, which added an unexpected and delightful crunch, but again contributed to the heaviness. My partner had similar sentiments about her Hainan chicken. While tasty, it missed a creamy element that could balance its spiciness and vinegar tang. While I love the concept and appreciate the friendly staff, the sandwiches left something to be desired. I am, however, willing to return to support the business and try other menu items--I've got my eyes set on the mushroom Ruben. Tucked away in Highland Park, Jeff's Table is a delightful surprise, masquerading behind a low-key, corner liquor store facade that might easily be overlooked by the uninitiated. Yet, stepping inside, one is immediately drawn into a world where the simplicity of the storefront belies the complexity and depth of flavors waiting to be discovered in each sandwich. The Jeff's Special sandwich is a masterclass in layering flavors, with hand-sliced pastrami seasoned so subtly yet effectively, it's a revelation in every bite. However, a word of caution for those with lactose intolerance: the combination of Comte cheese and gruyere crisp, while delicious, did lead to some discomfort later in the evening. It's a testament to the craftsmanship in the sandwich but something to be mindful of. Venturing further into the menu, the Hainan-Style Chicken Salad sandwich, while not traditional Hainan Chicken, presents an innovative twist that's both refreshing and bold. The unexpected hit of spice from the garlic and chili crisp adds a delightful kick to the sandwich roll, elevating the overall experience and setting it apart from the usual sandwich fare. The standout for me, however, was the Big Brekkie. It's a harmonious blend of flavors and spices, with each component thoughtfully chosen and prepared. The creamy chive scrambled eggs, while slightly overcooked and wishing for a fluffier texture, did little to detract from the overall enjoyment of the dish. Nestled right next to the ever-popular Kitchen Mouse, Jeff's Table is a hidden gem that deserves its moment in the spotlight. Its unassuming exterior might not catch the eye at first glance, but the culinary delights within promise an experience that is both unique and memorable. # 119 Review for 2024 Food: 4 Stars**** Service 4 Stars**** I recently visited Jeff's Table in Highland Park and tried the Dirty Birdie and Thai Mac n Cheese. The Dirty Birdie lived up to its name with a tantalizing kick of spice and crunch from Szechuan chili crisp. The oiled soaked bread was a plus, making it an amazing sandwich with delectable flavors. The Thai Mac N Cheese was really good and inventive. Parking in LA can be tedious, but the owner's cool vibe made the visit enjoyable. Highly recommend! read more

Jeff's Table is a great spot for sandwiches with unique flavors. The hainan-style chicken salad is packed with taste - spicy, salty, and tangy. They're pretty generous with the chili crisp, which is an interesting addition to a sandwich. It's good, but I might opt for a bit less next time. The chili crisp reminds me of the traditional Chinese ones from the grocery store. Just a few tables outside. If you're looking to try something different for lunch, this place is worth a visit. read more

I really love spots like this. No fuss, just great & uniquely flavored sandwiches from a divey little liquor store. The dirty baby and Yuzu ones were awesome and honestly everything on the menu sounds great and interesting. Seating is limited and parking can be challenging. Not really there fault, just a heads up. read more

Finally wanted to give this place a try since I work in the area and no thank you. The person in the front is as racist as you can get and will ignore you if you're not the right color. Walked in and right back out, take into consideration the area you're located in. read more
