Tried this place for the first time tonight and the food is amazing! I ordered takeout for a future time and the food was ready right on time. So, it was still nice and warm after a bus ride home. The online ordering system was a bit confusing. It gives you the option to select multiple options for sides and the sort. However some of the options should only allow you to select one or the other. For example, it allows you to select white rice and rice and beans, however, you can only choose one. The website could definitely use a few tweaks, otherwise it was very easy and all confusion was fixed with a quick call. I ordered the Jerk Chicken and oxtail combo with festival, plantain, and rice and peas. The oxtail is delicious; it was juicy and tender. Soooo good! The chicken was equally as good, not too dry and a nice kick to the seasoning. The oxtail is a must try for sure though! All the sides were just as tasty with the festival having a nice sweetness to it. I was originally perturbed by the price, but it is so worth it with the amount of food they load onto the plate. The texture was great, nice and soft, rice was fluffy with a good amount of peas not too overwhelming but on point! Canbbage it came with the entree was soft but with a nice crunch to it and plantains were amazing as well! I went to the Jerk Stop on Monday August 19, 2024 at about 8:30pm, the "girl" at the front taking orders is not who they should have in that position. She was very soft spoken and not helpful at all, I asked a question about a prices on the menus and all she had to say was she didn't know why the price was the way it was. She never went to inquire about it. I had to tell her several time that I couldn't hear or understand her behind the mask. That is not the type of person that should be in the front of an establishment. The food here is good. I've been there twice now pick up to go. I will probably order the oxtail next time. Here's a tip order your food ahead of time. Also I picked up some patties yesterday. They are prepared ahead of time and kept in a glass box warmer on the counter top. I ordered and paid. The cashier then continued on her phone texting and scrolling for several minutes. I was the only customer there and found it very frustrating. I was also charged $5 per patty instead of the $4 charge on their menu. I let that go. She moved so slow like she didn't want to be there. Terrible dining experience. Ordered three dinners. After 25 minutes, the sullen unfriendly woman working the counter delivered one jerk chicken meal to our table. We assumed the other two meals would follow shortly. Instead I sat there with my meal that was delivered overcooked and barely warm for 45 minutes before the other two freshly cooked meals arrived. After ten minutes with only one meal, I asked the woman when to expect the other meals. She merely shrugged her head. In the meantime, another diner arrived and asked for the to go order he had placed before arriving. After 30 minutes of waiting, he asked for a refund. They managed to give him his food instead. But our other meals had still not been served. When they finally delivered the other two meals, they were far superior to my meal. The chicken was hot and moist with sauce. The cabbage was lightly steamed with green peas still green. The food was very good. The opposite of my meal. My chicken was dry with the sauce caked on it. The overcooked cabbage was brown and mushy and the peas yellow/green with a tinny taste. My rice with peas (actually beans) was cold, dry and tasteless. Contrary to Yelp reviews that said it was a friendly atmosphere with lively music, we sat in a bare diner with a TV loudly playing a soap opera the woman at the counter was intently watching with no music. read more
