Been here twice and absolutely love it. I'm eating a #6 (roast beef and provelone) right now and am experiencing some manner of sub nirvana. The italian (Mike's way) was also out of this world. And regarding the couple of comments I read about rude staff, you must have been in a different place or have a bee residing a ways up your posterior. These guys are as nice and helpful as can be. They've got a Jersey edge to them which Solana Beach could use quite frankly. And they've got a nice Springsteen mix playing through their sound system from one of their iPods, which makes the Jersey Mike's worth going to even if you're not hungry. This is not a review of their food. I like the sandwiches and service. This is about their buy one, get one free sandwich scam! During my last visit, I handed me one of their "Free Regular Sub" card. I was in the store yesterday and ordered two regular turkey sub, expecting that one is free however this is scam. In order to get the free sub, you have to buy not one but two 22oz drink for $3 each, $6 total. So in order to get a $7 "free" sub, you need to buy $6 drink and they call this "Free Sub". Warning: Online ordering... is NOT what it appears. More specifically, the "3 pack of chocolate chips cookies" gets replaced with a prepackaged cake cookie with white and chocolate frosting. Thinking they made a mistake, and our office is 15 mins away, I called and inquired. I was told, by Steve, "our 3 pack of cookies IS the large iced cookie." How in the world can a 3 pack of fresh made CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES = a cake-like sugar cookie with half white frosting and half chocolate frosting that was prepackaged and the frosting was stuck to the wrapper. In an effort to clear up this misunderstanding, I drove back to the store and was told the exact same thing...?? Huh?!? A 3 pack of fresh chocolate chips cookies is substituted with 1 crappy prepackaged cookie?!? How does that make any sense?? Then I was told that there is a conflict with corporate and the store... again, how does 1 cookie of a completely different kind equate to 3 cookies?? The kicker, is it's the same price if I had ordered 3 chocolate chips cookies, instead of a "3 pack" that was switched out and told iy was right, not once but twice with 2 trips to their store. read more

All I can say is MEAT COUNTER ... I was so happy to see my sandwich being made fresh to order with PREMIUM DELI MEATS ... being from the east coast with lots of sub shops and deli's, this has been a walk or taste down memory lane. The roast beef is cooked right in the shop everyday. It was so nice to see a REAL OVEN and GRILL and FRESH BAKED BREAD. Sorry I'm yelling but this is cool. This Jersey Mike's deserves two scores: one for the food, and one for the weird upper management behavior. Let's start with the good. I've had about eight different subs, and with the exception of the chicken parm they are all very tasty. The Italian and the tuna are particularly good. I recommend at least trying each sandwich "Mike's Way" to see if you like it, but if you're getting it to go you might wanna skip because the bread can get soggy that way. Now, the bad. There's always a vibe of cheapness and rigidity. One time, we ordered a combo and then another sandwich w/ a drink. After we sat down we changed our mind and decided to grab a second bag of chips, but instead of just asking us to pay the difference between the drink and the combo price one of the manager brothers wanted to charge us full price for the chips. Really? Another time I purchased a combo and noticed the fountain drink I wanted had run out of syrup. I asked if I could just grab a 20 oz. bottle from the fridge. I even offered to pay the difference, but instead I had to wait while they switched it out. Again, really? By far the worst, though, was when one of the brothers got into a violent shouting match with a vagrant that had wandered into the restaurant. This happened literally five feet away from me, and instead of defusing the situation (like any halfway decent manager would) he just kept escalating it. I'm sorry, you cannot predict what someone like that is going to do, and your job is to get them out of the store as quietly as possible. It was mind bogglingly poor judgment by the manager. Oh, and to echo what others have said, I've seen the owner occupying a table during busy times. It is pretty odd. So, to summarize, while this Jersey Mike's has good food and a generally pleasant staff, they've got some work to do with the customer experience portion. read more

They really have one of the best tasting subs in San Diego. My favorite is the Original Italian- it was also the one that was suggested to me as their most popular during my first visit. The manager is amiable and jocular. Would eat here again if I had a few extra bills in my wallet. Food was great as usual, however a young women who looked to be about 19 tried to short change me by $10. Now she may have been thinking, oh it's just a 15 year old kid he won't notice! Well she didn't know who she was dealin with, I immediately strolled back up to ask for a receipt and noticed I was about $10 short in my change. When I notified her she didn't seem very pleased at all and grumpily gave me my money no questioned asked! Im sorry but the old guy working there did not want to be there and it shows. Sandwich that is a bit more premium like JM should be treated that way. I'm pretty bummed. I came in a couple weeks ago and bought a sandwich for me and my toddler to take home and share. 10 minutes later we got home and the sandwich was completely ruined and soggy that we couldn't even eat it. It was so disappointing because I even paid 14$ for it because I got extra turkey and two extra slices of cheese. So basically my 14$ sandwich turned out to be a complete disappointment. I eat at Jersey Mikes every week and this has never happened. I called about it because I paid so much for my sandwich and couldn't even eat it. The manager that was in charge told me he wouldn't offer me anything but to come back for a new one which is great but the point is I said I dine at the Carlsbad location and would like to get a sandwich there but he said that wasn't gonna be an option and pretty much argued with me.. I continued to ask why and he didn't help much so he gave me the phone number to his manager (boss). This guy was totally cool and cared so much about my whole situation. He offered to send a nice gift card out to my address. Well, its been close to 2 weeks and no gift card ever came. I went to Jersey Mikes the other day and I phoned in my order, 2 sandwhiches. When I got there, they were packed. I went in the line to pick up and paid for my food but it wasn`t done yet... no big deal I saw they were busy and I can wait. However, I saw the girl mess up my sandwhiches... once again, no big deal, people make mistakes. I told her and then I saw her make two more sandwhiches but I wasn`t sure they were mine so I didn`t say anything when I saw her put the wrong stuff on again. When she handed them to me I told her no these are the wrong ones. She was so rude, then as she takes my sandwhiches back, she turned to her co-worker (I think one of the owners) and said with attitude "She saw me make them." Then I said "You know what, its okay just give me a refund and I will go." The guy (i think one of the owners) said "No I want to make your sandwhich, which one do you need remade?" At that point I didn`t know they had screwed up my order so bad and when I tried to tell him again what was on both sandwiches, he was so rude and said to me like I was an idiot "This is how we talk here, we talk loud." Let me start by saying that I am a fan of Jersey Mike's but I've frequented three different locations and have always ordered the same thing(a giant #13 Italian) and this location on the last two visits has given me the LIGHTEST,WIMPIEST portions I've ever received. We're talking PAPER THIN cold cuts and cheese and sparse toppings.I don't mind paying a premium price for a premium product but this location SUCKS.The employees are fine,I've never had bad service but COME ON give me some value.
