So I was here at work earlier this afternoon in Monterey Park when I asked the supervising construction worker what was for lunch lol. He was like "man bro, I'm tryna see right now lol". So we go the chopping it up about what's nearby. I got the talmbout what was in Alhambra and he tells me about Jim's Burger in Rosemead which was right down the street. Said he's been going since a kid. I knew where it was cuz I had seen it last week lol. So he then tells me about the "Famous Pollo Loco Plate" and im like, "shyt I gotta try that" lol. Checked em' out on Yelp. Saw good reviews and nice pics of the "Pollo Loco Plate". So when lunch came I clocked out and slid down the street to Jim's. Immediately noticing 2 pickup trucks in their lot so I pulled around in the lot and parked in between both trucks. About to small to medium sized parking lot. And it's Drive-thru accessible for those of you who choose not to get out of their vehicle. Parking lot was clean. Classic burger stand/restaurant. It is well kept and clean inside the establishment. I noticed some guys sitting down eating what it appears to be the "Pollo Loco". And it was some of the workers from back at the job lol. I received nothing but an outstanding and awesome quality service. Both employees were welcoming, friendly, and professional. The cook, Peto. That's my guy !!! Ask or look for him if you're there. Order came out fresh and fast. Waited about like 9 mins in the car until Peto flagged me down to come grab my food from the drive thru window instead of going inside lol. I'm here for an unexpected and helluva experience so it was all good with me. Took my pics right there and everythang lol. But yeah tho, the food is and was very delicious, flavorful, hot and inexpensive. I can easily say this is the most underwhelming burger I've had all year. Got a cheeseburger combo and was expecting some really flavorful burger and fries. The burger was tasteless, and the amount of lettuce that they put inside the burger... it's like eating a salad. The burger lettuce ratio is way off. Set your expectations low for this joint otherwise you'd be disappointed for sure. McDonald's literally eye view up the block and walkable distance so you know I had to go there instead to get some nuggets. That usually never disappoints! Parking: They have a small parking lot but there is plenty of street parking. They also have a drive through window! Ordered: We had the double cheeseburger with added pastrami and onion rings. 5/5 The burger was massive which made it a bit hard to eat neatly, but it was delicious! We live somewhat close by to Jim's and we pass by it everyday. We knew it was only a matter of time before we tried it. It seems like there's a steady flow of customers coming in and out everyday. That must be a testament to Jim's Burgers having good food. I always ask staff for recommendations when I go to different spots in order to order the best food. I was told that the Pollo Loco Plate and Cheeseburgers were popular. What we ordered: -Cheeseburger & Fries & Drink $14.6 -Pollo Loco Plate $15 The Pollo Loco Plate is 1/2 chicken marinated in our famous juice served over fries with a salad and a dinner roll. This is a healthy portion of food. It's nice having fries with the salad as usually you must pick one or the other. The chicken is grilled and has some nice spice and flavors to it. It was mostly cooked well. My only complaint is that it was a bit too burnt at times. I like how their grilled the dinner roll. The Cheeseburger Combo came with a 1/4 hamburger topped with melted cheese, fries and a medium drink. Believe it or not! This was a solid burger. I like how there was a nice crunch to the burger with the iceberg lettuce. The burger was cooked to perfection. The fries were perfectly seasoned as well and complimented the cheeseburger. This is a nice neighborhood spot to enjoy in Rosemead. I love signs and I'm real sucker for any kind of googie sign. Jim's sign is really cool! The service was very good. Old school and charming, but also can feel sketch at night LOL especially with my last visit dining in and we got shirtless dudes in a old Honda with no license plates blazing it outside and then a cop coming after my meal to question them is the peak experience of this joint anyways, their pollo loco plate is truly a go to craving. Chicken is charred and juicy. Their tangy salsa which is unique and one of a kind (I think they throw in pepperonichis or banana peppers in it), but it's ADDICTING. I stopped by for a quick bite and ended up getting the avocado cheeseburger with chili cheese fries. We were looking for a burger with that mom and pop feel. The avocado burger was okay. Take a look at the picture and you'll see that the majority of it was veggies. It definitely overpowered the thin burger patty. However, I loved the chili cheese fries. They put cheese crumbs so it easily melted and the chili didn't taste too salty as I've noticed with other chilis. This place exceeded my expectations for how dirty a place could be. Tables were visibly soiled. No restrooms for customers. Hopefully there's a sink for staff to wash their hands? Chili cheese fries looked more like gravy and not chili. Chili cheese burger bun was stale and hard. Fish taco was not bad but because the tables were so dirty, it left me questioning how fresh the ingredients are and how they prepared the food. Service was friendly. They initially ran out of limes for the fish taco but later found some. Prices were surprisingly high for how rundown the place is. To be honest I don't understand how they stay in business. Maybe the thing to get is onion rings and zucchini fries? I won't be able to tell you because we don't plan on returning. Decided to try Jim's Burgers out for dinner on a Saturday evening. Bacon Cheeseburger (~$6): The size of the burger was solid but the patty was thin and extremely dry/overcooked. For the price, might as well get a double double from In-N-Out for cheaper. Chili Cheese Fries ($7): Medium sized fries topped with chili. Overall decent but just a tad bit too salty on the chili. This place is very antihygienic they touch their radio and other dirty surfaces and then they go touch the food their cooking with out washing their hands. Also all their condiments like lettuce,onion and other condiments are not covered. I love this place! It's down the street from me and just delicious. My favorite things are their cheeseburgers, the carne asada plate, and seasoned fries yummmm! My mom usually gets the pollo loco plate which is delicious as well. The only thing is the service, because they always seem to forget a whole item. Even when they aren't busy, they get busy chit chatting and don't get the order right, even after calling ahead and restating the order in person. Also they have horchata and orange bang which is definitely a plus. Just make sure that you check your order before you pay and take off. If you look at the store front with the big font and lettering: "Jim's Burgers," you are bound to expect huge juicy Patties charbroiled to an old school perfection that can only be had at a famed local shop and not a fast food chin such as Burger King or McDonalds.
