Nice atmosphere and the best shrimp cocktail anywhere. Big shrimp! Fresh Grilled! Cooked just right! But they really need to learn how to cook a steak! My wife and I split a nice big $49 ribeye ordered it Medium Rare. Steak came out and looked great, cut into it and it was raw in the middle, cold dark red center, asked waiter to have them fix it. Came back out a few min later with the same steak. It was so burnt on the outside that it tasted like eating charcoal. Sent it back. 10 min later they bring out another steak, no fresh sides, waiter stays at the table while we cut in and it was the same, super rare as the first one. He offered to have it done again, we declined and ate it. It was getting late and we couldn't wait for another steak. $49 steak and they couldn't get it right. Would have been nice if they had given us a glass of wine or discount or something. Stick with the shrimp cocktail and a martini at the bar. Might want to grab a steak at Texas Roadhouse across the street after. read more

The food has been nothing but impressive; the service is so good that, at one point, we ended up with two servers. The ambiance is excellent; sometimes, I like a low-lit environment to relax, talk, and eat. If needed, the server can draw up the curtains for more lighting. read more

On any other day, I would give Jim's Place a five star rating. However on this day I would give it a one star rating. Hence this review is a three star. I placed my pickup order at 4:40 PM for the seared ahi tuna dinner with a Caesar salad and green beans. I was told it would be 20 to 25 minutes to be ready. I arrived just before 5 PM and paid for my meal. I waited patiently as there was still a few more minutes left and at 5:10 my seared ahi tuna and my Caesar salad were brought out to me and said it should just be a few more seconds and the green beans will be out and ready. Over the next 15 minutes the two very nice hostesses upfront went back and checked on my green beans. It finally took one of them to tell who I am assuming is one of the managers that I was still waiting on my green beans and they were immediately brought out at 5:25 PM. So now that my tuna by time I get home had been done for roughly 30 minutes I know I have to reheat which made it mushy and honestly inedible. So basically I paid $46 for a side of green beans and a small side Caesar salad. As someone who frequents Jim's Place a lot not just dine in but several to go orders this is probably the most disappointed that I have been. read more

Tonight, waitress kind of slow in customer services. We ordered Cornmeal Fried Oysters and Phyllo Puffs. The Starters came out slow and the oysters were small. The puffs were fine. The salads were room temperature with no love. The bread was Sister Schubert rolls. What a joke! My spouse filet was over seared. She was did not like it. My daughter had Fresh Turnip Greens as a side has no seasoning. My Santorini Seafood Linguini taste like from a can spaghetti, small little shrimps, small little scallops. Overall, I would NOT recommend. The restaurant is not the same as it was back in the day. read more

My wife and I recently went to Jim's Place Grille for a nice date night and dinner. We were greeted warmly by the staff and enjoyed our wine and hot bread before dinner. The bread was above average, but that's a low bar because bread in the Memphis metro is pretty sub par, but theirs was served hot with butter. We had eaten at the Jim's Place East location before and had very nice meals. I am really picky about my steaks and I can say that I enjoyed their Ribeye ans it was cooked and seasoned very nicely, big deal. However I must say that they are pricey with their steaks at $46 for a 14 oz Rib eye and $42 for an 8 oz filet. For less than $46 you can get the absolute drop dead perfect 20 oz. bone-in ribeye at the steakhouse at GoldStrike and the menu and restaurant as a whole outclasses Jim's but it is in a casino and it's a serious hike. Don't get me wrong I enjoy the food here but the prices are the issue thtlst I am addressing. Moving on, my wife had the grilled salmon with a Greek salad and Greek rice. She proclaimed that it was outstanding and she was very happy with her choices so big win! The ambience of the restaurant is subdued and the service is top notch with friendly servers who really care that patrons have an excellent dining experience. Date night succes! read more

Went to Jim's place while in Memphis on business. Ate in the bar area since Bruins and Celtics were in playoffs. Bartender put both on TV's. Had the fish sandwich which was excellent (Cajun halibut that day) a half dozen oysters on the half shell and key lime pie for dessert. Service was great and the food was also. Both teams lost but can't hold Jim's accountable for that. read more

It's been a couple years since I've been to Jim's Place Grill but it was as good as I remembered. Great selection of apps and entrees. I felt the prices on steak were a bit high. The service was stellar to start but seemed to fade as the evening went by. My wife's and my meal were very good, although we felt a bit rushed to eat. Salads came fast followed quickly by the entree. All in all it was a good time and we''ll be back. read more

Stopped into Jim's Place from a recommendation from a coworker. The food here was spectacular. Its an old school mom and pop joint that is has a New Orleans feel and menu. The owners are Greeks who moved from NOLA so there is plenty of gumbo, charbroiled oysters and other items you will find in NOLA plus a lot of homestyle greek items. It has a steakhouse look but not a steakhouse price, you can eat well here on the reasonable cheap. On this occasion I had the special which included the prime rib with an appetizer and side. For my appetizer I had the king crab soup and it was excellent, Memphis sure does know how to make crab soup. This version was obviously made from a crab stock as it was bursting with flavor. The soup was loaded with nice size crab pieces and was definitely worth a trip for a bowl by itself for lunch. The prime rib is crusted in greek seasoning and was perfectly cooked. The au jus sauce was really rich and powerful while the horseradish sauce was a really good change of pace. The star of the show here though was the caulilini vegetable. I had never had caulilini or heard of it before and it was absolutely delicious. Its a cross between cauliflower and broccoli, it was sautéed in an olive oil and garlic sauce and omg was it good. I could eat a whole plate of that stuff and call it a day. For dessert I had the raspberry truffle cheesecake and that was good but didn't match the rest of the meal. I will be back. read more

We had a great meal and great service. Jordan was our server. She gave helpful information on menu choices. Most importantly she paced the meal out perfectly. We didn't feel rushed but weren't left just sitting. The food was great. Grilled oysters were perfect. Wedge salad was crispy with lots of blue cheese and bacon. A small portion is available as one of your sides. Great option. Ribeye and stuffed shrimp were top notch. The restaurant was bustling but the acoustics are well done and table conversation is very comfortable. It was a very enjoyable experience and we left feeling we really received a value for our buck. read more

Last night we had the most terrible experience. Reservation at 7 but we sit 30 minutes later and no one could explain why all other parties were sitting down but us. For the whole time we had the strong impression that we were not welcomed. Then we try to enjoy our very expensive meal anyway...but. Filet mignon dried as paper (medium), flounder presentation was disgusting and so was the taste, completely dry and no taste...the only hope were the French fries at that point... but they were soggy...when we comunicate to the waiter our comments, he said "ah", remove all plates from the table with rush...implying "get out and don't come back"...you got it, we will NEVER come back. By the way, as everyone else, we work hard to pay expensive meal once in a while and it's ok when important events needs to be celebrated...but never again at Jim's Grill. The manager also avoided our table all night. Big change from our last visit. read more

We had dinner there Saturday night. We had reservations for 7:00 and arrived a few minutes early. We were told that it would be just a few minutes and there was only a couple of other groups in the lobby. After 30 minutes of waiting there was a couple of groups of 4 that were given tables in front of us (arrived 25 minutes after us). I asked the ladies at the desk what was going on and all they'd say was that they were a 6 person group, they weren't. We finally got seated after almost 45 minutes (40 after our reservation time). They were a little slow on our appetizers but they were very good. Meal was outstanding. Moral to the story is that they will sit a regular before you and a "reservation" isn't really a reservation. read more

I typically dont visit restaurants located in a strip mall, it's just one of those things for me. Dont let this location detour you. Thankfully, friends invited us out to celebrate them otherwise I would've never ventured inside. The restaurant has an upscale feel to it and the staff are kind and attentive. We started with drinks at the bar as we waited for our table. Our server was prompt, told us the specials, and made suggestions. We ordered the calamari for an appetizer and it was delicious! Bread also came before the meal which was a yummy surprise. I ordered the filet and can say that this was one of the best steaks I've had. It was cooked to perfection; perfectly pink in the center with a but of char on the outside. It was incredibly tender and basically melted in your mouth. I got the loaded baked potato as a side. My husband ordered the chicken pasta and said it was great. The pasta itself was prepared perfectly. He got asparagus as a side which was also delicious. The others at the table order the special, which was filet with crab meat and the other individual ordered a ribeye. Both of them raved at how amazing everything was. For dessert we got the strawberry cake and the key lime pie. Perfect ending to an outstanding meal! read more

Nice building cozy feel. But the absolute WORST RIBEYE STEAK I HAVE EVER HAD! My husband and I both ordered the same thing. My steak was Burnt and the waitress told me it was chargrilled lol. It was so bad I had a hard time getting the taste out my mouth. My husband is a strong man and he struggled even cutting his. Needless to say they remade my steak and it was still TERRIBLE. No one asked to compensate or even just ask were we ok. The manager walked around asking everyone how was their meal but NEVER asked us. Which was ok. I didn't want any issues I know people like to say my race always want something for free. So we just paid tipped the waitress accordingly because it wasn't her fault and we ended our time at Jim's.
