Pretty mediocre place in general Mandoo is much smaller than it looks in the photo, I put used my hand as a reference. Not much flavor either, just super bland. Bulgogi is also not much flavor either, just mild sweet. The meat is tender and juicy though Dak bulgogi: I like the flavor but it could be so much better with chicken leg meat than the chalky dry breast meat Scallion pancake's pretty good. Still crispy on the edge even after delivery

My boyfriend found this place after realizing the restaurant we originally wanted to go was closed. And thankfully, this place turned out to be a good alternative! We were seated at the front of the restaurant (they even generously gave us a big table!). With a candle on the table and direct night street view from the big window, it felt romantic and we enjoyed it very much. My boyfriend got spicy seafood noodle soup (if I remembered correctly) and I got beef bibimbap (which came with miso soup). We also ordered the pork and brussel sprouts appetizer. All, including the banchan, tasted very good! Overall it's good portions for the price, but it's still on the expensive end. Anyways I think this is still a great place to celebrate special occasions!

We started off strong with the vegan sushi roll. But after that, it was a wrap. I ordered the tofu glass noodles (chop chae) and the texture was so slimy. Plus, they lacked in taste. It's like they didn't even bother to cook the tofu. My friend had a beef dish (bulgogi) that she didn't enjoy either. When the waiter finally came to check on us, we told him that we weren't enjoying our food and instead of trying to find a solution, he responded "there's nothing we can do about that." Then walked away. It was like a slap in the face. Eventually, the manager decided to take the items we didn't like off the bill (to be clear, we would've been happy with a better response. My friend and I love to try new places. We never want to make anyone's job difficult. The waiters response took us over the edge though). We still left a tip although we probably shouldn't have. Because of our experience, I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody. However, the ambiance was still nice. So, if you like places like this, try it for yourself. Maybe you'll have better service and food than us!

paid just under $100 for three people, which i found to be an extremely good deal considering the amount of quality food & drink we ordered w such nice intimate ambiance. candlelit, nice table setting, gorgeous bar. we had a round of appetizers & i got myself a soju cocktail before the actual dinner (it came unmixed, which i should have clarified i would have preferred a mixed drink to a pretty look) & the dinner portions are sizable without being overwhelming- i was able to share my hotpot so everyone was able to help themselves to try it :)

Jin Ju has been our family's favorite restaurant for over 24 years and has been an anchor in the Andersonville community. The owners and team are devoted to creating a warm and inviting environment while serving up the most delicious contemporary Korean dishes. Dare I say it, the original sojutini was created here! We've had countless dinners and celebrations in the private backroom. Everyone we have introduced to Jin Ju falls in love and they have become lifelong customers. Looking forward to another 24 years!

Get some Korean among the many Asian restaurants in Andersonville. It's got plenty of smaller and bigger options to choose from. Jin Ju is a pretty nice looking place, but it's not expensively fancy though. Actually it's quite affordable to be honest. There's also Korean liquors that go good with the food as well. After doing stuff around the area, we came here. It's strange that a Swedish neighborhood has so many Asian restaurants. This is just one of many of these. Has to be the most affordable. We got some of the soju. It's $3 for a sampler cup. This is a Korean liquor made from sweet potatoes. This is pretty much like vodka except sweeter. As for the food, we got the Kimchi Mandoo. It's about $18, which was kind of a lot for the portion. These were pretty much dumplings with kimchi it seemed. Has quite a bit to choose from. It's pretty expensive for the entrees, but get some of the smaller things. There's some things that are meaty like bulgogi, and there's dumplings for vegetarians.

Jin Ju is a contemporary #Korean restaurant, located in Chicago's #Andersonville neighborhood's main Clark Street corridor. I was surprised to know that it has been around for more than two decades, serving the best of their takes on classic Korean dishes. While I enjoyed everything, of note to try is the Duk Boki (rice cake-chili sauce), Pajun (scallion pancake) and the Domi (tilapia)

I have been here many times and the food is always spot on and consistent! Quality is amazing for its price! The spicy dishes are truly spicy which I appreciate. I love their bulgolgi, bibimbap, kalbi, and fried chicken. Their dishes are savory, sweet, and addicting. If you like seafood, you will like their stone pot dish chu gu mi dol sut bibimbap. I will definitely come back to try other dishes. Ambience and service are great! It's a good sit down restaurant for a relaxing or romantic dinner with a couple of cocktails!

I will give the food a 3 star, not an authentic Korean restaurant. It is more a place for you to hang out and talk to your friends. The Kimchi Chigae was really salty, but the server was kindly enough to remove it from the bill. I enjoyed the salad and the bibimbap the most. However, the rice for the bibimbap was reallyyyyy soggy. The service and vibe were awesome. Overall, this place can probably satisfy your craving for Korean food, but not a place to go if you are looking for a traditional and authentic Korean restaurant.

My friends and I came here for a birthday dinner on the weekend. The ambiance is nice and there is a spacious party room in the back. Our server was awesome - he explained each dish as they came out, gladly took photos for us, and brought out the cake at the perfect time! What we ordered: Pajun: 3/5 - scallion pancakes with a soy sauce vinaigrette dipping sauce. tasted ok Kim Bap: 2/5 - the rolls were more mini than i expected and overall tasted dry Daeji Kalbi: 2/5 - bbq pork spare ribs, some bites also tasted dry Kimchi Mandoo: 4/5 - interesting, yummy and served hot Bi Bim Bap: 4/5 - very flavorful!! Dak Bulgogi: 4/5 - favorite from the night. it was quite spicy and paired well with rice Chap Chae: 3/5 - tasted ok, standard Overall, it was a nice place to get together with friends. I probably won't go out of my way to dine here again

This is a take out review. Jin Ju is on our regular rotation for Korean cuisine courtesy of Uber Eats. Bbq spare ribs is not a main but it's plenty for one person and is finger licking good. Just enough spice and love the sticky garlicky sauce. I usually order this as my entree. Fried chicken wings have a great batter and loads of flavor. Korean pancake is chock full of fat green onions and the accompanying dipping sauce is the bomb. Kids love the chap chae glass noodles with bulgogi. We usually receive 3 types of ban chan - always fresh - but sometimes it's hit or miss on whether they provide white rice. I usually order an extra side of rice to be safe. Add this to your Korean take out rotation and you won't be disappointed!

Out in Andersonville and needed a place to grab some dinner, so my friend and I decided to check out Jin Ju Korean Restaurant. I have been to quite a few Korean restaurants in my day and even spent a summer in Korea taking in the culture and eating so much fantastic food. I even cook it myself, so I have a great deal of appreciation for the cuisine. We got there an hour before they closed, but we were still seated very quickly. I will suggest calling ahead and making reservations to be safe. The restaurant is modern and beautiful all the staff are very kind and checked up on us quite a bit. I will say that the prices for this restaurant are very fair my friend and I got a lot of food and drinks and as you can see from the photos the portions were well balanced. Our bill was less than $100. You will have a complete meal on just the small plates. Ok, the food was good. Let's start with the chicken wings delicious and fried to perfection, also not too spicy just right. Kimchi pancake was good. I prefer more kimchi and a bit crispier, but it was still good. The Chapchae was good. I enjoyed the added pieces of Kalbi on top. I also liked the bulgogi. Jin Ju understands their area and audience and is reflected in the Atmosphere and taste of the overall food. I am used to more spices and seasoning from more traditional Korean restaurants, and I feel like the palette was more neutral for the general audience. This is not a bad thing, and overall I believe it will work in their favor. I washed Everything down with a mango habanero cocktail. My friend had a Hite Beer, and we shared some Soju. Overall this was a wonderful experience, and I think if you're hanging out with friends or looking for a perfect date place, this is a great choice. 4 out of 5 stars.

Then I saw the KBBQ menu and all bets were off. I immediately pivoted and ordered the chef's tasting set, the Diweji, featuring pork jowl, pork collar, and pork belly, complete with an assortment of banchan. Zero regrets. And here's the part that should tell you everything you need to know: I am a certified radish hater. I avoid it whenever possible. Yet somehow, I found myself repeatedly reaching for the radish banchan and asking for more. Even the soup - which also featured radish - was absolutely delicious. If Perilla can convert someone who actively dislikes radish into a fan for one meal, that's saying something. The soju was exactly what I wanted with Korean barbecue: crisp, clean, and refreshing. I appreciate that it was neutral rather than overly sweet. The flavored, sweeter versions aren't really my thing unless the food is setting my mouth on fire. Speaking of spice, the wings were good: juicy, well-executed, and satisfying but I kept wishing they packed a little more heat. They weren't spicy at all, and a bigger kick would have taken them from very good to unforgettable. As for the meats, the pork jowl was gloriously rich and fatty, exactly what you'd expect from that cut. The pork collar ended up being my favorite: flavorful, tender, and with just the right balance of meat and fat. The pork belly was comforting and familiar - the classic KBBQ staple done well, with beautifully rendered edges and that indulgent quality that makes it a crowd-pleaser for a reason. The set also came with potatoes that were unexpectedly delicious. My only complaint? It was far too much food for one person. The service deserves its own mention. Everyone was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. The entire meal was delivered with efficiency and a smile, making a solo diner feel completely comfortable lingering and enjoying the experience. What I thought would be a quick happy hour stop turned into one of my favorite meals.

We quickly realized that this was an atypical Korean restaurant experience as we did not receive banchan and there were not many traditional options on the menu. I think that should've been our cue to go, but we stayed and were very disappointed. The service was extremely slow. We had to ask multiple times when it was coming, and when the food finally came out, it was underseasoned and the texture was very off. The seafood pancake tasted deep fried and had chunks of imitation crab. It had the texture of an unrisen focaccia. The soup was tasteless, and the salmon roll was drenched in mayo and eel sauce. They also gave us a "special" hot sauce that tasted like just a mix of sriracha and Tabasco. Small highlights: the ambiance was nice; it seemed clean. Waiter was nice enough. I hate giving bad reviews, but this was quite a shocking meal.

Like another reviewer mentioned, this was cooked and prepared (Mongolian style) in the kitchen. It came out on a sizzling skillet. It tasted delicious. The meat was really tender and juicy, but there were a couple of pieces with bone-in which I didn't really care for. I thought the side-dishes were really good. I completely finished the kimchi and pickled cucumbers. So good. I almost forgot about the miso soup. It was pretty standard (which is good) and hit the spot on a wintery day. Unexpectedly, for dessert, the server brought out a Haagan Daas ice-cream bar lol. I wasn't sure if this was normal or if it was just because I'm handsome? (found out later they do this for everyone... lol). I didn't really have room b/c I was full from the main dish and sides but ate it anyways (why not?). Overall I had a delicious meal. I can't remember the pricing off the top of my head, but I would say that it's reasonably priced. Oh, they also serve alcohol here too so if your looking for a spot for a group of people, that is an option. I personally had a large Cass to wash down my meal. Daebak!

An amazing spot for a get together for great food! Only complaint is that it was a little warm inside with no air and the grills going but otherwise an amazing time!

Big fan of Chef Beverly, so had to check out Parachute Hi Fi when I was in town! Such an awesome,…read moreunique vibe for weeknight dinner! Some street parking available nearby. The space has such a fun, modern interior with records and other music decor lining the small space! Perfect spot for a date or small group. A live DJ was spinning various records during our visit, which I thought would be too loud, but was the perfect backdrop for our great dinner conversation. Staff were friendly, and didn't hang around too much, which was nice! The cocktails and food were the real deal! I had the Pineapple Upside Down Cake cocktail, which I thought would be SUPER sweet, but it was balanced and refined in the best way. Lovely take on a tropical cocktail. We shared the Korean Chicken Sandwich, the Burger, and the Bing Bread. Every single bite was delicious: fun take on a pizza with the Bing Bread, a fresh and light take on a Korean Chicken sandwich, and a deliciously savory burger with all my favorite toppings! The servings were perfect to share, so I'd grab a close friend, order up some drinks and plates, and just take in the chill vibe! So glad we stopped!

It's a more relaxed concept than the OG, serving Korean inspired bar food and inventive cocktails. While I liked the original Parachute, I am obsessed with Parachute HiFi. You must order the bing bread. It's what they are known for, and for good reason. It reminded me of a large doughy pizza roll, in the best way. I was also in love with the tapioca fritters with pepper jelly. The texture of the tapioca fritter was so unique and fun, and the pepper jelly was seriously out of this world. Bottle that stuff up and sell it! Whoever said the ttebokki pad Thai didn't taste like pad thai was wrong - it does and was a satisfying dish that I'd order again! I love twists on a classic and it was so smart to use rice cakes instead of the traditional noodles. The cocktails all sounded amazing, especially having names like pineapple upside down cake and black sesame. They got me intrigued for sure. Both cocktails were well balanced and enjoyable. Can't wait to return to try more from the menu (like that burger!)
