I have to admit something embarrassing. I've never had a slice from Joe's Pizza. I know it's considered THE definitive slice of New York pizza. I've walked by their original spot in the West Village many times over the years but never stopped by. So why this location? It was only because Jamie W and I were meandering around Union Square. It was busy inside, but hey, we decided to indulge ourselves. I just figured we could share the $6 slice of the Supreme, the highest priced item on the menu. That's because it had a combination of pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms, red onion, green pepper, and mozzarella on a thin, well charred crust (Photo 6). Pretty straightforward, right? We snagged a hi-top table and devoured it pretty equitably. Satisfied? Yeah, Joe did good by us. Legendary? Well... FOOD - 4 stars...solid slice, no complaints AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...like any compact pizza joint SERVICE - 3 stars...no time for chit-chat TOTAL - 4 stars...Joe, where ya been? One of the best places to eat traditional NY pizza! Been here multiple times and always perfect! Regular cheese slice is the way to go! Spider man was also filmed here

I got hangry waiting on a never-ending waitlist at another restaurant. To curb my hunger, we stopped by Joe's Pizza for a quick slice. I knew Joe's was reliable since I was a regular at the Michigan location back in college and loved it Initially, I wanted a slice of fresh mozzarella, but the ones on display looked cold and sad, and I noticed they were not reheating slices for the people in front of me. Luckily, the person ahead grabbed the last pepperoni slice, so I pivoted immediately. A few minutes later, the fresh pepperoni pizza came out of the oven. It was warm and satisfying, though the pepperoni looked more raw than crisp. It was a standard, good slice, but nothing mind-blowing. I'd only recommend fresh out of the oven. A slice of pepperoni was 5.50, which is reasonable for NYC, but I'd be livid if I got an old and cold slice.

Yes, I eat a lot of pizza... Joe's is a reliable choice for a regular or pepperoni slice when I am in the neighborhood. Location convenient to Union Square, East Village, Gramercy.

Such a solid NY slice. Thin crust is crisp and fantastic and passes the flop test, it's cheap, you know exactly what you're getting. This would be a great late night spot or quick bite.

If you're ready for a true New York pizza experience, Joe's Pizza in Times Square delivers -- even if it means waiting a bit for it. On a Friday night, the line can stretch out the door and the wait can feel long (we're talking classic NYC crowd levels), but trust me -- it's worth every minute. Once you finally get up to the counter, you'll see why people flock here. The pizza is everything you hope for from a slice in the city that does pizza best: a perfectly thin, foldable crust with that ideal balance of crispiness and chew, just the right amount of sauce, and gooey, flavorful cheese that doesn't quit. Each bite tastes like it earned its reputation. The staff work the Friday night rush like pros -- efficient, friendly, and always with that unmistakable New York attitude that somehow adds to the charm. Even in the busiest moments, they keep things moving and keep the energy high. Yes, the line on a Friday night will test your patience, but when you're handed that first hot, delicious slice? You'll instantly know why Joe's is a Times Square staple.

Always an excellent fresh slice of pizza! 14th St. or on Carmine Street, enjoy! Worth the wait if there's a small line, absolutely.

Hot take? The regular cheese slice at Joe's is good but unremarkable, but the fresh mozzarella slice is near-perfect. The latter has a robust, savory-tangy sauce, puddles of mozzarella, and a very thin, crispy, medium-char crust. It's almost, but not quite, hot enough to seriously burn the roof of your mouth. The former has a sharper cheese that is tasty but somewhat overpowers the tomatoes. The slices are on the bigger side, but they're a bit expensive at $4.50 (regular cheese) and $5.50 (mozzarella). This is a small space, but there is some limited seating. Around lunchtime on a recent December weekday, I was able to find a window seat, although just a few minutes prior there were no seats available. If coming at a busy time, be prepared to potentially eat while standing in a random spot or take your pizza to go. The pizza's good enough that you won't be too bothered.

This is a staple! It was my first time in the New York area because there is one back in michigan as well. I know this is the OG and honestly pretty good thin pizza. I was get the moz and the line does get long. We went at a good time. The ambience is good hard to find seating. A lot of people stand

Joes is a New York staple. If you want a simple perfect New York slice Joe's is the never the wrong answer. Service was fast, fresh and a typical NYC experience. Staff had their NYC vibes but like a typical New Yorker always willing to do a little extra for a kid obliging my 2 yr olds request for her slice to be cut into pieces. I grew up in the city but my daughter has not and this was her first New York slice the sauce and cheese all over her face says she gives it 5 stars. Love the vibe of the restaurant everyone in and out pizzas being pumped out and the people coming in and out making the small restaurant a hub for happy pizza seekers.

A 5 min wait at joes pizza is a win for me at this location. All the other locations I went to made me feel exhausted just seeing the long line. I went on a week day at around 3pm so probably not just crowded with tourists. I got the white pizza and it was great as usual. I wouldn't compare it to a gourmet pizza but it's just a solid New York style pizza. My mom compared the crust to a crispy naan - she loved it!!

This location is near Union Square. Small place, got crowded at times with customers lining up to order then waiting (not too long though). Got lucky getting one of the tall tables, which can seat 4 people; some counter seating by the walls and windows. Be ready to share the space. Saw white pizza pie fresh out of the oven so I asked for a slice but was given one from another pan. First few bites were good- crust was crispy and thin, but it cooled right away. By the time I got to the last 1/3, it was dry and crust was chewy. Saw how excited some customers were about the place and I wish I liked it more. Pepperoni was more popular so my son got a fresher slice.

Joe's Pizza was on our list of food spots during our visit to New York City. Originally, we planned to go to the location on Broadway. While we were walking around, we stumbled across this location in East Village around 4PM. My boyfriend and I got one slice each to try. I kept it plain and simple and got a slice of pepperoni cheese pizza. He got the supreme. After we selected what we wanted, the staff heated them up and served them to us quickly. Solid slices of pizza. A bit pricey for two single slices of pizza though. There was seating available inside the restaurant, but it was a bit busy inside with other customers eating already. So, we took it to eat outside. I liked that the walls had pictures of various celebrities that have visited and tried the pizza. Very cool!

I ordered via Uber Eats this time, and MAN -- I was blown away. I honestly thought that they had screwed up and sent me a gluten version. I checked the order and receipt. It was so good -- the crust so chewy with bite -- but light and airy and tight -- the cheese and toppings all great and fresh and delicious. It tasted like an awesome piece of NYC pizza. I was so happy. I did some Claude sleuthing -- and think I'm onto their magic with the crust -- and am excitedly going to experiment in my home kitchen in the coming weeks (Neapolitan oven, be damned!).

RIGHT BY THE DOOR. Do people not realize that putting a bar near a door on a freezing cold night benefits no one? Good thing I did not order alcohol or I would have froze to death. Seriously, none of the pies stood out in grand memory. All I can think of is, well, nothing. Nothing positive anyway. The names of the pies are funny, and the staff is friendly, but besides that, the quality of the food for lack of a better word, dare I say it, sucks. Hoping to salvage the meal, I ordered their Chicken Parmesan. It was the Hail Mary pass that unfortunately did not connect. The cutlets are overcooked and dry, and the red sauce cooked with it has minimal tomato flavor. At least the spaghetti is cooked to a nice al dente and mellow garlic butter flavor, but like the sauce cooked in, it is also minimal. Part of the problem I feel is they are trying to go for a vibe that has a New York and modern feel. It does not work. Stay true to one or the other. Or at least look at other business models. I will use another pizzeria in Bushwick that exemplifies it perfectly. It is a hipster pizzeria in a hipster neighborhood. Through balance, it creates an ambiance both welcoming and warm without losing any of its Bushwick character. It does this by not beating you over the head with hipster vibes, just enough to let you know that you are in Bushwick. The band Franz Ferdinand was playing as I was wrapping up. Rather than take the pizza out, I suggest you throw it out. Overall pizza rating: 1.7/5

I have to say the centerpiece of the entire narrow room is the bar itself, and let me tell you, it is an absolute stunner of a contrast. Instead of the usual dark, sticky tavern wood, they've dropped in a long, continuous slab of pristine, elegantly smooth white stone. It glows under the soft lighting like a block of polished marble. There are no strobe lights and no obnoxious, skull-rattling bass in this joint. Instead, the room is wrapped in a blanket of incredibly chill music that matches the pulse of the room perfectly. It's just loud enough to drown out the noise in your own head, but quiet enough that you don't have to scream over the smooth white counter to be heard. People aren't here to be seen on TikTok; they're here to disappear for an hour or three. You slide into a chair, order a proper Old Fashioned from a bartender who doesn't rush the pour, and watch the ice melt against the amber-lit brick. It's the ultimate underground exhale--a perfect, narrow slice of peace in a city that never shuts up. Cheers!
