There's a lot of fancy expensive "brunch" places in town with $18 avocado toast and boozy orange juice, but there's only one Joe's Diner. Joe's Diner feels like it belongs in Prescott or some smaller Arizona town. You've got waitresses that call you honey and refillable drip coffee, massive platters of biscuits and gravy, and probably a whole ton of calories. If I ate here daily I would weigh 200 pounds. It's a true American diner experience, and those are shockingly hard to find in Phoenix. I absolutely love this place, and I haven't had anything bad on the menu. The wait time can creep up a bit so plan ahead; it's definitely not a run-in-and-run-out type of atmosphere, but it's also not typically the 2 hour waits you can see at other Sunday brunch places around the Valley. We were in the area and wanted to give Joe's a shot. When we drove through the parking lot, we were convinced we'd have to wait for a table. The lot was booked and we ended up parking on the side of the street next to Joe's. But I guess everyone drove separately. There were a few empty tables. I had the pancakes and my spouse had the "2's", 2 eggs, 2 biscuits, 2 sausage patties and 2 slices of bacon. My pancakes were delicious. Light, fluffy and nicely golden. I had the bacon too. Not a bad breakfast. Been hearing about this place for years and finally decided to eat here. Very much a diner from the look and atmosphere, which is not a bad thing. You seat yourself. We got here early so it wasn't too busy. Huge menu with a ton of great options. Ordered the two eggs, bacon and biscuit. Food came out super fast and was very good. Came to Phoenix to watch a spring training game, and chose Joe's for breakfast more or less arbitrarily. It was a terrific choice. I had the "cowboy benedict," a house-made biscuit with 2 sausage patties and fluffy scrambled eggs on top, covered with a creamy chorizo gravy, and it was delicious. Service was excellent, thanks to the very personable server -- whose name I didn't get, unfortunately. One really star extra: they make their own jams, marmalades, and lemon curd; the ones I tasted were perfect. I'll be back at Joe's tomorrow. read more

I have been missing out! Joan brought out this beautifully fluffy pancake with an awesome assortment of jams they make themselves. It was delicious. Loved coming to Joe's until Mikaka? served me with a disgusting filthy cup after being a frequent customer for years. What's weird is that she either noticed it and was too lazy to change it and noticed it and served it to me anyway. What's even more strange is that when she set the mug down on the table, the lipstick stain was facing her so I'm not quite sure how a pink stain on a solid cream colored ceramic mug isn't noticeable especially if she has been in the service industry for so long. She has been our waitress since we have been customers there and one would think being a frequent customer, she would be a little more attentive but no, she could care less as she provides the least amount of service as possible. The food is great but if the service is subpar, there's no reason why I should spend my hardearned money there. Mind you, all the other wait staff is great, especially Katie! Delicious Comfort Food I have passed by Joe's dozens of times; however, today was my first time stopping in, but it won't be my last. I am a fan of eating at non-chain locally owned restaurants, and Joe's has now become one of my favorite breakfast spots. Joe's restraunt is clean, welcoming, and full of nostalgia. I really enjoyed just looking around. Even though the restaurant was full, we were seated quickly, and our server gave us our menus and served our drinks quickly. Let me start with the service...it was fantastic! Everyone was so nice and friendly, it was a great start to my Sunday! The ambience is so cute and there's plenty of parking. I went in to get my order to go, I got biscuits and gravy and croissant breakfast sandwich. It literally took 2 minutes to come out. I got home and plated my mom's biscuits and gravy which was amazing! By far the best I've ever had. Fluffy biscuit, and they gave me plenty of gravy which had the perfect texture. The potato's were surprisingly good too.(not a big breakfast potato fan) but this is why I gave them 4 stars. Clearly the croissant sandwich was a terrible thing to get to go because it was sooo soggy. And there was so much grease it was inedible. I will definitely be back for the biscuits and gravy and try other things. I strongly suggest you don't get the breakfast croissant sandwich, at least to go. read more

Decided to try something local and took the path less traveled when it comes to places I most frequent when not traveling. The place is overall spacious and private for those who'd like to visit with a date or Right off the top, the coffee was not great and it took a solid 10 or so minutes to get a refill. The place closes at 2pm and it was not super busy being MLK day. On a better note...the menu has lots of items to choose from and although pricey but a good selection. I decided to try the chicken fried chicken and eggs today (let's see if the portion matches the almost $20.00 price) F.Y.I. Pancake lovers...$9.99 for a short stack plus $2.99 for toppings. Does not include the not so great tasting coffee. The food was good, the country potatoes where delicious and the chicken fried chicken was well cooked n crispy...the sausage gravy was bland. The service was a bit slow for such an empty place but we enjoyed visiting a new place. I would definitely return and recommend you trying this place out. I saw Joe's promoted on Channel 3 news the week of July 4th. We tried it on Sunday. Cool looking inside-we sat next to a non-functioning juke box. How cool would "that" have been, IF it worked?! All it was, was "my opinion" of his restaurant--isn't that WHY they "have" reviews?! Grow UP Mr. Joe, take a deep breath, and swallow. It's ONLY a truthful review, about the experience my husband and I had!!!--NOT the whole city of Phoenix! "My" opinion...I thought the food was CRAZY expensive! EVERYTHING! It was maybe 50% full on a Sunday morning. That time of day places are usually packed! I got an eggplant omelet, tasty BUT...looked for eggplant pieces, never found them. I "ALWAYS" butter my biscuits/pancakes as soon as they arrive, so the butter is melted. I saved my biscuit until last so the butter would melt-it never did. I had to ask to have it microwaved. That must mean it wasn't REAL butter. The butter on the pancake I could deal with-I just poured IMITATION syrup over it. (They HAVE pure maple syrup but they charge you extra!)
