Sadly disappointed. I had to wait 45 minutes for a carry out pizza. I walked 20 minutes after the order was placed at which point they said it would be 7 more minutes. Finally got the pizza after another 25 minute wait. Unacceptable wait time for a carry out order and when I opened the box to make sure I was getting what I ordered, I noticed they skimped heavily on the toppings. I used to be a fan of Johnnies in SM and mid-Wilshire but those shops are closed. I won't be ordering from them again as the pizza isn't worth the wait for what I get. read more

Well I've found my new go-to pizza place in Cali. Although I still prefer a slice on the East Coast, this has proven to be the best pizza I can have at home. The garlic knots served as an appetizer left MUCH to be desired, but that was not what I went for. I shared a medium half cheese half Johnnies combo with the kid. The sauce, oh the sauce, such a garlicky blend that brought out the flavors of the other ingredients. The sausage was very flavorful and hearty. The pepperoni was nothing special or at least I couldn't taste anything special. The mushrooms were still plump which was delightful and the green peppers were crisp. I took the onions off. It wasn't a fall off the slice situation of toppings, and that is good because that is just irritating. The drinks were iced but not cold which is really strange but maybe they emptied the ice bucket below the taps since it was so slow. We were the only dine in customers. Anyway the tiny place is quaint, brick and on the bottom floor of single apartments. (Bless those pizza eating bachelors, I can only imagine how fat they must have gotten since moving in... Well, Century City is a far cry from the Big Apple -- more than three thousand miles of tears away from the Empire State -- but Johnnie's New York Pizzeria makes an admirable attempt to give homage to one of New York City's staple dishes. Is Johnnie's as New York as Scorcesse, the Yankees, Sinatra and Carrie Bradshaw? Hell to the no, heaux -- but you already knew that. Though, if you're from any one of the Five Burroughs (or visit often) and want to nosh on some nostalgia, Johnnie's can bring you as close as can be expected to memories of Manhattan, by way of the Miracle Mile. Unlike PINO (Pizza In Name Only) places like Papa John's, Dominos, or Pizza Hut, Johnnie's offers a full range of appetizers, calzones, salads, sandwiches, beer (!), and -- oh yes, absolutely Bronxgasmic pizza. Yes, it's true, those other chain restaurants offer those things, too (except for the beer thing) but Johnnie's actually makes a decent go of these efforts, somehow bringing an authentic Italian feel to food deep in the heart of Century City -- so much so that you'll want to start gesticulating wildly with your hands, and kissing everyone you see. Well, maybe not (or maybe YES?). Anyethnicstereotype, you can't go wrong with whatever you order at Johnnie's, but if you're hungry and want to gain a full experience there (along with some gained pounds, huh-huh...), you might try what I've devoured in one sitting: Appetizers: Johnnie's Italian Quesadilla: it's pizza dough wrapped like a pancake around mozarella. Oh hush, honey -- it's good. Just chew, swallow, and -- more, please... Salad: NYChopped salad -- which is basically a Caesar salad with pepperoni and sausage in it to make it more fattening. Which is a good thing, lover. Pasta: Smoked chicken linguini -- no explanation needed. It's like a gigantic plate of first kiss. Pizza: They're all good, but try Johnnie's Combo if you're a beginner. It's loaded with enough cheese to sink a German battlship, and enough meat to feed a Roman legion. Yeah. It's like that, hottness. There's beer on tap, too -- so if you're coming in around one and need to be back in the office by, say, two, you might as well tell your boss that you're stuck in traffic (aka trapped in MGD). Too much food, baby. Too Much... But that won't stop us, will it? Prices are cheap -- you and your dark-haired Sicilian dining companion can both eat for under $20, easy. Service? Top notch. Atmosphere? You're on top of a hill, with a good view of a bunch of dark gray buildings in nearby Century City. Think of it as a cab-less 45th Street. Here's a quick review: I've only done delivery. Johnnies is a cool pizza joint that hits the spot if you're looking for a quick delivery in the area. The guy who answers the phone is fairly nice and cracks a few jokes, making the ordering experience a little more entertaining than the rest. During lunchtime, he'll quote that delivery will take 45 minutes, from my past experience, we got our pizza in 30. Sweeet. The PIZZA ITSELF: a little on the pricey side, $26 for a large with 3 toppings. Cheesy and the crust is pretty good. I'm no pizza snob or have a great passion for pizza, but it gets the job done. It came delivered super fresh and hot. PLEASE NOTE: it's New York style, from my past experiences of grabbing the slices from the box, the toppings are prone to sliding off. The center of the pie can get a little soft as the crust is super thin and the overload of toppings can make it slightly soggy. Overall, it's not bad and pretty delicious. Topping to crust ratio is on the higher end which is what I like! read more

I had Johnnie's pizza at a party 2 days prior to leaving for NY. After having real NY pizza in NY, I've realized that the quality at Johnnie's just doesn't compare. It didn't suck. It had similar NY pizza qualities, but there just wasn't anything special about it. If I would've had Johnnie's in NY it definitely would've ranked amongst the lowest of NY pizza. I'm willing to give it another try just because I'm having NY withdrawals. Note: Your pizza might be a little cold if you pick it up minutes after the scheduled pickup time. And now I feel stupid, because every time I have ever bitched about not being able to find good pizza around me is no longer justified because we have gems like this and it was right under my nose the entire time. This place may not necessarily serve the greatest pizza in the world, but trust me when I say this; these pies are mega tasty. I ordered two pies last night for dinner for my family and I. I ordered a cheese and a half mushroom half eggplant pizza. The pie had plenty of cheese so do not worry about them skimping on that. Perfect amount of sauce, the pizza when you folded it had the flop we all love and want to see in a good pie. But most importantly, the crust. It was fresh, chewy and crunchy. Very well done. Johnnie's, I love you, but you've got to stop using DoorDash. They. suck. I didn't get my food, Dasher was nowhere to be found, didn't even TRY to call me so we could find each other. And it's not like I'm out in the middle of nowhere. I'm in an office building on Centuey Park East surrounded by other office buildings that's staffed by a very professional team of men and women at our security desk. They could have easily dropped my food at the desk. Did they? NOPE. So I call customer service and ask for a refund. Since it takes TWO WEEKS to get a refund from DoorDash, I asked for redelivery. Another hour later, I get my food. I better not get charged twice. Also, I ordered the garlic, basil, and tomato pizza and it did not have any sauce in it. What's up with that? This restaurant is a disgrace to the service industry and hopefully won't be in business very long. I ordered a large $300+ order via EAT24 with a $10 delivery charge for a work volunteer event today and their ETA was 1hr. I called them to see if they could expedite the order as it was going to be at the end of our event and I knew our volunteers would be getting hangry. Johnnies said over the phone that it was a priority order and that they were working on it. They said they'd shoot for 45min but it would be 45-1hr. I asked them to do their best and kept monitoring the EAT24 delivery time constantly as I was getting harassed by hungry and thirsty kids, using the apps request for updates multiple times (which requires the restaurant to update the time). It stayed at 1hr the entire time. The delivery time came and went. 10 minutes after the time had passed I called again and they said the food was en route and something about traffic being busier than expected (this on a Sunday around noon. There was no traffic) they said 5-10 minutes. I try to reassure my volunteer group who are getting tired and hungry and start to slowly leave. 20 minutes later a car arrives. They don't park outside where all the cars are but drive into a parking lot which is currently full of people for a dog adoption event and proceed to start to unload. No apology or explanation. At this point half of our volunteers have left to go eat because they couldn't keep their kids waiting. The woman drops off the pizzas and then says that she needs to go back because she hasn't brought any of the salads we also ordered. I was shocked. She then also says she didn't bring any plates, napkins, utensils and condiments, all of which were explicitly noted in the order. She also tells us not to open the pizzas until she comes back. We are all shocked and speechless. We ignore here and silently start unpacking the pizzas and then she says oh that's probably a good idea because they'll be cold by the time she gets back. No kidding! At this point we are all shocked and frustrated but find a roll of paper towels and start to dig into the pizzas which pretty much could have been cardboard at that point and we would have gladly enjoyed them given how hungry we were. Everyone eats and leaves and the woman returns 30 minutes later and without a word to anyone drops off a bag with salads and utensils that no one was going to eat or use. Worst food delivery experience of my life. To add insult to injury I called EAT24 support to tell them what happened. They were shocked and apologetic and said they would contact Johnnies to talk to them. After 10 minutes waiting they said they were finally able to get through to a manager who they said was insistent that they would not do anything about it. EAT24 offered to refund our generous tip that we included with the original order. I accepted but asked them how to get the restaurant out of their network which I've used countless times without issue. They said they'd look into and post a Yelp review so here I am. Had a late lunch... My coworker and I were starving and didn't know what to go for. So I decided to get some Yelp and found this spot. It was a weird experience cause we wanted to dine in and we walk in and get greeted but that's it lol... Like no asking if we're there for dining in, no you can have a seat anywhere, no come with me and I'll seat you... Just a hi, and that's it. So we kinda pointed at a table and he shook his head and we sat.. Lol. We had to go back to the counter and ask for the menu. Finally someone came and got our order. From the tips I saw here I had to try to garlic knots and we also got a chicken bbq pizza. I have to say, the garlic knots are awesome! They taste really good!! The pizza was pretty good too! It was made fresh. It took a while for them to make the pizza so I assume that the everything was made to order. The pizza was comparable to something like BJ's pizza... (I guess)? It obviously is better than your average fast food pizza, but it didn't stand out. So the food is good, the service was a zero... I would have given 2.5 stars but I just rounded up to 3... We really loved the thin crust (well, I think it's just their regular crust, but it's relatively thin) veggie pizza. We've also had the Hawaiian pizza, and while it was good, it was a little too greasy/salty for my taste (just grease on top from canadian bacon, crust was perfect). Delivery was faster than expected and pizza was hot. I'm not sure I'd compare it to true NY pizza, but it's a good pizza, so who cares! Crust did have that nice chew to it. read more

I have only been to this location once but the pizza was good. I love how you can pick your own topping even if it is just for one slice of pizza. They heat it up right after you place your order with the toppings on it, very cool. They have a wide variety of toppings too, I love that! The crust is nice and crispy, but not so crispy that it tastes burnt. Delicious!!!!!!! If I lived nearby I would probably order it all the time. I have been to the Santa Monica location a bunch of times and always had great food. The thick crust (at the Santa Monica location) is always really fantastic. So, we had food delivered MANY times (bossman loves it) and the usual is a large cheese, large mushroom and the chopped salad (which is actually really good).
