Johns Cafe is a Solid place for a semi fast food meal. Service is great , efficient and quick ( minus lunch Rush) ... I've never had a bad meal here. Hamburgers are good .. I came here for breakfast and was unhappy with the overall meal. The bacon was soggy and cold as soon as it came out. The hash browns had onions mixed in, which they hadn't mentioned on the menu. Since I don't like onions I couldn't eat half of the plate. Overall, you're better off going to any other place for a good breakfast. read more

I have been going to John's off and on for 24 years. Just went by today after a few year away and the place has gotten even better! They remodeled a couple of year ago, added a cool soda dispenser and more menu items, but they kept all the good ones from years gone by. I had the Philly Cheesesteak today and was not disappointed. A great lunch spot. I go there regularly and haven't been let down. The portions are big and affordable, service is quick and while it gets busy at lunch time it's never packed. The only thing I wish they would improve is not keeping the salad dressing in the fridge as the olive oil congeals. read more

Just a poorly run restaurant. Service is mediocre, especially the ladies that work in the dining room. Food is your standard diner style food that you can find at 1,000 different places. This place has pretty decent food. If you order food to go make sure you double check your order before you leave. My mom picked our food up so we could eat at the park. Our meal today was mediocre because they put no condiments in the burgers so they were very very dry. We asked for just ketchup but they didn't even give us packets (even though my mom asked for it). I have been coming to John's for years here and there. I ordered a combo to share with mom. First when we received the meal the side salad instead of fries is usually a really great size, this night it was so small. This already made me irritated. I filled up my drink one time while we were eating and my mom maybe took 2 sips out of my drink. We were getting ready to leave and I asked the owner (the older gentlemen) for a to go cup. I have never had any problem with any other restaurant getting a to go cup to take my drink with me. He made a scene with me in the restaurant that I needed to purchase another drink and he was not going to give me a to go cup because my mom "shared" my drink with me! I told him that I already paid for my drink with the combo meal and I should be able to get a refill to go. I even offered to pay for the paper cup. He made me so mad!!! I heard from another customer that was in the restaurant during this incident that he went to all the other customers and was talking about me behind my back saying that I wanted to cheat and steal from him. I told him when we were leaving that I would never come to his restaurant ever again! He told me fine, he did not even care. I thought customer service is everything. Apparently not to the owner of this place because he lost a customer over a soda refill. I will take my business to Paul's Place. They are always nice and accommodating to their customers and their food is way better! read more

The food is OK. I've been here several times over the years. Went in today for lunch and there was a change I don't remember from past visits and is the reason I will not be returning. If you use a debit card you will be charged an additional $1.50. That's absolutely ridiculous and quite excessive. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a hamburger joint and none of them charge a fee for using a card. A lot of them have equal or better food. It's just a matter of principle and I find it unseemly to be so cheap. What else are they being cheap with? This place is nothing special, just average, and it put itself completely out of contention for any future dining experiences. read more

Love the onion rings. San Franciscan burger is the awesome. Customer service is satisfactory. when you dine in they fill up your soda and coffee n bring you your order. I always leave a tip as they also come around and as if there is something else we need. You have the feel of a fast food place but they treat you as if you were at a diner. read more

After hearing about John's & reading reviews my wife n I thought we'd give it a try. She ordered a sandwich with a drink & I ordered a spinach feta omelette with coffee as I'm vegetarian(did also mention to them I was vegetarian). Whilst I was ordering I had told them to add jalapeños. Once we sit down our food comes out & I have sausages in it, we called the waitress over & she took it back & said they'll make another one & that the lady who took the order made a mistake when ordering. So now my wife is waiting for me & her food is getting cold. 10 mins later my food comes out. Here I am now eating & found more sausages under the hash brown. Now I'm upset & I called the lady over who took the order in the first place, no apology or nothing just bad attitude & says "what do you want me to do make another one" I asked for the manager & she said he's gone for the day, I asked his name & she says Albert, I asked his last name & she's says I don't know do you just want your money back. read more

Have been coming to John's for close to 30 years. It's always good, fresh, and friendly. Their breakfasts are AWESOME! Our 7 year old orders the onion rings each time we come and the sourdough bacon cheeseburger combo is perfection. It's not fancy but it's good and the menu is large enough than you can find just about anything you would want. Our only issue, and what prevents us from going at times, is that they only take cash. While they do have a weird ATM like thing, it's a hassle and for all intents and purposes they really only take cash. The staff here is awesome, family owned and operated. The wait staff is great- always ready to refill your drinks or get you whatever you need. For us, John's is a Cypress institution and we love it! read more

My family and I came to John's for dinner tonight and it was very busy on a Friday night. We ordered cheeseburger combo large size with onion rings and was brought a small size. My husband ordered a cheese omelette and it was half the size of a normal omelette with French fries and instead of getting rye toast, we ended up with white toast. We also ordered a ham and cheese omelette with toast and hash browns and the hash browns were not cooked all the way through they tasted like a raw potato. We won't be coming here for awhile because it doesn't seem like the people that are serving the food know anything about the food and the owner came over to talk to us and argued with us about our order. The lady behind the counter spoke broken English and while we were trying to order our food she left the counter to tend to someone else's order with the cook and left us standing there waiting so that we could finish placing our order. Not the greatest of customer service! After telling three times to the lady behind the counter to upgrade to large size, they took my food back and still brought me back the same order. Whatever happened to the customer is always right. It seems that since they renovated the restaurant that all they care about is making money and not producing great food and service. read more

I believe this place has been renovated and they are now just going by "John's". I might be a bit biased because they are just around the corner from my place, but I like it! The food is pretty decent and the price is really inexpensive! While it may not be the finest dining, and they might be rather cavalier with what they consider a steak, most of the items on the menu are great. I highly recommend the fried chicken! read more

First time visit for my husband and I. We arrived an hour before closing on a Saturday night. Not sure why on a Saturday night they close at 9:00?? There was one family ahead of us ordering. Just walking in you could tell they were annoyed we came. After we placed our order we were asked to eat on the right side of the restaurant since they had already started cleaning the left side for closing. Chairs were already placed upside down on tables and they were mopping. We needed to use the restrooms and those were coned off already too! About 4 other parties came after us and they were also told to eat on the right side. We were all squeezed in on one side of the restaurant. As people came in after 8:30 the lady at the counter offered take out only due to the 9:00 closing. One person didn't want takeout and left without placing an order. At 8:45 we were asked if we needed more Coke as the machine would be closed for end of night cleaning. What? You don't close for another 15 minutes! All of us customers were an inconvenience for them, it was so uncomfortable. For the two of us to eat $24 (my husband had water). The chili doesn't even have beans and they don't have corndogs! I have never posted a review but was so bothered by the service that I had to. We won't be back, we'll drive a little further and go to Paul's Place or Mustard's!! read more
