My family have been going to this restaurant since the early 2000, I wasn't a fan of Korean bbq until in the recent years, and this place is definitely one of our go to when wanting all you can eat Korean bbq. I think it's $35 for dinner and if it's your birthday, you get a special price. They do check your ID. The all you can eat is great! The meats that we always tend to get are bulgogi, spicy pork belly, marinated short ribs and chicken.... Also, they have a better ventilation system now, so you can leave out of there not smelling too much like food, lol... The service is pretty good. They have attentive servers, Lastly, you can go on Yelp to join their waitlist but can also make reservations ahead of time. read more

I came here with my family after it was recommended to me by my friend. We came about 50 minutes before it closed since this was the only place that was open and we were all really hungry. When we entered, the waiter sat us down immediately but then told us that we had only once chance to order since the kitchen was closing. We had to order all our meats and the quantity we wanted all at once. We all understood and made sure to order a lot. We ended up with so much meat that we were stacking it in different areas to make room. The meat was so delicious and I don't think it was because we were all hungry. The quality was there and the service was great even though it felt like we were rushed. They gave us plenty of time to eat and didn't even try to kick us out. We ended up finishing all our food and it was a perfect amount. It cost about $27 per person which was more than reasonable. I would definitely come back here again since I was so impressed with the meat and the service. I felt like I barely touched the surface with this restaurant. I guess this is the perfect timing as dine in is open and restaurants are not really busy. We got there and seated right away. The service was amazing. Food was delicious. TOP TIER FOOD! Ordered through doordash 2 days in a row while staying at the AC Hotel nearby, THEY WERE SO GOOD! I had a variety of the grilled & sauteed meats, their seasoning is ON POINT! Quickly has become my favorite place for KBBQ. I usually come in for the all you can it, which is definitively worth it. Everything I've tried has been good, and all the sides are delicious. They also have drinks, I really like their soju. The kimchi fried rice is amazingggg. They have generous dinner takeout options too. If you decide to dine in, it can get quite busy so I would recommend making a reservation on Yelp ahead of time. Jong Ga House was my favorite spot for set family meal deals dine in pre-pandemic so this is my first time trying their $50 post-pandemic family dinner meal. Spicy pork, sautéed spicy octopus, grilled mackerel, tofu soup and a large tray of about 6 different side dishes plus rice for 4 people. Flavor was on point and they did not skip on quality as the tofu soup has beef pieces and even a cracked egg. So delish! I saw the owners working hard together as many restaurants I know are down 90 percent and struggling to survive. Support your local restaurants and enjoy yummy food at the same time. I cannot give them enough kuudooosss!!! I made RSVP's for my besties birthday and it was all around delicious and the customer service was excellent. I love they way they do birthday songs and acknowledgements ~ they put the song over the PA system so everyone can cheer you. My brother and I like to get the hot stone bibimbap and soft tofu soup to-go from Jong Ga House. I like coming here in the winter when it's cold out for this reason because the food is so comforting. Delicious AYCE Korean bbq but the service could be better. I love that you can make reservations. I filled out the form on their website two days before going for Saturday lunch for a party of 8. Within hours I received a confirmation email for my reservation and we were all set to go. The lunch AYCE price is a steal at $17.99, though dinner isn't bad for $26.99. They also offer happy hour pricing between 9-11 pm for $21.99. As far as we could tell, the lunch and dinner menus are exactly the same except for LA style beef short ribs and garlic pork which are only available at dinner, so lunch is the better value for sure. Our table was already set up for us when I arrived at noon, and slowly my party trickled in. I really appreciated the huge selection of banchan that was waiting for us; there were maybe 15 dishes! I love anything pickled, so my favorites were the pickled daikon and cucumber. The bean sprouts and japchae (glass noodles) were delicious as well. Since we had a larger party, they gave us a table with two grills, which definitely made it a lot easier for us. Once everyone was there, we were ready to order! The menu says you can only order 4 items at a time, but for our first order, the server let us order as much meat and side items as we wanted which was nice. Favorites were the pork belly (unmarinated) and kalbi / beef short ribs, though the cutting of the kalbi was a bit questionable since the pieces were all different sizes. The calamari was decent as well. At the end of the meal, we also got some veggies in the form of mushrooms and zuchini to try and feel "healthier" after stuffing ourselves with a ton of meat :) Overall we were all quite satisfied with the meal and the selection of meats. I really appreciated that the AYCE also included unlimited lettuce and rice paper wraps. The one thing I wish they had was the steamed egg. The only complaint about the whole meal was that the service wasn't great. It was hard to flag down a server, and I would find myself raising my arm in the air for quite a while before they saw me. And some of the servers were quite rude in how they talked to us. Overall, though, I had a great time here and would definitely come back! Parking is metered on the main street but I was able to find free residential street parking pretty easily two blocks away. read more

This is mine and my partner's favorite Korean BBQ place in the East Bay Area. I think you get the most out of your dollar with this restaurant-- service is very quick! They may forget certain side dishes because of how busy they are, so you may need to remind your server about a side you're waiting on but usually they will take action right away and follow up on that. Meat quality IMO is pretty good, I am not the biggest fan of their seafood selection but that's a personal preference. Their soups are top notch, my personal fave is their spicy kimchi soup! They always come out piping hot. They do get busy for dinner time and especially on the weekends, as expected so be prepared to wait. However, I've personally never waited more than 15 minutes to be sat for AYCE. Parking is abysmal considering this location is so close to Lake Merritt so be prepared to park in the residential area around the restaurant and do a bit of walking. I always say it's okay bc of how full I am after every meal here LOL it's nice to walk it off a little. Highly recommend you to try this place :) read more

I wanted tofu soup for the cold winter days and also getting my wisdom teeth removed I can only have soft foods. I found this place on UberEats which was super convenient. I ordered the spicy tofu soup and spicy rice cake which were both so good. The tofu soup had big chunks of soft tofu pieces of beef, and veggies like onions and zucchini. They always pack you a container full of side dishes which save a lot of plastic since they're not individually packed and you have them all on one plate. All the side dishes are amazing too. I am excited to try more things on their menu and explore their combo family sets that they have! I don't think you can go wrong with anything on their menu. read more

Found this place last minute since we were visiting San Francisco for the day. We decided we wanted some all you can eat Korean Barbecue and came upon this restaurant, since it was on the way home. **Just a heads up, you should make a reservation on yelp ahead of time, because there could be a wait. And to also find parking, since you have to park on the side street. Anyways we waited for about and hour and a half but it was cool, since it was a Saturday and they were busy, plus we didn't make a reservation in advance. So we were finally seated and the two ladies that helped us were really nice. The man at the bar was also really nice and cheerful! We ordered about 3 pork belly, 1 spicy pork belly, 1 spicy chicken and 1 beef brisket, and rice they also give you side dishes to go along with it. The meats we choose to cook were really delicious! The service was good and the employees were really friendly and caring! Overall our experience eating here was great and I would highly recommend to try! Meat was terrible, as I should have expected from the bad Asian-to-non-Asian ratio (Koreans joke about how a restaurant with more non-Asian customers than Asians tend to be inauthentic/bad). Everything tasted like it has been frozen for years. Far worse than Jong Ga's counterparts like Oh**ne. Soju cocktail was bad as well. However, service was great, which was the only benefit of paying $100 for two. As aforementioned, the place was full of non-Asians so felt like dining in at McDonald's haha. I've come here last week because I wanted spicy noodles, but nothing too heavy and greasy. I ended up trying the spicy buckwheat noodles here. Ok, they're still noodles, so I guess they're still heavy...but the taste! It's more on the vermicelli with fish sauce vs pho side of things if that makes sense. It's a cold noodle, so it's automatically lighter feeling already. It's spicy, but it comes with tons of veggies, including sweet radish and kimchi. I chose medium spicy, which is feels more like mild to me, but it's actually perfect that way. It's covered in chili flakes and tiny sesame(?) seeds, but you don't taste it a whole lot. We were quickly seated and greeted by the staff, and were able to order quickly and start cooking even quicker! Best Korean bbq in price/quality terms. Since it was my birthday I got $10 discount and an ice cream (matcha?) with chocolate sauce. Waiters comes at frequently to check if you want more food. Lot of options. The kimchi too spicy for my taste, maybe there should be two versions. Had to show my ID twice, once for each waiter, it shouldn't be necessary. Also they change the cooking tray 3 times (because it gats burned when you cook some meat that has sweet sauce and caramelize when cooked). In overall, 5 starts, will go again. read more

YELP 100 CHALLENGE 2018 - PART 2: 3/100 I let baby cuzzo and fiancée choose where to meet for dinner and they chose this place because we are all suckers for AYCE KBBQ!!! Street parking only, Hubbers and I got lucky and found a spot a few steps away from the front door. We had reservations for 630pm - we all pretty much got there at the same time. I was immediately impressed to find the blowers as well as the table grills brand spankin' new. The only thing, however, was I noticed a few tables using a table top grill instead. This was shortly discussed with my party and we all assumed they made recent upgrades and the equipment wasn't quite ready for use just yet. We didn't really care, it wasn't a big deal. We would have been fine with the table top grill as long as it served its purpose. We all went for the AYCE BBQ option, of course. They were very generous with all their banchan - a selection of 15 was immediately placed on our table. It also comes with cold young radish kim chi noodle soup as well as seaweed soup! Cool! I let Hubbers, cuzzo and his fiancée decide. There's a limit of 4 items per order, so we started off with LA style beef short ribs, pork belly, beef brisket and shrimp. What we got, however, was octopus instead of shrimp. (Yeah, there was a miscommunication there somewhere.) But no matter. None of us has ever tried octopus at an AYCE joint, so it was a good time for all 4 of us for a first! It's not like it was a complete loss - we can easily get shrimp on the next round. Typical KBBQ spot. Other than the octopus gaffe (our server, Michelle, educated us on when it was ready) everything else pretty much tasted as we all expected. There was nothing we didn't like. We ordered a few more brisket plates and, of course, the shrimp. Michelle changed our grill at least three times - I LOVE THAT. The only snags: 1) The grill was placed at the end of the table, so us girls ended up doing all the cooking. We would have asked to put it in the center table except they were quick to light it up and walked away. I noticed every other table that opted for the KBBQ had all their grills at the table end as well. I'm guessing they didn't want it placed on top of the covered table grill. 2) The place wasn't that busy, but we found it a bit difficult flagging someone when we needed assistance - refills (banchan, drinks, etc...) Michelle was busy behind the bar or the kitchen. We caught another server's attention to put in some orders but it never made it to the kitchen. Hubbers's 2nd bottle of beer never made it to our table either, so we all had to repeat all these orders to Michelle when she finally came around. We didn't like that unnecessary wait considering they weren't even operating at a full house. 3) I wouldn't necessarily call this a snag, but I found it a bit awkward. At the end of our meal, Michelle spoke to us about Yelp reviews. (This is a first for me - not one business owner or worker has ever spoken to me about Yelp reviews - EVER - until now.) She mentioned somewhere in her little spiel that it's not really an AYCE joint and asks not to mention it should any of us write about our experience. She mentioned something about people feeling misled that it's an AYCE joint when it really isn't. She also asked not to let the built-in table grill and blower's non-operating status affect our reviews. So, yeah, we all walked out feeling a bit confused about that. Their menu is clearly marked ALL YOU CAN EAT BBQ (see attached picture.) So, we all weren't really sure how to interpret all that... But we made it a point to tell her we didn't really care we weren't able to use the new equipment since we all really enjoyed our meals anyway. It was still an okay experience. Good price point for good food. I'd come back - hopefully they'll have the new equipment running by then. 3.5 stars. read more
