This is their second location in Queens. Their 1st location is in Murry Hill, Queens right by the LIRR. By far, this location is superior. It's much more spacious (2 floors) , Modern and efficient. The food comes out quickly and is always incredible and consistent. Never had a bad meal here. Cha chang Mun , noodles in. black bean sauce, the signature dish, is always fresh, perfectly seasoned and served with a mountain of noodles. Tang su yuuk, sweet and sour pork Korean style, is crunchy with mixed vegetables. Perfect balance. Jamp Bong. Spicy seafood noodle soup. Excellent portion and great seasoning and flavor. I stopped by this place to grab dinner with my friends and here's the lowdown: 1. Atmosphere & Vibe - Classic Korean-Chinese restaurant (literally, their name, "Joong Koog Jip" is what Koreans refer to K-C restaurants in Korea) decor and feel, slightly upscale and I liked that it was spacious. This is probably a good place to bring guests. 2. Food - Overall, their a la carte dishes were tasty. We ordered Tang Soo Yuk - Pork (sweet & sour pork) and Yang Jang Pi (seafood & meat in hot mustard sauce) as dishes and they did not disappoint! The pork was tender with crispy fried shell that was not greasy and not too big, like in cheap places, and the YJP was delectable when mixed in with the spicy mustard sauce they provided on the side. (Good idea to do so since some, such as my 7-yr old son, would find it too spicy/nose-numbing to eat) Wow, with dishes like these, we were excited to try our individual dishes. I ordered Pepper Jjam Jja Myun (half jjajang, half gochu jjambbong) and upon chewing the first strand of noodle, I was quite disappointed. Noodles just did not have a good bite and were so limp! Jjajang sauce just wasn't good and did its own dance apart from the sad noodles. Gochu jjambbong did have a killer soup - very nice and spicy - and the seafoods were large and fresh-tasting. But the sad noodles ruined that. Luckily, their customary free dessert, Mat Tang (candied sweet potato), was pretty sweet & crunchy. Came here for lunch after a day out with my mom and my kids. Decided to try this place after my mom said she heard good things about it. The service was okay, didn't like the waitress that was serving us but the other waiters were good. We ordered shrimp fried rice, fried dumplings, jam poong, and jap chae bap. Decided to come here for lunch because I was craving some good jjajjangmyeong. I came here with my 7 month old daughter and was quickly seated. They asked if I wanted a highchair, but since they have booths I refused one. The male Korean waiter was quite off. My friend and I ordered the spicy jjajjangmyeong. He raised his eyebrows and said it's very spicy. We asked if it could be just spicy instead and he said ok. When it came, it was very spicy. Not one bit of spiciness was toned down. Luckily we could eat spicy so it wasn't a big problem, except all I tasted was spice and not jjajjang flavor. The free dessert was nice. Shortly after I ended up with food poisoning. This was the only place I ate at all day. Besides a small homemade English muffin, this was the only other thing I ate. Therefore, 1 star for the kinda rude and off waiter and food poisoning. I came by with a friend for lunch on Saturday and was seated right away - the location is pretty spacious. We ordered the (Spicy Ja Jang Myun), (Seafood Jja Jang myun), and (fried chicken covered in spicy sauce). My friend really likes this place for their Spicy Ja Jang Myun, which I must warn is pretty spicy. It was not my favorite, but I was a bit disappointed in my seafood jja jang myun. It didn't have much flavor to it and I ate maybe about half of it. I did like the ra jo ji (fried chicken) dish - it went well with the jalapenos they have on the table. An okay place...quality seems to go down and I've been here a few times since their first opening. The food is ok but there are a other Korean Chinese places within the area. The environment is wide, bright and clean which is always a plus for me. Waitresses were friendly and they explained the dishes and told me what's good on my first visit. But it's sometimes hard to get their attention. Of course my go to is the black bean noodles, jjampoong is also a classic. Also they give sweet candied fried dough balls. My last visit/attempt to dine here was sort of weird and also a bit disappointing...I arrived 1.5 hours before their posted closing time and they locked their doors. I also saw a few other customers inside eating so I knocked on the door and waved to the guy at the desk. But all he did was laughed and waved us off from his desk---seriously? There was no sign indicating if there was a party or event, and there were clearly tables available. My friend vowed not to come here again after that incident. Ended up dining at another restaurant that offered the same cuisine. If I do plan to eat here again I'll come at least 2 hours earlier for now on. But with multiple restaurants with the same food, the chances of dining here again is now quite slim. read more

Not sure if there was a change in management as I see many 5 year reviews from years ago and the recent reviews are 3 stars or less. First I want to start off with the inattentive service. We had to wait several minutes trying to get someone's attention to place our order. We requested hot water for me mom and instead they brought us over caffeinated tea for dinner. I then asked if they had hot water, the waiter told me no. I'm not sure how you can have tea without hot water.... Secondly the food was mediocre. None of the flavors really stood out. The flavor was perfect for chinese/Korean food. The dessert they gave us was fried dough with corn, which was very interesting. I would recommend for large groups, and family. Jjajangmyun: big chunky pieces of meat and veggies, sauce is not super salty so those chunky bits or yellow radish help to kick it up if you're looking for extra oomph. Very good. Kkanpoongi: slightly tangy and spicy sauce with jalapeño and dried tianjin red peppers (my fav), crispy not greasy perfectly fried meat. Loved this! Felt full but didn't feel all sleepy and gross after so def plus! The phone order receiver person is not the friendliest but is working hard running orders so please be kind and patient. Sinks are by the front entrance so hand washing is super easy - a definite plus during these times. There's plenty of seafood and the broth is rich with a good amount of heat just the way I like. It quenched my spicy soup craving in the best way possible. We also ordered the beef tangsooyuk. I am a huge fan of jajangmyeon (noodles in black bean sauce), a HUGE fan! I was brought here by a friend to satisfy our Friday night korean cravings. So we ordered 2 jajangmyeons and 1 order of sweet and sour fried chicken. The fried chicken as you'd expect from any KFC (that's Korean Fried Chicken for you newbies) was friggin great, super crispy crispy crispy as expected. And the portions were HUGE. You are taking home leftovers no matter how deep your stomach is. And the price? About $7-8 for my huge platter of noodles. The chicken was about $18 but it can probably feed 3-4 people..! I also love how they bring you the noodles at full length (so like 2 feet long) and then place a pair or scissors that you can use to cut the noodles to your heart's desire. In terms of jajagmyeun and related dishes from this theme of restaurants, this is the go to restaurant in the Flushing/Bayside/Oakland Garden area. The lady that came to take our order seemed kinda annoyed idk why, but after we all told her what we want, she confirmed with us and then left. Food wise I think their jajeongmyeong was pretty good and the portion was huge for the price. I was so full after finishing it. They gave us dumplings on the house I guess cuz we were a huge group. They gave us two plates, one on each side of the table which I think is pretty good. We also ordered tangsoo chicken and tangsoo beef with sauce on the side. I never had it before and I never really liked food with tangsoo sauce, but surprisingly they taste pretty good. I liked the chicken one more than the beef one. Parking wise it wasn't that hard as it's right next to residential area, so I just parked like a block away and walked there. Apparently they do have customer parking but only two spots...it's behind their store. At the end of the meal, they give u these honey glazed balls, not sure how it was made, but it's soooo good. I visited this restaurant with my friends on Jan 28.2019.The black bean noodle(Jjajangmyun) taste was good. But the attitude of the waitress is terrible. I ordered cold jellyfish but she brought it wrong, I asked her to change it, she just stood there holding it.I asked several times to take back but she refused to take back and keep saying " What am I gonna do with this food?" Eating at a place like this, their Jjampong and Jjajang Myun, are supposed to be main dishes that should taste great. First off, Jjampong just tasted like nothing. There was BARELY any noodles...definitely not enough for such a big bowl like this. There was a good amount of seafood but it felt like there was more seafood (mainly squid) than noodles. Beef tang soo yuk: we had the sauce come in a separate bowl so it woukdnt be soggy by the end of our meal. The meat was fried very well, there was not a huge thick coating of the fried batter around it like many other restaurants do. The sauce was perfect for me- not too sour and not too sweet. Despite this dish's negative reputation, Joong Koog Jip whips up a mean batch of egg fried rice and tops it off with a ketchup design that Picasso himself would be jealous of. The salty-savory rice is seasoned pleasantly and meshed ever-so-well with the sweet ketchup. The delicate egg adds a neutral buttery layer to break up the flavorful opposing forces. Unfortunately, Joong Koog Jip couldn't make a pleasant Don Katsu. Sure, it was crispy. Sure, the texture was nearly perfect; however, it was insatiably bland. They might as well have fried some cardboard, added food coloring, and I would be none the wiser. It really doesn't help that they topple a healthy portion of plain white rice on the side. I came here for Father's Day and I did not look at the menu at all. Since it's Father's Day, the Korean father picked everything and I just sat down to enjoy the foods. First of all, the service was quick. The foods came out so quick after we placed the order. They also brought plenty of plates for us to change so we don't mix the flavors with the other dishes which was great because I prefer to try the dish before it gets contaminated by other flavors. All of the dishes were good. The free desserts were super hot. Definitely let it cool down before attempting to eat it. This place is definitely family friendly. This place definitely has gotten better recently and it all starts with some real good kimchi. With amazing prices, it almost makes you want to order everything on the menu so you can crush the leftovers at home. I always start off with either the Tang Sooyuk or the Gangpoo Saewoo (sweet & spicy shrimp) and you always have to get either jajangmyun or jampong. Order the jamjamyun to get the best of both worlds and their jajang sauce is very savory with their flavorful jampong broth that has the right amount of kick and a whole seafood feast on top. Finish off with the amazing little dessert balls they dish out for free. I don't even know what they are honestly but try them and you won't be disappointed. There was only like 2-3 feet between my car and the dumpster but okay. We don't normally eat very salty food but thought all of their dishes were under seasoned. Jajang myun - the description said there was pork and vegetables. The pork wasn't in small chunks like I've always had it. Instead it was ground pork in very tiny pieces. I honestly didn't like the texture. The sauce wasn't overwhelmed by too many onions, zucchini or potatoes. Weird Jampong - there was ample seafood. Think of it as Jampong without the broth. Mapo tofu - we got the lunch portion because we have never had it before. The description said there was beef but we didn't see any. For a lunch portion there was a lot of food. Unfortunately there was no taste. It tasted like tofu and the jalapenos in the sauce. There was really no flavor to the sauce. Overall: Would I go again? Probably not. There are too many Korean Chinese restaurants in the area that are a lot better. The restaurant had an A rating but the kitchen door in the parking area was open when we left and it looked quite gross.
