A juice bar with reggae playing just within sight of the beach and on the streetcar line, this place delivered me a gratuitous sugar bomb that I in no way needed but which nonetheless made my visit a vacation. Mostly, they do juices and acai bowls and smoothies, but it turns out that you can get a waffle with acai smoothie on top, which is somehow gluten-free. Let it not be said that juice bar food is inherently healthy. Nor even, that getting acai flavored ice on a waffle is a particularly good way of doing it. But nonetheless, it was a satisfying indulgence. This place has San Fransisco level prices, but in exchange for the privilege of having something vegetarian I can eat near the beach and the park, I will let them have a decent review. read more

First time checking this place out while I'm in San Francisco for the SF Marathon. I'm a long time vegan and was happy to find a place near the SF Marathon expo but first impression was bad. There was a sign on the front door handwritten telling us that they're closing early due to lack of staff. I arrived 10 mins before they said they were closing and asked the woman at the register if she was still taking orders. Off the back she seemed annoyed and reluctantly said yes after giving us a little bit of an attitude. I was rushed to order while receiving more attitude and eye rolls. After I ordered I changed my mind before she started making the first order and I wasn't even told of the lower price difference. Food was decent but the customer service that day was horrible by the young lady, I probably would never go back. First impressions are everything. read more

Everything is really healthy here - so I come here when I'm in that kind of a mood. When I want something fried or bready - I go to Beach'N Cafe just down the block. Taking the N-Judah to the end of the line is about as close to an urban adventure as I get in my cloistered life south of Market, but I steeled myself for the journey to try this locally popular vegan spot. I'm not a vegan, but I play one on TV. OK, I don't but every once in a while, I eat vegan to see if my palate could survive the raw movement if just for one meal. The answer is yes though I'd be lying if I said I developed a hankering for it after my experience here. That's not to say anything was prepared badly here. On the contrary, it was expertly prepared with fresh ingredients, but... At least for my unsophisticated taste buds, the flavors were just elusive. I decided to try the $13 Dark Side of the Shroom, which presented a huge tamarind-marinated portobello mushroom stuffed with zucchini, marinated kale, cauliflower, bell pepper, and onion and placed in a bed of sprouts. It was quite a pretty plate, but I think the pure rawness of the ingredients simply didn't coalesce into an impactful flavor punch. This is a solid vegan place. They have some unique entrees and the few I've had have all been bomb. That being said, I usually can't resist just getting the waffle. They have a small baked good section as well. The place has a very neighborhood-y vibe and the line/wait can sometimes be long on the weekends. It's one of the only place in the Sunset that makes acai bowls (if i'm wrong, please correct me), so it seems pretty popular for that. My bf and I ordered the jungle bowl to split and we thought it was just mediocre. The acai mix was good, however it doesn't have as many toppings as other acai bowls that we've had. I wish there was more fruit topping or honey, and the banana topping is a pretty small portion. There's options to add toppings of course, but we didn't really want to pay for it lol. My friends got the burrito, curry special, pancakes, salad, and smoothie. Everyone loved all what they ordered! Oh Judahlicious, your acai bowls are oh-so-delicious. I legit think this is the most awesome bowl of acai in SF. Move over disappointing Bowl D'Acai! The trek to the sunset was definitely worth it, and the wait wasn't very long given how popular this spot is. Well onto the food: the acai texture is amazing and the base is very soft and sweet. The portion size is actually rather large so I would recommend sharing with someone! The granola is also the perfect acai bowl granola (you connossieurs would know that the granola makes the difference!) It's a very simple acai bowl but everything is qual-i-tee. Of course, if you're like me, I will convince my mind that acai is very healthy for you despite what the sugar volume may suggest... but still better than ice cream right? Service was also horrible as we waited 5 mins at the order counter for someone to say hello and take our order. They also messed up the dishes and didn't include the salad that came with the dish. Only thing was that where it said basmati rice we received two orders with brown rice. I would have liked to be informed of that since it is a completely different texture and we were ordering for basmati rice. But other than that, the food is good and even though i didn't get to order it I appreciate them having raw vegan foods. SF definitely needs more places like this that can make raw vegan wraps and entrees, smoothies and juices. The chocolate cake was also good, usually raw vegan cakes are a little bit dense from the date and nut blend but this one was fluffier and paired with chocolate mousse which made it smooth So I also came here many years ago (7 or 8?) when I was first starting out vegan and just like that first time, I was excited by everything on the menu and took a friend to try it out, but it was a little bit of a let down for my non-vegan companions. It's not bad, but also not the best I've had. It might also be that mix of cooked and raw options now as well? Whereas fully raw vegan flavors can be amazing, but incorporating cooked foods sometimes changes the standards on the flavors. I think going in with the right expectations would help. I would probably come here mostly for raw vegan cravings but not necessarily the cooked food. If you come with a raw vegan mentality, then the dates and almond texture of the cake/desserts makes more sense. But if you come with the expectation of a glutinous cake, then the dates can be a bit overwhelming. Having been raw vegan previously I do find that I prefer to lower the ratio of dates to nuts and bulk it out with more almond/pecans/walnuts or oats for the crust so it isn't overly date -y because it can be too strong of a taste for many. I've had so many variations on raw desserts and my preference tends to be for more of the creaminess over the date/nut mixture (think Lara bar). Raw cheesecakes are still more flavorful than the conventional dairy cheesecake and less dense. Raw desserts are rich and decadent, nourishing and luxurious. I'd like to see more of a crubmly dry/savory crust though. My favorite dessert was the Lemon Priobiotic Square from Ping's. That was really good. I hope the next time I come I can get the raw foods - i really wanted to try the burrito and tacos. I would probably re-review this place based off of the raw food. read more

Being vegetarian, I've been wanting to try Judahlicious for ages, so when my omnivore friends in the avenues suggested it for brunch, I was thrilled. My boyfriend got the Burmosa and being the new year diet season, I decided to order off the raw menu and get the "Dark Side of the Shroom". Judahlicious being the hippy restaurant it is, I was fully expecting Kombucha to be served, however, that wasn't on the menu. Actually no iced drinks were available because apparently they don't have any ice? Even though they have smoothies? Anywho we just ended up getting water, no prob. The small interior was pretty packed with around 2 dozen people inside. I think we were there at a bustling time in the early afternoon on a warm day. Luckily we were able to find a table for our group of 4. The food came out fairly quickly and the presentation was impressive. My shroom dish was gorgeous, and, as advertised, was fully raw. I naively thought the mushroom would be cooked, but it was marinated and very tasty still. My Boyfriend's Burmosa was also very good. It was filled with potatoes and topped with a curry sauce. The walnut parmesan and kale toppings were good, but not nearly as loaded as our neighbors, giving my boyfriend major FOMO. All in all, though, it was a great meal in a peaceful and sunny environment that left us feeling full but happy (in the good kind of way) for standard SF brunch prices. Judahaliscious has 5 vegan smoothies 5 dairy smoothies 3 vegan breakfast options until 2pm 6 juices 3 salads 3 raw vegan entrees 6 vegan entrees 2 Acai Bowls They also have the special Vegan Burmosa on Sat & Sun until sold out. For beverages they have coffee, tea, & Yerba Mate For desert they have vegan pudding & vegan cheesecake along w/ some raw vegan cookies Lots of people were there & was happy that everyone was enjoying some vegan food. I ordered the Half Nekked Burrito. At $12 it was the most costly item on the menu. It featured house made organic corn tortilla stuffed w/ black beans, rice, grilled veggies, sliced avocado, topped w/ fresh vegetables, house goji dressing, sprouts, & vegan walnut parmesan It took about 20 minutes for the Half Nekked Burrito to arrive yet was well worth it once it arrived. The staff here are super nice & know that it is shared communal dining. There are a few tables inside & several tables for sitting outside. The Outer Sunset has a reputation for being foggy yet yesterday was a sunny day. I thoroughly enjoyed the Half Nekked Burrito & the good size salad w/ tasty dressing that it came with. The Half Nekked Burrito was nourishing, tasty, & healthy. The Half Nekked Burrito wasn't at all spicy yet was just fine as it was as know a Taqueria in the Mission where one of the salsas has raw habaneros w/ seeds which am fine w/o that for sometime. They are located across the street from a surf shop. There is a full size surfboard that hangs on the wall & several paintings of surfers. I was a surfer in a small beach town in FL growing up so appreciated the surfing vibe here. I recommend checking it out if in the area & look forward to future visits here. read more

On July 11th, i approached the line before closing. As I approach the door to be the next person to order, a worker gets the open sign and reverses it to CLOSED 3 minutes before closing time and does not acknowledge myself nor the other customers in line. No effort or sense of providing a notice to those waiting outside ( which are unaware that they have just closed). That's horrible customer service. Just because Customers were not waiting in line inside the building (due to covid) does not mean you have to disregard them. 4.5 stars! Judahlicious is hipster heaven. Most of the food selection is vegan, the staff are all wearing beanies, and there's a casual, Berkeley-like vibe to the place, which was absolutely bustling on a Sunday morning. The menu is full of healthy-sounding foods like juices, smoothies, acai, as well as a bunch of creative vegan dishes. It took me forever to realize what their weekend special, the "Burmosa," was supposed to be. It's not a Burmese-influenced dish (like I originally thought), it's a cross between a burrito and a samosa! Inside a soft, homemade corn tortilla came a filling of curry potato, black beans, veggies, and sliced avocado. But the visual appeal was half the fun of this dish--the filled burrito was drizzled over with three different house sauces: a red sesame tomato sauce, a white cashew creme, and a green tomatillo sauce! What a rainbow of colors, and what a delicious combination of flavors! The entire "wet burrito" was then topped off with a small heap of kale along with a vegan "walnut parmesan" (made of nutritional yeast). This was a delicious dish that came at a great value! I also tried the (interestingly named) Jungle Style Acai Bowl, which was two scoops of blended, frozen acai mixture topped with sliced banana and their housemade granola. The acai mixture was slightly sweet and a nice cooling treat that contrasted nicely with the crunchy granola made of sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and buckwheat with no added sugars. I've been way too spoiled by the acai bowls at Vitality Bowls, that's for sure. The acai bowls here are only okay - the fruit, granola, and acai ratio could be better. I honestly think there's way too much acai and wish there was more variety with fruits without adding an additional fee. Perhaps it's because I've only ordered their acai bowls to go. But I feel like even then, just looking at it, there's barely any fruit. Only a couple slices of banana at the top. At a little over $9 (with tax), you'd think you'd get more for your money, but nope. One of my Vegan friends was visiting SF this weekend, and the last vegan place we had been to together was not great, so I wasn't sure how much I'd like this place. However, Judahlicious totally changed my mind about Vegan food. The cashier recommended the Burmosa, which is the special on Saturdays and Sundays. It was awesome, the potatoes and cashew sauce were great and the curry sauce was delicious. By far the best Vegan food I've ever had. Take your non-Vegan friends if you wanna convert them! The restaurant respects social distancing- only one customer is allowed inside the restaurant at a time, and masks are mandatory. On a random weekday morning, I decided to try Judahlicious for the first time, as my life is becoming more gluten-free and plant-based. Yum. Was a bit early, so I waited, and they opened exactly on time (for some reason that pleased me greatly. It's the little things). I have one cup of coffee a day, and so, if it's not good, it's a bummer. They serve Due Torri Coffee and it was delicious. First time trying oat milk, that was delicious, too. Drove down to the beach and ate my gluten-free waffle with açaí in the sun, cell-phone free so I didn't take pictures. I enjoyed that breakfast immensely, especially when I looked down at my stomach, which remained flat and lovely after a gluten-free filling meal. Our go to açaí bowl ($9.5) spot. Big portion of açaí and granola, but small portion of fruit toppings. Call ahead for takeout, or order at the counter. Indoor seating for ~10. Açaí has a banana base which makes it a bit thicker and less melty than other açaí spots, and also makes it a bit sweeter so you don't really need to add honey. Granola is light, has seeds, and is not really sweetened. Granola portion is generous so you get a bit of granola in every bite. Banana slices are on top as well as atop the bottom layer of granola, assembled like a parfait. When ordering your açaí bowl to go, their cup covers are flat (not rounded to accommodate the toppings), so just ask them to cover with saran wrap. read more

My boyfriend ordered the stir fry, which was super disappointing. It was literally a bowl of rice. There were barely any veggies in it. You could hardly call it a meal. The whole thing was a flop, but my deepest regret was ordering the $8.50 "tonic" juice. Not only was it tasteless with a weird texture, it was served room temperature, making it even harder to stomach. I live down the street but I won't come here again. A friend and I came here after a morning hike in Land's End and both got the Acai Bowl with peanut butter (house-made!). The whole bowl was so filling and refreshing! Although with the $2.00 add-on for the peanut butter the total was a little high for a snack (~$12), I think it would substitute fine for a regular meal. Judahlicious attracts a number of yogis and casual morning drop-ins. I will keep this place in mind for when I'm nearby again and want a filling and healthy bite. I will never get an Açaí bowl from Judahlicious ever again. There were pieces of rubber spatula in BOTH açaí bowls I ordered today. This seems to be an issue of quality control in their kitchen, since their spatula was clearly so worn down that it broke into my açaí bowls. The first bowl had a piece of plastic, but luckily I was still outside the restaurant. I brought it inside and they said it was a piece of plastic that broke off from their spatula and they refunded me for that bowl only. Once I got home, I soon realized inside of the SECOND açaí bowl, there was another piece of plastic!!! Thankfully I didn't swallow these pieces and I hope I didn't eat any by accident. Hauntingly bad pancakes. I don't know what has happened to this place! The pancakes used to be small moist and delicious. The pancakes I had yesterday were bigger, dry, flavourless, neither sweet or salty, crumbly, and truly awful. I don't know if it's the high rate of employee turn over or just poor management.
