My wife and I bought a home nearby. We ordered take out one evening... and " take out" is what we both said to each other: " you take it out", no, " you take it out". Both of us rated our food as a 1/5. We barely touched it. Being good people who don't waste food, we recycle, etc, I took the food outside and left it for neighborhood animals; ie coyotes, deer, any animal rather than waste it. Food was disgusting, service was very poor, the place was very very dirty. A bunch of patrons drinking at the bar. In the parking lot, I saw some patrons leaving in what I believe to a intoxicated state. Grafton Police are often in that neighborhood, hopefully if people are driving under the influence, the Police can decide? For us... it was a " painful, disappointing one and done ". Giving this restaurant a 3 makes me sad. We were so excited to find a casual classic backwoods Wisconsin type spot for Friday night fish. The drinks are good, the food good. Service prompt. Sadly you get a 3 because of the waitress we had last weekend. She was efficient but she was at best hostile. It was a special occasion and I looked forward to bringing my family to what we had felt was a hidden gem of a spot. We ate, we drank but honestly she was straight up rude to my elderly parents and I was embarrassed that I spoke so highly of the place. The male bartender also was incredibly rude to my daughter. We are new to the area and had been looking forward to this being our go to spot. I don't know if we will be back. Customer service is important whether you are busy or not. read more

The food is nothing special, mediocre at best. The atmosphere is of a north woods supper club which in my opinion is great. The staff is hit or miss sometimes they are the friendlies people in the world and other times you are treated like a burden. The bar is small but nice you can pick out the regulars by where the bartender (who I also think is the owner) is standing and talking. Like I said this place is nothing special but I see why some people enjoy it. For my wife and I we like our restaurants a little more consistent. read more

Ran out for a last minute dinner and glad we stopped here. Was only looking for soup and sandwich but I'm I glad I settled for the queen cut prime rib. Cooked perfectly, extremely tender and tasty. I wanted to like it here, but after our experience I don't think we will return. We dined on what was probably one of the busiest nights of the year, Valentine's Day. We didn't have reservations but were seated because we were there early enough. Our waitress was very friendly. Explained the specials well. I ordered the prime rib and French onion soup, the soup was delicious-but I didn't come there for soup. The prime rib came out on a plate of au jus, probably a half inch deep. any where else I've ever ordered prime rib, it's come out with the au jus on the side. The au jus was so incredibly salty that it covered up any flavor in the meat. The meat was sub par at best, I ended up pushing close to half of it to the side because I couldn't cut thru it. Then came the matter of the owners wife badmouthing our waitress loud enough that we could hear her. When the waitress brought our check, I put our card in and stood it up so that she knew it was ready to take. The owners wife walked by and grabbed it and went into the back. Then a couple minutes later the owners wife came up and said "did she bring your card back?" I said no, and she then looked at the waitress and said "what did you do with her card?" The waitress looked very puzzled and said "I never took it"-which she didn't, so then the owners wife stormed in the back and said (yelled)"honey yes you did have it you took it!" Well surprise but the owners wife walked out of the back with it and said "don't worry we found where she put it". I have a real issue with employers who belittle their servers in front of customers like that, it's just not cool. Good food and service. Atmosphere was traditional bar, but we did go around 3 PM so not a traditional meal time. My boyfriend ordered the blackened chicken wrap and he said it was very good. I had the Philly cheese steak which was good, very meaty and I loved that the cheesy was actually stringy (so good cheese, not the fake stuff). Definitely would go back again. read more

Ordered haddock beer battered fish fry for carry out. The order was ready quickly and pretty good, but not great. The fish had nice flavor, but only two pieces. It came with cole slaw (ok), rye bread (very good), choice of potato (we chose a baked potato and potato pancake). Unfortunately the baked potato did not come with butter, but it did come with sour cream. Not a big deal since we had butter at home. The potato pancakes were very generic and lacked flavor compared to others. I question if they were freshly made or pre-made bought from a supplier. The fish was very good with nice flavor. Overall it was pretty good, better than most in Ozaukee County but still not what I would call great. However, it was one visit, so it may well be better next time and it's nice to have a locally owned restaurant, so I do recommend this place. UPDATE: On second thought, choose wisely as we both suffered from some serious 'after-effects' for two days. Neither of us became violently ill, but we did have a number of unfortunate 'reminders' of the taste and smell of the food for the next couple of days, if you know what I mean..... read more

Ok this is my first ever post, this restaurant inspired me to spread the word. I am traveling through and stopped in the Ghost Town for dinner. The pretzel crusted walleye was crispy, flaky, delicious. I had it with sweet potato fries with special seasoning, a real treat. read more

Went with a group. 2 had grilled fish and both were raw in the middle. Owner was not there but his "girlfriend" manager was and she was rude and unaccommodating. She actually took a shot before she came to talk to the gentlemen (who asked to speak to HER, not her coming to apologize to them) about the check. None of the group will return. read more

Super old school place, kind of like a supper club with a diverse menu. From sandwiches to steaks and everything in between. The wait staff is mostly attentive and the bartenders are rather entertaining. Food is usually very good and fish frys here are pretty solid. Good choice when in the general area! read more

Driving back to Chicago we happened to get off at the exit in Grafton looking for a place to eat dinner. Using YELP and Google maps we found a couple of area restaurants and this one had good reviews so we decided to give it a try. The place is very old school looking but not in a run down way. The waitress was extremely attentive and very nice. We had no idea what to expect but it smelled great in there. All the food came out and was delicious. The Ribeye and prime rib were perfectly cooked and very flavorful. I will definitely be back when I pass through the area again! read more

We were looking for a place to get a good steak for my birthday dinner; thought from the website and menu that this might be one. Unfortunately it did not live up to expectations. The food was way over priced for the quality... $30 steak and we had to send it back because it was way over done. Ordered medium and received very well done. When they brought the new steak out is was "blue". I will say the special Wednesday prime rib was good. The side and salad left me wanting however. The salad was a plate full of iceberg lettuce with one slice of carrot and cucumber each and a small wedge of tomato. The side I choose was fries and it was comparable in size to a small fry any fast food chain. My dinner mates got baked potatoes that had been over cooked, They were dry as can be. The service was not spectacular either. I waited for 15 min to receive a drink from the bar, the bar was not busy mind you. I could see my drink just sitting there waiting for the server to get it. After a extremely long wait we received our dinners and when we were finally asked how they were we pointed out that the steak was over cooked. The server had to check with the kitchen to see if they had time to redo the steak... had time... ha! What a waste of time and money! In addition the whole place needs a good cleaning not that anything was gross but it could use a good dusting and scrub down. read more

They have great fish fries here. It's always busy and there's pretty much always a wait but never for too long. I've always had good service but their drinks are hit or miss. If you get fish on a Friday night the food comes out within a few minutes. The restaurant itself is pretty dim and looks kind of shabby (especially the outside) but everything inside is nice and clean. read more

Sadly may have been the worst perch I've ever had. I love love love a good fish fry. Have had many amazing perch fries around Wisconsin and this one did not meet expectations. We were brought to the "back" dining room. It was quaint. And by quaint I mean stuffed full of people barely able to push our chair without hitting people next to us. And also loud because a lot of people talking in a small room. Our server was super nice and attentive. Our fish came. One look and I asked my husband if he was over cooked too. The breading was dark brown and layered on thick. I purposely get breaded over beer battered for a less thick breading. We both took a bite and it was not delicious. She offered to send it back. We were starving so I hesitated but she brought our fries back to nibble on while we waited. The second batch. The same. I cut into mine and it dropped out watery liquid all over my plate I cut another filet in half and it too was all watery on the inside and crusty brown on the outside. The fries were good though. The waitress explained it's the oil from cooking fish over and over. ( umm. Time to change the oil? ). I think our server was afraid to come back after we were done ( which was 30 seconds later) because neither my husband nor I ate more than 1 bite She was friendly and I know it was not her fault the food was terrible. But we ended up paying full price for two meals that were not touched ( no offer of a discount swapping something else. Free dessert etc which isn't always expected but a nice touch when someone is clearly unhappy) Sadly we won't be back. read more

When you first pull up the building looks like a ghost town but the food inside is anything but. Built in 1902 it is one of only 5 buildings left from the once thriving community (love when the placemats share the story of the place). I sat at the bar for dinner. Bartender served me drinks but I also had a waitress take my food order and serve me. I have to say I liked that a lot. Gives you the individual attention that sometimes the bartender is too busy to give. I ordered the Mahi Mahi special and it was cooked to perfection! Flaky and moist. I didn't even need the pesto lemon sauce that came on the side (even though that was also very good). I opted out of the potatoes and got the grilled asparagus and carrots. I don't know what was on the carrots but they were fantastic! Cooked just enough to where they still had a snap but didn't break my teeth on them and they were sweet. The asparagus was grilled but was on the grill way too long and left a bitter taste on my pallet (reason for deducting a star since I couldn't get that burnt taste out of my mouth).
