Juicy Dumpling Factory opened in North Redondo Beach in the old Denny's and failed Ayan location. Juicy Dumpling Factory (JDF) is the latest and most promising of the plethora of Chinese restaurants specializing in dumplings to open in the South Bay. I had a craving for their beef rolls which is hard to find in the South Bay. The beef roll standard are the ones served at 101 Noodle Express in Alhambra. The JDF beef rolls fall a little short of this standard, but definitely got the taste and flavors right. The beef was not warm or hot and the amount of beef was on the light side. However, overall, I would rate the beef rolls at JDF as good. No need to drive to the San Gabriel Valley for a beef roll. I also ordered their mango iced tea which was made and served as if you were at a typical boba shop. I would have ordered it at 50% or less sugar level if the option was offered. Service was great and attentive and ordering was fairly easy. JDF is a welcomed addition in upgrading the dining scene in North Redondo Beach. I am definitely a fan and look forward to trying their dumplings and stir fry dishes to mostly likely to my delight in the coming weeks. read more

The food here is very tasty and fresh. There was not one item here I did not enjoy. Service was quick and friendly , restaurant is new and has a chill vibe to it. Building used to be a Denny's. Mapo Tofu was tasty and mildly spicy, you have to order steamed rice to go along with its. Beef rolls were filling and the herbs were refreshing. Ambiance--walk in and be greeted by the large, open dining are with plenty of comfy tables and booths. The smell of Chinese cooking oil reminds you of the best holes-in-the-wall, authentic restaurants...but this is no hole in the wall! (Ample free parking too, front and back!) Spicy Cucumber salad--as an appetizer--is enough for 4, with fresh garlic, sesame oil, and fresh (HOT!) red chilis that give it just the right amount of medium spice!). Zingy garlic resonates and thrills the palate in every bite. Dry fried green beans (also with garlic and black beans) was a little oilier than expected. But the green beans were fresh and done al dente--I was expecting more wok hai/charring, but not this time, I guess. Still, the black beans gave a burst of salt and umami-ness with each bite. Scallion Pancakes--while crispy, thin, and well fried in the wok, they were lacking in scallions and a good dipping sauce. I could have used the table-side soy sauce, vinegar, and chili oil to make my own, but I didn't have a small dish for that. ‍ Average for scallion pancakes. Finally, the pièce de résistance--crispy pan fried chicken dumplings. Wowza!!! Hot, fresh plump, with that crispy/delicate lattice-work of the pan-fry oils and a little rice flour. The dipping sauce was a well-balanced vinegar and garlic concoction (gotta get a tub of that to go!). And the dumplings were everything you'd expect from a "juicy dumpling factory/house"!! 4.5 out of 5. Prices were a bit steep for the veggie dishes, but I get that fresh veggies prepared well cost. Recently opened and close proximity to our favorite bakery (Tommy & Atticus) -- welcome Juicy Dumpling Factory! They've got a waitlist tablet at the entry and we didn't wait more than 15 minutes on a Saturday at lunch time. We came hungry and tried an assortment from their menu. We were sad they were out of custard buns so we'll have to come back to try those. All of the dumplings were delicious. Service was fast and friendly! The manager (I think) was kind and checked in on us during our meal and offered us a complementary dish to our delight. The restaurant and bathroom were clean. This place hits the spot for Chinese/Taiwanese food. The chive pork and shrimp pan fried dumplings and the beef rolls were the favorite here. The beef noodle soup was ok but lacked a lot of flavor. A dumpling is a dumpling is a dumpling. I may have an unpopular opinion of these juicy dumplings: I just don't see, or taste the hype. Sure they're plump and juicy and cute to look at, but these pork dumplings didn't possess anything that made me want more than one. He plopped them in his spicy beef noodle soup for some extra texture. And that's about all I can say about these or any other dumplings and any other dumpling establishments, they simply miss the mark for me. We noshed on broccoli beef, chicken chow mein and spring rolls tonight. Everything was hot and tasty, especially the broccoli, I liked it best. The entree to me was the most flavorful. I attempted to amp up the spice with the chili oil on the chow mein, but the chili just wasn't spicy despite several generous spoonfuls. It was also the driest chili oil I have ever seen. So there's that. Spring rolls were tasty, we amped up the sauce with the chili "oil", but again, it didn't make a difference. They were crispy and decent, we'd order them again...and maybe ask for hot mustard next time. I don't even know if they have spicy mustard. I enjoyed the meal, but made note that everything was basically bland. I feel like I needed much more spice or more veggies or, actually I'm not certain what I needed, i just know the flavor profiles weren't anything to celebrate. My belly was full and we have tons of leftovers. He would have loved an extra side of broth for his soup, but the young staff wasn't able to accommodate without a manager's okay; unfortunately no manager was available - the manager was gone for the day. The restaurant is sort of clinical, and service was acceptable, although little details were missed (drinks, napkins, a visit from the server), which baffles me because the prices signal an elevated experience where those details shouldn't be missed. Empowering the young folks to make decisions is lacking quite a bit these days. Post pandemic service skills have declined, am I wrong? Plenty of parking. Overall the meal was acceptable but it will be great when they can offer beer...which is "coming soon". Check this place out. It has taken over where the old Denny's used to be. Once I walked in, staff sat me down at a booth. There are a line of booths, tables for two down the center of the room, and tables for four along the window. There are a couple tables for six facing the door. Condiments and utensils are set at the tables. I was given a menu and order form. You check off what you want on the piece of paper, front and back. I ordered the recommended juicy chicken dumplings, dry-fried string beans, and garlic noodles with chicken. The string beans were delivered first. Hot, fresh, and so good. I heard the cook sautéing the dish. It was very flavorful, with just the right amount of salt. The garlic noodles were delivered next. The chicken was juicy and tender. The noodles were long and a perfect consistency. I could cut them with the side of my fork. So good. Lastly, I received the dumplings, which were much smaller than I expected, but flavorful. All the food was served hot and freshly made. Absolutely delicious. If this restaurant was closer to home, I could eat here every day. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because the place doesn't really have a vibe in terms of decor. Staff are friendly and efficient. Juicy Dumpling Factory is the newest addition to the Redondo Beach dining experience. The first thing to say about this restaurant is that the food here is very-very good. Just the right amount of flavor and spice. Making it a great dining experience no matter what you choose to eat from their menu. This restaurant is located at the structure that used to house Denny's on the corner of Artesia and Aviation. For those of us from the South Bay area we know that Denny's was there for decades. Since it's leaving, there have been other dining establishments that have taken shape here, but none so good as Juicy Dumpling Factory. The reason I mentioned the fact that this restaurant is housed in the old Denny's structure is that once you go inside, you realize that they really have not changed the decor very much. You almost feel like you're still in Denny's. Whereas many Asian fusion restaurants design their interior to reflect the heritage of their cuisine, this is not really the case for this restaurant. It's very basic. This is not a criticism on any level, it's just something that you will experience when you walk inside. In terms of their menu, they have a lot of very good dishes. Of course, dumplings are on the top of most people's list when they go into this restaurant. I will say, just from my personal experience, the dumplings here are a little small compared to most Asian orientated restaurants that offer them. They're like one bite, whereas most restaurants that serve their dumplings as a two or three bite delicacy. This is not a criticism, just something to keep in mind. Other than that, this restaurant does have a lot of other great things to eat. They have some great noodle dishes, some great rice offerings, and some very good things like sautéed vegetables, orange flavored chicken, and the like. The food here is all very fresh. They obviously use great ingredients. And, each dish is prepared directly before it is brought to your table. So, it's not like some restaurants where the food is sitting around for long periods of time and just warmed up before they serve it. Meaning, the food they served here is very fresh. One thing I will say, you may want to wait a few minutes after your dumplings, or other dishes have arrived, before you eat them--giving them a chance to cool. Because, if you don't, as has happened to me, the very hot juice from the dumpling may explode in your mouth and on your lips. Which, as you can understand, isn't too much fun. Overall, great place to eat! The staff here are all super nice. The restaurant is very clean and airy. And, you're going to have a great dining experience with whatever you choose to eat from their menu. read more

I think I just found my new favorite dumpling spot in the South Bay! Juicy Dumpling Factory just opened up a few weeks ago and ever since I drove by, I knew I wanted to check it out. It is located at the spot where Ayan used to be, and I finally made it here. I came on a Sunday and was pleasantly surprised to see how busy it was. It is definitely a change from when it was Ayan, which used to be a bit empty. For this first visit, we got the Cold Cucumber Salad ($7.99), Crispy Tofu ($8.99), Juicy Pork Dumplings ($13.99) and Chicken Chow Mein ($14.99). The Cold Cucumber Salad was perfectly chilled and crunchy. It was bursting with flavor with a hint of spice due to all the garlic they put. Though tasty, I would've preferred a little less garlic. The Crispy Tofu was served piping hot and crisp. It comes with a side of sweet and sour sauce. I really enjoyed this starter. I loved how they were perfectly fried and seasoned. These were golden, crunchy perfection. The Chicken Chow Mein was a delight! I l loved the long, soft silky noodles. The flavors were on point and the tender chicken really enhanced this dish. I would get it again. Last but not least were the Juicy Pork Dumplings. These dumplings gives the name of this place justice. They were indeed perfectly juicy. The soft and delicate dumplings were filled a rich, flavorful soup broth. The filling was so juicy and comforting. Pro-tip add a dash of vinegar and some chili oil for some extra kick and flavor! I really enjoyed my first visit here! I don't give five stars often during a first visit to a spot but I truly enjoyed every dish I tried here. Crispy chicken dumplings, that was juicy and delicious it truly didn't need and dipping sauce. Along side the Chow mein, that was fresh, piping hot and seasoned to perfection Our drinks were off the chart for a restaurant! We ordered the Mago iced green tea. It was so good we were considering getting another to go! The inside of the factory is large, open with valted ceiling and plenty of seating.
