When you enter the restaurant, please make sure to check in on the iPad located near the door, especially if they're busy. If not, those entering after you might be seated before you because they checked in. The dining room is roomy and clean. Upon being seated, the host will drop off menus and ice cold water. The menu has pictures of several items, but wish it had more. But that's just being picky. Basically there's nothing on the menu that you can go wrong with. Everything is so delicious. I'm always thrilled when a new place opens serving my favorite Taiwanese/Shanghai classic dishes! Overall this wasn't bad for being in Redondo Beach, but if you're used to eating this type of cuisine in the San Gabriel Valley, Juicy Dumpling Factory does fall short. If you aren't able to drive out to SGV though this is a pretty solid entry for Taiwanese in the South Bay. The beef noodle soup was just OK for me. Although it was more affordable ($15) than other local restaurants serving this, it had very little beef and baby bok choy in the beef noodle soup so it didn't feel that worth it to me. Also, the broth itself felt quickly made and not as deeply rich in beef flavor as I get at other Taiwanese places. The xiaolongbao were pretty good. The wrappers tasted homemade and had a nice chewy knot on the top and there was plenty of broth inside each dumpling. Also got the beef roll, which is one of my go-tos usually. It was a solid effort, with the wrapper being on the thinner side. It was well stuffed and wrapped with nice abundant layers of cold-cut style beef on the inside. It needed more hoisin sauce. I found it telling that the man at the table next to me ordered the beef roll asking for a side of hoisin sauce, and then later again requesting more hoisin sauce -- clearly it wasn't his first time and he would agree that the beef roll is lacking in hoisin sauce! The standout was a surprise to me: the guo tie (pot stickers). I ordered because I love when a restaurant brings out a huge plate of upside down dumplings where you get to crack the top of it like it's creme brulee. But I was not expecting that the fillings would be so juicy and fresh. I ordered the one with Chinese chives, pork, and shrimp. It reminded me of the Beijing style meat pies my family would make growing up. Chef's kiss. They have a long list of boiled and fried dumplings, so maybe that's where they truly standout and not with their noodles. I'm willing to come back to give this place another shot and try some other dishes. The vibes inside still feel like a Denny's (the building used to be Ayan and previously Denny's) but it's been modernized with modern lighting. The place is pretty packed but I didn't have a wait when I went on a recent weekend afternoon. read more

One of my foodie friends and I love a great Chinese restaurant and were excited to check out Juicy Dumpling Factory from some of the reviews we've seen on social media. On a Friday evening, the place was packed with a 30 minute wait. We decided to wait it out and went to a bar down the street to get a beer and play pool. Within a half hour, our buzzer went off, in town to down our beer but not enough time to finish our game of pool. Juicy Dumpling is in the same location where Ayan used to be, which was a Denny's restaurant before that. Once seated, our server appeared with menus along with pen and ordering menu slip to mark down what items you'd like. We ordered the spicy wontons, sweet and sour spare ribs, pork & cabbage pan fried dumplings and the pork pan fried noodles. It was a lot of food for the two of us. Everything was delicious. Our favorite was the spicy wontons and the pork & cabbage pan fried dumplings. We asked our server whether it's this crowded every night. She said yes for the most part. Price wise, Juicy Dumpling is much less than DinTai. We actually prefer JD over DTF. We'll definitely be back. There's plenty of off street parking since the parking lot is shared with the now closed Rite Aid lot. read more

I dropped in to try Juicy Dumplings Factory for the first time at almost 7pm on a Thursday and the place was packed! Super easy to add my name to the waitlist on the iPad by the door and the wait was brief. I wanted to try a bunch of things (and take the rest home). I started with garlic broccoli - cooked lightly with a good snap still in each bite. It had large chunks of fresh garlic used. I ordered the chicken soup dumplings and they were tasty though not overly soupy. I dipped them in vinegar and hot chili oil (conveniently offered on every table). I want to go back to try the pork to see if there is a difference. I got the spicy shrimp dumplings and loved the scallion garnish and flavored oil and spice it was sitting in (though would have liked a little more heat if spicy is in the name). You don't have to add anything to this dumpling, just open your mouth and pop one in. I felt like I had room for one more and went with the popular Chive shrimp pork pan fried dumplings! The fillings in these are so plentiful and delicious and the presentation with the dumpling "lace" has other people asking what you are eating. Each dumpling had a full shrimp and then some. I was going to stick with the water they brought to the table - love the metal cups - but decided to try the green tea. The server recommended the mango green tea and it was delicious! It tastes like boba tea (just no boba). I asked about the yogurt drink and will probably try one next time. They make them there and it's a larger thicker drink like a smoothie. The servers were very friendly and quick to answer my questions on what to dip things into, to clear my plates, and to see if I needed anything else. The vibe inside is casual elegance with sleek more modern textures and light fixtures, but still casual enough for chilling with friends. We kept seeing this place pop up on our Instagram feed and decided to make our next dinner outing here to try it out. It's located in a little plaza so there's plenty of parking. When you get inside there's a kiosk to sign in and then you're notified by text when your table is ready. We got there around an hour and a half or so before they were closing and the wait was only 5 minutes. Staff is very attentive and once they brought our menus took our drink orders. They have a nice selection of tea options. Their menu is pretty large and if you want dumplings, buns, noodles, soups, vegetables, they have all that and some more. We tried a few different things. The fried tofu, beef noodle bowl, chicken soup dumplings, spicy wontons, and the green beans. Evening comes out in stages, but quickly and our table was filled in no time. The presentation of everything was nice. And the food was hot and fresh. The tofu had some sauces drizzled on it. Only thing we wished for is that the spicy dishes could have been spicier with a little more flavor. Other than that, great service, lots of searing, and good prices and portions. Right on the corner of Artesia and Aviation, there's a new handmade dumpling house. There aren't a lot of options for real soup dumplings in the South Bay so it's great that they have Juicy Pork Dumplings here. It's a convenient option for those who don't want to drive to Del Amo. I wouldn't get the Shrimp Spicy Wontons again, but the Chive, Shrimp, and Pork Pan Fried Dumplings are exceptional. They have a legit lattice skirt, and the filling is juicy and flavorful. Try the Beef Roll if you're not feeling dumpling. The beef inside is tender and soy-sauced just enough, with a crispy pancake wrapped around. There's not a lot of good Chinese food in the South Bay, and this is huge step in the right direction! read more

I noticed Juicy Dumpling Factory after it popped up on Yelp. We decided to check it out for dinner one night and it was crowded! I later discovered that a couple food influencers on IG made a reel about this spot which is probably why it's so busy now. The pictures looked good, so we definitely wanted to try out a few items and some people even said it was very similar to Din Tai Fung which is always so crowded at Del Amo and all of their other locations. // FOOD // Beef Roll: The beef roll hardly had any beef in it. I think it had one slice of beef per piece? Pretty skimpy with the amount of meat. It was about 10% meat while it was majority pancake, cucumbers, and green onions. 2.5/5 Shrimp Spicy Wonton: This was probably the biggest disappointment of the night. It had no flavor at all! 1/5 Dry-Fried String Bean: It was average at best in comparison to any other spot. 2.5/5 Pork and Corn Fried Dumplings: The corn was fun in the dumpling since it gave it a different texture and a slight sweetness to it. It was fried well, but the overall filling was pretty bland and definitely needed the chili oil, soy sauce, and vinegar. 2/5 Juicy Pork Dumplings: Probably the best thing of the night - had great flavor and was juicy inside. 4/5 Beef Fried Rice: I'd skip this. It was bland 2/5 Braised Beef Noodle Soup: If you're craving a broth dish with noodles, then I guess you can order this. Thanks to a massive lack of good (or any), Chinese food in the area, I have to give this place high marks. Could it better? Sure. But the dry string beans, chow mein, and potstickers are very good, and the beef roll should not be missed. Pro tip: the cucumber salad is great, but they need to dial down the garlic by 50% at least. Yes, it looks like a Denny's inside (because it was a Denny's at one time). Finally was able to try Juicy Dumpling Factory after my wife raved about their fried dumplings for weeks! Waited about 15 minutes, appreciate that they have a sign in sheet and you can check your spot in line from your phone while you wait in your car. We got a little bit of everything and it was all delicious. The two plates that stood out to me the most was the teriyaki chicken and the fried dumplings (wife wasn't lying). The teriyaki chicken was prob the best I've ever had and the same goes for the fried dumplings. The staff was super nice and very attentive and the whole restaurant was nice and clean.
