We shared the mix dumpling order and chicken noodles soup, which sounds so much simpler than the amazing flavors we experienced. The nnodles were the star, and the broth was better than most. The bowl had enough for two people. The hand-made noodles are so good! The dumplings were huge! There were 12 mixed dumplings of different wrap colors and flavors. Each was at least the size of a meatball, so we definitely could not finish them all. Did we get transported to East Asia heaven? We must come again and bring friends. Popping up on my IG feed, I knew after watching the reel on this spot that I had to check this out when in Austin. Being here during my weekend trip in January, my friend and I immediately sought this place on Monday for dumplings. Arriving a little before noon, the place was packed with no seats available. Seeing a mix of people in here, the optics gave us the impression this would be worth the wait. After ordering at the front, we noticed a table exiting and immediately jumped on it while we waited. All the dumpling options looked appetizing (I mean, when are dumplings NOT appetizing!?) but recalling my IG feed with the soup dumplings, we knew that was a must-order. We also went with the beef and carrot pan fried dumplings. My friend also ordered the scallion pancake and we also decided on the beef stewed noodle soup. One by one, our dishes made its way to us starting with the soup dumplings which were delicious. The beef and carrot dumplings also delicious with the nice crust on the bottom. Dipped it in some soy sauce and that chili oil; YUM! The beef noodle soup also was tasty with a hearty broth and beef being fall apart tender. We dipped the scallion pancake in the broth for another W-O-W moment to our taste buds. Just a satisfying meal overall. And we had leftovers from the soup to take home as well. I want to give this restaurant a solid, 3.6 to 3.7 stars. I came here on a Monday afternoon for lunch with a friend, because a different friend recommended the food to me. I have been looking for the elusive Taiwanese beef roll for several months, and I saw that they had a "beef burrito" at this place which looks similar. When I came, I ordered that, as well as the Meat and bean noodles. The guy I was with ordered the spicy beef noodle soup, as well as some chive dumplings. On the whole, the food was actually just too salty for me. This is coming from someone who has a pretty high tolerance for salt, but my noodles were hard to get through even half of without being very thirsty and actually feeling very full just by virtue of how salty they were. The beef roll was alright, the quality was decent enough but it wasn't quite like the one that I had in the past, and I do think it could've done with some sauce added, or some other kind of marinade? It just felt a little bit lacking in flavor actually. That said, I think one hugely redeeming quality for everything is that the prices are quite good relative to the amount of food that you get! Even after ordering these two dishes, I went home with enough food for probably two more meals, and I spent $25 total. That's a really good price to quantity ratio! One of the reason that I don't think I'll be coming back though is just because of the distance of this restaurant - it's pretty far north from me (solid 30 min drive even in zero traffic), and given the food didn't blow my mind, I would not seek it out again, unfortunately. That said, given the quantity, the cost, as well as the speed of service (we probably only waited five minutes total to be served our first dishes) I think it's fair to give them four out of five stars here. Bathrooms are adequate, they're nothing special or fancy, but they're clean enough. This restaurant is also inside of an outdoor shopping center with ample parking. read more

The best beef noodle soup in all over the world. Yes, the world. A while back, I spent a lot of time in Asia, where I first discovered this delicious bowl. But they called it Singapore noodles. I would return home, and at that time, Austin was home, and then I would return to Asia, only to come back home looking for something similar. One day, I mentioned this beef noodle bowl to a client, and he told me about Julie's Noodles. He was also traveling back and forth to Asia and was missing the food he enjoyed there, too. Well, I believe Julie's Noodles has the same recipe. So, from that time, I have always returned here for my beef noodle bowl and more. I can say many great things about this bowl I love, and I'll tell you it's everything. It's the flavor, the beef, which is literally so tender; it's the noodles, the spicy broth, and the garnish. I love Julie's Noodles but i don't think I've ever actually ordered noodles here so take my review with a grain of salt lol. The soup dumplings are what keep us coming back! We love the Pork Soup Dumplings and the pan fried Beef & Carrot Dumplings. The Beef Burrito is another thing we love to order. It's beef wrapped in a scallion pancake, its super yummy and flavorful but it tends to be a little greasy. I'm not sure what kind of beef is in it but it's always so soft and marinated perfectly. The chili oil here is my fav. The inside of the restaurant is small and sweet, nothing fancy. The parking lot tends to be a madhouse during busy hours since it shares a parking lot with a lot of other restaurants like Din Ho and Ramen Tatsuya. read more

I might've been biased since I had a cold and desperately wanted soup, but this broth really hit the spot. Yum! Julie's noodles had really good crab and pork soup dumplings! We've had soup dumplings from NY and downtown Austin, Fort Worth, and Plano, and this one was hands down the best one we've had. We also tried the pork soup dumpling which didn't have as much soup in it. I personally don't like the vinegar that much so I just added a little bit of soy sauce and chili oil. We also got the spicy beef noodle soup which has a kick and a whole mouth feel. You order at the window. Food came out pretty quickly. There's a good amount of seating. It gets busier around 12 on the weekend. There's water and ice in a bucket so don't be noobs like us and just have lukewarm water. Tip: your shirt may get oil stains if you're a messy eater like my brother. Lastly, I'm still thinking about this place even though it's been 3 weeks now. I will say the handmade noodle do taste amazing and next time I will request that! For some reason my dish came with skinny regular noodles and my husbands came with the thick handmade kind. The noodles come separate from the soup so I tried his and they were good! The soup I got was the veggie noodle soup. To be honest the broth needed some help. I added some salt, soy sauce and sriracha sauce to give it more flavor since it was a little bland. After that it tasted better. I do want to give a shout out to the black fungus and onion appetizer. I got it because others said it was good and I can confirm that it tasted very unique and was delicious. The 'black fungus' seemed like some sort of seaweed? Honestly I don't know what vegetable it exactly was but it had a strange chewy texture. I personally thought it was really good and my husband liked it too. It's something that you definitely don't see at other restaurants so maybe give it a try! Next time I come I will try more of the appetizers since I enjoyed the black fungus one. The first time, I got the lamb stewed noodles, the next time seafood, followed by seafood, followed by seafood! Can you tell that the seafood noodles smack? These thick cut, house made noodles are like nothing I've ever had before. I'm not sure if this is common in China, but thank you Julie, for bringing your fare to Austin! The menu is simple, the place is spotlessly clean, the staff is professional, proficient, and friendly. And more than anything, the food is BOMB! You order at the cashwrap, you're assigned a number, you find a seat. No stress there. The stress starts the minute your bowl comes to your table. Imagine a scalding hot bowl of delicious and fresh ingredients that looks so appetizing that you wanna immediately begin slurping, lapping, ravishing if you will....but you can't, for fear of singeing your tastebuds right off. There's something so homey & authentic about the place-- from the huge portions, low prices, self service, and staff that's like family. When I want comfort Chinese food, my mind goes to Julie's Noodles. I love dumplings and Julie's Noodles does a wonderful job. My favorite is the mixed dumpling order. You get a variety of 3 types of dumplings for $11. I think that's a great deal. The chicken potstickers I tried for the first time. They were okay. The lettuce or cabbage underneath added an after taste. The chili bean oil that comes with each dumpling order is great adds an extra layer of depth to the dish. The dumplings were so fresh and tasty - the dumpling dough had a nice texture, the soup was savory and the filling was actually complex with meet and veggies. The scallion pancakes... omg, crunchy, chewy goodness that you don't want to miss out on! Julie's Noodles is a must try when in the Austin area. When you walk in, you go straight to the counter to order before sitting down. Aside from them bringing your dishes to your table, you will need to serve yourself. This means you will need to grab your own water, and plates and bowls if you plan to share appetizers. I recommend getting some potstickers along with their thinly sliced pig ears which are very flavorful. Most of their noodles are hand pulled; some aren't, such as their rice noodles. Broth is very soothing and doesn't seem like it was loaded with MSG since I wasn't super thirsty and sleepy afterwards. The stewed beef could have been a little more tender; I think they cooked it fine but then put it in the hot broth which ended up overcooking it. I like how they are a self service restaurant, so you're not waiting around for service when it gets busy. The food itself is great, the only complaint is that the soup is a bit saltier than desired.
