We came on a Sunday morning for brunch -- make sure you book your reservations early because I did mine about 4-5 days in advance and Sunday at 10:15 am was the only available time. However it's a nice vibe, good artistry, and we were seated quickly. However, since it was just 2 of us we were seated in the corner; my seat was facing a window with a not-so-great exterior view. So, try to book a table of 4 or more so you're seated in a better part of the restaurant. Good part is that there wasn't a crowded feeling. Onto the food: again, so good. We ordered the curry shrimp and grits and the fried chicken and vanilla bean French toast. That fried chicken was so tasty. Seasoned the way the best fried chicken I've ever had was seasoned. I can't explain it but it's very specific. That curry shrimp was also very good and filling. The shrimp was big and the grits were nice and creamy, thick but not too thick. For drinks we had the Fruity Wet Wet (non-alcoholic) and the Juicy Bloom Mimosa. Both had a bit of sherbet on it which I always love w/ my drinks. The wet wet was definitely delicious. Overall: it's a place you want to visit several times to taste all the different things on the menu. I'd rearrange the seating a bit, especially for smaller parties, but the food definitely made up for it. Kudos to the management team for keeping everything moving smoothly. I had the bourbon vanilla French toast, which comes with blueberries and strawberries and syrup and four chicken tenders that are better than I've ever had with a terrific homemade dipping sauce and very light fluffy scrambled eggs. My friend had the catfish and grits. The catfish carries a kick of some heat and is absolutely terrific. The grits to which he added Gouda cheese, which is one of several choices were next level. He spontaneously said that these grits were from heaven. I think they're from Dwight, who is the very talented chef in the back. The biscuit with honey butter that came with that I stole more than half of. And my friend took home half of his catfish and grits and two of my chicken tenders because this was a lot of food The drinks were good. I've been meaning to try Just Spoons for a while but just never had the opportunity to do so. I had a friend in town staying just 5 minutes away and figured it was the perfect opportunity. I was invited out to a quick brunch with some friends here and it was great. The place is in the rear of the building so for me it was hard to find. We both started with an appetizer and she got a biscuit and I got a sweet honey butter croissant. The biscuit tasted like a corn bread with a layer of sweetness to it, and so did that croissant. They were both soft and delicious. When we received our entrées, the grits were cheesy, but not so cheesy that it tasted fake. The grits were also not gritty and perfectly seasoned. My catfish was well fried and whatever recipe they were using was on point. My friend's pork chop was so tender that I didn't really have to use any force on that knife to cut it. When I had a bite, my mouth was exploding with flavor. Overall, this place is a hotspot! It is great for birthdays, a small group, an intimate setting for date night. For drinks my daughter had the Tropical Twist ($10) and bestie and I both had the Juicy Bloom Mimosa ($18 each) The Catfish dish was definitely more flavorful than the Salmon dish. I would rate the Catfish 5 stars and Salmon 4 stars. The grits on both dishes were so good and creamy. My daughter didn't care too much for her fries however devoured her bacon. I appreciate that they honored my request to cook her bacon soft. Our drinks were all delicious, surprisingly the mocktail Tropical twist was the best. I've seen this place advertised many places and it usually seems busy. A friend was in town Thursday and we figured it wouldn't be too crowded. It wasn't. The place has a nice ambiance; great decors and nice music in the background. Everyone was nice from host to waiters. I figured it would melt on the table so I took it off. My friend mixed hers in; I chose not to. The croissant was super delicious. Moist, sweet, warm--best thing. The scrambled eggs were also great. Now, this 40+ stuffed salmon, bland and overpriced. Described as tender and juicy but not that at all. I expected a $49 salmon to be mouthwatering, finger licking good and having me wanting more but that was not the case. The stuffing on top is what gave it its flavor but seems the actual salmon was neglected. I still can't believe for this price, my main dish was not satisfying. The veggie omelette itself was high and well seasoned. The sampler platter my partner had was the best bang for our buck. We honestly could have shared it if we added a biscuit or side. The curry shrimp and grits were the best thing on the platter. I was skeptical because as a Jamaican, some people curry don't taste nice but it definitely complimented well with the grits. The butter pecan French toast was good but the bread was kinda burnt and hard to cut/chew. I didn't try the donut sandwich or the chicken because I do not eat land animals but my partner loved them. For drinks I had a lip smacker( mango tea and lemonade mixed) and it definitely had me smacking my lips *muah*. My partner had the peach Bellini cocktail. I saw the bartender fill up the glass 3/4 was with the liquor and we still could not taste the alcohol. So be careful with the alcoholic drinks! The reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 is because there was a 20% service charge that was no where on the menu and was not mentioned at all until the bill came. They were not overly salted or sweetened which some soul food restaurants often get wrong. The flavors are authentic and the chef deserves much credit for his craft. It's obvious that they care about producing quality food. As a small restaurant, they have some unusual policies such as a 1 hour dine in limit and a small deposit required for reservations, but it makes sense for them to do this. Honestly, their particular target audience cannot be relied upon, so I can't complain. The host greeted us in a friendly manner and the service was good. I would like to see them expand/ move to an updated location in the future. They are reasonably priced, however, I expect a coinciding environment/ ambiance.
