In my last day in NOLA this time around, we were on a mission to find a particular candy store that was off the super touristy path, and as we searched hunger hit. For once we didn't ask for recommendations (since our experiences had been hit or miss the whole trip) and just happened about this place tucked away and as soon as we entered we knew we had finally found a winner. The decor was nice and upscale without being snobby. It seemed hip but refined. A mix of old world and new. We were quickly seated and served and not a single person in our group had a complaint. From cocktails, burgers, coffees, chicken sandwiches, DUCK FAT FRIES (my fave) and more. The wait staff was so helpful, conversational and disappointed we hadn't come there days earlier. The food was also not what I expected and I got the burger to be on the safe side. Nothing was seasoned I didn't even finish every bite made me want to gag and that's putting it lightly. Sat at the bar both times, and were lucky to have Amelia as our bartender. She had the best drink recs on day one - completely pegged us! Then the next day we went for lunch and asked Amelia for recs, and it was an amazing meal! We had the tomato salad - it had blue cheese and a vinaigrette that was so so good. For our entree we shared the NY strip with hand cut fries. Both were cooked to perfection. The steak was tender and delicious. We opted for dessert because why not? Our Waiter was Alex and he was very accommodating of our b large party of 13 people. Food was really good. I got the Shrimp and Grits and it was probably the best I have ever had! The Crab mac and cheese seemed more like just mac and cheese I didnt really taste or see the crab meat. Overall the food was really good and I would go again. We arrived at the restaurant right at 5p, just in time for our reservation to discover that the doors were still locked. They did not open until 5:06p even when I called. That was disappointing and unprofessional. Despite the business casual attire dress code on OpenTable's website, the hostess wore a white spaghetti strap, ripped jeans and black combat boots. I thought the restaurant had a dress code? The food portions were small unlike the prices and I couldn't switch out the collard greens (I don't like collard greens) when I contemplated ordering the fish on the market. Yes another 5 star brunch review, I can't stay away! Justine has changed up the brunch menu and I'm here for it. I could have eaten a dozen of the deviled eggs with salmon roe. The eggs over beef debris were rich and satisfying, and I appreciated the size of the biscuit (a few brunch places around town skimp on that, which is utterly baffling to me). We received a text at 8:45pm saying our table for a 9:15 reservation was ready, but when we arrived we still needed to wait until 9:15 to be seated. I would recommend not offering 9:15 reservations as our server informed us the kitchen closed at 9:30 and the kitchen would prefer we order all courses at the same time and quickly. Our server was gracious, friendly, and seemed to genuinely feel bad letting us know this. We ordered several appetizers, including chicken wings, one of the five wings was spilled on a member of our party by the runner. Hey, stuff happens, but as it was now after 9:30 that item was not replaced, and only $3 was removed from the ticket. We ordered it with the intention of the table each getting 1. Come on, Justine. Either comp the appetizer, or replace what was spilled on us. Also my bad for presuming a $5 coke would have a free refill. It did not. The food was fine. I ordered the filet medium rare and it was served rare, but again, a kitchen that closes 15 minutes after we're seated probably isn't trying to razzle or dazzle. I don't even blame them - Justine does not need to offer reservations so close to kitchen close time. Great atmosphere and our server was very good. Below average experience otherwise. read more

Wow. The service was fantastic. Michael took great care of us- even refolded our napkins when we left the table to use the restroom. He was super attentive and made our experience wonderful. This was our first stop of many over the 4.5 days we spent in NOLA. Glen, the concierge at the JW Marriott recommended this place since it was close and we were exhausted from a day of travel. We had the mussels for an appetizer. This really stole the show and I'd recommend ordering this for a meal. They were cooked perfectly and the salty brine in the bottom of the bowl was even fantastic (we mopped it up with bread). My wife's meal, scallops, was our least favorite. While they were cooked perfectly, we both hated the creamed corn they topped it with. I had the Shrimp & Grits and they were pretty fantastic. All in all we were very happy. We tried to frog leg special appetizer which was delicious. The pecan greens salad was too salty which was a shame since the champagne vinaigrette was superb. My husband and another ordered the chicken confit which they both enjoyed, as well as the shrimp and grits (sooo good). I LOVED the vibe of this place and the food! The decor was amazing and so girlie with touches of pink and gold. There were also really nice tables and bar area. I had the shrimp and grits, crawfish mac and brie and the crispy brussel sprouts which were all amazing! My family and I are always looking for a good brunch spot. Well, we found one to add to our list! The establishment is lovely, the wait staff amazing and the food, delicious. As a New Orleans native I like to try different restaurants in the French Quarter because I can't have tourist just enjoying them alone. Lol! However, it was a great experience, minus the difficulty parking which we all know too well. We were able to park in a lot that was a few blocks away so not too bad. This married couple was on the money when they put together this eye catching eatery. When walking past this restaurant, it grabs your attention instantly. With open windows, full dining rooms and the music turnt up, I was all in for this experience. Due to traffic we were a little over 20 minutes late for our 8:30 reservation, but I called and informed them of our tardiness. They were very understanding and accommodating. Once we arrived, we checked in and were sat immediately. Although there was a little wait before our server arrived, we were enjoying the music and going over what we should order. For cocktails, I started with "The Rivera Coloda". The ingredients included rum, Chartreuse liqueur, amaretto, lime, coconut and fresh pineapple. It was very similar to a piña colada on the rocks with chunks of what I believe was coconut. It was pretty tasty. If you're looking for something a little more aged, you should definitely try "The 1789". For hors d'oeuvers, I was torn but decided the "'Barbeque' Shrimp Toast". Oh how happy I am I made that decision. The shrimp were full of flavor! I was concerned originally when it hit the table because it was not the vision I had for this dish, but it fooled me! The chili butter was succulent, the garlic was crazy good, and the bread was just perfect. For entrees, I ordered "Steak Frites", and a side of "crawfish Mac and cheese" which sadly never made it to the table. My company ordered the "Pan roasted gulf fish". The steak was lacking so much flavor and under cooked! My feelings were so hurt! I sent it back. The fish however was stunning. The leeks were cooked without fault, and the crawfish and Brabant potatoes were lovely. The fish did not disappoint! I would certainly revisit, and I am hoping they can iron out these flaws! This is one of my favourite spots to go to in the city of New Orleans. From the wall adorned greenery to the neon lights displaying the name Justine, there is so much more to offer when you go to this place. The food is definitely worth a try. We always look for somewhere that does not have the typical menu. Justine offers an intimate setting, amazing entrées, and delicious evening beverages. One of my favourite is the espresso martini, so far the best in the city. I always get one in a go cup to ease my walk back to my room. The food is clearly chef inspired and usually ingredients you normally would not think about cooking had you tried to come up with a new dish. Highly recommend for a date night and if you schedule your reservation through OpenTable, recommend putting in whether you were there for an anniversary, birthday or a date night.
