5 STARS!!! Well-seasoned but in addition to being tasty, it was beautifully moist, not overcooked the way many restaurants serve it.

Somebody sent us to this restaurant with instruction that we had to absolutely asked for the "chicken roll". Well, we never got to that. The ground beef seasoned kabob was extraordinary in that it was not overcooked, but instead tasted great and was super juicy. We tried the hummus sampler which is three styles and the standard one was really good, but the other two were just a little bit too spicy for our tastes. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs as we hadn't eaten all day and we were so hungry that the ordering got away from us LOL. The baklava is freshly made every two days, but there's no photo because Mr. Picky ate it when my head was turned. It's all halal which sets my mind at rest. It's a bit of a drive to get there from here but next time we go I'll run through all the individual dishes. In the meantime, I can definitely recommend the place.

This is a casual restraunt where you order at the counter. I ordered chicken biryani rice. It came with chicken on the bone. It was good! I also tried my partners chicken tikka masala. It was also good! Both dishes seemed authentic. They had a good amount of spice in them, but it wasn't overbearing. We ordered some Naan bread for the table, and it was some of the best around.

We ordered the Chicken Kabab plate and butter chicken. The veggies were burnt. The chicken in the plate was too dry and the salad was not fresh at all. The butter chicken was not too bad thus the 2 stars.

12/31/19 I found this place thanks to yelp Great reviews and photos had me come here. Well that and my love of Mediterranean food. I ordered a mixed grill meal, which came with various meats, on a bed of rice and a few select veggies. Salad came along with it, and I ordered garlic naan. This is the type of restaurant that you order before you sit so the food is hot and delicious. I was well taken cared of here by the staff and enjoyed all my food thoroughly. I had so much, it made it lunch for me on the next day.

Omg! Glad I gave this place a try, everything was amazing. The best gyro I have had in years and I have eaten a lot of gyros. The pita was melt in your mouth and so was the meat. The gyro meat had so much flavor and was so moist and the tzatziki sauce was so creamy and delicious. I was even surprised how much I liked the Naan, it is just bread. But it was soft and seasoned well I couldn't stop eating it. I also got a baklava to try and that was perfectly executed. The phyllo was flaky and it wasn't overly sweet like some baklava. Will definitely return when I am in the area. Might even just drive out as a destination.

This place is a casual restaurant where you order at the register and they bring it to your table. The service was very kind and patient with all of their customers. We ordered the chicken seekh kabob wrap (not pictured), chicken shawarma platter with hummus and tabouleh and onion naan. My favorite was the seekh kabob it was so flavorful and juicy! I would come back just for that. I'm not sure we would get the shawarma again, the flavor was good but it was just a tad bit dry :/ and the hummus wasn't the best we've had. But we definitely want to come back to try more items.

This is a great local business with a good lunch special and great serving of food for the price. I will say the shawarma can be rather greasy, but seasoned well

    CHICKEN SEEKH KABOB PLATTER

First time trying Mediterranean food and it was pretty good. I ordered the chicken seekh kabobs, rice, a side of garlic naam bread with spicy hummus and the baqlawa alamode. The chicken and rice was pretty good but my personal favorite was the regular naam bread with the spicy hummus. The garlic naam had a little to much garlic for me. But the baqlawa was a great way to finish my meal. Just wish it was a little bit more fresh. It was quiet, clean and the cashier was nice and helpful. I still want to go back and try one of the wraps.

We tried the turkey, brisket, and jalapeño sausage, and every one of them was delicious. The brisket was especially impressive--moist, incredibly tender, and so soft you didn't even need a knife to cut it. The sides were very good, but the meats were definitely the highlight of the meal. One thing we really appreciated was the toppings bar, which included pickles, onions, pickled onions, jalapeños, and two different barbecue sauces so you could customize each bite. They even had a mini soft-serve ice cream machine for a little dessert after your meal, which was a nice touch. They also offer family meal options, making it a great choice for larger groups. The restaurant was clean, had plenty of seating, and the staff was friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. The kitchen line has lots of workers happy to help with questions and let you see/try anything you are not sure about as they have some non-traditional options for a BBQ place. They have several sauce options. You can't go wrong with any. They were in the middle of construction/expansion but there are still lots of seating options in or outside. Didn't have an issue getting a seat without a reservation which was nice and also telling. Only one thing I ordered was good. The rest was not memorable in a way to want to experience again. The lychee ceviche I was looking forward to was underwhelming. More beautiful than tasty, which the dessert suffered the same fate. The soccer ball was photogenic but it should be both with the level of sophistication in taste they acquire in their craft. It was reminiscent of a Cadbury egg. Just the peaches and the chocolate were unimpressive and not complimentary of each other. The tuna papad was amazing. Some subtle hints of aromatic Indian flavors and and sweetness. The contrast of crisp and soft and presented well. That's how I expected each dish. The rizala was creamy but not exciting with bold flavors like I was hoping. The lamb was inconsistent. One of them was tough and texture/taste off. The rest were tender but not flavorful enough in seasoning. Tried a new naan. Nimbu it was ok but too thin for naan and the lemon essence didn't really spread well across. Mango pina colada was nice. Quite disappointing for $220 though. Possible I just ordered terribly. The chef tasting menu didn't look appetizing or sound very Indian so I ordered à la cart.

We ain't in Queens anymore…read more For years, I've eaten on Shah's all around the borough, initially out in Ozone Park and Briarwood before finding a real audience in Sunnyside. Now that they've sufficiently blown up around NYC, I was a bit shocked (and excited) to see them finally come to H-Town. What's the verdict? It's good enough to pass muster for NY standards (#1), is open super late, and will likely be my go-to Halal food for the foreseeable future. Since I've only had it in cart form, I'm still a buggin over the fact it's become a franchise. It's similar to my shock of eating Halal Guys at a store for the first time. The digs feel as foreign (prices, large, clean and bright interior) as it does familiar (taste, logo, etc.). Even though I had a laugh seeing the wall photo-mural of a Shah's cart in Times Square, I did appreciate the nod to Ozone Park with the 121st & Liberty street signs. The chicken + lamb combo platter ($12) is and always will be the winner. The lamb had the same kind of seasoning that most Halal spots out here try to replicate but can never get right. The rice was fluffy, and the white sauce was easily the highlight. I can understand why they've decided to bottle it up and sell it as liquid gold. It makes every meal better. Kofta ($12) and chapli ($13) are rarely my favorites, but I knew I had both in platter form. The addition of adding chickpeas and these other salads is not something I'm used to from the carts (#2) but I loved the fact it was drowned in the white sauce with a dash of hot sauce. The latter is supposedly extremely hot, but I didn't find it that spicy. While I have to say the cheeseburger was a bit of a disappointment (overly bready, thin patty), the pakora chips and french fries were fabulous. They were perfectly seasoned, had a nice crisp, and frankly would be an excellent, gut-busting addition to any platter. I don't love the extra charge, but I hope they remain consistent with it. This store location in Westchase along Westheimer is an up and coming part of town. There are numerous Middle Eastern businesses in the adjacent area, along with an abundance of parking spots and a good amount of late night activity. Service was friendly but I do hope they keep their standards up. As time goes on, I'm 100% convinced this will be a destination for the many late night meal seekers and fans of NY nostaligia. __________ (#1) Which automatically supersedes a lot of the ones here in Houston. Just keeping it real. (#2) Is the chickpeas a Houston thing? Genuinely curious.

This is a nicely sized spot next to the Jusgo plaza in Houston Chinatown, so plenty of parking and also food options. It's tucked in a corner but should not be written off. Its a pretty casual sitdown restaurant and we were welcomed and sat pretty quickly on a Saturday around 8:30PM. We were provided menus and started ordering everything that sounded good (within reason for 2, sorta). We ended up getting the Uyghur polo with lamb shank, Uyghur goshnaan, korma chop, garlic cucumbers, mint tea, and a yogurt for dessert. This was more than enough food for 2 but I wanted to try a bunch and this is me holding back. The Uyghur goshnaan was very crispy and the filling was flavorful and juicy, good lamb flavor and nice spices. The Uyghur polo with lamb shank was great and the pilaf had a nice sweetness with raisins that cut through some of the fatty richness of the lamb. The korma chop was also super flavorful with a nice savory sauce and noodled with an excellent texture, very QQ. I don't usually order cucumbers at Asian restaurants cause I can make a cucumber salad pretty easily at home but the one here was very good. Excellent refreshing crunch and garlic flavor to go with all the other dishes. The mint tea was also nice to wash down the mountains of food I was inhaling. I also enjoyed the yogurt, it's a thicker yogurt like a Greek yogurt and topped with honey and raisins. Again, a nice sweet/tart treat that didn't feel too heavy after everything else. I definitely need to come back as I didn't even get my big plate chicken but it'll be hard to choose between all the options. I def recommend this spot, esp if you like lamb as all the dishes we had were excellent and priced fairly for the portion and current economic situation.
