Soooo good! Walked in on Saturday night without reservations and sat at the bar. We ordered albacore, yellowtail, and salmon sushi which were melt in your mouth delicious! We later ordered another salmon because it was so good. The garlic edamame is a perfect starter, my boyfriend and I were in love with the sauce they used on it. This place was so good WOW! I absolutely loved every roll that I got. The yuzu, lemon and baked crab hand roll werso fresh and flavorful. There's a lot of good sushi in LA but this place probably has the best rolls I've ever tasted, and their service is top notch!!! We got seated and served by Shin, who was the kindest man! I got to say the food is excellent but the customer service is horrible they lie and charge extra and make you wait more than an hour every time you order food to go or you walk in. I have to be honest. I do not know what all the fuss is about this place. We waited an hour to be seated because we went without reservations. All the smart people had reservations. Anyway the place got rave reviews from everyone I know and being a sushi geek I had to try it. We tried so many different things and honestly I was not impressed. Even getting sushi topped with truffle shavings did not impress me. Everything lacked flavor. I regret waiting in line for 1 hour and I definitely will not be back. Kabosu, one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in the area. Ordered the chicken teriyaki and spicy tuna roll bento lunch special. Comes with a fresh salad and miso soup. Light and flavorful yet filling. Polite and friendly staff. A great alternative to Yuzu down the street. Parking can be a challenge. You know a place is good when there's countless other restaurants within walking distance, but people are still waiting outside this one for a table. We actually had reservations down the street at Malbec (Argentinian steakhouse, totally different vibe) but when we passed Kabosu and saw the crowd, we had to slow down and peek inside. We decided to cancel the steak and go for sushi instead, even if it meant a 30 minute wait. Hey, that's what the whiskey bar next to Malbec is for! I told you this area had a lot going on. We finally got our table and I have to say the food did not disappoint. We MAY have over ordered a tad...I mean, we were starving by this point. And ADT may have been a little tipsy from the Japanese whiskey at the bar, so I can't remember everything we had BUT I definitely remember the tuna sampler and the one with yuzu being the most amazing thing ever. I had every intention of ordering the vegan roll but when it was my turn to order, I somehow blurted out the Futo maki right below it, an unagi roll with tamago (yes!) and gobo (yes yes!) and shiso (what sealed the deal.) Literally all my faves. We also had the seabass, poached in this mushroom broth. Then my DC decided to get a beef teriyaki bento as well. So. Much. Food. A vicious fight broke out in the restaurant's kitchen while I was dining just steps away from where I was sitting so out of concern for my safety I got up, left a considerable amount of food and virtually all of my beverage at the table and walked to the front of the restaurant asking for my check so I could leave. Presumably the lady was calling the police. The check took a long time. I was charged for the drink I barely touched and was offered no credit for the food I left over concern for this fight. I was there several times and I liked the food. The place was usually crowded and couple of times we had to wait up to 45 minutes to be seated. But we were always able to eat there. So all in all good. Until last Saturday. We decided to go there with family from out of town, for lunch. Did not make a reservation, did not think we needed one. We did not have much time, the visiting family had a plane to catch. So if we were told we had to wait more than 15 minutes, we would have to leave. But we were out much faster than 15 minutes. The host - or waiter - came and told us to leave because they do not have any tables. Not even an offer to come back later, make a reservation, or come another day. It just seemed rude to me. One of the best sushi spots in town! You can close your eyes, point to anything on the menu, and it'll be delicious. My personal favs are the lemon roll, lime roll, yuzu roll, and the albacore special sashimi. The garlic truffle edamame is a must! Ps. The food was okay. The service was horrible. Anyone that used to go here please don't go anymore. I have been here at least 5 times and the food was good the service horrible. I don't even write reviews. I don't have time. But the experience I had I just don't want anyone to walk out hungry and annoyed. We got there in the evening as we walked in and they told us to wait for 30 minutes which we did. The problem was when we got seated. The first dish got there in 15 minutes and thought it was slow but the rest should come after. The next one came 20 minutes later the next one was 25 minutes. We were seated for one hour and got three sushi dishes. By the time we left and got our check it took 90 minutes. This was their max time limit on the table. I asked them what was going on and they stated we are short staffed and we are sorry. What gets to me is they have all these rules they tell you the first thing when you get there. They also have a rule that you can't stay at the table for more than 90 minutes. Maybe it would be a good idea to reduce the amount of tables outside maybe you shouldn't take on so many customers when you're short staffed. We left hungry. With horrible experience. read more

If you haven't tried it. You're missing out. The fish is always fresh and amazing. Albacore with crunchy onion is a must, as is the spicy yellowtail handroll (you should ask for avocado in this it just adds to the yum- and if you're into soy paper you're in luck because they do that too!) If you have a thing for truffle you have to get the toro sushi with truffle (or salmon ... or both!) and you're welcome. Staff is friendly, efficient, and clean. Do not go when you're hangry because there is usually a wait of at least 1 hour. There is a bar next door which is super great you can go in and have a friendly host write down your name and number at Kabosu and then you can grab a drink while you wait! read more

Sunday hour is 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Called in for phone order as soon as it hit the open hour. Was told the pick up order time is 8:00 pm. What is the reason for 3 hour pick up time? Why not just say no take out available on Sundays? Well managed restaurant should anticipated good meal prep time in advance for both take out and eat in services. If you are not able to manage your food preparation within certain hour, then you may want to look for a another chef who can better multitask. Will not be a customer at this restaurant anymore. I called and made reservations for two. Reached the restaurant and they claimed that my reservation was not on the list. It was 8:30pm. The restaurant closes at 10:15pm. They were unwilling to place me and my guest on a waiting list and unwilling to make an accommodations. Very unprofessional and rude. The manager of the restaurant spoke at a high pitched volume and continued to tell me I never called, when I clearly showed him 6 attempts at calling the restaurant and stated the name of the female who took down my reservation. This is a great Lunch or dinner spot. A menu is HUGE and service is great. Sushi is fresh and delicious. I had the Yuzu roll which was delicious (but not spicy as listed and a little sweet for my taste), the spicy tuna on crispy rice which was delish!, and the sea bass roll which was also very yummy (and cooked for those that don't want raw fish - great option!). My lunch date had a scallop roll that I was all sorts of eyeballing (looked sooo yum!) There were so many other yummy looking things on the menu I would recommend. Great fresh tasting sushi. Just don't get there too late because it's so good it fills up quick. The waiters are also pretty nice.

My all time favorite sushi spot is kabosu and sushi yuzu. They are a street apart and have the same owner. I can literally go there everyday and I won't get tired of it. Everting on the menu is amazing. My favorite hand roll is the baked crab hand roll it's literally perfection. My favorite roll is hard to choose because there all amazing but it's probably the Asian roll it's delicious. My favorite sashimi is probably the yellowtail sashimi with jalapeño it's so good. The sushi is amazing quality and it's not fishy at all it will melt in your mouth. It's a very clean restaurant small but definitely the best.Trust me the food is worth it. Always make a reservation at least a day in advance because they get really packed at night no matter what day of the week it is. This is one of my favorite sushi places. Sushi tastes so fresh and full of flavor. I LOVE the lemon and lime rolls they are amazing. Also the edamame is literally the best I have ever had. I will never get tired of coming here. My only complaint is that it is a very long wait. Every time we come here it is like a 1-2 hour wait. The place is also very small so that is probably why. My friend made a reservation here knowing that it'd be super crowded and when we arrived at 7pm, they had us wait an additional 20 minutes for an open table. It didn't bother me too much because I wasn't really hungry yet, but not sure if I like how they treat reservations. My friend and I shared the baked crab and salmon roll, lime roll, and yuzu roll. They were all absolutely delicious, especially for the fact that I have never had the particularly tangy, lime roll before. They were all distinct and unique on their own. We were kind of sad they don't have the baked lobster roll anymore but the baked crab and salmon roll was SOO FINE in its warm and creaminess; it was my favorite.
