I've dined here numerous of times and experienced both the kabuto and nigiri omakase. Both equally satisfying served with fresh quality fish. The fish seriously melts in your mouth and is pure heaven at first bite. The kabuto is $120 with about 5 entrée servings (excluding intro sake and dessert); served with a mixture of cooked items and nigiri pieces. Now if you're more of a sashimi lover, I suggest you order the nigiri omakase because you get an appetizer-like amuse dish, 10 sashimi cuts & a hand roll which is only $48! You can always order ala carte if you want a few extra pieces of nigiris/sashimi at the end of your meal if needed. The last time I was here, hubby and I each ordered their nigiri omakase (which was an appetizer for us) before we had a full blown meal at Raku (same plaza, just as good!). Las Vegas weekend trip! My friend told us this was one of her favorites and we booked Kabuto one month in advance to eat here! I have to say she is absolutely right! Had the $175 Omakase. Wonderful experience! Many different tastes. Very refined. The best sushi and omakase I have ever had. Everything was great! Excellent service. Social distancing. It's a small place. Only 13 guests for the seating. 6 at the sushi bar. 3 tables that could probably seat 4 each. You definitely leave full. The dinner was about 2 hours, but the next course arrived swiftly when you finish a course. Some may feel it a bit rushed but it's a lot of courses in 2 hours. I notified Kabuto ahead of time that someone in my party has a shellfish allergy and they were so accommodating on what to serve that person and still giving everyone else the normal experience with shellfish. The sushi chefs were very professional and interacted when appropriate but most times they allowed you to relax and enjoy your food. The omakase experience comes with 8 segments: amuse, warm dish, sashimi, grill, nigiri (10 pieces), hand roll, soup, & dessert. Nomnomnom Vegas is synonymous with wonderful meals. Why can't we have places to eat in LA like we have in Vegas? Booked this about a month ago for the 6pm seating for our anniversary and have been highly anticipating this meal. I was so happy it's finally 4/20 so I get to enjoy it. I got the $80 Omakase and I'm so full now. I have a very happy belly and still have cheesecake on the way. This shopping plaza is filled with foodie goodness. This place serves an omakase menu and you can add additional nigiri pieces if desired. Expect to spend $100 a person not including drinks or additional addons. I think the price is completely justifiable and lesser than other omakase places of similar quality. It is absolutely necessary to make a reservation. If you are looking for a spot on a weekend at a specific time I recommend booking a month beforehand (this is the earliest date you can book). I booked exactly 30 days before and still did not have all slots/tables available to sit. Food: The fish is very fresh, high quality, and much of it is imported directly from Japan. I assume the omakase menu changes fairly often since the menu does not include details of what will be served rather it sticks to providing the type of each course (i.e. appetizer, nigiri, grill, etc.). I found myself absolutely stuffed by the end of all of the courses and we did not add on any nigiri pieces. Some of my favorites were the cold appetizer of sashimi, the uni served with ikura, and the opal eye nigiri. They also provide a choice for the miso soup which includes mushroom miso and shrimp head miso. The dessert is a bowl of varying traditional Japanese desserts. Ambiance: The place is small allowing for an intimate dining experience. The restaurant features classic simple wooden furnishings with a large plant splayed on the back of the sushi bar. There are only about three tables seated away from the bar for larger groups. I along with a few other groups sat along the bar. The bar isn't a bad seat at all since you get to see the sushi chef cut and prepare each nigiri piece as well as plate some of the dishes. The bar has a display for all the sashimi cuts that will be served that night. Service: As expected the service is outstanding. If your water glass gets low, don't worry they will be immediately. They will personalize the speed of delivery by watching for when you finish or about to finish each course so they can prepare the next course. One of the best omakase experiences that also serves as your best bang for your buck (100 dollars). You don't have to worry about what to order because there is only 1 menu. Many of the dishes are creative and interesting (also you can leave your wasabi at home because most of the sushi is perfectly seasoned as it is). If you want a great dining experience in Vegas without spending more than 200 pp, go to Kabuto. Atmosphere: serene, you are at the chef's temple. I love the flower that they have arranged in the back by the chefs as well as the overall small size of the restaurant. Great atmosphere, you know you're in for something special here. Service: the service you get is incredibly individualized to your table. At most restaurants even the high end, a server would cover 4+ tables, at Kabuto 1, max 2. When they saw that I liked eating the rice with my hand, the brought me a wet towel for me to wipe my hands after every bite. Strong attention to detail. Perfect. Food: we started with the amuse, which was a delicious seaweed, mushroom, and corn soup dish. Great. Followed by strong appetizers, sashimi and grilled items. But the best part is definitely the sushi. They are fresh, the taste incredible, and you can see where the chef has taken his creativities to move the sushi up to his taste with the utmost respect to the fish and rice itself. I went here to celebrate my birthday and we did the kabuto omakase. The experience was wonderful!! Great service and everything on the item was so fresh and delicious. The only minor suggestion is the one of the grilled fish (I think it's the collar) was a little too salty. Besides that, everything was great. If you're the first timer like me, try to do the omakase so that you can try a little of everything. This guy is way off, lying and being completely disrespectful to not only the business but to this town and most importantly the art of this cuisine. Let me start off by saying, I have waited my entire life to sit down at an Edomae Sushi restaurant of this caliber. Now, as of lately I can officially call myself a Sushi connoisseur. I know the cheap spots and I know the expensive spots. Kabuto delivers an experience that is delicate and deserving of the respect any Japanese food establishment can offer. I was greeted with smiles and joy. I was actually nervous sitting down anticipating the meal and experience; this coming from a musician who has played to thousand of people at once. I chose the most expensive meal course, $175 - and that is reasonable for this town. I also after heavy debate chose the sake pairing. If I didn't do the pairing I have to assume it would have been a big mistake. Unable to recall every sake serving, but to start off with a sake aged in Japanese snow for 3 years, WOW! There is a huge difference between $13.99 sake and expensive sake and this proved I could go on forever. I highly recommend living this experience. Reservations is a must if you want to dine at Kabuto. It's a small restaurant which seats maybe 16 customers maximum; 8 at the counter and four tables of 2. I believe presently they are only offering the Omakase menu but you can order additional types of nigiri if you wish. There are two seatings nightly; 5:30pm and 7:30pm. The price per person is $100 but considering you are being served 18 dishes, this is really a bargain. All the dishes are explained either by the cook or wait help as it is served. Personally I think it's always best to sit at the counter so you can watch the chefs as they create your dishes. Kabuto has very high ratings on many sites. After dining here, I can see why. I think I drank more soda then what I ate. I think $175 is a bit overpriced and I think it's more because of the space literally only 2 tables and 10 stools at the sushi bar. Making my nigiri omakase rounds and today's stop was at Kabuto in Las Vegas. Tucked in a small strip mall with shops and lots of restaurants on 3 sides, the parking lot can get pretty crowded at 6PM so a good tip is to arrive 20 min early and scope some of the other restaurants or get a boba at kung fu tea! The omakase started with a very light lemon sake on ice to whet my palate and actually made me consider getting a bottle of it. The appetizer had a baby squid and some very interesting textured seafood. Not my favorite. However, soon the nigiri started and all was good. The lean tuna was firm, moist and tasted like the sea. A great start. The Hokkaido scallop had a texture that showed it was fresh and super sweet. My favorite. The deep sea porgy was in the mackerel family and this was my first experience with it. Definitely a winner! Sweet shrimp was large, great texture and true to its name. They don't serve the heads automatically, maybe if we had asked but we didn't. Also got to try mejina (opal eye) and sayori (halfbeak) both are white fish and very nice. The Uni sampler was a great way to compare multiple types from California and Japan. Definitely liked the Santa Barbara over the Catalina on this day. Both Japanese Uni were lovely to look at but the natural was the best of the four. Overall, great value and freshness that compared favorably to Southern California. Definitely much better value than anything near or on the strip. Service was friendly and attentive. Note: like most omasake restaurants, reservation is required and only two seattings per night. Really enjoyed the omasake experience. The chefs were friendly and staff was very attentive. To my surprise, I was full by the end of the night, but you do have the option of adding more a-la-carte nigiri if you are not full. Most if not all the fish are from Japan. They also have a healthy menu of drinks that you can choose from to pair with your meal. I've posted the omasake menu so you get an idea of the number of courses. The nigiri is 10 pieces, everything else is one plate, some of the courses have 3 tiny samplers, check out the photos. Tuna Handroll was amazing but you only get one. We loved omakase from Kabuto when we visited in 2015. We were driving through Las Vegas in November 2020 and was so happy Kabuto offers take-out! They are also open for dine-in but we don't feel comfortable yet. You can place an order by calling or texting them and the pick-up window is 5-6pm (pretty short but worth it). We got Yoroi Gozen$85: mini tekka-ju (maguro, chutoro, o-toro, and negitoro on sushi rice), two uni and ikura rice, and sashimi for two. Omg, I am not a big fan of tuna (hate any mushy sashimi) but it was super fresh, good texture, and full of flavor! Also the rice is perfectly seasoned. The highlight of 3 different types of sashimi provided was scallop. It was super sweet and not mushy at all. Uni and ikura rice: I love uni and only complaint was I just wanted have more and more lol Great quality and fresh sashimi/Japanese food you can enjoy at home but this would not make two adults full. This is one of the best restaurants hands-down in Las Vegas. The quality and the service is reminiscent of Tokyo. I deal with Tokyo Kyoto and Osaka restaurants every day and some of the best in the world. This type of Edomae Service and cuisine is what you would expect from a place like Sushi Saito or Sushi Yoshiitake all the way in Tokyo. I went with a friend that has been to Kabuto before and she advised me to go with the lowest tasting menu that way we could sample and order more and not break the bank. We made a reservation weeks in advance, so make sure to plan accordingly! As you enter, you're greeted by the cutest and sweetest ladies who will be serving you your food. 10/10 for the above and beyond service. They're so considerate, welcoming, and respectful to their guests. There's about 10 seats at the sushi bar, but there were also some tables inside. It is apparent that the sushi chefs are masters of their craft and take their jobs seriously because they were so focused. The appetizers are so refreshingly light and beautifully presented to prepare my palate for the nigiri. The warm house sake was also the perfect pairing to our course meal. Each piece of nigiri was extraordinary and melted right in my mouth. The fish was firm, a sign of freshness! I loved the fatty tuna, definitely the winner for the night. Good Food and Service, Strange Experience I made a reservation for two for a Sunday night. After I made the reservation I received texts asking me to confirm. We are all used to that so I did. Then there was a follow up text. Do you want the $120 per person or the $175 per person? I thought this was very strange. This is the kind of thing you decide at the restaurant, not on the fly when you make the res. I looked on the website and there was no detail about what would be served and the differences between the two options (other than an added course in the $175). I did not make a choice. When we arrived on time our seats were not yet ready and so we were escorted to a couple of chairs two feet from the door to the restroom. The waitress pressed -- which would you like? I said I did not know because I did not know what they were serving. She tried to be helpful, but she said the items on each menu are different but she could not tell us what was on each. That is just plain bizarre, even for omakase. Each menu had Uni we were told. I am a fan of SB Uni but not Hokkaido Uni. I was afraid for example that the more expensive menu would feature the more expensive Hokkaido Uni even though I like SB better. But since the servers would not tell us anything we had to order blind. I was seriously annoyed. We almost left without ordering. If they want to keep the menu secret, just offer one menu. Making people choose with no information is super annoying. It invites an assumption that more expensive is better. That is not necessarily true. More expensive often is just more expensive. We opted for the $175/pp. it did feature Hokkaido Uni while the other menu turned out to have SB. I thought no prob I'll just order a la carte. Nope, they ran out of SB (but not Hokkaido). The service was otherwise very good, the sushi chef in front of us was nice, and the fish was high quality. Not the best I have ever had, but definitely way above what you get in regular sushi spots. The edomae part of the restaurant description is puzzling to me. Edomae used to mean local Tokyo fish preserved in local custom ways. I did not see evidence of that in the meal so I was confused. About $650 for two including sake and good tip. There must be a better omakase sushi experience in Las Vegas. read more

The ambiance, service, food....everything was spectacular. The attention to detail blew me away. Kabuto is the best sushi I've ever had along with Shiro's in Seattle. The quality, presentation, and service was probably one of the top eating experiences I've ever had. We had a 6:30 pm reservation for the omakase which was served with a few rounds of very unique appetizers before the actual sushi rounds. The fish were all extremely fresh in very thick slices with the perfect amount of sauce or seasoning if required. Yellowtail was fresh with subtle flavors. The futomaki was delicious as well. I think Kabuto and Hiroyoshi are hands down the best omakase/Edomae-esque restaurants in town and would give NY, SF, and LA a run for their money. I am curious what a full omakase experience is like. I tried to get reservations weeks ago, but nothing was available so I ended up on the waitlist. My group made other plans. Yesterday, we got a spot, but had to cancel. We were then charged $100 per person for canceling. What an absolutely obscene policy. I called the restaurant multiple times to try and get a different time all day today - no answer. Kabuto sent a text informing us to confirm or decline the reservation - but there is no mention of $100/pp charge in the text so because i could not get a hold of anyone, i dropped the reservation. I then got charged. Bad on me for not reading the fine print on resy - but this also feels very heavy handed. I really loved this place - and had been there multiple times - but never again. Food: - I got the 195?pp holiday omakase - All the appetizers were really delicious! I enjoyed them a lot especially the salmon, chawanmushi, grilled lobster - What was kind of surprising was that for first 5 nigiri pieces..the fish was served cold, which I have never experienced before at a high-end omakase place. My personal preference is that they're served closer to room temperature so you can taste the fish better. And as a result, most of the first 5 pieces were just really bland and it was harder to taste the flavor.
