We have going to this place back to it's original location in Kalihi (hence the street name reference) and was impressed with their very consistently high quality. This is the first visit to the new location (yes, know that it's been a while), to see if this still case. A sigh of relief that this place doesn't disappoint, you will get really good quality for a very reasonable price, hovering a few dollars above the $10 range. It's really slightly higher plate lunch prices for restaurant quality and presentation. A few favorites: Guava BBQ Brisket - pretty tender and soft, sauce could be a little too sweet for some, liked the slight tangy flavor, portion is just right and for $12.95, it's a super bargain. Garlic Chicken - one of the more cheaper dishes on the menu at $10.95 and don't let the "cheap" price fool you. Really impressed with the use of garlic, not too overwhelming like Sugoi's and Mitsuken but you can still taste it. Another plus, they don't overuse batter, and get more batter than meat. Loco Moco - this is their spin on the classic local dish and see the improvements, gone are the overly greasy and salty gravy.. you can actually taste the subtle use of spices. I wasn't expecting much, but really, don't judge a good food place from the outside. Their fish tacos were furikake with wasabi but just the right amount to make it a special flavor that made you want to eat more! For $12 total with two tacos and a side, it's definitely more affordable than where I come from--but there are loads of other foods and specials for the day too. The service took a little bit but the folks who took the order were patient and not rushing at all. With a ton of great food places in Moiliili one stands out for sure that anyone who loves good food shouldn't miss and that is Kahai Street Kitchen (KSK). I have friends who kept on telling me that I need to check this place out. I would drive past and I would see a line of people and if you know me, I don't like to do lines much so I would keep on driving. One day I was talking to my friend and he was raving about KSK, how good his fish plate was. It just so happened when I asked my dad what he wanted to eat, he said fish. And that is what got me to try this place out. I ordered the Misoyaki Catch which was some kind of fish but pan seared in the same misoyaki sauce that most of us know from misoyaki butterfish. it came with white rice and namasu vegetables. It must of been really good as my dad ate everything up. I'm talking so good that the plate was so clean, like he licked the plate kind of good. I love hamburger steak as it is one of my go to foods, so that is what I got. The hamburger steak was cooked to perfection as the outside has a nice char and the inside was nice and juicy. The gravy was broke the mouth and combined with the onions made it perfect. Unfortunately it was the perfect storm where I was so hungry and the food looked and smelled so good that I forgot to take a picture but trust me, it was really, really good. Just thinking about how good it was is making me want to go back. If you didn't know they also make breakfast on Saturdays. They serve it up from 7:30am for the rest of the day. So it's perfect for those who like to sleep in on Saturday's but still want to eat a good breakfast. Just like lunch and dinner, the breakfast menu is huge. When I say they have something for everyone, they truly do. They have the "Sunrise Breakfast Special" which comes with a corned beef hash patty, bacon, Portuguese sausage (2 pieces each), fried rice, and one local egg any style you want for only $8.95. Daily Special on website (I apologize but this review is a week late) Plated Bento $18.95 Deep-Fried Furikake Catch, SPAM, Garlic Chicken, Boneless Korean Kalbi & Panko Shrimp. Served with Two Sides. My husband and I shared our dish. We didn't want to be too full and we wanted to have enough room for dessert. The two sides we ordered was toss salad with vinaigrette dressing and brown rice. The brown rice was soft and good . I'm always hesitant ordering brown rice because it usually a little hard. Remember now we shared. The Furikaki Fish - Crispy panko crust with furikaki and flaky and soft fish on the inside. Small portion of fish. Boneless Kalbi - two slices of meat. It was good. Spam - one plain fried spam Panko Shrimp - one piece and it was crispy and light. Garlic Chicken - an okay amount of chicken. It was crispy even when the sauce was on it but it was too much sauce for me. It was a bit on the sweet side which I'm not too fond about eating it. A small amount of sauce would have been better just to coat the chicken but then again it was sweet. My taste bud most be changing. It was my least favorite item on the bento. The wait wasn't too long especially when I heard someone else say they waited 40 minutes for their food. I would like to try more of their seafood dishes next time. We ate outside on the shaded picnic tables. Table was clean and it wasn't too hot. I did find out later in the week that they do have indoor dining. At work we typically celebrate Thanksgiving a week before Thanksgiving, and today we did as such. We ordered 43 pre-packed Thanksgiving meals, and it was super delicious. The turkey included a mixture of white and dark meat, and it was tasty and tender. The mashed potatoes was creamy and buttery. The portion of stuffing was so small, and tucked under the turkey. I wished there was more because it's usually my favorite part of having a Thanksgiving meal. There was a nice sweet sauce for the ham and the gravy made it all!, well seasoned, and so tasty that not much was needed. They also delivered at no charge! read more

This place took over this hole-in-the-wall Korean restaurant that I will always remember as the "beff" restaurant due to a menu typo they had LOL. My friends and I decided to check this new place out one night. It's located across of One Plus One Drive Inn and the Mo'ili'ili Park on S. King Street. There's a tiny parking area and lots of street parking nearby (thankfully). There was a lot to choose from, and I ended up choosing the spicy (mild) steak with a side of Mac salad. Asked for medium rare and that was what I got. Yum! The sauce was delicious! It was kind of like a gochujang kind of consistency which felt kind of weird on steak. But it somehow worked out. Definitely not spicy at all for the mild spicy. LOL. I was too scared to try the ghost pepper one. It was kind of strange having an empty spot on the plate, making the food look kind of sad. My friends got the loco moco, combo of short ribs and shrimp, Cobb salad with bulgogi, and butter garlic steak. The short rib was REALLY REALLY TENDER. highly recommended! The flavor was delicious but the tenderness omg. The shrimp wasn't overcooked and battered nicely with garlic butter. Yum. Definitely a place to try if you're around the area. This continues to dominate our plate lunch $$ as the food is cooked to order, plated well and delicious. The team that takes and prepares the order is friendly, professional and exudes Aloha. We have taken to bringing their lunches to our condo caretakers on occasion and they have commented on the taste and quality. The portions have shrunk over the years to about 2/3 what they were a few years ago, but the quality is consistent and the preparation is spot on. Our favorites are the combination braised shortribs and garlic shrimp with mac salad and rice. Sounds standard, but the ribs are perfectly seasoned and cooked, tender but still with a nice chew and the shrimp are crisp and garlicky. We often try their wonderful daily specials, but we have to force ourselves to try something other than the shortribs combo bc that plate is almost perfect. Again, the portions are a tad on the smaller side but we haven't found any place that is as delicious and consistent. Really nice outfit. I got the 6 oz filet mignon and garlic chicken combo special today which was great. It came with choice of two sides which I got brown rice and broccoli. The rice wasn't dry which often can be the case with brown rice and the broccoli came in a separate container with garlic. The filet mignon was in two thin slices and both were cooked perfectly medium rare which the temperature I asked for. The gravy was tasty along with the crispy fried onions. The chicken was crunchy and had a nice sauce with garlic, sweet and salty flavors. I was impressed with the quality of the food and am glad I finally got to make it there. We had the shrimp and brisket with the tossed salad and rice and man oh man, it was everything I could have hoped for and more! The flavor was exceptional and quality high, well worth the price. We had beef short ribs and the ono. The fish was cooked reasonably well, but nothing to write home about. The short ribs was soft, but smothered with a dark sauce that neither of us could eat. Ordered the braised short rib loco moco (super tender, but tasted a bit bland), corned beef hash loco moco (flavorful and simple), and the Kahai deluxe special (tasty and fulfilling breakfast with bacon, link sausage, eggs, fried rice, potato mac salad, spam, and portuguese sausage). The food overall was pretty good especially for the price. The menu is huge so we're probably be back to check out their other dishes. The staff are fast and friendly. Take out was quick. Parking was a bit tight and it's slow because of COVID so you would think there's more parking spots. They have picnic tables outside to eat at. Then again, that's usually if I had ordered a regular steak or prime rib plate; not a hamburger steak plate; which I would think should automatically be cooked like medium well. Found my new fave dish! Spidah Pasta. I don't know the real name but basically soft shell crab on pasta. 2 Soft shell crabs crusted in panko and parm deep fried. Sitting on a huge bed of pasta with some spinach and tomatoes and delish creamy, but not too creamy, sauce. Could have used more spinach in the sauce to let me pretend that I was eating a salad, and the bread could have been toasted longer. I'm glad it wasn't all buttery (even if I looove butter) so I could use it to sop up the sauce. I managed to eat 1.5-ish crabs, and about a third of the pasta. So, if I had 3 more crabs, it would have been perfect! But just I ate the rest in 2 meals with other okazu. Hubs had the Hong Kong Chicken. He mopped it so I guess he really liked it! read more

Love the many toppings that make the salad fun to eat. It's also so colorful. This delicious salad was $13.95. The loco moco and chicken plate was very tasty with the hapa rice and potato/Mac salad.
