my boyfriend and i went to this lovely ramen place as part of our 6th month anniversary!!! we ordered the chicken gyoza and we agreed it was splendid, perfectly cooked, very well-seasoned, and not too salty :). I ordered the shoyu (soy sauce) ramen . the broth was incredibly flavorful and their noodles are so good and filling. my boyfriend ordered the tonkatsu (pork) ramen. he said the meat was very tender and it was savory. we both 1000% recommend this place for some yummy ramen and gyozas. the ambiance is calm and the restaurant has a cute Japanese decor and a chalk drawing of One Piece!!! (and a lot other anime characters :D). love it here.

The atmosphere can use some music. I had a pork ramen, it was good but nothing stood out, I've had better. The best thing was the service, but my fiancé and I were the only ones in the restaurant.

When I walked into the place, it was completely empty, which I thought was weird but I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately the chicken Katsu was really dry and the noodles looked like they were top ramen. The broth was decent but overall I wouldn't recommend eating here our server, though was extremely nice.

Really enjoyed the food and hospitality. First authentic ramen and loved it. The noodles digested well, unlike the 5-for-a-$1 packs at groceries where you're bloated for 6 hours. Lol! I chose Shoyu, despite not being a big fan of soy sauce. Broth was great. Though does get salty with about a quarter of broth left. Put egg, steamed chicken and braised pork (a must) in my combo, which already comes with 2 pieces of pork. The noodles were amazing. But not as amazing as their Udon, surprisingly. I had a few bites of it and, while I loved the ramen, almost regretted not doing spicy Udon. Not their specialty, but better than their ramen. Which is saying something. The rating for this place should be easily at least 4 stars. It's a really good choice to eat at. And it's helpings are heavy. We had to box and bag. So come hungry.

I noticed a second location on olive and calloway. Are they moving or getting a 2nd location?

I think they're just getting a second location

I can't eat pork due to religious reasons. How is the vegetable broth?

    Excellent

Ok, I love the miso here. I'd love to recreate it. Anyone know what kind it is?

They have a few different soup bases, but I think the most popular one is a pork broth base.

Anyone have any luck placing an order to go on the phone? They didn't answer the first time and sent me straight to voicemail on the second call. I'm very peeved.

I've called before as well and the phone just rang and rang .... I tired 3 different times. Then gave up and called a different restaurant

Does the broth of the ramen contain any MSG?

    A little too much...

I was craving pho and decided to give Saigon Bento a try. It's a little confusing because there's a Saigon restaurant and then there's this place, Saigon Bento. There's also a Saigon Bento #2. Apparently Saigon restaurant has been around for forever and is highly recommended, but was much farther, so I decided to come here instead. I honestly just like the meatballs in my pho and they were able to accommodate just this instead of their other preset dishes. It was good and packaged well for takeout! It was ready super quickly!

Somewhere between the kitchen and the table they experience a full existential crisis and dissolve into a noodle-flavored fog. You don't eat this pho so much as you drink it with regret. Then there's the robot. I want to be clear: the robot is trying its best. But a robot is not a coworker, it's a Roomba with delusions of grandeur, and pairing it with exactly one (1) visibly overwhelmed human does not equal "efficient staffing," it equals "understaffed with extra steps." I've seen this establishment's entire org chart and it's one guy and a trash can with wheels. The Vietnamese coffee and salted cold foam, though? Genuinely incredible. Immaculate. The only reason my card has ever been charged here more than once. I racked up a small fortune in reward points on the strength of that coffee alone -- and then went to redeem them, only to discover the website has apparently also fallen into a noodle-textured crisis and is completely down. So now I have points sitting there like Monopoly money for a bank that closed. Great coffee. Great foam. Genuinely inspired idea for a business. Just... catastrophically executed, like someone had a beautiful vision of a pho franchise and then handed the keys to a single tired employee and his robot intern. America needs a real pho franchise. This is not it.

One thing I noticed was the mix of different tables and chairs throughout the restaurant. It almost feels like a hodgepodge of furniture, but somehow it works and fits the contemporary vibe rather than feeling out of place. The food was excellent, the service was friendly, and the prices were very reasonable. We received our food surprisingly fast, which was a nice bonus. There was a mistake with one of our rolls, but the staff handled it well. They quickly remade the roll and brought us a replacement at no charge, which I really appreciated. One of the highlights was a custom roll with jalapeño, avocado, and asparagus. I added cream cheese and had it deep fried, and it honestly tasted like a sushi version of a jalapeño popper. It was absolutely amazing and something I would order again in a heartbeat. Overall, it was a great experience from start to finish. The bathroom and the restaurant is very clean. And the staff was very attentive, professional, and very pleasant. I enjoyed the food I ordered via DoorDash, but this time I got it fresh right out of the kitchen and the counter, and it was amazing. We started with the jalapeño bomb, and mixed tempura in a size small. Both those appetizers were delicious and perfect for sharing. Then we ordered a California roll on soy paper, the Kuma special sushi roll, and the creamy salmon roll. Everything was fresh and very shareable. We could've easily shared our meal with two other people needless to say we had leftovers to take home. I definitely recommend this place and I look forward to going back. There are other things on the menu such as fried rice, udon, and teriyaki plates. They also had a couple of desserts, so I am definitely planning on trying one of those. Enjoy!

On what is typically one of the busiest nights of the week, it did make us wonder if that was an early signal of what was to come. To start, the menu is undeniably extensive...spanning multiple Asian cuisines with a wide variety of dishes, from ramen to curries to appetizers like tofu satay and crispy enoki. While ambition and variety can be a strength, here it felt more like quantity came at the expense of execution. We ordered a range of dishes to get a fair sense of the kitchen: tofu satay, crispy enoki, tonkotsu-style ramen (soy milk-based), drunken noodles, and ma po tofu - all items that, on paper, should deliver bold, distinct flavors. Unfortunately, most fell flat. The tofu satay lacked depth, the crispy enoki was an interesting concept but noticeably under-seasoned, and the ramen broth missed the richness and complexity you'd expect from that style. The drunken noodles and ma po tofu similarly leaned mild and muted, rather than vibrant or aromatic. To be fair, the concept of a fully plant-based Asian menu is appealing, and there is clear effort behind offering such a wide selection. However, in this case, the breadth of options seems to dilute the overall quality and consistency of the dishes. Overall, while I appreciate the intention and inclusivity of a fully vegan menu, the execution didn't quite meet expectations...especially given how many flavorful reference points these dishes typically have.
