Would give this place zero stars if possible. I went on my 30 minute lunch break to get some sushi since it was located next door to where I work. I walked inside and I was greeted by the cashier, but it was horribly muggy and hot. Figured it would take 10 minutes at the most to get 1-2 rolls but instead it took up over half of my lunch break!! I paid a total of almost 18$ for two rolls, I was honestly kinda surprised but I was willing to see if they were worth the money. But not only did it take forever the rolls were horrible!! The rice was so warm that the sushi was falling apart. Several things from my rolls were forgotten and they tasted horribly bland! After I got half way through the rolls I felt sick! I went to get a refund and the cashier just keep over explaining how they did their rolls. I just wanted a refund and to be on my way, but the cashier just kept over explaining! If anything I would avoid this location, I've been to other locations where their service and food is amazing but this location I would 100% avoid! Walk over to the Kanpai instead! I like Kamisama Ramen, but I don't love Kamisama Ramen. I've definitely had better in the Bay Area but tbh? This place gets the job done. I will say that the ramen here is worth 3.5 stars and the service is worth 4.5, so I've evened it out to a 4. The best thing I've had here is the miso-based ramen, which would really be perfect on a cold day or on a day when you're feeling under the weather. PS. I wish they had better seating! The tables don't really do it for me, or maybe it's the layout? Really so pleased to be seeing new dinner options in Bakersfield! This is located at the site of a prior Asian restaurant and interestingly, your credit card (or at least ours did) may reflect the name of the prior location (BGF Asian Diner). We were offered the option of waiting a few minutes or sitting at the table by the side door. We didn't feel like waiting so we went for the side table. Being in the middle of winter, the table area got quite cold since it is just next to a double door to the outside. Additionally, there is quite a bit of foot traffic there from both the restrooms and the kitchen. So sit there only if you really don't have the option. The service was friendly and attentive service. We were checked on several times, and our bill came without us asking for it. Tonkatsu ramen was tasty. This isn't Daikokuya but there was the requisite fatty pork and bamboo pieces. It was served piping hot, which is a plus. I would add additional noodles if you are really hungry. I thought it was perfect for this time of year! I haven't found ramen elsewhere in Bako, so this hits the spot. Parking is easy in the adjacent lot. read more

I was excited to learn of this spot as they appeared to be a "ramen first" spot as opposed to sushi joints offering it as a side menu option. We ordered the Shoyu basic bowl combo with gyouza/garlic rice and a chicken cutlet bento box. Ramen noodles were actually quite good, better than most but the broth was sweet and turned me off. The gyouza was Meh and the garlic rice was the same. Wish they offered fried rice. Chicken cutlet was better than the ramen imo, but that's not what drew me in. Added 2 tempura shrimp (soggy but I guess it would be expected) and a soda for $15.00.. add a modest tip and you got a $17 lunch?!?! Got the shoyu ramen.. broth was good. shrimp was soggy as previously mentioned, but to be expected as they are sitting in broth. Noodles were thicker and a small notch better than your ol' cup-o-noodles.. The place was busy and there was only ONE guy running around trying to serve everyone. The guy managed to get my order, my drink, and my food out quickly though. Had to ask for the bill just for the sake of getting out quicker. The parking lot is pretty crappy directly in front of the restaurant, better parking is found a little further down. When leaving if you need to go back South on Calloway, it may be easier to go to the light vs. trying to get across to the turn lane directly in front of the parking lot exit as the traffic is busy. Customer service is great. Decor atmosphere was fine. The reasons I won't be back: 1. Noodles are too thick for good ramen and they were a little chewy. 2. You have to pay more on top of an $8 bowl of ramen for egg, which I have always thought was standard. 3. The flavor of the broth ( I had tonkotsu) was just okay. And the spicyness options are only adding chili paste, oil, or sriracha to your bowl...I didn't like the flavor of any of them that much. 4. After trying out various ramen places in LA and SD, this place is far below average in terms of the quality of ingredients, and the overall taste of the ramen. The noodles tasted like they were from those instant ramen noodle packs or previously frozen. The chashu wasn't that great to be honest, and a little too firm and overcooked, and it tasted slightly bland. The broth was pretty good, so far I've tried miso, shoyu and tonkatsu. I would give this place zero stars to be honest but it's the only ramen place in Bakersfield. Edit: O Ramen is a new ramen place in Bakersfield and it is way better than Kamisama ramen for sure. read more

The Raman is pretty amazing. I got the Tonkotsu Ramen (pork bone). It was so good. Broth was full of flavor not too salty it was just right! The menu is also fun, you can get just the Raman or you can add extras like pork, chicken, egg, or veggies! The staff is so helpful and will guide you to the best selection. The price is also affordable. If Raman is not your thing they do have other selections on the menu. Again the staff is friendly, helpful, and they were very speedy with my food and drink refills. Went here today, I walked in and the whole place was empty, and it didn't smell good. The waiter also didn't smell good. I ordered a chicken katsu bento box, the salad seemed not at all fresh, the chicken was sitting in water and very over cooked with lots of little bits left on the chicken, the rice had no salt and tasted a little funny, and worst of all my California roll was not cold! Thankfully it didn't contain raw fish, because I'm sure that wouldn't be safe. I came solo and PJ and Vincent kept me company and very well informed. The food, ooooohhhh the foooooddd! I went with the Veggie and Tofu Ramen and it was just delightfully delicious. I had been here once previously when this place was new and was satisfied with the food so I decided to come back on a visit home. Seated right away at the bar with my two other friends and we were tended to very quickly; however, it legit took over 30 minutes to get our three bowls of ramen. There wasn't a line at the door and we could clearly see that were only four tickets in front of us. I ordered the veggie ramen with tofu with chicken katsu and both of my friends got tonkatsu ramen. Fast forward to the ramen coming out... my bowl appeared to look good but the veggie broth was bland and ALL of my veggies were bitter to the point that I had them uneaten by the end of the meal. I felt sorry for the manager who appeared to be quite frazzled so I left it alone. My friends' ramen was so salty she said she couldn't even enjoy her bowl. All in all we paid about $46 dollars for 3 bowls of ramen. Way overpriced for the quality! Coupled with slow service = definitely not returning. Sadly it's a supply/demand issue out in this area so being that this is one of the few places that serve ramen people will have to continue to stick with it. read more

This is a solid ramen place, with a few things that could be improved to bring it easily to four stars. First off, service was friendly and quick. Atmosphere is relaxed- a great lunch place, but also not so casual that it can't pass for a decent dinner out. My husband and I both got ramen. I had miso broth, while he had pork. We both got the Kamisama topping set, and I also ordered garlic. Servings were generous, though I don't think I'd pay $1.50 just for a boiled egg roping, especially as ours were pre-boiled and still cold when they arrived in our bowls. Still good, but if I was just getting the egg and not full topping set up, $1.50 for a boiled egg means it shouldn't arrive still cold (unless this is a serving norm I'm not familiar with with ramen places). Overall a good bowl. Perfectly fresh garlic and generous pork slices, albeit very fatty cuts. My only other critique is that the only black hot tea offered was just plain Lipton. I'll come back- the flavors were good, and the minor areas for improvement aren't enough to keep me away or discourage anyone from going. read more

Got the chance to finally return for some ramen the week of thanksgiving and nothing has changed; well, except for the music. No rap was playing! ;) It was packed when we walked, super packed, and the only table left was a tiny one in the back, by the bathrooms or counter seating. Since I had my kids with me, counter seating wasn't feasible. We opted to sit at the tiny table, which was directly behind a low partitioning wall that had 8 other people on the other side. It was a bit awkward at first, but whatever. I didn't mind it. I'm not sure what the owners reasoning was behind all the counter seating, but I find that people generally prefer to dine at a table over sitting at a counter. I think they would have so much more space for large parties if they did away with all that counter seating, right? read more

I, on the other hand would of preferred the noodles and meat to be cooked a little longer for a softer texture. The service was great and there's not complaint. My friend added a garlic fried rice and gyoza combo to the ramen which was an extra $5 or $6. Not a bad deal if ramen alone is not enough to complete your meal. Just a bad attempt at recreate a traditional ramen experience. After having some truly legit ramen (outside of Japan), I just couldn't appreciate this restaurant after giving it a few tries. The ramen was just OK and lacked some of the finer details such as the egg being fully hard boiled through, instead of having that slightly runny (soft boiled) yoke you'll find at any descent ramen shop. The ramen bowls are also half the size, but twice the cost of other higher quality restaurants. Everything about this place seems lack luster and definitely no passion behind the scenes. If you order a hot green tea, they will bring you a standard cup of hot water with a generic tea bag hanging out. It seems that all the passion and creativity was spent on the awesome sign out front with the happy anime chef, but then they threw in the towel once they opened the doors to the restaurant and kitchen. When you go in for lunch service during a normal busy weekday and you're the only table in the restaurant....that pretty much says it all. The place just lacks any life or inspiration and the food certainly doesn't make up for it. So if you're craving some ramen and want something a bit better than an instant noodle bowl (and don't mind paying the huge premium), then I suppose this will do. I'd instead recommend checking out some of the other Ramen offerings in Bakersfield, which seems to be growing as of late. You'll easily find some much better quality and quantity with lower prices. I probably won't be coming back to Kamisama anytime soon and if they don't change some things up...I have a feeling there won't be anywhere to come back to anyway. Service was great though! read more
