Service was really good, but the food was just okay. I got a ramen bowl with the pork/boiled egg/butter option and it wasn't worth 5 extra dollars. We went for lunch yesterday and the weather was perfect for ramen. I'll be curious to see how this does during the summer. The staff seemed very gracious and eager to please. This restaurant has absolutely delicious garlic fried rice. The first time I went, I had great service from the waiter Derrick and our food came quickly. The second time I went, Derrick wasn't there and there was a waitress in training. More customers were there as well. The restaurant ran out of white rice and my friend and I had to choose which one of us got sushi because there wasn't enough rice for both of us to have ours. The customer after us seemed annoyed that she had to have brown rice instead of the regular option. My friend's California roll came to her slightly warm which is not good. It was also messy looking. They were also slow and forgot things I asked them for like extra sauce. The cooks on the second visit did not have it together. However, the garlic rice was still a success. I ordered carry out and the dish looked and smelled slightly burned. My sister thought it tasted good though. read more

Conveniently close to my work, and always my favorite. The food has always been fresh and delicious! I have been a fan of the teriyaki meals with extra veggies as their veggies are my favorite thing there. I've had the edamame and I loved it. The bento box that I got was fantastic. I'm not a fan of sushi so I can't comment on any that is served here. I will visit quite often as a lunch meal did not break the bank at all. read more

My wife and I love ramen and make it a must stop when we are in Los Angeles. I have been patiently waiting for a decent ramen establishment to open in Bakersfield, and then Kamisama came into my life! My wife stumbled on Kamisama on 11/1/2015 on yelp and we immediately wanted to try it for dinner that night. I got the Tonkotsu Ramen and added a boiled egg and braised pork, I was amazing! The garlic fried rice was equally amazing. The server was friendly and efficient considering he was very short-handed because his co-worker had called in and the place was getting busy. What really impressed me was the fact the chef made it a point to stop by every table and personally ask how everything was, I immediately shook this fantastic man's hand and thanked him for the great deed he has done for Bakersfield residents. We were redirected to a properly legal seating area by the hostess who seemingly was sitting at the front and didn't even looked to have worked here. As for the Ramen, it was 6.5/10 to me. Service - very slow (i'll rate 5/10). We had to ask for menu, 10-15 mins after they sat us down and did nothing. We understand they just open and probably still short staffed, but it's not an excuse and they didn't even apologize for the slow service. Great ramen, I like the soy sauce one, clean and sanitary definitely recommend if your in a ramwn mood, haven't tried anything else yet.

I ate here two different days. Day 1 (~5PM): fast service (5-10mins after ordering), waiter constantly was asking about how the service was, food was pretty decent. It is indeed MSG-heavy. Day 2 (~545PM): slower service (25-30mins after ordering), no checkups from the waiter, noodles were overcooked. Ajitama was cold. I can only guess, judging by remarks from other reviewers, that they are understaffed to the point that lunch/dinnertime crunch affects them very negatively. Decent place to get some ramen if you can eat at off-peak hours and don't mind paying a premium. I do believe a little bit of competition would go a long ways as to getting these guys in order... Don't expect them to improve until someone starts threatening their monopoly. read more

Took my brother here for a quick birthday lunch. We both ordered the favorite, Tonkatsu Ramen for $8. I added the kamisama toppings for another $5. The toppings were good. Not sure if I'd pay $5 for those toppings every time. The broth was good flavor. It was also a good amount of food. I didn't leave feeling hungry and I can eat a good amount. Just passing through Bakersfield on my way to Tehachapi and looked this up on Yelp. The reviews weren't bad and I placed an order for pick up over the phone . 1 tonkatsu ramen , they said about 15-20 minutes. I show up 30 minutes later and they say it's not ready, the restaurant is busy but not that busy. However , I've worked at restaurants in the past and I understand how it gets. I wasn't in that much of a rush and I had my dog with me so I decided to walk around the shopping center for another ten minutes. 45 minutes later I come inside and ask the girl working if she could check and see how much longer til my ramen would be ready and I kid you not, she rolled her eyes and said in a rude ish tone ya I'll go ask the guy . She then proceeded to walk over to other guests in the restaurant , flirt with a bus boy and then circled other tables checking on guests. She didn't go near the kitchen , so I asked the bus boy who ran over to answer the phone if he could check on my ramen and he goes to the kitchen and runs back and tells me it will be ready soon . I wait another 5 minutes , a total of 62 minutes since I placed my order over the phone, and he comes back with a brown paper bag and says Sorry for your Wait. I begin walking out the door but remember my roots and traumas of having my register being short and turn back around to let him know that I haven't paid yet. Moral of the story, this place did me dirty, rude chick, took too long for 1 ramen and it was Luke warm shitty broth but there is no reason for me to do them dirty back, even though I could have totally walked out without paying for them 8 dollar crunchy top ramen. Was pleasantly surprised by this place. Service was good, food even better. We had the tonkatsu ramen and the miso ramen. Chicken katsu on the tonakatsu was both tender and crispy. It was a little pricey for lunch but filling and flavorful. But I'm looking forward to trying it again. read more

I'm not sure where to start. We went in this place with no expectations and left very disappointed. First, it was freezing in there. Every customer and the waiter were wearing coats. Ummm, turn on the heat. Second, when I ordered iced tea, the waiter said they had no fake sugar. C'mon ... Ya gotta have fake sugar. When the waiter took our drink orders, we told him we had never been there and needed some guidance, all we got was a blank stare. When he finally came to take our order, he didn't answer the direct questions we had with any clarity. Word to the wise: complete sentences are very helpful. About 3 minutes later, he came back and asked if he could take our order. Ummm ... When we said we had ordered, we got another of his patented blank stares. Have been wanting to try ramen forever and I'm glad I came across this place. I've only been here twice and I seriously can't get enough of this place. It's a nice, clean, quiet little place and the ramen is second to none. My fave is the shoyu ramen with the usual accompaniments, bean sprouts, bamboo chutes and scallions. The broth is so deep and flavorful that I could almost go for a second bowl. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for some seriously good, authentic ramen. read more

My first impression was the restaurant looks clean and decent. The waitress was attentive to our needs from start to finish. As far as the food experience, there is nothing special with their Ramen Soup. Their ramen noodle's taste like ramen packages you can buy from oriental grocery stores. Too much soup and not enough ramen, meat and vegetable content in my bowl. I asked our waitress about it and she said I had to pay extra to get more ramen. I went to their new location on olive dr, first I tried calling several times to no avail. I went to the restaurant to order take out and the gentleman working (the owner I believe) was very curt with me. I asked him if the veggie egg rolls were vegetarian and he told me considering they are vegetable egg rolls they were, I asked if he could double check for me because sometimes a meat bouillon or other meat product is used in seemingly vegetarian items. He came back and said the box just says veggie egg rolls, I asked him if he read the ingredients and he rolled his eyes and brought the box out so I could read the ingredients. I wasn't trying to be difficult but he made me feel as if I was inconveniencing him. They definitely need to staff the restaurant, people were sitting at tables waiting because there was one guy doing everything in front and 1 cook in the back. I was hesitant to even go to this restaurant because their other location has a b rating by the health department, it seemed like that's only 1 of the problems with this restaurant. read more

Went there for take out so I can't say what dine in will be like. Ordered in the place took like 10-15 pretty quick. Got the pork broth with scallions and some other stuff. Broth was really good, my wife love it. The noodles on the other hand were okay didn't really add to the dish. Just tasted kind of funny and seemed to not cook properly. read more
