The beef broth was creamy and flavorful with a little spice. I added an egg but they forgot it. I didn't mind though since the ramen was plentiful and the noodles made me full. I really enjoyed the gyoza, unsure if it was beef or pork, but it was good and I probably could eat more. The customer service was excellent. I went on a Wednesday afternoon and there was just me and a couple dining in. I would return to try their other ramen flavors. Went to a quick dinner with the lady. She was feeling ramen so we came across this cute Ramen stop. Their specialty is a bone broth that brings out a rich creamy flavor. I got the beefy wild (their standard ramen) and she got the seabura (my ramen w/thicker noodles + extra fatty beef pieces). The ramens come with an egg, spicy red oil, bamboo shoots and a big piece of beef over the top. This ramen a winner! To compliment the Asian dining experience they have nice art on the walls and play what sounds like some kind of j/k-pop if your in to that. Great touch to bring in the Japan vibes. This review is for my notes. Restaurant is a little small so can get crowded. Seat was a little hard for me and sitting so close to the party next to us was a little uncomfortable but can't be helped. Tried the chicken skin with ponzu and cold ginger tofu appetizers. Both were good but chicken skin wins (shocker). It was my first time here so I tried the beefy wild which is their signature and it was great! So rich and beefy! Always on the search for good ramen, I came across Kamitoku and was immediately intrigued. They are known for Gyu-Kotsu ramen, which is "beef bone broth" ramen. I had read that it was established 70 years ago in Tottori, Japan and that their broth is cooked for an entire day to produce the best flavor of beef possible. Sign me up! Unfortunately I think my expectations were too high, as I thought this was just an average bowl of ramen. I ordered the Seabura, which is described as creamy shoyu broth with stewed beef back fat. Broth: Creamy Beef Noodle: Medium Toppings: Beef Char Siu, Back Creamy Fat, Egg, Garlic Chips, Bamboo Shoots, green onion, black pepper, shredded red pepper & flavored oil The broth was too light for my liking. I prefer the thick, creamy type. The noodles were thin and didn't really stand out. The toppings were generous but the egg was a bit overcooked. The char siu was perhaps the best part. For a ramen place that's been around for many years, I expected more. They're located at Ward Centre off of Ala Moana Blvd. Plenty of free parking is available in their lot. Reservations are preferred, but I was able to walk in right when they opened and there were only a few other customers who came in after me. It's a decent-sized restaurant with single seats and tables available. Service was friendly, fast and efficient. I came here previously and had a great experience. The food was great! However, they had a promotion that ended today. My party called and asked when last seating was at around 8p, they said last seating was at 8:30p, my party was there at 8:15p and was turned down a table and take out. We seen this promotion from a fellow real estate colleague that said they were running the promotion and take out. The business called me and said they did not like my attitude, and would seat me if I was there. Claiming they were busy and ran out of a lot of food (knowing they were running a promotion and it was the last day) I was extremely taken back by the way the "co owner" addressed us, even though we called to confirm things ahead of time. I would have understood if it was busy but the way they handled things were very unprofessional. One of my favorite go-to places for ramen! Different from the normal pork-based ramens, Kamitoku focuses on beef and beef bone broth; idk how they do it but it's so creamy and packed with umami yet somehow light and doesn't feel dense. Broths come in shoyu, miso, tan tan, tsukemen, and, my new favorite, yuzu! The light citrusy flavors surprisingly pairs really well with beef. Kamitoku also offers a bowl called the Beefy King for dine-in only; a massive bowl of ramen that could easily be shared between 2-3 people! My only gripe is that they are a little stingy with the toppings and I normally have to order a little extra to be satisfied, but I think it's pretty worth it since you can't get this kind of ramen anywhere else in Hawaii. Service is always so friendly, quick, and efficient. The restaurant does take reservations in advance but walk-ins don't take very long either (unless you go on the expected busy times like Friday and Saturday for dinner). Once inside, you'll find yourself in a modern type of vibe of a ramen shop. They still have the dividers up since Covid and not sure if they'll be doing away with it anytime soon. Five dollars for a bowl of ramen? Let's go! My friend, Lisa M., sent me an Instagram post that announced the Soft Opening of Kamitoku Ramen on 3-28-21 to 3-30-21. She was unable to go, so, I flew solo to Ward Center. Kamitoku Ramen used to be at Shirokiya Japan Village Walk at Ala Moana Shopping Center. This new location took the place of Agu Ramen, next to Piggy Smalls on Auahi Street. The free covered parking is much appreciated. The simple, modern decor and air conditioning inside of the cozy space are also benefits. I knew that it was Soft Opening... And I was prepared. Example: I added onto my original order. I asked for a second bowl of ramen and waited a while before asking if the order was placed. The waitress checked with the kitchen and she said it would be ready in a minute. The manager came over and brought my ticket. She pointed out that I was waiting more than a while and that the kitchen missed my order. She said it would take about five minutes. I declined and asked if the order could be cancelled. I also asked if she would honor the ten percent Yelp Check in Offer. She said she'd do it for me... Yay! Thank you! Fast forward two years... My friend, Irene, made reservations for four people during Kamitoku's 2 Year Anniversary Event (3-31-32 to 4-2-23). Thanks, Irene! We easily found free parking in the structure and checked in with the receptionist. She had Irene's name on a special piece of paper - not on the clipboard that everyone else signs. In a few minutes, we were shown to our table. We all ordered the exact same thing: diet Coke and the Nobu Wakame Ramen set for $8. It was delicious, but a bit spicy for me. I removed most of the chili pepper strands and felt that the broth was still spicy. I liked the tasty cubes of tender meat and the chewy medium thickness noodles. Nom nom! Our server was on it! It's one of the best ramen places in town. I. got there at 5pm right when they opened for dinner. I got seated right away. The servers there are super friendly. The lady that was helping us checked on us a few times to see if we needed anything. We ordered the beefy wild, spicy miso butter tsukemen and deep fried gyoza. My beefy wild was fantastic. The broth was creamy and full of flavor. When I bit down on the noodles I would crunch on the tiny crispy garlic that they sprinkled in there. Some of them were really hard and I didn't know what I was crunching on at first. I sampled the spicy miso and it was too spicy for me. Both of the ajitamas were slightly overcooked and needed more flavor. The beef gyozas were good. I liked the filling and they let you mix your own sauce, depending if you like a little or a lot of vinegar. I wish that they would add a black garlic broth as that's my favorite. Kamitoku Ramen has become one of my favorite Ramen shops.... EVER! They are a small restaurant located in Ward Center. I would highly recommend a reservation for those who don't want to wait outside. The interior of the restaurant is so cute, and it really gives you an authentic Japanese feel. I have been here multiple times, but I always order the same things: Gyoza, Chicken Karaage (AMAZING!), shoyu lite ramen, and my boyfriend will try different things but this time he ordered the tsukemen. I finally got to dine-in. Managed to try Kamitoku Ramen ( as I was famished) just before closing for lunch - 1100 1500- before reopening for dinner. Ate at the counter and requested the Seabura. Creamy, Gyukotsu ( beef bone broth ) with a slice of beef as well as pieces. I think there may have been more beef than noods in my bowl. Typical accoutrements of bamboo shoots and bean sprouts. It was a bit salty which is why I won't say it was great, but it was very good. Tonkotsu is my favorite type of ramen but I am being swayed to the beefy side. The guy who sat us was hilarious. He helped me get our 5 kids seated on the bar around the middle of the restaurant, it was funny at the time. Anyhow....he also brought coloring sheets for the kids and that was a major win. Our waitress gave us the option to order on our phones or with her, which was very helpful. They have a nabe place in market city and this is the ramen version. Their thing is that their broth and meat is beef not pork like ramen usually is. We were walking around the ward area and ended up here for a super early dinner. Our server was very friendly and the restaurant is small and homey. There's a lot of ways their menu is presented - on the front, menus on the table, hanging on the dividers between tables. Don't miss their specials which aren't always in each menu iteration. I wasn't super hungry so I ordered the smaller size ramen but then bc I wanted to add and egg and one veggie it ended up being more expensive than the full size one. But the hub reassured me that it was better bc no food waste. We also got a side order of some dumplings that had a white mayo like topping. The crispy gyoza with char siu is unlike any others I've had - the loose pieces of char siu beef make for a flavor bomb I inhaled in two bites. I got the Beefy Lite, which is a half order of noodles and comes with their signature char siu beef (so tender and a thicker slice than other ramen places), egg, bamboo shoots and green onion. Their beef broth was perfectly seasoned (I find most Ramen broth to be quite salty) and so good on its own. One thing to note about to-go orders: instead of just dumping it all into the bowl, which makes for an awkward splash into the broth, lift up the toppings, and use a spoon or fork to gently place them into the broth. Located at Ward Center, Kamitoku is more towards the right end of the row of stores facing the street, closer to the parking entrance, next block across the street after the theaters. Limited Spring edition, Wakame Ramen - 3.5 stars - Ramen was average size with flavorful soup with a lot of Wakame added. However, the beef, which was juicy and soft, was too salty. We also ordered the Beefy wild ramen, which had a blended creamy broth, and was better than my wakame broth. We also ordered the Seabura, but my son said it was super salty, and the red miso that they explained it was not spicy, but there was definitely a kick to it. Fried Oysters - 5 stars - very fresh, piping hot and crispy. However, $15 was a bit pricy. Takoyaki - 4 stars - Average as other takoyaki stores, but not as flavorful and crispy as Japan or another restaurant I ate at. Service - 4 stars - Although their description of non spicy was not accurate, and it was busy, our waters were filled, and they were very friendly. I have went to this place twice. The stuff stuff I have to say about this spot is just French kiss. From the broth, to the ramen, to the sides of the dishes. The chef and the people that works here really put there passion not just into there food they serve but also the way they represent the restaurant is phenomenal. I absolutely love Ramen and this place ties as #1 for me. It's just too hard to decide between but this one's definitely closer to me and so I've definitely been here often. Shoots it's so good, I'll gladly go in by myself They do get busy and they often will have bunches of people waiting outside so either go when they 1st open or maybe an hour before they close for lunch or dinner. When you walk in you are greeted by a friendly staff. Pop Art deco on the walls. In the middle is a sit at the bar which seats 10 people. Local music fills the air. The portions of the ramen are perfect. I had Shoyu Ramen which a bit salty to my liking. The beef char siu was very tasty and cooked just right. The noodles were perfect as well. Skip the deep fried gyoza , it taste like chemicals. I will probably come back and try the shoyu lite and get steamed gyoza. I recently tried Kamitoku on a visit to Oahu. I love ramen, so I asked my friends to recommend a good spot. We ended up selecting Kamitoku since they have a unique creamy beef broth that they use in some of their soups. I ended up going with the beef ramen with an extra egg. The broth had amazing flavor and was the best I've had in awhile. The noodles also had a good chewy consistency. The seared beef piece was okay, but the fattier parts immersed in the soup were better. I would actually sub the beef out for chashu if I were to go again. My table also ended up getting some takoyaki which were fried well and very flavorful. My friends also split the "beefy King" ramen which was a TON of food. I'd wager it was enough for 3 people. My usual ramen place is Gomatei. The tan tan broth is my favorite in Honolulu. And you can't beat their thick rolled pork belly char siu! But I am game for finding a good bowl of ramen and so last night I went to Kamitoku ramen next to Piggy Smalls at Ward Centre. At Gomatei I usually can't eat the whole bowl, and love taking home the leftovers--but I was going to see a movie after and didn't want leftovers, so I ordered the small Tantan ramen, to compare the broths. Shockingly their small ramen --is like kid sized. It came out in this little, little bowl--Just a little bigger than a miso soup bowl. Maybe three bites, six small bites? (Sorry no pics). And the broth--not as deep, rich, nor creamy as Gomatei, sweeter, a touch spicy. Unless you have a really small appetite, or are planning on ordering a bunch of appetizers, I'd recommend ordering the regular size. My meal mate's tsukemen looked better--didn't get to try it. The noodles were thicker--good for holding the dipping sauce. Regrading the charsiu--Gomatei has their pork belly charsiu roll. This place--had a thin piece of pork (but not paper thin, like some establishments). The gyoza--a different kind of wrappers--cooked more like a crispy gau gee and not as chewy or hearty as Gomatei. Nor was it like the small, paper thin wrapped ones that some places serve (not my preference either). This was medium sized. A picture would say a thousand words, but I didn't take one--so look in Yelp's photo section. Sorry Kamitoku--Gomatei is still my go to place for ramen. read more

Amazing restaurant! One of my top ramen restaurants even compared to the ones in Japan! Since I've been introduced to this place, I always bring friends and family who are down to eating at a new ramen restaurant. They've always had positive comments and want to go back. The broth is yummy and the meat inside is soft and tasty. I also like the garlic chip topping and side of egg. The prices are about the same as other ramen restaurants but they offer a lot more dishes. Ambience is hip and cool with small figurines placed on shelves and a big Marilyn Monroe wall art. I love their cross bone logo and cherry blossoms topping the center bar area. It's a small place and sometimes a line but its turn around is quick. Servers are down to earth and place is clean. It looks like the size of a ramen place you'd find in Japan. As for parking, there's parking at Ward Centre or across the street. They open later than the Ala Moana restaurants and late on weekends. Upon discovery of Kamitoku's humongous bowl of ramen, my husband insisted we go check it out so that he could try it for himself! We made a reservation and good thing we did, it was packed! We all ordered the Beefy Wild Ramen (my husband ordered the Beefy King) and it was delicious. My mom ordered the small size and we were really disappointed to discover that the small size is actually very tiny. It's a child sized bowl that even would leave a child hungry. When we asked immediately to upgrade her order, the waitress explained that she would be charged for a whole new order. Had we known the size, she would've ordered the regular size especially considering the small portion was half the regular size but a lot more than half of the regular price. My husband's beefy king was indeed a huge portion and he was very content. The beef flavor of the broth was unlike anything I've tried before and we all loved it.
