This is a great place to have lunch and dinner. Atmosphere is very comforting and warm. A favorite place for my family. Next to Americana at Brand where we like to walk often and when it comes to dining tasty and affordable we just cross the street to Karas. If you like Armenian style barbecue, Russian style zharkoye and okroshka - Karas is the place. Sometimes you may need to wait a little longer than you would expect but it worth waiting. Waters and waitresses are always kind and ready to help to decide on orders. Overall definitely 5 star for me. read more

First time visit to this place and we didn't feel very welcomed by some guy on the floor who wasn't a server, but was sometimes running food (who knows what he was doing besides just being serious the whole time). Anyways, we got there before a rush began so we did not have to wait too long to be served given that there was only one server. However, I never got an orange juice that I had ordered, and I had to get up and ask the non-server guy to get me a beer I had ordered after he walked past our table as he ignored my two calls for attention. This was very rude. The food was great (Chicken Lula) but doesn't go down well when you have service like that. Towards the end of our meal, the server was nice enough to bring us containers for leftover but then didn't bring our bill when we asked him to. So we had to ask again. We asked why we got charged this much, we thought it was buy one get one free, so they tell me that "we no longer have this special" so I said "then why do you have this advertised" ?!? First they didn't want to seat us inside and made us sit outside. Then it took them so long to come and take our order. When they finally took our order, they come back to tell us none of the pasta dishes were available, which is what we ordered. I ordered something else and they brought that but they didn't bring the other meal. We were tired of waiting for the other meal so we canceled it and asked for the bill. We paid and waited for the change which never came, so we talked to another waiter and all he did was bring us someone else's bill. So, they lost our receipt and couldn't remember what we order and how much we paid. If I could I wouldn't even give them one star because of their terrible service. read more

Karas is such a lovely place to have dinner with family/friends. I came here on a summer night with my two friends and ordered a lot of dishes but the one that stood out the most was the borsch soup! My friend once mentioned how he grew up with this soup when he lived in Yerevan and I've always wanted to try it. The broth was delicious along with the tender meat. I walked in with my kids and Lahmajoon is our favorite I place the order and 15 minutes later someone comes up to my table and tells me they don't have it !!we went in few weeks later I wanted to give them another chance and I walk in and before I go to my table I asked to make sure they have Lahmajoon again since I had an experience in the past that they ran out of Lahmajoon , gentleman said sure that they always had and they always have ! Ever since Karas opened earlier this year it has become my number one visited restaurant due to the wide variety of foods they offer. Food is great with very fair pricing and the staff is very helpful with the menu! Finally I had a chance to check this restaurant. Let's start from very beginning, located in the heart of Glendale this place will catch your eye with colorful design and cozy atmosphere. Don't think too long, just walk in, I'm not gonna write about food, because it's beyond words, you just have to try it. Feel free to seat yourself, restaurant doesn't have hostess but it does have very attentive stuff, so they will see you, if not push the button on the small thing that's on table, server will be noticed about your arrival. Order whatever seems nice to you, because prices are not gonna bite, comparable to food quality and taste this restaurant is very cheap, me and my friends ordered appetizers, soup, 2 hot dishes and a bottle of compot(organic drink made from fruits), this all cost us approximately 40$. This is really cool! Our waitress was the best one I've ever met, cute and very nice. No complain about service. Food may take a while though, but be patient people, this is not a taco stand, good food takes time, about 20 minutes...but it's worth waiting. If you will have any issue ask for Hovik, he's the manager and he will take care of you and anything you need. Karas just opened doors for Americans(turns out this is a very big chain of restaurants oversea) and still need some time for adjustments, but I'm more then sure this place will be the best dining spot in Glendale :) read more

Had dinner with the family here last night and everything we ate was delicious. My kids are very picky eaters and they had no trouble ordering what they wanted to eat and liked the food. I had the Spas and the New York steak. Spas was great and the steak cooked perfectly. My son had the Borscht which was delicious. We also had the greek salad. The rice with the steak was cooked great. Our waitress was very friendly and prompt in bringing our orders. The atmosphere and location was prime. The Olive salad is really good. The brussel sprouts are the best I've had in long time. If you just want to eat a salad. Order that. you wont be disappointed. We got some eggplant that tasted like it was fire roasted. Order that! It was very good! I ordered a cabbage salad and it reminded me of the salad I ate in Yerevan. Ordered some Borsht. If you have a Russian grandmother...don't order it. She will slap you! If you don't...then give it a shot. Nice piece of beef in the Borsht. Good flavour. No bay leaf in it and no parsley so it's more of an Armenian borsht than a Russian one. If you were born and raised in Tujunga you may not know the difference. Ordered the grilled fish and mash potatoes. I liked it. It's not a seafood restaurant so I wasn't expecting much. Surprised at the flavour. Didn't have room for anymore entrees. Ordered an espresso, creme brule, strawberry icecream and two eclairs. Ordered a Lungo...I had no idea what that was...but ordered it anyway. Wasn't disappointed one bit. All these people talking about bad service. I didn't see it. My guest asked if they had smoothies and was politely told no. A split second later the waitress said that she could make my guest one. We interacted with three waitresses...all super nice....all very pro. Quick to refill my ice tea. No complaints what so ever. Ignore the negative reviews. Call them growing pains.
