I would say 5+ ... but honestly even if it was me and another person, I still wouldn't come here. The hookah was good - but that was the only thing. The service was not good. The space is eh. I can't believe this is my first time leaving a review. I've been coming to this lounge for years. This is the best place if you need hookah, drinks or food. The service is A+ . My favorite server is LD! she is very attentive and always making sure I am taken care of. All of the hookah servers take care of me. Another honorable mention is Matta, Hassana,Skander, Essam and Mike I love coming to Karizma because of the ambiance and the good a** hookah. This place is my go spot during the week and the weekend. And shout out to the owner Adam. He is the absolutely the best. I love it here. All I ask is please tip them. They work extremely hard. No cons. read more

I went here 1-2 weeks ago on a weeknight for a light meal. Very nice environment and atmosphere. The place was quite empty which surprised me. There were no beers on tap for some reason, even though I suppose that there usually are. I ordered a basic Greek wrap. Kaftka, I think. It was good. I was a bit frustrated because they wouldn't make a "sauce" substitution that I requested (babaganoush instead of tahini). I didn't understand the problem, and I would have been happy to pay a little bit extra. Overall, the wrap was generally fine, but I wouldn't rush back. read more

Stumbled here for a post birthday celebration while jumping from spot to spot. Upon entering it seemed empty on the first floor near the bar. However we we're brought upstairs which was where the party was at. They had some decent music playing although there we're a lot of complaints from my friends since it was gloomy and sad songs circulating the playlist. Drinks were great, hookah was great. Food wasn't too bad as well. They did charge a mandatory 20% gratuity which kind of seemed unfair as they weren't giving us service as often due to where they placed us. They had to keep jumping over another group to get to us. So They only really came when we asked for things. Came on a friday night around 9pm. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. Very run-down place with extremely poor service. Food was mediocre at best. Hookah tasted burnt. Our round of drinks took 20 mins to arrive & were served to us just minutes before closing so we were pushed out by staff members before we could even finish our drinks. Staff members started to get very offensive and rude with our group of four. When we expressed that we had hoped to be able to finish our drinks and wait for our Uber (that was five minutes away) in a warm place away from the freezing temperatures, we were threatened and told not to come back, as if we would voluntarily return anyway...This place is just not good. Please do not waste your money here! Listen to the poor reviews - they are legitimate. I honestly do not understand why this place have such a high rate of reviews! It feels like the hole place run by few friends. Who don't know how things have to be don. When we came in the place had that weird smell. Dosen't feel like if they are cleaning the place every day or a list week. The rice could've been a little better but everything else was absolutely on point. I love it here. I bring all my friends here. What would make this place even better is some music. Went here one day afterwork and it was a good experience. Good appetizers and good hookah selection. The staff were very helpful and very accommodating. When I was having trouble with my hookah, they were so helpful with it, and also changing the coal. Also good music and good vibes all around. Terrible time. They over charged my cousin and I. They added gratuity and its never mentioned it and it is not listed anywhere on the menu. When I called about it the waitress was absolutely rude and told me my "gentleman friend should've noticed it". What should have been a $60 bill, we were charged $105.00. This is a lesser known hookah bar that is fun for that out of the box experience, and kind of reminds you of the good old days of hookah bars. We went to the second floor and there were clearly some technical issues. The benches didn't exactly fit into the wall, and it seemed that what as once a well frequented and popular bar, has not been renovated in years. That said, it's a good ambiance and a casual vibe. They also have TVs all over and pretty cool lights everywhere. The hookahs are perfect and come in fresh fruit. Service is super fast. They said they had a full bar but seems they could benefit from a drink overhaul. They didn't have an old fashioned, and seems pretty standard drinks like mojitos and Margheritas were missing from their overly complicated drink menu. However, they did have all of the following very popular drinks available - Porn star martini, leg spreader, death by sex, bikini bottom, screaming orgasm, and viagra to name a few Would be great if they had better craft beer, more whiskey on menu, or took notes from some speakeasies downtown. I went with two friends and we paid about $25 each for a drink and a hookah. Not bad. read more

BEWARE! The place perpetuates false advertising--they're false and misleading. They advertise these prices(see photos) but the prices are inflated significantly at the restaurant. I ordered the shrimp cocktail and got charged $17 and $33 for the lamb chops. The lamb chops was accompanied by boxed made potatoes-it was disgusting! Don't come here, periodt. The place is dim, sus, and looks like an abandoned cafe on a Broadway musical set for an outdated play. I'd hope you're coming here for hookah and nothing else because the food is poor. I made sure to get something to eat around the corner for this reason. Please, even Panda Express next door beats the food here. Lastly, I don't like the 18% automatic gratuity added to the bill. Sure, I'm not an asshole and have enough social decency to tip on my own, so why do that, in an already poorly lit facility for consumers to deliberately miss this policy and tip more on top of the already entitled gesture? No, I'm not a fan. It's not as if the servers are super attentive either. They get annoyed when you request for a hookah coal change and so forth. Ugh. Staying in Jersey for this. I ordered 2 hookahs, one glass of wine and one bottle of water and was charged $160 on my credit card. They add on 3% on credit card feed and 18% tip without question (which is no problem). I had put on an additional 24% tip without knowing though b/c I didn't know of the original tip. The waitress did not show us the original bill and acted like there was no tip. They can be manipulative. They give you a standard bill. Not itemized. I still can't see how my total came to $160. They were very deceiving the managers there when I called today, they did not want to stand down and I will fight them. read more

Once upon a time Ingrid was a young 22 year-old something freshly moved to New York City living on the upper upper East side in a closet. She had very few to almost no friends. An event that was described to me as a 'conservative bloggers gathering' was to be held one night and with the prospect of getting out of my cave, I decided to join. I had no idea what I was getting myself into or what a conservative blogger event even entailed. From what I remember 11 years later, it looked like an Indian exotic bordello. Actually that entire night was fairly fuzzy but I do remember the elaborate chandeliers, and the really nice dark velvet couches. Years later I'm walking around after grabbing pizza with the same roommate that took me to this conservative bloggers event. Things start becoming familiar on the street. We debate going to both the Horny Ram and Stag's Head and then come across a street sign advertising that happy hour was still continuing on until 7:30pm. Which was ideal because it was like 6:50 at this point. Suddenly it hits both of us that this was the same Indian Bordello from 11 years ago. Holy mind f*ck. In a state of shock I order the happy hour special of $5 wine and my friend gets the sangria. There's also beer (pretty basic beer but the wine wasn't that much better). Cocktails - seemed more interesting but only house well drinks were a part of the deal. I wasn't going to plunge for a $13 glass of Malibu black, Kahlua, Pineapple juice, and a splash of lime as tempting as it was at the time because can you imagine that going down well?! Hookah is also available. Various tables and a few stragglers by themselves were just chilling and relaxing. I feel like this place picks up more later at night. Or its just a place to relax and wait for a friend to go somewhere else. After washing down two rounds, and taking in the surrounding sites and going down memory lane, we asked for our check. This is where it quickly went downhill. While I was trying to pay my portion of the bill, my friend was incapable of flushing the toilet upstairs. I was incapable of paying. Literally. I asked to break a $20 because that was all I had and the staff said they had no cash. They wandered around for a bit trying to figure out how to break it and said they just couldn't do it. So then I asked if I could put my two drinks on my card. There's a $20 minimum is what I got back. So Ingrid stares blankly back and says "Well, what do you want me to do? I can't pay cash or credit apparently for my drinks." She finally cut me a break and just charged the ten bucks. But still. . . . . it felt more like a trap to try and get me to stay and spend more money and I'm not a fan of that one bit. I would have given this two stars for that pony trick in itself but the place does have sentimental value (somewhat) and its not a bad deal for hookah (which you don't normally see around here) and drinks on the upper east side/midtown east. read more
