Cucumber Salad (top left), Mashed Potatoes (top right), Rice Berry & Lemongrass Chicken with Massaman Curry (bottom)
    Bea R.

Khao kaeng - a traditional Thai dish consisting of steamed rice served with a variety of curries and side dishes. Kati Shop is the first fast-casual Thai eatery where you can customize your own curry platter. There's two Manhattan locations and a third opening very soon. Fingers crossed New Jersey is next!!! Y'all know I love a spot that's budget friendly, made with healthier ingredients, and still full of flavor. Kati Shop checks all three boxes! The menu is straightforward. You choose a base, a protein, a curry, and two sides. Everything is nut-free and gluten-free. Yep, you heard that right! The staff is friendly and helpful and will let you sample any of the four curries. My order: riceberry (base), lemongrass chicken (protein), massaman (curry), cucumber salad & mashed potatoes (two sides) ( ~$14). The platter hit the spot! The riceberry (purple-black jasmine rice) had a nutty flavor. The chicken was tender, but I couldn't taste much of the lemongrass seasoning. Not a big deal because the massaman curry was the star of the show! It was sweet, rich, and creamy with a fragrant blend of spices (cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, cumin). It's the most mild curry out of the four options, but it still brings a good amount of spice. The cucumber salad was refreshing, and the mashed potatoes were soft and buttery. To wash down your meal, I highly recommend trying one of their drinks. I've tried both the limeade Thai tea and home-brewed Thai tea. The Thai milk tea was made perfectly with a balanced blend of black tea, sugar, and condensed milk. It had a strong tea flavor with subtle notes of sweetness and spice. The limeade Thai tea (dairy-free) was a different take, but just as good. The fresh limes made the drink very refreshing and zesty. Seating is limited to a few stools at the counter tables, so this is more of a takeout spot. If you love the bold and aromatic flavors of Thai cuisine, but want a healthier and more balanced option, definitely give this a try!

A hidden gem near Times Square area . Lots and lots of restaurants nearby and I just wanted to try something different . Googled and found this place . Looked like a Chipotle version of Thai food ! Something new concept and I haven't been here before . Wanted to try ! Service was good . Went about 7 pm and not many people in the restaurant and hence the service was quick . Ambience was ordinary Got a chicken Thai plate . The green curry was fantastic . Really flavorful and tasty . Chicken was a bit dry ! Wish they fried it - which would have made it more flavorful . Unfortunately they ran out of most of the sides ! The only thing they had was egg and some salad . They had few other curries too. We also tried the tofu with Kati signature spicy curry . It was good too . Was spicy too. We just ate there .. few chairs to sit and eat . Overall a good spot but could have been better . Wanted to give 3 stars but gave it a 4 , for a new concept ...

Kati Shop is a very good choice for a healthy and filling meal. The eatery is not large, but you could see that they serve a lot of take-out orders. My lunch consisted of the grilled salmon, on a bed of shredded cabbage, sweet potatoes, and cucumber salad. This was accompanied by a Panang Curry (dried red chili, shallot, galangal, kaffir lime). That curry was perfectly spicy and elevated each bite to an incredible level. I dipped every forkful into that deliciousness and it will be one of the things that will keep me coming back.

Kati near my workplace is a great spot for a quick and satisfying meal. The curry is so delicious--rich, flavorful, and perfectly comforting. Service is quick and it's super convenient for lunch breaks. Definitely a go-to in the area!

curry spice isn't enough at all! so disappointed fall 2025

I'm surprised that this place has 5 stars. First of all, it was difficult to communicate with workers. :( second, the woman put only one scoop of curry to the rice that I've never seen.... :( oh really!! It wasn't enough for rice on the bottom.... This is for $12.99? There're some curry packed in the bag for less that this $ and more oz comes with. One woman who's done to me looked me so tired. I give another star because for atmosphere. Clean/self water service/napkins/restroom. Make sure if you're for take out, Enough curry on the top of the rice. But, the store should fix the portion of curry. they should poor at least 3-4 times. I hope management look for this review. I won't recommend their food. Unless you're satisfied with only one scoop of curry and too much rice in. :( :( :(

Love the food here. It's a fast casual Thai spot that serves multiple types of curry with lots of protein and side options. They have two locations, and this one is close to Bryant Park. Everything is super flavorful, and the curries all offer different nuances and heat level. I've tried the massaman and their house signature, and whole they're both delicious, I will warn that their house signature does bring the heat. One super fun thing is that they offer to to your mashed potatoes (if you choose that as a side) with massaman curry. It's the combination that I never knew I needed. There isn't a ton of seating so be prepared to take the food to go

Lemongrass Chicken with Panang Curry- very good

Kati Shop is a fast casual Thai food joint that serves great food at a very reasonable price. I had the lemongrass chicken with panang curry. For the base I choose the red berry and for my two sides I got the kale for both. Everything was super delicious and very affordable and I'd definitely come back.

Tasty and what seems to be health fast food place. Stopped here for quick dinner after work on a weekday. We got the CURRY PLATTER one with tofu and another with chicken. This came with some salad. Service was quick and food was good. It is a small space so sitting is limited.

SERVICE - small fast casual spot located near Times Square - 4 minute walk from subway station - a few indoor seats available - workers are friendly and helpful with pointing out allergens - many people doing take out MENU - build your own Thai inspired meal - vegan options available - well priced ($13 per bowl) FOOD - signature curry tofu with rice berry, kale salad, and roasted sweet potatoes (7/10): the signature curry is the spicier of the two vegan options and it lives up to the expectation set by the multiple chili marks on the menu. Since it is poured over the tofu, I would recommend waiting a few minutes after ordering to ensure the tofu absorbs its flavors. I liked the crunch of the rice berry as it is similar to wild rice. Out of the two sides, the kale was okay but not spectacular. The sweet potato is fresh and pairs well with the coconut milk drizzled on top. WOULD I GO BACK? Yes! It's a great quick option for lunch or dinner.

I had this place bookmarked, so since I was in the area, I wanted to check it out around lunchtime. Once you enter, there's a curry aroma that surrounds you. It's nice but a bit strong. You know that you're in the right place. There's a rope that tells you where to stand on the line, so there are directions unlike other places. On the line, there are workers who serve you in a row as you go along. Based on what you order as a protein and other extra items that you get, that is what you get charged. I got the Jasmine Rice as my base out of two choices. For the protein, I got steak, and after that, I got a curry to put over the protein and base. I also have my pick of two sides, which were the mushrooms and the sirarcha cucumbers. All in all, I enjoyed my meal, and I would like to go back to try different items.

How have I not heard of this place before?! The service was fast and convenient, and I knew I wanted to try as many Thai reminiscent flavors as I could. I loved that you could get some familiar proteins drizzled in curry, and the Somtum coleslaw had a slight but not overpowering kick to it. I spoke with one of the managers as well, and he was really friendly as we talked a bit about the history of the shop. Would definitely come through here and grab another meal when I'm on the go!

My meal at Kati Shop was sensational. I ordered from here for the first time this week. The menu is simple and focuses on Thai-style curry over rice with a healthy blend. The meals are tray style and come with your choice of two sides. I ordered the lemongrass chicken with massaman curry. Massaman curry is my favorite style of Thai curry and it usually has potato in it but I actually preferred that this one did not. It was sweet and spicy but not too spicy for me. It was also very rich and paired well with the lemongrass chicken. Easily one of the best massaman curry dishes I've had. For my sides I ordered the somtum slaw and larb mushroom. These were both simply prepared (no oils or dressings) but they were good. In my takeout order I specified that I wanted my rice packed separately from the chicken (which I understand is different than the "over rice" concept). They didn't quite understand my note but when I came to pick up the order, they were happy to fix it. The store itself is pretty small with some counters to eat. I probably would stick to takeout. Overall, this was a great meal, especially for a fast casual restaurant.

Amazing (spicy) Thai Curry flavor at a fair price by Bryant Park. Sort of like a Thai Curry version of Chipotle, Dos Toros, Naya, Cava, mezeh, etc. I tried Kati Shop as a takeout meal to enjoy at Bryant Park one weeknight and ordered ahead online (Grubhub via their website). Order was available promptly and the food was great. I ordered their kati signature curry with lemongrass chicken, cucumber salad, and larb mushroom ($12.40). Tasty, solid Thai flavors with a very nice spice level. Food portion was good and it also didn't feel too heavy (fried with a lot of batter, too oily, etc.). Would definitely have again when in Bryant Park area and feeling in mood for Thai Curry.

The service was friendly, attentive, and the food arrived quickly even they were a full house and rush lunch hour. Very quick and our server was amazing! We started with mango salad and chicken satay as these were the most popular. Their salad was purely mango with cashews and cherry tomatoes. Their chicken satay was also to die for! It was very flavorful and was perfect and went well with the salad. Their pad thai was so perfect it brought me back to when we visited Thailand few years ago. The crispy pork belly was a standout for me perfectly crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside, with just the right amount of richness. (Reminds me of Filipino Lechon Kawali) The fresh bean sprouts, scallions, and squeeze of lime balanced everything out beautifully. The soft shell crab in creamy curry egg sauce was also a must try! And lastly, we tried their mango sticky rice!! Absolutely no words... IT WAS DIVINE!!! If you're looking for authentic Thai food with elevated presentation, generous portions, and excellent service, Mitr Thai is definitely worth the visit. I'll absolutely be coming back to try more dishes!

I'm surprised people queued and surprised they actually lock people out. They have a policy of only seating whole parties. My friends were literally stuck amongst the world cup crowds in Times Square such that they struggled to get through and had to detour when they did. They have a 10 minute grace period, but my friends wouldn't make it in time, so I asked if they'll let us sit first as long as we start ordering immediately. They said ok as long as we returned the table by 6:30pm. I thought the 1.5 hour seating time was based on when we actually get seated which considers the grace period. Anyways the timing ended up being sufficient. I think this spot is good for pre-theatre dining due to the large storefront and quick service, but I wouldn't necessarily choose to come here for the sake of coming. Their menu is extensive and slightly confusing given the way they organize by regions in Thailand. I'm uncultured so I won't know what's the difference between each region. It's easier for me to comprehend if the menu was categorized by the ingredients used or size of the dish. Most dishes do not have a photo/drawing included so it was hard to skim through all the options. Their online ordering was way more helpful since it had photos. It was so hard to look for the corresponding line item in the printed version. We ordered: green curry, kao soy kua neur, khao mok neua, curry puff, kaeng hung lay, gai gor lae, and mango sticky rice. Most of the stuff tasted alright without much standout. We requested mild/little spicy for everything and it was true to request. The spiciest dish was probably the green curry, but I think it's tolerable if you eat it with rice. Crowd favorite was the kao soy kua neur which is braised beef with egg noodles. I like how tender the beef is and how chewy the noodles were. My friends didn't like the khao mok neua biryani because of its dryness, but I think it's meant to be like that. I appreciate the spices in it, not too strong but still sufficient. I don't like how they don't have a printed menu for desserts and relied on the servers to recite out what's available. We couldn't hear everything properly and resorted to referencing the online ordering menu for the dessert options. Glad they're the same. Mango sticky rice was the highlight of the night for me. The mango size could be slightly bigger, because right now it's much smaller than the rice. However, I enjoyed the rice a lot. It was hot, fragrant, and not too soft. It definitely felt comforting. The coconut milk on the side had rice puffs (?) in it which gave additional texture.

I first ordered the crispy spring rolls, which were very good. For my main I had the Massaman Curry. Now folks, this is my favorite curry of all time -- actually one of my favorite foods of all time -- and while it's common in LA where I used to live, it's not as common where I live now, in the Bay Area. And the restaurants that do carry it usually do not make it right and it's not very good. I am used to Massaman in the traditional preparation where it's more like a beef stew made with chunks of beef and needs to cook overnight. When done right it is the most aromatic curry ever -- it's almost like an aphrodisiac! -- and the beef comes out oh so tender. Usually if places have this curry but then offer a choice of protein, then it generally is not cooked properly, and that is actually how they prepare it at SaiTong. But because of such great reviews I decided to take a chance and try it. Well, let me tell you, it was definitely not the norm...it was absolutely delicious! I had it with chicken (they serve breast as default), and the chicken soaked up the curry really nicely. I also asked for there to be no onions, which I think alters the flavor of a curry too much. It does include the traditional potatoes and peanuts, and the potatoes were fine and cut into nice little chunks, the peanuts actually were thrown in raw.. what I think is the more traditional way which is to actually burn the peanuts a little bit, but that's okay, it didn't take down the dish any. Their brown rice is of the very dark kind, which I like, and goes so well with the curry. Service was wonderful from the bartender but was also provided by the rest of the staff and everyone was so nice. I left there feeling so satisfied, and cannot wait to go back and try some other dishes.
