    What is that?

They are overpriced and cheating! I got a nail on my rear tire on my motorcycle. Once I came to KC Engineering, the lady was friendly and tried to help with no appointment. BUT When she mentioned the price of repair $146 I was shocked! I asked why it's so expensive because it's almost a price of a new tire! But she said that price of a new tire would be $320 ! I have never had experience like this with a motorcycle any tire was flat so I didn't have a choice, so I believed her. When I saw how they did the repair and after I came home and did some research I realized that is not only expensive- It's SUPER overpaid for this type of work. This service is really OVERPRICED as it was done with a stop-n-go kit. (40$ on Amazon) To use that kit you don't need to take off the tire and take 15 minutes instead 1 hour but they try to charge you more as labor is expensive, so they took my tire off!(Btw lost small cap from nipple) Feels like cheating! Also saw people in similar situations below in comments. Too bad I didn't check Yelp before going there! And yes new tire exactly like mine cost around 200$

I had a carburetor issue with my bike (Suzuki DR650). Going full throttle through all the gears onto the GG Bridge, popping clutch up and what not, like I was drag racing or something. SF Moto was closed that day so the tow truck driver brought it to KC Engineering. They have safer parking if you have to leave it on the street without being able to have a shop bring it inside. Long story short the needle actually came loose and fell deeper inside the carb. They did a full jet kit replacement, filled my tires with air, and put a leftover fuel hose on the gas cap. (Had my old Acerbis gas cap for the vent bleeder stolen while riding solo in Mexico) The bike idles very differently and the carb feels a lot more consistent/smoother than before. Albeit I never could stall out the bike if I went full throttle. That sometimes happens now if I am going from idle or 1st gear. It's almost at random not sure if it's related to the work or another issue altogether. They put the bike on a dyno for the jet kit which was cool. Now if I can just figure out this new issue! Other things to keep in mind is that the shop seems very busy so it will take longer than you think. Stephanie was quite keen on getting me out of the shop but it might have been corona virus, my skull mask, and buzz. (What all the barbers are closed man)

There are a few things that happen when you ride motorcycles, first is at some point, you will need mechanical assistance and second, AAA does not like motorcycles. I ran out of gas on Hawthorne and Folsom in the city. Luckily, I use to work around the corner from on KC and although I never used them to wrench, gave them props for just being there for being there as long as I can recall. Gas stations don't seem to have gas cans any longer but the folks at KC understood my plight, lent me a can and only charged $5 for a falling to get me to a station. As a small business owner, I recognize his hard it is to keep the doors open so big thumbs up for being super helpful and not gouging me to death.

    Great service

Does KC Engineering do tires for a Vespa GTV250 (2008)?

I have a 2002 Motto Guzzi v1100 le mans, it needs new clutch plates, rear tire , indicators, handle bars, alternator, tune and power commando re-mapping. To name a few of the issues...would this be a project K C would take on?

I'm pretty sure they can bruh. Call them on Monday, talk to Stephanie.. she's the best and will take care of whatever you need ASAP. Good luck!

Do they perform bike wash/cleaning here?

Hi. My brother is just now San Francisco. And he doesn't know where he can look for any handlebar just like an old school stye for motorcycle. Can you help him where he can find? Maybe store name?

Here's what stood out though: instead of feeling like it was time to dip out after the test ride, I ended up staying there for several hours just talking. Not because anyone was trying to "sell" me something the moment I walked through the door, but because they were genuinely great to talk to. I mostly worked with Josh and also spoke with the manager (super chill and easygoing) and a couple of other employees. At no point did I get the sense of "this is what YOU need." Instead, it felt more like, "Here are some options, let's talk bikes," with a few jokes thrown in along the way. In the end, I went with a different bike that they didn't sell. But the experience still left me wanting to support this shop any way I can. They have plenty of bikes that a great for most riders in the city, a knowledgeable staff, and fair pricing. My poor twenty-year-old car continues to attract random vandals in San Francisco. This time,…read moresomeone took what looked like a baseball bat to my driver's-side mirror. Eugenio is the man. Because of the positive experience I had with him last time at the service center on Geary Boulevard in the Inner Richmond, I brought my car here this time (he had moved to this location in the interim). Once again, he lived up to my expectations and was very communicative throughout what ended up being an annoying experience. None of the annoyingness was due to anything this place did. Rather, it took forever for me to get things working with my insurance, and when they finally got back to me, Eugenio was ready to take my car. I told him about the damage, asked him to inspect a few other items specific to my car, and had some non-vandalism work done (that I would pay for out of pocket). He agreed and got things rolling with the insurance adjuster they assigned to me. Unfortunately, Progressive randomly determined that the damage was due to a hit-and-run accident rather than vandalism, which I thought the evidence clearly showed, so rather than pay the $100 deductible I would pay under my comprehensive insurance, I had to pay the $500 collision deductible instead. Even the process of getting that straightened out took forever due to Progressive's lagging, so San Francisco Toyota had my car for almost an entire week before they (insurance) gave them the go-ahead. The real kicker for me was that Progressive didn't even pay the shop directly, so I could have had them fix everything right after they inspected it. (I paid Toyota, and Progressive is supposed to reimburse me the difference between the actual cost and my deductible. *Fingers crossed*.) The work was done professionally and well. I should say promptly too, which it was after all the insurance-caused delays. Eugenio helpfully provided photos of some of the other things I asked about and recommended some other repairs. I told him I'm just trying to get as much life out of this car as I can, and he totally understood and didn't try any kind of hard sale. In fact, that's why I like him and followed him here: He's honest and efficient. The physical setup here is also nicer than on Geary. There, you drive your car into a parking lot crammed with cars either waiting to be repaired or picked up, and you often have to wait in line in your car until someone can see you. At this location on Van Ness, you drive into the building, and because there's extremely limited space on the ground floor, they immediately move your car upstairs, even before you've finished talking to the service person. At first, it seemed sudden, but it also made it feel like the entire drop-off process went faster. When you pick your car up, they bring it down for you, no need to go searching in a parking lot for your car. The little waiting area is also very comfortable, although I didn't spend any time there except while I was paying my bill. As long as I have a Toyota in San Francisco, I'll continue to trust this San Francisco Toyota Service Center location for specific repairs, especially when insurance is paying for (part of) them. I would give them five stars except that it is a dealership, so the prices are on the higher end.

Years of Documented Key Fob Issues, Zero Accountability, Locked Out of My Own Car…read more We purchased our RAV4 from this dealership. From early on, both key fobs - mine and my husband's - repeatedly failed to be recognized by the car or displayed false "low battery" warnings. Over the past three years, we have replaced the batteries approximately 10 times across both fobs. This is not user error. Both sets of keys developed the same issue simultaneously, ruling out water damage, dropping, or mishandling on our end. This is a systemic problem with the vehicle or its key recognition system. We have called in multiple times and been told it's a battery issue. We have brought the car in for a service appointment where they ran diagnostics and, again, told us to replace the batteries and found nothing wrong. They have documented records of these interactions, which they confirmed over the phone today. Today, the inevitable happened. While parked in my own garage at the start of a workday, I exited the car, it auto-locked, and both key fobs failed to function, leaving my keys, laptop, wallet, and all of my belongings locked inside. I called the Toyota Service Center, which is just a few blocks from my home, hoping for some goodwill given our years of documented complaints. Instead: I was repeatedly told it was a battery issue the same deflection we've heard in the past. When I pushed back on that they told me if I want a new set of keys I can buy them (they are $350-500). I was told I would need to pay to tow my car to their facility just to run a diagnostic they've already run, with a result we already know They offered no solution, no urgency, and no accountability, and treated me as if I'm trying to game the system. I don't want to be dealing with this and don't care if I have new or old keys. I just want them to work and I want to be safe when driving about. I was repeatedly routed to an AI phone system with no estimate of when a human would call back, while I stood locked out of my car I now have to pay for a locksmith out of pocket, and Toyota is telling me replacement key fobs cost hundreds of dollars each, also at my expense, despite years of reported issues that were never properly resolved. What makes this especially frustrating: they have documentation of prior complaints on file. This wasn't a surprise to them. And still, I was treated as if I was being unreasonable for asking them to take responsibility. I'm lucky this happened at home and not while I was out somewhere, truly stranded. Do not assume this dealership will stand behind their vehicles or their customers when something goes wrong. Our experience has been years of deflection, and when the problem finally became undeniable, the answer was still: your problem, your cost. Buyer beware.
