Well, first I can say "my fault for seeing a new stylist." Every few years I grow my hair long and then cut off enough to donate, usually resulting in a shoulder length bob. In fact, I showed the stylist a picture of a shoulder length bob. I also said, "as long as it still fits in a pony tail." So here's my perception of what took place. I sit in the chair and the stylist eyeballs what she thinks is a donatable amount. She doesn't ask any questions, she quickly puts the pieces in ponytails and chops them off without a breath. My hair is at my ears. I can't even pinch the hair at the nape of my neck with my fingers. Not only that, but the right side is longer than the left side so most attempts at putting anything up look stupid since the bottom half is so uneven. The whole haircut was rushed - I was traumatized from the first moment. Quickest and most careless haircut I've had in my entire life... I have never felt less heard. I also said "I don't like layers" THE WOMAN CUT LAYERS. The woman was coughing all over me and when she finished, she ran out before I could ask any questions, or ask who to pay or tip or anything. And look, I get it, it's hair. I'll live. In a few months, I'll have the length I want and I'll find someone more responsible with their clientele. I've been thinking about this review for over a month. I called the front desk, and I tried to reach out to the salon manager's cell phone. I did not hear back from the manager. (edited) Every day is different, but when you say "I just want to look sexy" and you come out looking like a frumpy 45 year old soccer mom (there are hot soccer moms out there! They just don't have this haircut)... it just doesn't sit right. Terrible terrible experience. read more

I want to start off with saying that this salon is very clean and presentable when you first walk in. The staff is incredibly nice and accommodating to their customers. The front desk girls are wonderful, super sweet and have such positive attitudes. I'm always shy when they ask if I want anything to drink --to not be an inconvenience to them but their staff is so welcoming, I don't feel afraid to say yes to a nice coffee while getting my hair done. My sister went and got a blowout done by Natalie and it was absolutely beautiful. So I made an appointment with another stylist , to try out the salon. I have short thick hair and all I asked for was a hair wash and blowout. She didn't rly take time washing my hair and didn't touch my lower scalp. And then when she was blow drying my hair she made comments about how fried it was. & the blow dry itself was eh. Not the biggest fan of when hairstylists make comments like that in an effort to steer you towards buying a product. Nice girl but the effort just wasn't there. read more

Went in just to get my hair dyed to a dark chocolate brown. Beautiful salon and my hairstylist was pleasant. Why the two stars? There was dry hair dye all over the back of my lower scalp because she didn't wash out all the hair dye. It definitely wasn't from staining from the way it dried down to powder in my hair.:( For the amount of money that I'm paying, the basics should be washing out all the hair dye out properly before blow drying my hair. I've been coming to this salon for quite a while now. We think Scarlet is great. I am not giving the salon a 1 star because of Scarlet. In fact if this review was solely based on our experience with Scarlet, I would give them 5 STARS!!! The reason I gave a ONE STAR is because of the customer service we received. When I called for an appointment, they said that my daughter and me would be able to have our services done by Scarlet but that I would have to opt for another stylist for my mom. This was fine since I figure they're a reputable salon and my mom had not been here before. The day that we had the service done, they notified me that since my mom wanted a pixie cut, they can only do the color since the stylist we were booked with did not do that type of haircut. The receptionist asked me if I wanted to come another day. I explained to her that it will be really hard for me to come another day since I work and I take care of my elderly mother, teenage daughter and a toddler. Plus it's the holidays and I really wanted all three of us to have our fair done for Christmas. If I were to come back, it will have to be after the new year. She told me that she was going to check her schedule and get back to me. Here is where I felt they handled the situation poorly. She (receptionist) never came back to tell me what the outcome of her search was. When I went to approach her at the front desk, she then told me that she didn't have anyone available and that we would have to come back another day. I tried to explain to her that I couldn't come back another day. I tried explaining to her my situation but her response was somewhat rude. She stated that she couldn't do anything for me and that I should have specified what I wanted when I booked the appointment. I'm sorry but I did specify that my mother needed a haircut when I booked the appointment. How am I supposed to know that not every stylist that worked in the salon are not trained to do a haircut for short hair. Wouldn't that be the responsibility of the person taking the calls to ask questions to your customers. Questions like what kind of haircut are you looking for so I can put you with the right stylist. Even when I told them that I wanted to do balayage, I asked if it would be best to come in for a consultation. So, I think I did my part in communicating what we wanted. Don't put it on the customer that they "did not specify the kind of haircut they wanted". Also, don't tell your customer that you're going to get back to them and leave them hanging. That's not good customer service and it's down right rude. read more

I love this salon! I've been to see Thuie three times now and have had great experiences. She is especially talented at getting a sense of what would look good. For example, I've had so many stylists who were more like technicians and copied pictures exactly. Thuie is an artist. I went the first time for a haircut and she helped me choose from a few pictures, giving me a beautiful haircut, styling tips, and products. She gave me suggestions like highlights to cover my grays and a Brazilian blowout. After cutting and styling, she went back in with scissors until she was happy. My second visit was for the highlights. I wasn't sure what to ask for but she showed me a picture on Pinterest and I agreed; I'm dark brown and she lightened me quite a bit but I still feel brunette. She gave me beautiful beachy curls for an event. Without even asking, she just came up with such a nice look. It's like she can read my mind with what I like! Bright, vibrant, and libations at your request. My stylist, Audrey, recently moved to the Kenneth Brown Salons and she still gives me an amazing haircut and awesome conversation. The only thing that has changed since her move is that my drive is a little farther and the salon is much nicer. She cuts both men and women's hair and does color as well. In fact, my wife uses Audrey's superior coloring skills on the reg. I really enjoy the waiting area. It has a complimentary coffee bar, chilled water, and if you're having a, "me day" beer or wine while you shine! The receptionists have been different every time I go in, but they are always super friendly and inviting. The salon itself is pretty big and you don't feel like you're right on top of each other. The parking is is tricky. Normally it's great, unless it's lunch time and then it's pretty crazy and near impossible to find a spot. Just try to book a 10am appointment or early to mid afternoon spot. I booked a 3:30pm appointment and parking was a snap. Heads up, there's parking in the back of the salon too. Taylor Lorden has been my stylist for 3 years now, and my favorite I've ever had in my 12 years of coloring my hair. I'm a bit whimsical with my hair, so every time I go in for an appointment, I want something different than the last lol! Taylor's pricing is very reasonable for Orange County and the quality is top notch. I'm always so happy leaving the salon, and I've recommended about 8 people to her just in the past 2 years, who have all been returning clients for her. ALEXANDRA IS THE ABSOLUTE COLORIST SHE PERFORMED MAGIC ON MY HAIR! The before and after pictures I posted speak for themselves but basically my hair was super over bleached from crappy hair colorists prior over processing it and layers of bleach and damage etc and then I made it even worse by trying to touch up my own roots with a pharmacy boxed hair lightener kit, which turned my roots orange and was super uneven, I looked like an electrocuted leopard it was horrible. Not only did Alexandra fix my color in record timing, but she also somehow improved the health of my hair by like 1,000%. This is the first time in like 2 years I've actually had soft hair I can run my fingers through after color vs hair that felt like a Brillo pad and it still had the color texture and lightness to it that I wanted (my natural color is practically black and I didn't want to go back to black despite the state of my hair, and Alexandra worked her magic and didn't make me have to). She delivered exactly what I had asked for (which believe it or not I find quite rare), fixed a hot mess, and she is also just the sweetest and easiest person to talk to the time flew with her she's lovely! Highly recommended, in fact she's a must for color! Never going to anyone else, thank you Alexandra you're my savior! Oh and the salon is very clean, everything sterilized and covid friendly you get temp checked, and masks required, the stations and all utensils are sanitized between clients, very nice and modern ambience, TV's in front of the sinks, can't recommend the salon and Alexandra in particular more! read more
