Luckily another staff member came out from the back kitchen and jumped in to help. The staff spoke fluent mandarin. I was interested in their box cakes. A few of the yelpers raved about their soy milk cake and luckily they had one out for sampling. It was covered with lots of cream and the cake layer was soft and moist, but it was still slightly too sweet for me and I felt that it lacked the tofu kind of soy flavor. Then, I spotted on their menu that they have a black sesame matcha box cake, and black sesame is always my favorite, so I asked for it. They had the last one left! The staff said she had never tried it so she couldn't tell me if it is less sweet than the soy milk cake. Since it was the last one available and I already sampled the soy cake, I decided to give it a try. I am happy that I did. The cake was filled with matcha mousse and tasted light and aromatic with the jasmine kind of matcha flavor. It is definitely less sweet. Unfortunately, it doesn't have as much black sesame as I'd like. It's a small bakery with lots of trays of individually packaged cakes and pastries. The smell was very pleasant and comforting. Using a flat basket (or tray) I grabbed a few selections. I picked 2 "Heart Pies" that resembled my favorite French Butterfly Cookies. Also 2 pound cakes. The total rang up to just over $21. There's some small tables for enjoying your purchases there, but I took my items to go. The icy cold fruit smoothie was very good and very cold! Not too sweet, it had a natural strawberry taste. The Heart Pies were good and fresh. But the Pound Cakes were probably "day old." I noticed there's no dates or "best by" tags on the packages. It's a nice place to visit, and I will return again. If you like surprises, are omnivore & no special diets or food allergies, Too Good To Go is the way to explore. The items were in generic packaging without labels, so take a pic of the items you like so can order when visit next time. While my family enjoyed all the items, I really enjoyed the black sesame studded puffy rolls that I think were made with rice flour. There was a large group of older Asian ladies, including one who brought their lap dog, enjoying good conversations in their native language with their baked goods and tea or coffee.
