This was a surprisingly good sushi place. They have all the basics you would want from a sushi place, and it was all done well. The specialty sushi was very good. I also had the udon, which was some of the best I've had in my quest for udon. Still haven't found my favorite udon place, but the broth here wasn't flat or watery like other places. Their soy sauce is a little salty, though I guess I'm used to light soy sauce. It's supposedly a fusion restaurant, but I didn't try anything from the fusion list. They offer takeout, so maybe I'll try that. I have to make a note about the atmosphere. The atmosphere pulls off the fusion idea well, with old school japanese beams and modern colorful lights. Overall, the decor is charming. With the exception of the music, which I hope was just a one night thing because all that was playing was Usher and Mariah Carey songs. I went to this restaurant last Saturday with my cousin, and all I can say is: HORRIBLE. It wasn't very busy for a Saturday night and yet we were rushed the entire meal. The wait staff was unprofessional and rude. The table was sticky. My waitress rolled her eyes when I asked for a packet of sugar. I haven't experienced such horrible service in a very long time. As for the food, it was mediocre at best. There are so many other great sushi spots on Staten Island and it's safe to say that I'll never be returning to Kiku. read more

This service is horrible. I called for delivery and they told me 20 minutes. Before I even ordered I got hung up on twice and then when I called back to change from delivery to pick up got hung up on three more times. My boyfriend has been here before and liked the food so I thought we would try it and figured they were just busy. When I got to the restaurant about 40 min later I had to wait another 35 minutes which would make what was suppose to be a 20 min time frame an hour and fifteen minutes. Then the girl charged my credit card twice because I paid over the phone and then she charged it again in the store even though I told her that she already charged me over the phone. She wasn't paying attention at all. Then they were not greeting other people who walked in and two people waiting to be seated left. After that the girl starts talking to her friend at the counter about how she was going out to get drunk later. I have never had such horrible service in my life. I am a fan of this little sushi place. It is located directly next to the Eltingville train tracks and you can easily drive right by it and miss it if you're not looking for it. The food here is very good and always tastes fresh. There is parking in the rear lot and on the street. The staff is usually attentive and polite. The decor is also pretty nice. They deliver, do take out, and dine in. I recommend trying the rolls here - any of them. They are creative, delicious, and the plate presentation is always well done. Average sushi, good lunch special, I usually order take out. The menu is very big, almost makes it difficult to make a decision on what you want. The venue itself has terrible parking. I eat here a few times a week bc it's the closest to my job. Nothing to brag about, but my favorite thing on the menu is the grilled pineapple chicken salad with red wine dressing. We enjoy eating out at the many Sushi places that keep (thankful) opening throughout Staten Island, as this borough expands on what it has to offer. I realized that although we have visited Kiku three times in the last few years that they have been opened, I never posted a review. Overall they are a very nice place to enjoy a nice Sushi meal in, with good atmosphere & extremely friendly service staff. They also have the added benefit of being nearby for us. They have parking in the back (although it's a bit of squeeze to get back there.) We have a little more of a preference for Tomos, if we are eating Sushi out, nearby our home, however, KiKu certainly does a very good job at presenting fresh, well prepared, fish to their patrons. When they first opened, they were a little better of a value, offering a great deal of special priced items & coupons, however, that seems to have died down a bit, so they are now a little pricey for dinner. They most important thing is the sushi, maki, & sushimi offerings themselves, & these always seem to be very fresh & flavorful. It is better, here, to spend a little more on the very nicely done specialty roles that they offer and that do not disappoint. I do wish they offered a tad more in the way of fish selection & specialty, high-end offerings. They did have Uni for me, one out of the three times that we went, however, the Uni was very expensive per piece & not as large as the orders I get at our favorite Sushi places. They have a nice take on some of the standard sushi appetizers, such as the Sushi Pizza, or grilled crab, they were both nicely presented. read more

Kiku was the first place I ever had sushi and since then, I've been disappointed with nearly every other place I've tried. The prices are great, deliveries are quick, and needless to say the food is top notch. I absolutely love the rock shrimp tempura appetizer and the rolls. My friends usually gets the dinner box, which is such a great deal for all the food you get. It's also super easy to get to from the Staten Island Railroad. Definitely worth a trip! read more

The is a small quant place without the bells and whistles, very clean and nice inside but not super fancy which I appreciate. Best sushi on Staten Island without question. I am a foodie and eat sushi weekly and this is the freshest sushi I have had in the area and is comparable to the quality you can get in NYC. Great service! This restaurant is a diamond in the rough!! This small, trendy, and delicious sushi restaurant is by far one of the best i have been to when considering quality of sushi, ambiance, and price. First, when eating sushi my primary concern is freshness. It is CONSISTENTLY FRESH every time I dine here (7months now). Yellow tail Jalapeno hand roll is so fresh, the thin strips of jalapeno maintains is crunchy freshness. The roll "Sex in Kiku" is another must have! All of there special appetizers are also soooo good! "Avocado Ball" is to die for! It is a ball of Spicy tuna inside wrapped around with fresh slices of avocado drizzled with all of kiku's special sauces. There prices are beyond reasonable for sushi! You also cant go wrong with there unlimited hot sake! Service is a little lacking at times. (or I would have given them a 5) Been dining there at least once a week and some of there servers cannot seem to get it right. However, I love the sushi too much to be bothered. read more

I can honestly say I've never had a bad experience with Kiku. I even order delivery every time so that's an accomplishment in my opinion. Their sushi is so fresh, I denied it for a long time. I always thought it would be gross but I was wrong! I usually get the avocado roll, cucumber roll, and veggie tempura roll. So good! It was the first sushi I've tried and I fell in love. That's saying something! Everyone I know likes the sushi from here, especially those who ordered seafood. We all love it and order from their semi-regularly. Try them! read more

I absolutely love this place. While I can't give a decent opinion on the service (I usually order in) I will say that the sushi and sashimi are terrific. The delivery is usually top notch and here within 20 to 30 minutes. If I feel like treating myself to something nice, I'll typically get a special roll from here. Ordered dinner on a Friday night during Lent. After one hour I called to make sure they had my order. After an hour and 45 I called again to reorder .. They nastily assured me that the order was out for delivery. It's three hours now and we have given up, defeated. Defrosted bagels from the freezer and that became our Friday night dinner. Kiku apparently does not have the resources to satisfy all their customers on a busy night of the week. Make sure you have a back up meal before you place your order. read more

Update March 2017: I decided to give this place another chance so I called to place an order for some sushi rolls to be delivered to my home. The lady who took my order was extremely rude and nasty! She kept making mistakes while taking my order down so in the end I nicely asked her to just repeat my order back to make sure everything was correct and she gave me the NASTIEST attitude ever & began yelling at me for no reason! I told her that she was insulting me for no apparent reason and that she can just cancel my order. This place needs to hire staff members that possess basic manners and know how to courteously talk to people. I gave this place a second chance after having prior bad experiences but I will never even attempt to order from here again! Save your time and energy and order from elsewhere! I have been ordering sushi from here for the past few years now. The food is mediocre but the staff is EXTREMELY rude & disrespectful! They have made mistakes with my orders on numerous occasions and I have let it slide countless number of times. However, it is not worth paying extra for something and not getting what you ordered. The past two times that I did call to report issues with my delivery orders (where I was charged for something that I never received), the "so-called" manager had the audacity to disrespect and yell at me over the phone. Even though I had the receipt, in which I was overcharged for my sushi rolls and wasn't sent the correct order, she had the nerve to argue with me and disconnect the phone on me. Instead of talking to me with some respect and tending to my concerns and sending me the correct order or refunding my money, the manager deemed fit that disconnecting the phone on me was a better option. I frequent here and it is definitely my SI sushi place. The sushi is usually very good and they don't use too much rice. They also have very good lunch and dinner boxes, all at very good prices in comparison to surrounding places. The service depends on who's there but I have never had a problem. Do not let this place fool you. Whoever the manager is has 0 respect whatsoever. She treats her employees like shit and has no remorse for how she speaks to you. The way she acts towards customers used to fool me by her "manners" but that has all gone down the drain once I saw the other side of her.
