Really enjoyed a lighter lunch during our visit to DTLA, with the food tasting very good for both my wife and me. Killer Kabab (fast food mediterranean) has two locations, with the other being in the Sawtelle area near West LA. There are multiple Kabab shops near the hotel that we were staying, so chose the closest one. It wasn't too busy inside, with plenty of seating so placed our order and paid through the kiosk. The food took a bit of time to come out, delivered to our table. No soda fountain, so got a can of soda ($1.99) which you pick up yourself from the nearby bev fridge. We shared a Mix Grill plate ($21.95), consisting of a variety of things, all of which we enjoyed. The bed of tumeric rice was well cooked. The beef fillet, chicken breast chunks, and the beef kofta were all excellent: very tender, well seasoned, and well grilled. A few grilled vegetables were added, along with a really good plain hummus and pita braed. It also came with two side dips/pastes: a really good garlic paste that went great with the grilled beef and a yellow 'buttery' sauce that was great with the chicken. It also came with a small side salad, and some really tart pepperoncini. All of this added to a good light(er) meal, mixing various tastes and textures really well.

We were parked on Figueroa Street and decided to save some money by walking to this restaurant. The food was so good and filling, with me having some delicious Hummus and Pita Bread while my friend had kabobs. Service seemed slow, but the food was fresh, so well worth the wait. Nothing to write home about the area or the atmosphere, as this is more an eat and run type of restaurant, with many workers only getting a half hour lunch. Next time, I would call ahead and just pick it up...

BEWARE MISLEADING PICTURES! Ordered a sandwich/wrap pictured with lettuce, tomato, and more... got just a kabob wrapped in thin dough. So misleading I got a refund from Uber.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place! It's a small fast food kind of establishment. Food was solid and service was very fast. We ordered the chicken kabob plate and the beef shawarma wrap, both of which were quite good. I wish the beef shawarma was a little softer but otherwise it was good. There is a limited time offer for BOGO wraps but we sadly didn't see it until after we had ordered.

Food is just ok. It used to be better. Today it seemed somewhat dry. The shawarma plate includes a generous portion. I do not recommend the shawarma fries. The service is ok and the ambiance is very casual. There is a kiosk tablet to order on your own.

The last time I visited this location was about 3+ years ago and it was called Z falafel. I see that it's still Mediterranean food but now it's (rebranded???) to killer kabab and it looks like z falafel moved to another location. Both their websites look the same. Sad to say but quality is not the same and the portions were like half of what I remembered from my last visit. Flavor of the meat was super light, did not really taste much seasoning. I don't see myself coming back. The place was clean and the service was quick.

We chose this place because dude it was walking distance from our other event so we wouldn't have to re-park. It was clean and bright. The staff were friendly. You order on a tap screen which is easy enough and they bring bout the good. I requested water which they provided but they had no ice. The shawerma fries were ok though the fries were not crisp, the salmon plate was ok though the rice tasted bland, the chicken kabab wrap was ok though the pickles in it had a strange texture. The best items we tried were the grape leaves and the garlic sauce that accompanied the food. The food was satisfying though not the best Mediterranean food I've had.

Came here because the reviews were really good, and I left disappointed and underwhelmed. I ordered the chicken shawarma wrap. The photos made it look extremely appealing, however what I received was not anything like what was advertised. The Chicken Shawarma is supposed to have fries in it and there was literally only two fries in my wrap, the chicken was dry, the wrap was dry, there was hardly any sauce on it, and the flavor was extremely underwhelming. The lady that assisted me with ordering also prepared the meal and the customer service was equivalent to what I was served.

Had the pleasure of visiting @zfalafel8 during my work lunch hour for their delicious Chicken Shawarma and Chicken Kabob ! It was served with pita, hummus, rice, pickled veggies, and falafel on this aesthetic square plate! Just take a look at these platings!! They have two locations in Downtown LA so if you're nearby make sure to visit your closest location. My coworker Alexis and I are huge fans of Mediterranean food so we devoured our meals! The Greek food was good, standard gyro and fries but the shawarma wrap was so bad. Meat was seasoned with cinnamon or something not shawarma mix and had a ton of shredded lettuce, and yogurt sauce when I asked for tahini?? Really gross. I went to whole foods to get a quick bite, well it was a whole disappointment they are selling burritos with pure beans!!!! It was sooo trash and thats exactly where it went. Anyway I decided to try this place and the staff is very welcoming which is not common in downtown Los Angeles. This is the second time I ordered from Z falafel, the first time I didn't have a good experience. Tony the owner reached out to me and was very kind and attentive, asked me to give them another try and I just did. I ordered through Uber eats. The food this time was well cooked and tasted very good. I am happy to say I'm glad I gave them another try. The food here is really fresh and delicious. If you're vegan or vegetarian this is going to be the best place for choices on choices. I love the lentil soup. It's so good and filling. Such deep flavors. The falafel is really delicious and crunchy. And, you have to eat the hummus with the falafels!!! I can taste that the ingredients are fresh. You can taste the difference between previously frozen falafel and fresh. If you're splurging get the feta fries. I can also attest to the taste and tenderness of the chicken and beef kabobs. Get some hot peppers to add a little bit of spice. This place is really family friendly and the owner takes pride in the food. You can see him preparing it and greeting you. Delish! Big fan of the gyro plate--really tasty gyro meat and good-sized portions. The plates are always enough for two meals. Kafta kebabs are also fantastic--my husband's favorite. Can't get enough of their tahini sauce either. I recommend just calling to place an order rather than using an ordering website--one time they didn't see my online order and I had to wait for them to put it together, but calling has never been an issue. Fast too--usually just 10 minutes for a pick-up order to be ready. read more

Found this place through Yelp on a trip to LA. Service was fantastic. I didn't catch his name, but the person that took our order was very friendly and helpful to my mom (who had never had Mediterranean food). We order the salmon plate, a chicken shawarma plate, lentil soup, and the Greek fries. Everything was fantastic. Portions were perfect for us. Not too little, not too much. Really a great find. 10/10 would recommend. As a side note for Covid, they do allow dine in. read more

Z Falafel is my go to for lunch since I live in the same area. I love their falafel platter and grape leaves. The falafels are crispy, the hummus is awesome and it comes with a side salad, rice and steamed soft pita, which is a perfect mix. The staff is super friendly. They're quick every time and the food is consistently fresh and delicious. I'm so happy this place is so close to me. I love supporting small businesses like this. Wasn't expecting a place to be open that sells both vegan and non vegan food, so was able to buy food for me and my family at the same place. Ended up ordering a specialty bowl that wasn't on the menu but the owner there was so nice enough to make it for me. It was a bowl of hummus with sliced cucumbers layered on top with sumac spice topped off with falafels and cherry tomatoes all nicely layered on a to go bowl. It was soooooo deliciously good. All ingredients complemented each other so well. Definitely going there again. read more

What a stunning hidden spot :). I was just running errands in LA (originally living in Orange County). I left my car on a parking lot behind Z Falafel and went to do my things. Upon return I've noticed I still have some time before parking closes so I thought why not to grab some food before I seat in a crazy traffic to OC :p. Z Falafel is a walkable distance from that parking spot. Upon entering, friendly gentleman greeted me and answered all my questions. And I had MANY. When I eat in a new place, especially when there is a lot of items on the menu, I want to know whet, when, where lol ;). I opted in for a plate. He let me design it the way a wanted, chicken breast and some beef/lamb mixed meat with fries, hummus and salads. I usually don't eat in a random places I see around the block neither that type of food as I follow mostly meat free diet but this dish... I mean... it was delicious! Perfectly spiced, juicy, not overcooked, not overly salty, salads tasted refreshing and fresh, fries were crispy outside and soft inside (no idea how they do that lol). Overall I was very pleased with a dish. For not even $20 it was so much food I had it today for lunch and will eat the rest for dinner :). Place looked clean and inviting. Good find! read more

Definitely recommend! I came to pick up food for an outdoor dinner with friends and Z Falafel was a perfect idea and the ideal size for a get together. The owner prepared the food beautifully and was super nice. Everyone loved the food and couldn't stop talking about how they can't wait to go get their food again. You must get the beef kabob, chicken shawarma and their falafels are so good! Oh and don't forget the rice, hummus and salad made the whole meal! this place is definitely a must!! I got the veggie combo plate because I was trying to be healthy today but I was regretting it because the meat looked absolutely delicious. nonetheless, the veggie combo plate was amazing with a generous amount of falafel and oh my god I can't stress how amazing the hummus was. the hummus was rich and creamy and I couldn't stop eating it even after I was full! overall this place radiates great energy because the owners are super nice and the food is authentic and mouthwatering read more

The employee was super nice and got our food in record time- considering he was the only one there. It was a fairly small place, and my group of friends didn't feel uncomfortable at all. I could see the joint being popular in rush hour time. I ordered a Falafel sandwich since I was vegetarian, and it held up the standard of Mediterranean food. Small spot, but food is good! Good for small groups. The customer service was ok, I really can't complain about that. There isn't a public restroom though and being pregnant that kind of is a big deal lol. The side salad in my combo was really fresh and the food tasted like it was actually made to order. It also came out pretty quick. There isn't any fountain drinks just canned and bottled si no refills. I'd still recommend this place though if you're in the area. read more

On the positive side, the portion sizes are very generous for the price point, and I left feeling full. I also have to mention that the patio is adorable and very "Instagrammable," so it's a great spot if you're looking for a photo-friendly environment. A quick note for future visitors: they are currently having issues with their card reader and are requesting cash or Zelle. The freshness of the cucumber and herbs cutting through the rich sauce balanced it out. The pan fried pork buns however were rather forgettable. The meat was juicy but I was left wanting more flavour in both the meat and the buns. I also wish the bottoms were a bit crispier. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back to try their breakfast menu and other items though. Because peeking at the other tables they offerings looked delicious.

I drive up to LA every so often from Mexico for business. I stopped by this place to eat last week to have a quick bite before my long drive home. I got my chicken shawarma and ate it rather quickly so I could get back on the road and get going. The food tasted alright but after about three hours into my drive, I started having little stomach cramps. About an hour after my first cramp I was doubled over in pain and had to pull over. I had extreme and intense stomach cramps and could no longer finish my drive home. I had to stay at a Motel that night where I began vomiting and spent the entire night doubled over in pain. The food at this place put me down for the count for an entire day. I hadn't had anything else to eat all day, so I know it was from this restaurant. Guys, please check what you are serving people and verify everyone is washing their hands. I am very healthy, but I can hardly imagine what might have happened if someone not as healthy as me was to have the same experience. My family were visiting from out of town on our first night in our VRBO house. We got in kinda late after a long drive and wanted something healthy and fast. We ordered food from Zfalafel via Postmates. When the food arrived it was cold and very disappointing. You would expect Mediterranean food to be fresh, flavorful, and relatively light. Our hummus seemed really bland and we didn't like the texture of it. The chicken we got in our pitas was a little slimy and smelled off. Not taking any chances getting sick on our first night of vacation, we didn't eat it. Getting any satisfaction out of postmates when there is a problem is a nightmare, so we wrote it off. I got the food home and we were really upset because the food was not packaged well. The bags of food looked like a disaster and most of the meals were mixed together. Very short and impatient taking the orders from my kids, and they didn't seem to like answering their questions about the menu. To begin, there a multiple homeless people sitting right out front asking for change and being very rude when I declined. I know this is not the businesses fault, but since it is something a person coming here may encounter I thought it worth mentioning. I ordered a shawarma and a hummus plate and I was not all that impressed with the freshness of the food. The lettuce was limp and sorta old and the pita was very chewy, like it had been reheated more than once. The hummus was really flavorless and oily, I did not finish eating it. If you are in the mood for really good Mediterranean food you have to visit Z Falafel. I picked up take out and they brought out three big platters! The owner and staff were super nice and helped carry it out to my car. The presentation was amazing and the food was exactly what I was craving! The portions were enough to have it for lunch the next day which was another win-win! Everything we had was filled with so much flavor and still warm by the time I got home. I had their rice, chicken shawarma, beef kafta, gyro, fries, hummus, greek salad, pickled onions, and their falafels! Great for a big group or just a quick lunch spot. The meditteranean diet was always one I appreciated for its health consciousness. So when I find a good meditteranean spot I consider it a personal win. This place checked all the boxes. The prices were great coupled with a really good portion size which is a rare combo these days. The service was excellent, and most importantly, the food was absolutely delicious. The falafels were uber crispy and flavorful, just what I was looking for. The gyro was jam packed with all kinds of flavor from tender meats to fresh vegetables. DELICIOUS AND OUTSIDE DINING IS PERF! I haven't had Mediterranean food in a while and since I was running errands around the area I decided to stop by. I saw photos of the combo platter so I ordered one and my food was spread out on this beautiful serving board! I loved the whole vibe and felt aesthetically pleasing especially for photos. Eating outside was nice too as it was a fresh clear day. The meats were so juicy and hot, the rice was moist every bite and all the veggies were on point. Their white sauce was bomb as well! I came to Z Falafel excited to try their Combo Grill Plate which looks so good from the pictures I saw on Instagram and boy did it not disappoint! The combo grill plate comes with a side salad, hummus, chicken, rice and my favorite, Kofta! The Kofta was so soft, juicy and flavorful. When you combine the Kofta with their hummus and pita bread, I kid you not, it's like holding heaven at the tip of your fingers. This place is my favorite on the go mediterranean spot. Everything here is delicious, and extremely affordable. The meat is well cooked, to mid point, and the falafels are extraordinary. You can really tell they have a traditional recipe. Lastly, the customer service has always been great to me. While we've all had good falafels, the unique take on falafels that Sultan Chicken makes are particularly flavorful and fresh, and consistent for each time I've had them, in either wrap, plate, or side. It normally come with fresh veggies and pickles (lift and spicy peppers)--I'm a huge fan of lift (turnip pickles), and they don't disappoint in freshness and crispiness. Their toum is delicious and enhances everything you spread it on. I've also enjoyed the rib eye steak kabob--which is excellent, tender and juicy as if it was right out of a high-end steak house. The hummus is great, but I'm a huge fan of their mutabal--the eggplant dip--and its smoky goodness. The beverage selection is great. Not on the menu, but readily available is za'atar on flatbread (man'oushe), which you can get just crisped up or made into a sandwich with veggies. I love za'atar, and I love Sultan Chicken's za'atar sandwich, so much that I order it in addition to whatever meal I ordered. Don't judge until you try it. The staff is wonderful. It feels good to be recognized as a repeat customer when I come in--as if you are visiting family. The service is great; food is delivered fast with friendly demeanor--and any question or request is met with gratitude and respect. The prices are reasonable and even though I don't have a lot of means to spend, I can feel confident that I can order a lot of food without breaking the bank.
