Really enjoyed a lighter lunch during our visit to DTLA, with the food tasting very good for both my wife and me. Killer Kabab (fast food mediterranean) has two locations, with the other being in the Sawtelle area near West LA. There are multiple Kabab shops near the hotel that we were staying, so chose the closest one. It wasn't too busy inside, with plenty of seating so placed our order and paid through the kiosk. The food took a bit of time to come out, delivered to our table. No soda fountain, so got a can of soda ($1.99) which you pick up yourself from the nearby bev fridge. We shared a Mix Grill plate ($21.95), consisting of a variety of things, all of which we enjoyed. The bed of tumeric rice was well cooked. The beef fillet, chicken breast chunks, and the beef kofta were all excellent: very tender, well seasoned, and well grilled. A few grilled vegetables were added, along with a really good plain hummus and pita braed. It also came with two side dips/pastes: a really good garlic paste that went great with the grilled beef and a yellow 'buttery' sauce that was great with the chicken. It also came with a small side salad, and some really tart pepperoncini. All of this added to a good light(er) meal, mixing various tastes and textures really well.

We were parked on Figueroa Street and decided to save some money by walking to this restaurant. The food was so good and filling, with me having some delicious Hummus and Pita Bread while my friend had kabobs. Service seemed slow, but the food was fresh, so well worth the wait. Nothing to write home about the area or the atmosphere, as this is more an eat and run type of restaurant, with many workers only getting a half hour lunch. Next time, I would call ahead and just pick it up...

BEWARE MISLEADING PICTURES! Ordered a sandwich/wrap pictured with lettuce, tomato, and more... got just a kabob wrapped in thin dough. So misleading I got a refund from Uber.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place! It's a small fast food kind of establishment. Food was solid and service was very fast. We ordered the chicken kabob plate and the beef shawarma wrap, both of which were quite good. I wish the beef shawarma was a little softer but otherwise it was good. There is a limited time offer for BOGO wraps but we sadly didn't see it until after we had ordered.

Food is just ok. It used to be better. Today it seemed somewhat dry. The shawarma plate includes a generous portion. I do not recommend the shawarma fries. The service is ok and the ambiance is very casual. There is a kiosk tablet to order on your own.

The last time I visited this location was about 3+ years ago and it was called Z falafel. I see that it's still Mediterranean food but now it's (rebranded???) to killer kabab and it looks like z falafel moved to another location. Both their websites look the same. Sad to say but quality is not the same and the portions were like half of what I remembered from my last visit. Flavor of the meat was super light, did not really taste much seasoning. I don't see myself coming back. The place was clean and the service was quick.

We chose this place because dude it was walking distance from our other event so we wouldn't have to re-park. It was clean and bright. The staff were friendly. You order on a tap screen which is easy enough and they bring bout the good. I requested water which they provided but they had no ice. The shawerma fries were ok though the fries were not crisp, the salmon plate was ok though the rice tasted bland, the chicken kabab wrap was ok though the pickles in it had a strange texture. The best items we tried were the grape leaves and the garlic sauce that accompanied the food. The food was satisfying though not the best Mediterranean food I've had.

Came here because the reviews were really good, and I left disappointed and underwhelmed. I ordered the chicken shawarma wrap. The photos made it look extremely appealing, however what I received was not anything like what was advertised. The Chicken Shawarma is supposed to have fries in it and there was literally only two fries in my wrap, the chicken was dry, the wrap was dry, there was hardly any sauce on it, and the flavor was extremely underwhelming. The lady that assisted me with ordering also prepared the meal and the customer service was equivalent to what I was served.

Had the pleasure of visiting @zfalafel8 during my work lunch hour for their delicious Chicken Shawarma and Chicken Kabob ! It was served with pita, hummus, rice, pickled veggies, and falafel on this aesthetic square plate! Just take a look at these platings!! They have two locations in Downtown LA so if you're nearby make sure to visit your closest location. My coworker Alexis and I are huge fans of Mediterranean food so we devoured our meals! I had to order for work and decided to try this place. I like trying places which can be a risk sometimes. So we got our order in and was told it will be an hour wait. So we left work to drive here and pick up our order. It was ready when we got there. The owner was very nice. And as much as I want to give this place a 4 or 5 star, I had to give them 3 stars only. Why? Because all of our order was dry and overcooked. We ordered a few salmon plate and chicken kabob plates and ALL of them were overcooked. It was marinated well though. I felt bad for everyone who complained about their food. The serving was okay. I wouldn't say it was a lot or a little. I dont think we will be ordering from here again. read more

Ordered takeout so can't comment on interior or service. Takeout was nicely packaged. I ordered chicken satay (yummy) and chicken gyro (okay), along with sides of falafel. I was really excited since falafel is literally in their name but it was incredibly mediocre. Falafel had barely any flavor and wasn't super savory. Would definitely not get again. The chicken satay was very good and the pita that it came with was yummy. Hummus had very little flavor. Overall disappointing, especially at this price point. read more

A SPOT THAT HAS BEEN PRAISED BY THE MEDITERRANEAN GODS!!! z falafel is THE BEST MEDITERRANEAN FOOD in state, country, world, and universe. my taste buds are literally dancing from all of the amazingly delicious food they serve oh-so-beautifully. the presentation is so impressively intricate and gorgeously handcrafted that you don't want to eat it at first, but after the first bite your only instinct is to destroy the platter!!! i am still in awe of how pretty the food is and even more so how good it tastes. every bite is exceptional, and everything together creates an unimaginable and out-of-this-world creation that only the Mediterranean gods could have crafted. that is the owner, tony, his platters of incredible food lead me to believe he is a mediterranean god himself.. how could food be that insanely magical?? everything in this restaurant is house-made, authentic, and made with love. the falafel is perfectly crispy and tasty as you could ever imagine. the fries - i have never experienced a plate of more crispy and seasoned fries in my life, and i eat a lot of french fries!! there is something about these fries though, maybe the crispy golden color or the way they hand toss the fries with an extremely flavorful kick of seasoning, but z falafel has nailed their fry game!! the homemade pita bread may be my favorite - so soft and fluffy like a cloud of delicious fluffy bread!! this pita bread crafted with the tasty chicken shawarma, juicy chicken kebabs, and tender gyro meats - a match made in heaven. even the salad was delicious, and i am so not a salad girl, but this was actually amazing!! the greek dressing is ridiculously addicting with the fresh cut lettuce and greens, i don't even understand how they can keep them so refreshingly crisp!!! all the veggies on the platter are flavorful, whole, and deliciously topped, while the pickled cabbage was finger-licking delicious!! so sweet and mouth-watering, the perfect addition to any bite of food on the platter. i would literally die for this mediterranean food. this spot is 1000% my new favorite, and definitely the go-to place for my mediterranean fix. you have not lived until you've tried everything on the menu from z falafel, not only is this food the most amazingly delicious, fresh, authentic, and tasty meal you will ever have, but the service is incredible and the people here are just the best!! tony, huge props to you for creating this wonderful, five-star taste experience, you should be proud of how happy your food makes people!! :) read more

I found this place through a friend and was incredibly impressed with the food. Having tried many Mediterranean spots on the west side and in the SGV that were too salty or heavy, I found Z Falafel to satisfy my craving without those negatives. The salad was very fresh, meat perfectly seasoned, and portions just right. The food was also presented on nice wood boards, great for sharing or for pictures. Additionally, the owner Tony and the staff were super sweet and helpful. Definitely a new go-to for me! read more

Yeah I don't usually do reviews but god this has got to be one of the best spots of LA. This deserves all the love and praise - the owner is an incredible guy. Absolutely incredibly food - I love the flavors in the veggie and meat plate. Also the hummus is by-far one of the best I've ever tasted. Rich, creamy, and a perfect compliment to whatever choice or protein you get. So fresh & delicious! Mediterranean cuisine is some of my favorite food, and Z Falafel gets it right. The service here is always good and food is always fresh & affordable! Everything here is made from scratch, from the hummus to the falafel, and it is all DELICIOUS. The pita bread is so fluffy & the rice is so flavorful! I've tried their hummus, baba ghanouj, chicken kebab, chicken shawarma, beef gyro, and Greek salad. You pretty much can't go wrong. If you want a little bit of everything like I do, you should definitely go for the combo plate! Not only is the food amazing, the presentation is spot on! Just taking the time here to appreciate good food. Must try the kafta plate! Kafta kabab is to die for!! Also try the chicken shawarma the texture is crispy outside and tender on the inside. The thing about mediterranean food is the perfectly balanced bites achieved with the sides like sumac onions with hummus. Def coming back here next time im in dtla. read more

This spot is great, easy to find and close by many different hotels here in LA. Perfect for a filling meal after a busy day. Food is affordable with tons of different meat options. Absolutely delicious! I was just walking through downtown LA looking for something to eat when I stumbled upon this place. I walked in and ordered a falafel sandwich on pita bread. While the wait was a little long, as they seemed to be pretty busy that day, the food was well worth the wait. The falafels in the sandwich tasted delicious and were the perfect consistency--not too crunchy, but not mushy and soft. I think the best thing about the sandwich was the hummus spread that was slathered on top of the falafels. It really brought the whole sandwich together. And, while I didn't realize the meal came with fries, the fries were also delicious and the perfect addition to the sandwich. Overall, it was the perfect little lunch to have on a weekday afternoon and I hope to come back here very soon. read more

We ordered takeout from Zfalafel last night and I could not wait to leave a review! This place is one of the best Med restaurants in LA, so many traditional dishes like shawarma, gyro, falafel, and lemon chicken. I am not a fan of falafel but my mom loves it and she said it was really good. I am a meat lover so stuck to ALL the meat I could eat, which is a lot! Great prices too so I will be back again for a tother takeout. This place was recommended to me by a friend who understand my love of greek food. I bought a greek salad and a lemon chicken plate for dinner and it all tasted yummy. I have been to Greece and the food I tasted from Zfalafel hit just the right spot. I will be sure to be visiting again to check out the rest of the menu, the falafel looked and smelt gooood. Make sure you visit if you live near this part of LA. read more

Excellent!! We got to try their Combo Grill Plate, which is a combination of beef and lamb gyro, chicken kebab and falafel. Served with rice, hummus, salad, fries, and pita breadEverything on the plate had their own distinct flavor, but fused together very nicelyPortions were HUGE, so it's definitely worth every dollar. It was Lo's first time trying Falafel's and he loved it!! They were fresh and crispy with excellent spicesParking is a little difficult to find, but if you go to the Ralphs across the street and buy anything, you can get your parking ticket validated!! The service was excellent! Tony, the owner, was super friendly and helpful like the rest of staff. I was looking forward to eating here based on other reviews. Unfortunately, the food was below average. I got the grill combo with kafta, gyro meat and chicken. The kafta was under seasoned, had no middle eastern spices that I could taste and basically tasted like an overcooked hamburger patty. The chicken was inedible. It was so dry that I couldn't eat more than half a piece. Don't have to worry about undercooked chicken here. The gyro meat was about the same as you get at any gyro place and it's probably not made in house but purchased from a place like Sysco Foods. Staff is friendly enough for a second star. Don't come here. read more

First time visiting here-had the combo grill plate with buttery tender meat-didn't need a knife at all!! It was so good and filling. Owner is awesome and kind. Order turn around time is good. Definitely a downtown spot to check out when you get the craving. read more

Since I work in DTLA, I'm always on the hunt for new lunch spots - and I think I found a new favorite! Made fresh to order with super quality ingredients, z falafel was the perfect pick-me-up for the week. Also, the owner and staff were all so hospitable ~ friendly service is always such a cherry on top! I recommend the combo grill plate which was a Mediterranean delight with beef, lamb gyro & chicken kabob! All so juicy and the rice was one of the most flavorful and tasty that I ever had. The portions were HUGE too. I also got a side of falafel that my goodness.. they were so crispy and delicious! Highly recommend this spot for your next Mediterranean cravings! read more

My wife and I visited this place a few weeks ago and the service and food were amazing. I have eaten a lot of Mediterranean food in LA and Zfalafel is up there with the best. I got the shawarma plate as it is a favorite of mine and it was packed full of flavor--very authentic. My wife got the gyro which was also very good and we shared a plate of falafel. You could tell all of this food was made of quality ingredients. Great prices too, we will definitely be back as soon as we can. I love this place. Their kafta is amazing! You can tell that they use high-quality meat and the level of spicing is just right. You can get it in a bowl or on a plate with a lovely rice and salad, which is usually my choice. To be honest everything that I have had on the menu is great. I live nearby so it is my regular weekend lunch place. They do sandwiches and wraps which are great for takeout. I love this place. Their kafta is amazing! You can tell that they use high-quality meat and the level of spicing is just right. You can get it in a bowl or on a plate with a lovely rice and salad, which is usually my choice. To be honest everything that I have had on the menu is great. I live nearby so it is my regular weekend lunch place. They do sandwiches and wraps which are great for takeout. If you are not into meat, the falafel is awesome. A good place to eat in for a relaxed dinner with friends too. The team that runs the place are really nice and very welcoming. A genuine restaurant with genuine people. Full stars from me and highly recommended. Zfalafel is great and in the perfection location. Easy to grab a takeout. The restaurant floor is clean and well organized with easy access to the menu. On my last visit I got the lemon chicken plate which tasted really good. Perfectly seasoned and just the right amount of lemon zing, when I have tried to make it in the last it is always a bit too in your face, if you get me. The breast of the chicken was tender and you could tell it was good quality. You get a lovely fresh salad, soft garlic infused hummus and delicious fries with all of the plate dishes on the menu which makes for a very yummy, and very filling meal. The customer service is always the best that it can be and the staff really make the difference. High recdmmmded if you are in the area and want great Mediterranean food. Zfalafel is the best Mediterranean food in downtown LA! My first visit here! Tony was super kind and helpful. I ordered their gyro plate which comes with pita bread, rice, hummus, salad. The gyro flavorful and tender! We also got the crispy falafel which was a great little appetizer. This place is located in the heart of DTLA and is soo good!! I ordered the Chicken Shawarma Wrap and it was to die for we also ordered the Lemon Chicken Plate and an extra order of french fries w/ feta cheese + olive oil.... TOO GOOD! I'm definitely looking forward to coming back to try their breakfast menu and other items though. Because peeking at the other tables they offerings looked delicious.

On my last visit I got the lemon chicken plate which tasted really good. Perfectly seasoned and just the right amount of lemon zing, when I have tried to make it in the last it is always a bit too in your face, if you get me. The breast of the chicken was tender and you could tell it was good quality. You get a lovely fresh salad, soft garlic infused hummus and delicious fries with all of the plate dishes on the menu which makes for a very yummy, and very filling meal. I drive up to LA every so often from Mexico for business. I stopped by this place to eat last week to have a quick bite before my long drive home. I got my chicken shawarma and ate it rather quickly so I could get back on the road and get going. The food tasted alright but after about three hours into my drive, I started having little stomach cramps. About an hour after my first cramp I was doubled over in pain and had to pull over. I had extreme and intense stomach cramps and could no longer finish my drive home. I had to stay at a Motel that night where I began vomiting and spent the entire night doubled over in pain. We hired Zfalafel for our wedding catering and found it to be very reliable and professional. The service leading up to the wedding was good, very well organized and friendly to work with. We discussed our budget and the type of food we would like then the manager worked with us to design the most delicious menu for our wedding day. We catered for 100 guests in total and each and every one of us enjoyed our meal. There was lots of variety and the food shone. We got lots of good feedback about how different our food was to standard wedding catering and how delicious it all was. The falafel got particular praise, as it should have because it was beautiful. Thank you for looking after my husband and I, the food was exactly what we wanted. Love this place. They are managing COVID and social distancing well. My hubby always wants to order from here when we get takeout as he loves the beef shawarma and Greek fries. I cannot tell you how amazing the gyro is from this place. Just writing about it makes my tummy rumble! My friends and I got a takeout and ate them at the park yesterday and it was just the perfect afternoon! If I closed my eyes I could have been at a taverna on the beach in Greece! It is not the type of food you can eat all of the time but a lovely treat. Full of delicately sliced meat and soft fluffy bread, this could be the best gyros in LA! Yes, I love it that much! When I am feeling slightly healthier I go for the falafel and salad which is also very good, as is the salmon plate for the super-healthy days. I can't say enough good things about this place! Every time I visit, I leave with a happy heart and a full belly. Their chicken Schwarma gyros are absolutely delicious. The chicken is perfectly seasoned, juicy, and wrapped in the softest burrito with the right amount of Hummus. It's honestly the best I've ever had! And don't even get me started on their salads. My family were visiting from out of town on our first night in our VRBO house. We got in kinda late after a long drive and wanted something healthy and fast. We ordered food from Zfalafel via Postmates. When the food arrived it was cold and very disappointing. You would expect Mediterranean food to be fresh, flavorful, and relatively light. Our hummus seemed really bland and we didn't like the texture of it. The chicken we got in our pitas was a little slimy and smelled off. Not taking any chances getting sick on our first night of vacation, we didn't eat it. Getting any satisfaction out of postmates when there is a problem is a nightmare, so we wrote it off. Stopped in to get a quick dinner for myself and family after a long days work to give my wife a break from cooking for our family of six. I got the food home and we were really upset because the food was not packaged well. The bags of food looked like a disaster and most of the meals were mixed together. The quality of the food was not that great either, the chicken and beef were really dry and seemed old. They kids did not like it nor did they want to eat their meals, so my wife had to cook for us anyway. So much for giving her a break. Stopped in for a bite while my family and I were vacationing from the UK after a day long visit to Universal Studios. After spending the day walking and enjoying the attractions, we were famished. Living in the UK, there are some really great Mediterranean restaurants as we have a wonderful diverse population. The staff at this place is very unwelcoming and unfriendly. Very short and impatient taking the orders from my kids, and they didn't seem to like answering their questions about the menu. I got the impression they just wanted us to order, pay, sit down, and leave with making a minimum amount of effort. To begin, there a multiple homeless people sitting right out front asking for change and being very rude when I declined. I know this is not the businesses fault, but since it is something a person coming here may encounter I thought it worth mentioning. I ordered a shawarma and a hummus plate and I was not all that impressed with the freshness of the food. If you are in the mood for really good Mediterranean food you have to visit Z Falafel. I picked up take out and they brought out three big platters! The owner and staff were super nice and helped carry it out to my car. The presentation was amazing and the food was exactly what I was craving! The portions were enough to have it for lunch the next day which was another win-win! Everything we had was filled with so much flavor and still warm by the time I got home. The meditteranean diet was always one I appreciated for its health consciousness. So when I find a good meditteranean spot I consider it a personal win. This place checked all the boxes. The prices were great coupled with a really good portion size which is a rare combo these days. The service was excellent, and most importantly, the food was absolutely delicious. The falafels were uber crispy and flavorful, just what I was looking for. The gyro was jam packed with all kinds of flavor from tender meats to fresh vegetables. DELICIOUS AND OUTSIDE DINING IS PERF! I haven't had Mediterranean food in a while and since I was running errands around the area I decided to stop by. I saw photos of the combo platter so I ordered one and my food was spread out on this beautiful serving board! I loved the whole vibe and felt aesthetically pleasing especially for photos. I came to Z Falafel excited to try their Combo Grill Plate which looks so good from the pictures I saw on Instagram and boy did it not disappoint! The combo grill plate comes with a side salad, hummus, chicken, rice and my favorite, Kofta! The Kofta was so soft, juicy and flavorful. When you combine the Kofta with their hummus and pita bread, I kid you not, it's like holding heaven at the tip of your fingers. This place is my favorite on the go mediterranean spot. Everything here is delicious, and extremely affordable. The meat is well cooked, to mid point, and the falafels are extraordinary. While we've all had good falafels, the unique take on falafels that Sultan Chicken makes are particularly flavorful and fresh, and consistent for each time I've had them, in either wrap, plate, or side. The hummus is great, but I'm a huge fan of their mutabal--the eggplant dip--and its smoky goodness. The beverage selection is great. Not on the menu, but readily available is za'atar on flatbread (man'oushe), which you can get just crisped up or made into a sandwich with veggies. I love za'atar, and I love Sultan Chicken's za'atar sandwich, so much that I order it in addition to whatever meal I ordered. Don't judge until you try it. The staff is wonderful. It feels good to be recognized as a repeat customer when I come in--as if you are visiting family. The service is great; food is delivered fast with friendly demeanor--and any question or request is met with gratitude and respect.
