The restaurant ambiance is very simple and nothing fancy, but it is spacious and comfortable. When we first arrived it was not very busy, but by the time we left it had filled up. We also noticed lots of pickup orders, which says a lot about its popularity. The food was good overall, with several dishes that stood out. For appetizers we ordered the potstickers, which were just okay and not very memorable. The calamari was unique and came in a rectangular shape, almost like mozzarella sticks. I had never seen calamari served that way before, but they were actually good. The fried chicken wings were a highlight, hot, crispy, and very enjoyable. The ranch was delicious and tasted homemade with herbs. For our main dishes the beef bulgogi came out on a sizzling plate and was very flavorful. The chicken katsu was nicely crispy with good seasoning, and the short ribs were also served sizzling with a yummy, almost teriyaki style sauce that we really enjoyed. The orange chicken with rice was good, though fairly standard. One dish that pleasantly surprised me was the japchae. It was my first time trying it and I loved the glass noodles and how fresh the vegetables tasted. Overall KC's Kitchen offers solid, comforting food with several standout dishes. While not everything was a wow, we left satisfied and would definitely come back if we are in Fairbanks again.

Highly recommend! Fiancé and I got their sweet glazed chicken I believe, and the dumpling ramen with beef. Their Thai iced tea is also soooooo delicious!! Waitress warned me that it would take a while and I could either take a seat or wait in my car (it's a rental and I'm from SoCal during October early snow weather). So I chose the former. I only really looked at the front portion of the restaurant. Didn't seem too busy but one of the higher rated KFC spots and that was my craving. Plus, I went ahead and ordered for to-go since I wasn't too hungry and was more in preparation for the season's first snowstorm. Seemed like any other small restaurant layout with booth seating on the outskirts. Fried chicken smelled good once I walked in. Now the food itself: I appreciate how it wasn't overly sauced so the crisp wasn't completely gone by the time I took a quick bite for the night. I'm sure it would've been better straight out of the fryer. All pieces were still juicy. So overall very much up to par. Just not top tier. Before I got out of my car, a Transient came up to my car door to ask for something. As a solo traveler, I respectfully shook my head at him. He went into the shop next door. As this is in their downtown area, not surprising to have such an interaction. Unfortunately that lowers their rating though.

We loved ever dish we got and the iced Thai tea was probably the best one I've ever had. The owner is also amazing and very sweet. We had so much fun talking to him! Because we were the first few in the door, our entrees arrived sooner than others who came after. I was disappointed with the Thai iced tea, it lacked tea flavor and was more of condensed, excessively sweetened milk drink. I could only finish 1/2 and poured out the rest . We ordered 3 dishes and the portions were generous such that we had leftovers the next day. 1. Veggie Tom Yum Soup - was OK but I've had others with better flavor and wouldn't order this again. 2. Chicken pad Thai was the best dish of the bunch but it was very skinny rice noodles. It tasted better as next day leftovers after the flavors marinated overnight. 3. Pork green curry was watery and not green but looked more yellow. We had yellow curry at a Thai restaurant days earlier and thought that curry tasted more authentic and wasn't watery. Overall nice staff with average food.

The seating area is cozy and close-quarters, but you're greeted at your table with attentive service and complimentary miso soup. The miso is decent, red or mixed miso with some tofu, but lacks that miso flavor you crave on a cold day. I ordered the paradise roll, substitute tuna for spicy tuna. The food arrived and presentation was nice. Seemed to have a heavy layer of teriyaki and spicy mayo drizzle with spattering of roe (fish eggs) over the crabmeat smothering the roll. The sushi has a nice deep fried crusting, and sushi rice is fully cooked. Better proportion of sashimi to sushi content, as opposed to kanpai sushi. The portion is large enough to fill most, and the average sushi date should choose this paradise roll if they were to share and have something else. However, if you are to substitute options within your order, the price for your sushi may not accurately reflect from the menu priced items. While the service is busy and attentive, I was never provided a refill of my water, ginger, or wasabi to accompany my food. I believe the largest specialty roll on the menu is aggressively priced, nicely prepared, and the sushi is moderately decent with a communal environment. Overall: 4/5, price for quantity 2/5, food quality 3/5, ambiance 4/5, and service 3/5.
