We went here a few days ago for the first time and we really enjoyed it. All the food was fresh and hot. The steak and shrimp from the Mongolian grill was delicious. The ribs were really good, so was the sushi and everything else we tried. The only thing we weren't impressed with was the dessert selection... the soft serve ice cream was low quality and the rest of the dessert didn't look that great. Although I'm not a big buffet person, I stopped by for a cheap, fulfilling meal including a variety of options such as seafood, sushi, various "Chinese" dishes, salads, and more. The food is good -- for a buffet, I'm truly Impressed by how delicious most of their dishes are. You have a decent salad bar with many toppings, a dessert selection, got your Asian foods, sushi, fried foods, soups, and even seafood and Mongolian. There is A LOT of seating so don't worry about not getting a seat or wait time because you most likely will. I have been here many times at different times of day and week and never had to wait. The quality of food obviously won't be the greatest since it IS a buffet. They don't specialize in anything but cook and plate out whatever they can in a fast and efficient manner to accommodate all their guests. I have gotten many foods that were too salty, too bland, or even cold which is ironic since they are placed in a warmer bath for the hot foods. Went to King Buffet with a couple of guys I was working with and thought it was just ok. The one guy recommended it because it was reasonably priced and had something for everyone, but it was just ok. We ordered party trays for our team meeting. OMG!!! They are the BEST!!!!! Orange chicken was delicious and everyone absolutely loved it! We also ordered Lo Mein, cheese wontons and spring rolls! We loved everything. The price was way cheap compared to other places. We called several other restaurants in town, their price was the lowest. BUT they gave us way too much food for what we paid! We ordered the big party tray of orange chick and it was HUGE! We were able to go several rounds. Definitely worth a try. Literally the best buffet and to go place for team meetings and gathering. They lost a customer. The food quality has really gone down. It was extremely disappointing how old the food tastes. Everything that was once good about this restaurant is no longer. Once they had chocolate fountains, ice cream of different flavors, they served good crab, and it was truly a king buffet. Now it's nothing special. It feels as if I wasted money. But they will continue to serve low quality food to obese people who don't know better. The only thing that is good about this place was our server who was attentive and amazing. I left a bad review the last time and was contacted by someone who asked for a second chance. I have learned not to give restaurants that are low quality a second chance. Being Viet, I put Sriracha sauce on everything (even my ice cream j/k), so the fact that they have a bottle on every table scores this place a solid 4stars in my book. Being Southern Californians choosing to eat Chinese in Utah, we were prepared for the worst. So it was a pleasant surprise to see the spread: such abundant variety of food that we're used to seeing and expecting (see pics). Clean Mongolian BBQ Area, well tended. Somewhat limited selection of Sushi but they made up for that in the myriad of other hot food selection and desserts. Good job King Buffet! Keep it up! Ps. Yum! That is how I'm going to start this! I've been wanting to try this place for a couple of years now and it has never worked out. Either we come and the line is out the door or whoever I'm with isn't in the mood for Chinese. But today I finally got to go. My family was apprehensive because buffets don't always end up being good. But wow were we surprised! Holy cow they have a lot of choices! From sushi, to a Mongolian grill, to tons of Chinese choices and American choices. And regular salad bar with fresh fruit, and a big dessert section complete with a chocolate fountain. And honestly, only about 2 things that we tried, we didn't love. And we tried a lot of stuff!!! It's a King Buffet. You should know what you're getting there, it's all about quantity over quality. Lots of selection for fried food, but in my opinion most of it ends up tasting the same. The food isn't anything special, but it rarely is in a buffet like this. The buffet area isn't very clean, but it's what you'd expect. Only area I think was far too messy was the ice cream machine, that thing looks like it's been touched by every little kid in the Salt Lake Valley. There were some weird smells coming from the kitchen, so I avoided that area too. Tons of endless food with all the staples of a Chinese buffet. The General Tso's chicken was my favorite dish there. The BBQ chicken kebab also exceeded my expectations. I'm giving them a low score not because of their food but because of one rude employee (a sushi maker) who needs to be properly trained on how to respect paying customers. This sushi maker wanted to act as an owner of this place. As I was putting my sushi on my plate he rudely approached me and forbid me to fill my plate with what I want. He said, "Excuse me sir, one at a time only!". I was surprised by his actions. The last time I checked this is a buffet restaurant and customers should be free to fill up their plates with food that they want, as much as they want, as long as they can finish what is on their plate. I was surprisingly embarrassed by this rude employee whose task is to make sushi. I think he was just being lazy and tired of his job and for him to see customers quickly consuming what is on the sushi bar is a heavy toll on him. The fact of the matter is I didn't like to taste all the sushi because I am very picky with eating raw fish and it just happened that I saw this plate of sushi that I wanted to try. I have been to different buffet restaurants with sushi bars and this is the first time I was approached by a sushi maker reminding me of how much I can take to eat. So I have asked his name and told him that I am going to report him to his manager or supervisor. He said "he doesn't care" at all. I asked his name from his coworkers or asked for a manager or ssupervisor that I can talk to and I was told that there is normally NO manager or supervisor around at that time. No wonder this employee (just a sushi maker) can act or behave this way towards customers! These food preparers and servers are UNMANAGED and can basically do what they want towards PAYING customers! Just as my wife and I were about to leave, the cashier lady approached me and asked me how I am. I told her that I was disappointed at this place and would really want to talk to a manager. She called the manager on her cellphone and got a hold of him. She then handed the phone to me and I was able to talk to the manager. I can only hope that this manager would call a meeting with his staff and remind them to respect their customers AT ALL TIMES for without US, the paying custoners, this place would no longer be around. I went to this place last night and let me tell you that if you are planning ahead of time to come to this place have someone come earlier to take a number/get seats or try calling ahead. The wait to go in was like around 30-40 mins for us. A couple of things to note about this place is that parking is plentiful. If you have to wait a long time for your seating there are some stores for you to walk around (while someone is waiting for your number to be called of course) like ROSS and those stores. There is plenty of different variety of food for you to chose from. Now here is the note worthy food I would recommend that I tried. I love their wings it has enough flavoring to it. Their jalapeño squid is delicious. Next I would recommend their fried fish, but do be careful it does have bones in it and you might want se kind of dipping sauce. The meat is kind of bland. I used the sweet and sour sauce they had. Their sushi there was surprisingly good for a buffet and I love how they have a giant chocolate fountains. Now do remember this is a buffet so there will be plenty of messy people around. The chocolate fountain area is a place that is super messy. There are chocolate dipping all over the place. What can I say? It's a buffet. I try to avoid buffets because I feel like I need to get my money's worth, so I end up stuffing myself.. This place is worth it to me though! They have your average Chinese buffet stuff, but what makes this restaurant special to me is their selection of seafood. They have jonas crab legs, salt baked shrimp, regular chilled shrimp, salt baked calamari, fishes, crawfish, sushi (including nigiri), and a couple different kinds of clams. I went there on a weekday once, and they didn't have much seafood at all. I think it's a weekend thing. Every time I have that craving for seafood, this is the place I visit. I am also in love with the chinese donuts, lol. As far as the sushi goes though, it's not the greatest. It sits out on the bar and the deep fried ones aren't very warm most of the time. The nigiri is alright, but it tastes a little dry. It's not too fishy, so I always grab a couple. Be prepared though, it's always packed! The wait usually isn't too long, about 15 minutes is the max that I've waited on the busier days. They do a good job and keeping the troughs filled though. (ha ha) read more

The inside is smaller then I expected... service is ok. Waitress has to refill your drinks which is annoying when you need a refill asap. For any Asian buffet, I always go to the "make your own" Lo mein/noodles as I prefer fresh over anything that has been sitting in a pan for a while. We celebrated my friend's birthday here because he wanted to go eat buffet, but I don't think I would come back any time soon. ATMOSPHERE: It was very crowded and the tables were not socially distanced enough. If I leaned back in my chair, I could touch the person behind me. They require you to wear gloves on both hands and masks when you grab food but of course, you'll see that some people are so inconsiderate of others that they won't or they'll be rude to the staff who enforce it. FOOD: The hot foods, seafood, and the Mongolian grill are the usually go-to's for our group. I usually like sushi, but the sushi sits out for too long and the fish isn't fresh at all. The closest thing I got to fresh fish was the sake nigiri (salmon). They also didn't have the soft serve ice cream machine, which some people in our party were disappointed about, however we understand due to COVID. For several years my wife and I used to make this a weekly visit. With any restaurant, there are always pluses and minuses. The minuses seem to be growing. We go less and less often. Today, we both started at the Mongolian Grill. The "cooks" (2) were busy and separated all the meats from about 8-10 different meals, mixed them all, then mixed vegetables and pasta. In the end, my wife's meal was absorbed into the rest, my meal was meats, virtually all "steaks", which I did not select at all and none of the vegetables which I did I select. I could not eat the mixed mess made of my bowl. My wife went back to try again. I could not bring myself to try again, I felt so betrayed. At least four people behind us in line went back and try again, families with small children. I asked to speak to a Manager, one guy came and asked how he could help. He said he was not a Manager (I think the others selected him because he sort of spoke English). I finally spoke to a Manager when I refused to pay until I spoke to a Manager, but was told by two people calling themselves Managers, "Next time, make sure he doesn't mix your food, say something". Really? All ten of us? How about he does his job? What are we paying for? We used to enjoy this location, at least I did. My wife never really cared for it, I just dragged her there. A few more things: First, this is at least the third time the same thing has happened, although this was worse involving 8-10 people, not just 3-4. There seems to be no effort at all to improve and zero remorse. Second: I made my meal heavy with red pepper sauce and Jalapenos, none of which showed up in the plate of "steaks" I did not select. Somebody got heat they didn't select. I think it was the woman with all the little kids in front of us did, as he just mixed all four of her kids plates (she used plates) together with ours and some others. Sorry for the heat kids! Basic Chinese buffet. The only thing that seems cool is the Mongolian bbq. Other than that, it's pretty basic and nothing that stands out. The food is okay. Nothing that I crave or would be dying to come back here for. I can eat a million potstickers so I'm glad the ones here were good enough to continue on my lifelong dream of potsticker eating at Chinese buffets. Pepsi products are sold here. This place needs a decoration overhaul. It's definitely not the cleanest place I've eaten but I do see staff constantly wiping tables and serving areas down. I have been here quite a few times now. According to their price and quality as a buffet, this is definitely a recommended place. It is only about $14 (after tax) per adult for the dinner. If you want to be seated quicker or has fewer people, come during the weekdays. On Friday and Saturday night there are always so many people, and it could take a long time before seats are available. There are many options. What I like the most in this place is the Mongolian grill for you to build your own bowl with noodles, veggie and meat. They make it right in front of you. You can just put the plate down and come back later, because sometimes the line can be pretty long and it took a while before they finish making your plates. I like to just put meat steaks in the plates and ask them to make it medium rare. They are usually too busy and either forget my request or too slow to take the meat out, the meat is usually close to well done. But I am a meat eater and I still like it, a bit chewy but still juicy. The sushi bar is alright. The quality is not that good but not terrible, although they put a lot of rice compared to the fish. So I don't usually get the sushi. But the green seaweed salad has great texture and gives you a different taste compared to other salty food. On the other side, I like to get mussels (with the cheese one), chicken wings (not too much breading and the skin is crispy with meat being juicy), crayfish, ribs (usually good), fried squid, and cream cheese wonton. I also like the little octopus on the salad bar. For dessert, I like strawberries. You can dip them in the chocolate fountain but that's too sweet for me, just the strawberries are fresh too. There are also strawberry flavor cup ice cream, you just have to dig it in and find it. Servers take the plates for you and they are usually good at it, but they maybe a bit slower when there are many people. Again, no flavor, and those same crunchy mushrooms. 2nd pass I went for the Mongolian BBQ, and the selection of ingredients was OK...along with a large assortment of powders and sauces, but the finish was just not up to your normal dedicated Mongolian places (e.g., Hu Hot.) The flavor was off. And I've been to a number of Chinese Buffet's before...the best being one that used to be in East Peoria, IL...and others. But this place simply could not compare. I just wanted to write a review about this place to give people a heads up. The food in this place was terrible, unflavored and not fresh. Much of it tasted as if it had been reheated. This was not just my opinion, but the other person dining with me as well. To make it worse, at the Mongolian bar where you create your own bowl and it's cooked for you, the cook was on his telephone the whole time and burnt the order. I tried to ask him to take it off 3 times and he waived me off. The server was great and very attentive but I would not go back to this place again . This is the first time back since Covid but we had been regular customers before. The food is still tasty and the staff members are helpful. Downside: they now charge $2.50 for drinks so just drink water. The salad bar could use some extras but is okay overall. The puddings were good and everything appeared fresh. Aside from the extra beverage charge (the drinks should be free) and limited desserts, it's still a good deal. They do "require" masks and gloves but this is not reinforced.
