We arrived on a Sunday evening for dinner as it was the chosen spot for the birthday guest. We walked in and the place was packed wall to wall in the waiting room. We should have called ahead as they will reserve a number for you. As it was we got a number and did our time waiting. Our number was about 25 away from the number called when we arrived. We had a larger party so we had to wait a little longer but they were calling at about one number per minute. Once our number was called we we're led to a table for our party. The waitress took our drink order and the we we're free to roam the buffet. Buffet are interesting because it's a mix of eating what you want and trying to eat your money's worth. I started off with a Chinese plate with sweet and soir chicken general TSOs chicken and beef and broccoli with hot and sour soup. All of it was good in the Americanized Chinese food fashion. I then went back for a Japanese style spin with cheese covered green mussels, sushi and seaweed salad. The mussel was okay but it had pieces of shell. The sushi was okay but the seaweed salad was disappointing because it was overly rubbery. I finished off the meal with a dessert plate of banana pudding, peanut brittle, chocolate ice cream and a Chinese doughnut. Each was very good. Came in with my family since it was conveniently located and we were looking for a quick meal. They offer a salad bar, sushi, a limited dessert bar, and some Mongolian cooking options. Everything was very blah to me, I just felt like there wasn't one thing that stood out to me. Many of their dishes were oddly covered in melted cheese to maybe make it more appealing? I think everything needed seasoning and there were wasn't a ton of flavor, definitely more quantity over quality. The service was nice, I saw several employees consistely putting out more food and cleaning the the buffet area which was nice. I am not a fan of this place. I go out of family obligation once a year and dread it every time (as do two of my sisters). I should say though, that I am not a huge Chinese fan (I don't hate it but I don't seek it out) and I don't eat Sushi. I find all of the food here sub par and occasionally find myself quietly spitting it out. The desserts are also a huge letdown. It's only slightly redeeming quality, for me, is the Mongolian grill. Despite being fairly new, I have a difficult time buying into the hype (better than the rest) surrounding King Buffet. Now, granted, I haven't eaten at the other buffets around the area but if King Buffet was truly the best, they'd have my vote and my business - so why go elsewhere? When I skipped into the bustling buffet, the tables were "packed" it seemed, meaning the wait would be long and painful. Within a few minutes however, a table opened up. Wait, make that, the staff got their bearing together and realized they could seat people in the completely not filled room!.. you know, the one where staff neglect to go. Great. In regards to food, the selection varied but wasn't extensive, and the food/floors seemed slow to restock/clean. Nothing much to really say, it's just - based on the hype, I truly expected a lot more. Food quality was meh, workers seemed irate or distant, and the Mongolian grill ... nah ... I came here on Christmas for lunch with my family, and this place was packed! The wait time was only about 10 minutes before we got seated, and there is a fairly spacious waiting area so it wasn't bad at all. They were serving dinner all day so the price was $11.99/person and drinks were extra. Out of all the Chinese buffets I've visited in utah, King buffet is probably the best. Most of the items were good and there was over 200 things to choose from. There's plenty of fried items, steamed dishes, soups, sushi, a Mongolian grill and made to order steak. I liked the clams, salmon nigiri and stir fried noodles the best. There's also to go options where they charge you by the pound if you wish to do take out. read more

A few of the last memories I had with my grandmother were here. She loved this place. When I graduated we all came here. When she wanted to "go out" for dinner we would come here. There is a plethora of seating available here, able to arrange so that your party may convene together. There are many options to choose from in regards to food. There is a good selection of desserts, sushi, and Asian delicacies. My gripes are as follows: sticky tables, pushy service, very loud atmosphere, and high price. Wow. What a buffet. I didn't even know that you could have this many options at one restaurant! I liked almost everything that I tried. The staff was nice and helpful. I almost had to be rolled out of the restaurant--that's how you know it was good stuff. Overall, the place was clean, the food was fresh, and people were kind. If you are reeeeeeally hungry, it's worth it to go when they charge full price (evenings and weekends I think). If you're moderately hungry, it's worth it to go anytime they have the less expensive price. Will be going back the next time I visit Utah. read more

Overall the food was okay but the crowd omg so many people you have to line up and there were like groups of 10s. This was Saturday dinner. When I first go in I thought it was a line to get in the queue because I couldn't even see whatever was on the front of that huge crowd. You know, not the best buffet, but they have great variety. You have a sushi bar, and other Asian food options. Salad bar is ok. What makes it good is the Mongolian BBQ, you can make some great meals. Some places would charge the same price for either Asian buffet, sushi buffet, or Mongolian BBQ. Love going to this place. They have a large varieties of different foods, seafoods and sushi. It does get over crowded a lot but that can only mean 1 thing. Food must be good if people are always coming back. They even have a large Mongolian Grill. My least favorite thing would be the womens bathroom. I wish they could at least put some air fresheners in there because every time I go in there to wash my hands before I eat it's always very stinky that I have to pull my shirt up to help me live through washing my hands. The building is in a strip mall in the corner. You walk in to the building and see an endless amount of food. Big red flag in my book. One of the coolest buffets I have entered. Employees were respectful for the most part. The food is very fresh and their sea food is fresh and cooked in front of you as they serve on the platter. I myself do not like seafood but my friend who loves seafood ate 4 plates of sushi and shrimp and egg roles so I will take his word and accept that the food was good. I served myself some Beef and Broccoli and the meat was a bit limp like my err- anyway the beef was good regardless and the fried rice was god tier good. I ended up getting myself a full plate of jello and it was not a good idea because I got myself bloated with the 4 th jello I ate. I still had the full plate of jello and the servers picked it up and gave me a nasty look as they picked up the plate. Hopefully they didn't cuss at me in their own language behind my back. When writing restaurant reviews on restaurants like this it is hard not to compare apples to oranges. If I said this was the best Asian food I'd be lying - PF Chang's is much better for instance. However, if I said this was the best Asian buffet around, that is absolutely the truth. All the negative reviews seem to ignore this fact. Let's face it - with buffet restaurants the food is always a little bland and if it sits in the chafing dishes too long it is overcooked or in the case of salad it's wilted. King Buffet has the BEST selection of sushi, salad and food of any Asian buffet around (I would love to know if there is a better one). I do wish they would season the sushi rice a bit more. I have eaten there a dozen times and never been sick - perhaps I am smart enough not to eat buffet mussels or shellfish. Whenever I hear of people getting sick at restaurants I always am skeptical - hundreds of people eat there every day and you are the only one that got sick eating the exact same food. Was it really the food? Yes, the food can be overcooked - find me a buffet where it isn't. Their selection is head and shoulders above the other local ones as well. That's why this place is always PACKED. So honestly, yeah, it's buffet food, but it's the best buffet food you can find. Just choose wisely in your selections. "Fit for a King" as the phrase goes... My humongous family packed this joint recently after a family gathering. Grant it we were all split up at different tables but since we didn't give prior notification I can't complain too much. The dining room layout and interior isn't anything spectacular, reminds me of all Asian buffets. However, the food menu was impressive. Lots of seafood selections (each cooked differently), fried foods, pizza, fruits, desserts, and the list goes on. Oh and even a Mongolian BBQ station! So I piled up my plate with all the fixings from sushi to moist dinner rolls and butter then topped my meal off with Chinese donuts and soft serve ice cream. Mouth watering yumminess! Btw, not all was good. There was a huge language barrier with our server... At times we had to ask another server for help. Food is kind of a hot or miss. Sometimes it's hot and fresh others it's cold or stale. The staff is very nice and very cautious with hygiene they make you wear your mask and gloves while getting your food which is nice. Tends to be a bit busy and have lots of people but honestly no complaints. read more
