7/7/26 Been here previously with friends & decided to have pho today. Allen was our server again, friendly & pleasant, helpful. Only indoor seating available, good for large groups. Street parking & you may also park at Hawaii Market lot. Lots of to-go orders were being filled as we sat. I ordered pho, tendon only & Hubby ordered #222 Red rice with kalbi bbq ribs--amazing both were HUGE portions. The beef was tender & juicy. My pho was also pretty good but comparing it to my favorite place in Artesia-- it's not as rich or flavorful but pretty good. Will likely return as it's closer to our place. Good experience!
Glad I found this restaurant. It has all the dishes, maybe not all, but all the dishes that I love. Some of my favorite dishes they have are: Cơm Tấm Phở Bún Bò Huế Bánh Bèo Nem Nướng Cuốn Cơm Đỏ Gà Rôti Cháo Bánh Canh Bánh Hỏi Chè And more... We end up getting: - Bánh Bèo - Nem Nướng Cuốn - Cơm Tấm King Special Combo (10 Items) - Cơm Tấm Bò Nướng with Chả Giò Tôm - Passion Fruit Drink - Pennywort Drink The staffs here were friendly and welcoming. The place is kinda nice. Nothing too fancy. The dishes that we tried were good. And the drinks were refreshing. Glad we discovered this restaurant. Will definitely come back to try my other favorite dishes.
This was across the hotel I was at. It had good ratings so I gave it a try. Lots of tables inside. It wasn't full, but lots of customers dining in and picking up. I ordered egg rolls and the Pho Dac Biet. The egg rolls came out first. Fresh from the fryer with lettuce, herbs and the nuoc mam/fish sauce. I ended up fishing that on my own (first meal of the day haha). I was wondering where my pho was. I flagged down the server and he seemingly forgot. He rushed to the kitchen to get that going and it came out within a few minutes. Broth check first. It was light and had flavor. Didn't need to add hot sauce or hoisin sauce. Dressed up the pho with the herbs and went at it. Finished that as well. Pretty extensive menu. Fresh food. Overall, a nice place to grab some Vietnamese food.
This place reminds one of my favorite com tam restaurants. I have tried so many different com tam places in the area and this place gives me bang for a buck. Large portion and the food is also great. Service was also good. They have plenty of tables and clean interior. Highly recommended their special combo.
Still as good as I remember. This is a spot I'd stick with for the dry dishes like rice and noodles. We got it to-go this time and I really enjoyed what we ordered. Bun Cha Hanoi - Always good, and the portions were great (tons of noodles). (5/5) Red Rice Grilled Beef - The rice was flavorful, and the beef had a nice smoky grilled taste. (4.5/5) I'll keep coming back here, it's always good.
I was really craving com tam the other night and decided to come here. I've never actually dined in, but this has been one of my go to spots for good com tam. I always order the King Special which lets you pick your meats. I usually go with the pork chop since it feels the most classic. The plate is huge and pretty much comes with every com tam item they offer, and I like all of them so it works out perfectly. It also comes with soup and honestly the portion is big enough to be 2 to 3 meals for me. I usually call my order in and it's ready by the time I get there which I appreciate. Solid spot for com tam and I know I'll be back again.
Really good food with subpar service you'd expect to find in the 626. The deliciousness of the food outweigh the service by far. They didn't refill our water once and basically ignored us lol The free soup at the beginning is a nice touch and the meat is big. The com tam king deluxe special is seriously so good and huuge in portions. This can be easily shared with two people. Parking is slightly annoying and ended up parking at the Hawaii supermarket lot
Was driving on Valley Blvd the other day and noticed King Com Tam. It's located right next Hawaii Supermarket and if you know you know. The parking lot feels like you're fighting with everyone and it's notorious for getting random dents on your car. I steered clear of this and was able to find street parking along Valley. I had called maybe 20 minutes before coming in to pick up my order and just read their menu numbers back to them to prevent any miscommunications. I ordered the Banh Hoi Bo, Tau Hu Ky which is thin vermicelli paties with grilled beef, bean curd skin with shrimp. There was a good amount of vermicelli patties with my order, I think more than what other places put. The grilled beef was tender and matched perfectly with their fish sauce. I really enjoyed the bean curd skin with shrimp. There was a crunchy piece (not sure what it was) with every bite which added a nice texture. My family ordered eggrolls as an appetizer and the skin had a nice crunch and the filling was delicious. They pack their vegetables and fish sauce on the side. I did sneak a bite of their rice and it was what you would expect com tam to be like. My parents were able to share their King Special Combo with a side of red rice and it was definitely enough food to share between them. They let you pick between their different protein of pork, beef, and chicken.
King Com Tam is a decent com tam spot in the SGV area. I came here with my parents on the weekend. We ate there at around noon and it was definitely busy. However, we were able to grab a table quickly. The entrance is wheelchair accessible. For parking, street parking is usually difficult to grab off of valley. I did park at the Hawaii Supermarket and walked over. My mom, dad, and I all got our own com tam orders. We all enjoy our dishes! This was surprising since my mom tends to think a lot of restaurant orders are on the saltier side. Portions were very generous and we had to even grab a takeout box. I also ordered the Ca Phe Sua Da as well; it was a bit more on the bitter side. There was also a small included and it was okay. Prices came out to be roughly $21.00 per dish. They do not accept American Express. VISA cards were accepted.
Back in October, my friends and I spent a month vacation in Vietnam and we were introduced to Com Tam. We wanted to see if King Com Tam Vietnamese Restaurant is as authentic as we had in Vietnam. Com tam - Vietnamese broken rice is rice that was broken during the milling process. If you're unfamiliar, broken rice has a couscous-like texture. The broken rice plate options might seem extensive, but it's just rice with various combinations of pork chop, beef, pork, fried bean curd with shrimp paste, egg roll, sausage, shredded pork and skin, and steamed egg loaf. All served with veggies, a small bowl of broth, and fish dipping sauce. The plates run from $12.99 to $20.99 for the 10-item plate. If you don't see exactly the plate combination you're looking for, you can just tell the waiter which items you want and they'll charge accordingly. Just ask if you can swap items. Not Vietnam authentic, but then again I am no expert but definitely satisfied our cravings and brought back memories of our month long trip. We loved it so much that a month ago during the rainy weather that we went back so we can try the noodle soup/pho. The portions were generous for around $13.99 a bowl. I was craving Bun bo Hue, Vietnamese spicy beef noodle soup and my friends ordered beef pho and hu tieu, a Vietnamese Phnom Penh-style seafood noodle soup with pork and shrimp. It was good but I've had better. Service was good. The ambiance and presentation is spot on.

Really really good rice plates. Most other things, meh. But the rice plates, oh lord I'm in love. I ordered the 10 item rice plate, banh beos, and nem nuong cuon. The nem nuong cuons did not arrive and some other pork egg rolls arrived. Not sure what they were but we still ate them and we're satisfied. Everything on the 10 item plate was so good. We shared that among three people and we all were satisfied. The banh beo was alright. Most of the banh beo were way too thin and the topping on top tasted stale. I would skip this. Overall I would only come here for the rice plates. They're not known for anything else anyway. Service was okay. The guy who helped us out was new so he did struggle, but everyone needs a grace period. Luckily we had another employee step in and help. The employees here speak, Mandarin, Vietnamese, and Cantonese. read more

Got the house special Pho I forgot the number 73 or 79. The Pho is filling and savory just the rice noodle felt over soaked. The egg rolls are bussin not to mention the fish sauce paired for it is Fuego. Tony is a wonderful host and helped us get situated and even played a music video for my mother in law. I will definitely come back and try the #16 with red rice. Overall the service was amazing. read more

Divine. Please go try now. Seriously, one of the best vermicelli bowls I've had in my life. Vermicelli bowls are always my go to order at Vietnamese restaurants but this one was amazinggggg. Although the restaurant is known for their broken rice plates, this meal was just as good. The order came out fast and service was really great. The owner was very sweet and really cares for his customers. Go support! read more

I was craving good, authentic Vietnamese food, and this place hit the spot! Their com tam is delicious, def worth the 30 min drive we made. We both ordered com tam/broken rice, #59 & 64, and our food came out very quickly. Everything was so flavorful and perfectly cooked, from the grilled meats to the side soup. Portions were huge, we have enough leftover for another meal. Overall, will definitely be making the trip out here again. P.S. There is limited street parking in front. It might be easier to park in the (busy) supermarket parking lot and walk over. read more

I think this place has renovated since the last time I've been here. The rice plates here are on point. They most popular is the #16 which iven gotten before and it was a giant plate of food. This most recent time, I decided on the #62 and although that was a lot of food too, I was able to finish it. The rice plates come with a bowl of broth which is a nice touch. There is street parking in front of the restaurant. However, you can also park in the Hawaii grocery store lot. That definitely saves the stress factor in trying to find a parking spot. read more

Let me just say...parking is rough. This restaurant is next to Hawaii super market, which can get pretty packed. My mom wanted to go here and I wasn't really expecting much. We ordered a bunch and everything was decent or really good. The staff were so welcoming, friendly, and attentive. 5/5!! Foods Grilled meatball 5/5: in love. I can't get enough of it. It's packed with flavor and has a nice bite to it. If you come here you have to order!! I haven't seen this dish at other places, but I'll be on the lookout from now on. Red rice with Korean short rib 5/5: my mom ordered this for me and I didn't have high expectations. It was actually pretty good, I finished my plate. I would definitely order this again! Pho 4/5: it's pretty decent pho, there's a lot of noodles which is what I like. I have no complaints. Broken rice 5/5: I've been coming here for a while, it's my comfort food. This dish has been very consistent. I can't get enough of the soup!! It's so flavorful :) I would say this place has better broken rice than most other places in the area. read more
King Com Tam is the place to go for all your com tam cravings. With great prices, large portions, and a delicious homemade taste, you can't go wrong here! I ordered the 5 roll plate of egg rolls and the com tam king special. The special gives you everything possible, arguably enough food for two! If you are craving broken rice, this restaurant is the one for you! My family of 4 came here at 11AM on a Sunday morning. The place was packed so we waited about 15 minutes before we got seated. When we entered it did not look like they were operating at 25% capacity, it looked more like 100% since the table next to us was only a few feet away. We are all vaccinated so it didn't bother us but if it bothers you, I would consider waiting a few more months until everything is better. I ordered the Korean short rib with sunny side egg on top and tau hu ky. The broken rice dish comes with fish sauce, pickled veggies, and a bowl of soup. It was so delicious. The meat was tender and the egg was the cherry on top. My sister is a vegetarian and they didn't have any vegetarian options on the menu, but the kitchen whipped up some broken rice with fried tofu and eggs on top, which was extremely nice of them! We also got Che ba Mau-- it's super bean forward if you're into that. It's super sweet so if you got a sweet tooth, try this refreshing dessert. I got a penny worth drink as well and it was not too sweet, just to my liking. This place used to be cash only but takes card now due to the pandemic. read more

Today we are featuring a mom and pop Vietnamese restaurant called Com Tam Thuan Kieu. CTTK serves traditional Vietnamese dishes including: pho, noodles, vermicelli, and other delicious items, but their house special is definitely com tam (broken rice). Items in picture: 1. Com Tam Thuan Kieu 10 Items This dish is an absolute beast, it combines 10 different types of items including: pork chop, sausage, shrimp cake, pork meatball, egg meatloaf, shredded pork skin, shrimps, fried pork loaf, and egg rolls. For around $15 bucks this item is a steal. The flavors are amazing and they also give you a side of pork bone soup to wash it all down. All the meats are extremely flavorful and they all carry a different texture. The best combination in my opinion goes like this: meat-rice-salad/egg loaf-a sip of the soup. 2. Cha Gio One of my favorite items to get at a Vietnamese restaurant. The filling of the egg roll is amazing, paired with the veggies, the fried egg rolls balances out the unhealthyness (I wish). But this is definitely a must get item because it's soooo incredibly crispy and delicious. Tip: You can always share a rice bowl with other people and they can get a different dish. I came here during COVID lockdown because I really wanted nem nuong and Summer Rolls is closed during rona. Com Tam didn't disappoint! It wasn't the same as Summer Rolls obviously, but pretty close so I'll take it. I also got their shrimp paste and grilled beef with red rice. That was DELICIOUS and huge portions. I would take a picture but I ate it all before I was able to snap one. I definitely recommend this place! Also they're still cash only right now, so I guess drop by an ATM and hand sanitize after. read more

My group came here on a Sunday night to order take out since we were craving com tam. The man at the counter taking orders was very nice and attended to us right away. I got com tam with grilled pork and shrimp paste. Our orders took about 15-20 minutes to come out. If you are doing take out, I recommend calling to see if you can place the order over the phone prior to coming in. Each com tam dish came with pickled vegetables, fish sauce, and soup on the side. The thit nuong and shrimp paste were flavorful and salty enough that I did not use fish sauce to complement my com tam. I really like that it comes with soup because I like to wash everything down at the end with it. The broth reminds me of a home made Vietnamese meal and brought me some comfort. In terms of price and portion size, I would say this is definitely bang for your buck. I ate more rice per amount of protein since it was a little saltier and I was able to split it up such that I had enough for 2.5 meals. I did have to make extra rice though! Overall, this will be my go-to place for com tam in the 626 area! read more

Grew up eating here when it was still named Com Tam Thuan Kieu. This place brings back so much memories for me. Idk if they just renamed or changed owner but they definitely remodeled the place. Even with that, it still had the comfy mom and pops feel. I remember near the counter was stacks of Nuoc Mam, that I always wondered why they would just leave out. They no longer do that here. They still have the 10 item combo, so I ordered #16 Com Tam King Special 10 item Combo with a side of Tra Da (Ice Tea). Definitely a filling meal. The servers needed to be a bit attentive because we requested our ice tea to be filled a few times before they actually came by to refill it, but it's what's expected at an Asian restaurant. Food was delicious and came with a side of soup. I remembered the plate being a lot bigger, or it's just a memory when I was young. Definitely my go to for Com Tam. read more
Generous portion broken rice plate with soooo much meat at a great price! Seriously each plate will lasts you 2 meals! Their nem nuong pork spring rolls is pretty legit and delicious too. We phone in an order during Covid stay at home and our order was ready by the time we drove down in 15 minutes. I was curious about their bun rieu tomato noodles but the broth was very bland and I did not like how they added pork blood in it. So definitely stick to the rice plates because that is what they are known for. It's basically their own menu! They also packed with our order a lot of lettuce, basil leaves, and pickled veggies. We got a #2 plate, an appetizer plate, the bun rieu noodles, and the nem nuong pork rolls. With so much leftovers for the whole weekend we can keep staying at home. read more

I must say this was one of the best meals I've had in a while! We arrived about half an hour before closing and I was worried we were too late but they were super accommodating and seated us immediately. Since it was our first time I asked the owner for some recommendations and he suggested the Com Tam King special broken rice combo that has a bit of everything, the Red Rice with Grilled Beef, and the mung bean and 3 color che. The food came out mad fast and everything was really good but the broken rice was 100% the standout item - highly recommend! The owner was super kind and kept checking in on us throughout our meal even though they were closing. Overall 10/10 experience would definitely go back !! read more
As stated in the name, this place is the king when it comes to broken rice. I've tried other restaurants but I always come back to this place. It's a Vietnamese joint - no frills. There was a giant TV broadcasting some show about food and instrumental Vietnamese music blasting. Before talking about their broken rice, I need to talk about their soup. It is SO good! It's just their regular old soup that they provide before any meal but it's really delicious. For instance, my friend and I were talking about a restaurant with really good soup. and it turns out that we were both talking about this place. This place gets a 4.5 but they're bumped up to 5 because this soup is complimentary even though they give you a big lump of meat in your soup. They have a very extensive menu but I've never gotten any entrees other than the broken rice. My family members like to have the 7-item broken rice but I like to stick to one item, the grilled pork. The fish sauce is nice and tangy. Make sure to pour it over your broken rice to get the most flavor out of it. I also ordered the banh beo, which was really good. There was a healthy helping of shrimp and I liked the added crispy texture to it. I'm not sure you can even call it an appetizer. I was full after slurping down my soup and eating my half of the banh beo. The portion sizes are insane. They barely look like they fit on the plate. Between 3 people, we ordered 3 entrees and an appetizer and it could scarcely fit on the 4-seater table. Service is OK. The staff is nice but we had to call them over for refills on our drinks. They also forgot to bring my che 3 mau. But one of the owners came by to ask how everything was and I got my che. It was packed and the shaved ice came right to the top of my cup. My mom used the restroom and said it was very nice, which is always appreciated. I did not personally verify but take my mom's word for it. read more

Came here on a Monday night, the food was good but the service was a bit lackluster. I was asked to order twice, before the rest of our party arrived (2/5). We were served appetizers without any plates and after asking twice, the response was "it was coming." I guess you can come here for the food but don't come for the service. Their spring rolls are really good though, not gonna lie. read more

This review will be solely based on food. I've been coming here for years, but never got around to writing a great review that they deserve. This restaurant gives a large amount of food. Their 7 item Com Tam combo came up to ~$14 after tax, but was enough food to feed a family of 3. Bean curd w/ shrimp and eggroll was nice and crispy. Pork chop slightly dry, but not a big enough problem for me to remove a star. Steamed egg was delicious - soft and moist. Overall, it's a bang for your buck and I'll continue to come here and do takeout often. P.S Parking is pretty frustrating, because you have to fight with all the hawaii supermarket people, so if you're just picking up, try to go with someone else, so they can drop you off on the street section. read more

Officially my favorite spot for broken rice!!! The meat marinades tend to be on the sweet side, but in a very tasty way. I love the pickled veggies they serve with every dish and the complementary pipping hot broth!! So good!!! Next time I have to remember to try the nem noung... I'm just a creature of habit. Find something amazing and stick to it like glue hahaha Their meat loaf and shrimp paste deep fried in tofu skin are absolutely delicious!!! Some restaurant the meat loaf taste spoiled but this place, been here twice already and never disappoints. The only con is the kitchen cleans with some heavy products. The smell of ammonia during your meal is very off putting. read more

First we tried this to-go and then we came back to the restaurant and ate inside twice now. Great food and good dining experience. The first time we got it to-go, we called in the order. We each got the broken rice special. Holy shit the meal is BIG. We had enough to eat for lunch and dinner. They do not skimp on the food. Pork, egg rolls, shrimp, eggs, shrimp loaf, veggies, etc. It was super good and very filling. When we ate in the restaurant, I was surprised by how quickly the food came out and how attentive the staff is. One time I was waiting for my bf's food to come out and someone I think might own the restaurant asked if I was ok since I hadn't touched my food yet haha. We've had their pho tai nam, Cornish hen with red rice, spring rolls, and their hu tieu tom. All of them were good. I probably wouldn't try the hu tieu again as it was just ok. Their broken rice is still their best dish but denggggg the Cornish hen was very good and a close second. Oh they also make a very good avocado shake and I know it's fresh because I saw them make it. read more
What's up: It's lunchtime and we were feeling like grabbing some Vietnamese food. Based on recommendations, this place has a good price with good food. And getting some broken rice sounded good to me. Parking: Not very awesome. They don't have their own parking lot. If you manage to find parking in the Hawaii Supermarket lot, congrats! If not, you'll have to resort to street parking. Environment: Upon entry, we were welcomed and shown to a table quickly. The environment was bright and decorated with art and TVs. What was ordered: I ordered the Broken Rice with Shrimp Paste and Grilled Pork. It came with a complementary soup. The broken rice is yummy when you drizzle the fish sauce on top since it absorbs the flavors really well. Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. I enjoyed the Broken Rice dish here. The food was tasty and it was a pretty good price for the amount of food given. The staff was friendly and came by every so often to check up on us. If only parking was better... Cash only! read more

My first impression: this place must be a joke! I mean, 10 items with Broken rice for only $13.99? Oooooh myyyyy goooodness! Why didn't I find this place earlier? I mean, 10 items? Jesus! The portion is GINORMOUS, enough to feed a small village! (Okay, maybe I exaggerate a bit, for 2-3 people without question) I also loved their #13 rice cake with dried shrimp and pork a lot too! We both couldn't stop eating, literally! It's SO good! The only downside is probably the meat quality (especially beef), we opted for grilled beef (one of the 10 items, or else you can choose grilled pork or pork chop) and a combination pho, the price is cheap but some meat were a bit too tough...Honestly, I probably wouldn't come again for pho, soup was good though! Service: It is kind of hard to flag someone down! It happened to me that the server forgot to give me the complimentary pork bone soup, I told one male server about it and he asked me to tell his sister. (And I was like, I don't know who your sister is??) But, aw well! All in all, this is a traditional authentic Vietnamese restaurant. Their broken rice is legit. Would I come back to this place? FATPHOBIC server larger queens and sisters, please beware of this before coming to eat here (つ .* _ *.)つ me and my female friend wanted to try this place because we were craving viet food. after my friend told her she wanted the bigger portion of broken rice dish that i got, she proceeded to say in vietnamese something about her eating choices and how she should cut down on some weight in vietnamese. she pointed to the menu, and made hand gestures around her own body (rolls) because she knew that there was a language barrier. my friend made sure she heard the same thing i did and asked me if our server called her fat. she downplayed it and said she did not let it affect her but i knew she was about to cry on the spot. i was furious and wanted to leave the place. my friend insisted on staying as she told me this would be the last time we eat here. she is way too kind, even after being offended by a rude, short lady with a popped blood vessel in her eyes. i tried my best to make her feel better and gave very minimal attention to the lady. this is not okay to do, and i would have gave $0 tips, but my friend insisted we not relay the negativity. dear owner of restaurant, please emphasize on how to deliver great customer service by not letting their traditional/cultural values get in the way of work. please do better by telling your servers to refrain from speaking badly about someone's body, appearance, and feature. read more

We ordered take-outs here on a nice, beautiful weekend. Looking through the online ahead of time, we ordered Com Tam Thuan Kieu (7 item & 10 items) and nem nuong cuon. I was very surprised to see how much food we received. They were a bit dry but overall super good value. They came with the soup with a piece of pork ribs as well. The nem nuong cuon is not too good so I won't order it again. I cannot wait to have a dine-in experience at this restaurant. I will probably choose the 7 items com tam order instead of 10 items. I'm sure this place has more to offer and I cannot wait to explore the menu once this COVID crisis is behind us. The place is next to supermarket. They are street parking right in front of the restaurant. If you're in town, I highly recommend you to try this place out. read more
