I was passing this place and spotted parking! Always forget how much I enjoy their food. Meant to order reg. Chicken gyro but ordered gyro plate. With hummus & tabouli .. Both very flavorful. Wish I could have finished it all but the chicken gyro was very filling & delicious. Will stop more often. Really enjoy the Gyros. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed gyros until I ate here. This is one of the very few Mediterranean restaurants in Sonoma County. Unfortunately, it just isn't the best and their portions are quite small. Their falafel is actually quite delicious, but I can't say anything else my husband and I tried was all that great. I got a chicken salad and the chicken was pretty bland and there weren't many other toppings on the salad to make up for it. My husband got the gyros and he said it tasted really good but it was pretty small. We left still hungry and haven't had a desire to go back. I love this little restaurant. They make excellent, fresh, Middle Eastern food for a very reasonable price. I've eaten lunch there at one of their few outside tables, and I've ordered platters to-go from them on three different occasions. Every time the presentation was beautiful, the food ample and tasty, and the service warm, hospitable, and appreciative of my patronage. I think this is really an understated little gem in Sebastopol, and I enjoy supporting these very kind people and their DELICIOUS food. I just went today and on the way out accidentally hit a jar of their sauces over that they were selling, and broke it. Begged the owner to let me pay for it but he refused, saying "don't worry my friend, things like this happen all the time in life!" And he wished me a wonderful day. We ordered the King Sampler to try the standards: felafel, hummus, babaganoush, dolma. All were perfect. The felafel had a slightly crunchy shell and moist but not greasy interior. The hummus was creamy but not runny or dry. We left happy and plan to return. read more

Since ownership has changed the portion size has gone way down. Hardly any shatta sauce in the falafel wraps. Aside from that, they make tasty food quickly in their clean efficient kitchen. I hope they can manage to get their portion sizes back where they need to be or lower their prices a bit to reflect the new smaller portions. Update - Since they stopped carrying Guayaki, I won't go there any more. It wasn't so much that they stopped carrying them, it was the bad-mouthing of a great local company. You'd think that a recipe as basic as falafel is, well, easy to make. Apparently not. Just try it all over the North Bay and you'll see for yourself; it's normally thrown onto just about every vegetarian "friendly" menu as a protein source but the freshness and flavor typically fall short. Lucky for us, King Falafel comes really close to falafel perfection and authenticity. It's perfectly fried (to-order), flavorful, and fresh *all* the time. Their excellence is not limited to falafel, however; their sides (meze) and combo plates are super-tasty and the portions extremely generous. It's an overall great value for meat lovers like myself as well as the gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian crowds. I'd say the only downside would be that they do not make their own gyros and they only have lamb shawarma as a special. I'll bump them to five stars if that ever get rid of the only not-so-natural thing on their menu (gyros) and permanently add the lamb shawarma. The desserts on the counter are actually really great, too. They get them from a good bakery elsewhere and they're mmm-mmm-good. As for customer service: I give it an A for overall speed, accuracy (of orders), and friendliness. They don't whine and fuss about substitutions and are clearly working hard to keep everyone happy. Great customer service here. I was driving by and saw their sign. I decided to pop in and I am glad I did. The staff was very kind and their food was good. I had the chicken skewer. It was tasty. The hummus was pretty good, but the winner was their pita. I'm not sure if they make it, but it was fresh and tested great. I will go back again. The next time I am trying the shawarma. I've never been a fan of falafel because they've been dry or bird seedy or plain. So when I was invited to try this place, I was reluctant. However, this spicy falafel sandwich wasn't too bad. This place was a pleasant surprise. My brother and I read about it online and thought we'd give it a try. They came up in a vegan search, so considering I am vegan I thought this would be a great place to try. As soon as we walked in we were helped by a friendly girl working at the counter. I asked if the falafel was vegan and she quickly showed me what else was also vegan and gluten-free. I ended up ordering the Deluxe Falafel Sandwich. It came with eggplant, pickles, a spicy olive oil infused sauce, hummus, and a few other ingredients. It was AMAZING and spicy. I highly recommend this place for vegans and non-vegans. But understand that this place makes their food fresh so expect to wait a few minutes for your food. Quality vs. quantity and speed. Everyone in our family to pick dad and eight year old to our one year old fresser. They have the best Mediterranean food around. They're always friendly and have great fast service. We often ask for extra pita...and they give to us...for free!!! The falafels are amazing, the gyros are yummy, and the hummus scrumptious. And to wash it down I usually sip on a Reeds Extra Ginger Brew. Mmm my mouth is watering just thinking about our meal last night. They have another location in Cotati that is just as good. I give 3 star because of one of the times I came in had a new girl she messed my order up and tried to guide me away from what I wanted. Unassuming looking on the outside, and simply decorated inside. Service was quick and friendly. Food came up in a reasonable time. Menu has veggie, and meat options. The Gyro I had today, had been the best I've had so far in the north bay. This is the 3rd Middle Eastern restaurant I've found. One in Napa, Gyro was ok. One in Rohnert Park, was better than one in Napa. This one, at King Falafel, has been the best so far. In my opinion. I'll be back again to try out other items on the menu. The Turkish coffee is outstanding. Not to often you can find places serve Turkish coffee. This place seems like a hidden gem, in my opinion. read more

This review is based on several visits during a stay of several weeks near Sebastopol. First of all, these are LOVELY people. Which I care about almost as much as the food. But the food is divine. Everything we tried -- lebni sandwich, the king sampler platter, falafel, gyros -- isn't just very good, very fresh; it has that extra dimension that all expertly-prepared food from high-quality ingredients has. I drive past this place everyday on my way home from work around lunchtime and always see the outdoor seating area full of people who look very happy about their food. I've been wanting to visit for awhile and we finally did today. It was GREAT! They have helpful staff to answer questions you may have about unfamiliar items, their prices are reasonable- not cheap, but not too expensive, and their atmosphere is good. They have a water stand filled with refreshing cucumber and mint water. We ordered a side of falafels and hummus and one beef gyro and a lamb gyro. The food came very quick and was presented nicely. The gyros came wrapped in foil ready to eat so you don't have to worry about the mess you would make if trying to eat them unwrapped. Everything was delicious! The falafel were some of the best I've ever had. They make them in a slightly tapped down half dome instead of a full ball so they are perfect for taking neat bites out of them. They were moist and delicious! We will most definitely be going back again. read more

Very good, not excellent but affordable and diverse menu with tasty and quality ingredients. My suggestions for improvement is to use more veggies for crunchy sandwiches and give the hummus more flavor zip. Visited King Falafel today, based on rave reviews from a friend of mine. I found it to be as good as she said it was! The place is easily accessible, and there is parking on the street. The sign for it is on the building, so it could be easy to miss . If you are coming east into Sebastopol on Hwy 12, turn R onto Hwy 116, and take the first right. It will be on the right, in the first block. OK. Once you are there, the owner and chef is super friendly, as is the server. Both are eager to share information about their food. I had the Deluxe Falafel sandwich. It came wrapped in super thin and almost crispy flatbread that was delicious. Four big, fat, delicious falafel balls filled the sandwich, and were cooked perfectly. A bit of a crispy outside, and delicious inside. It also came filled with hummus, tomato, lettuce, eggplant, pickles with tahini and shatta sauce. I was warned that it was super spicy, so they went easy on the heat. I found the whole thing to be perfectly executed. The veggies inside were super fresh, and the whole combo of flavors was amazing. It is quite large, maybe enough to share. I managed to eat the whole thing! Inside, the eating area is small but cozy, some booths and tables. There is a TV on, volume not too loud. They have secure WiFi, and they give you the password. Easy to get on with a good signal. I loved the sandwich and the people there, and look forward to returning to try more items. read more
