We have been getting carry-out so much because of the pandemic, it was a real treat to dine in at Kitchen 1883. The tables are spaced apart and the staff wore their masks. We felt safe enough. The new menu had many interesting items but I decided to try the Anderson Township burger and since it was my birthday, we had desert. I am happy to report that this place tastes as great as it did before "the shut down". I have also become a silverware snob. Nice silverware is hard to find and a bent fork became a distraction! I would compare the food here to a gourmet experience so I hope they will get rid of the bent fork. Don't spoil a fantastic dining experience with a bent utensil. This place rocks! read more

Cincinnati Burger Week finally brought is into this location of Kitchen 1883. Burgers were good. We all agreed that they had a great amount of flavor. Meat was juicy. The toppings were on the sparse side. The burgers were packaged carefully, and they traveled well. French fries we were not nearly as impressed with. They might be better if eaten in the restaurant. By the time we get them home they were cold and stale. They were also on the salty side. Parking is plentiful. Orders may be placed online or by phone. It is quick and easy to pick up takeout orders, and be on one's way. read more

Food was amazing! My first time coming here i got the chicken and waffles with a side of fries. It did take a little long when we got there to get our food, but me and my family was constantly checked on by the staff! They even brought my son some crayons, coloring sheet and books which was sweet. The environment was also great as well! I definitely would recommend this restaurant and it's actually my favorite in the Anderson area! read more

My wife and I ordered carryout from her a couple weeks ago. I ordered the spicy chicken ranch wrap, which sounded like everything I could want enveloped in a tortilla. When we got home and pulled out the food, I realized that they meant BUSINESS when it came to cost to quantity ratio. $12 for a giant wrap with a side of fries was nothing to scoff at. Upon taking a bite of the wrap, I was very satisfied. Lots of flavor and well-cooked chicken made me very happy. The fries were fairly standard, not too much to rave about, but they were appropriately salted, which I enjoyed. All in all, not a ton to say (takeout certainly removes service/speed/atmosphere comments I would usually make), but a good meal for a good price. read more

I decided to try Kitchen 1883 in Anderson for the first time when I saw they had a Cinco De Mayo kit special pre order. I called in my order by the deadline and the person on the phone was friendly and helpful. When I arrived on the day of pickup I could not have been more impressed. I was greeted by no less than 5 people including a chef. Each person took the time to talk to me and thank me for giving them my business during this difficult time. These interactions were definitely genuine. I wouldn't have expected this from a place that was a bit more of a chain since it has ties to Kroger. One of the people I spoke with detailed the thoughtfulness behind even the to go containers. A lot of them are compostable! I arrived home to unpack all the goodies. There was a detailed instruction sheet for each item on how to reheat and whether to refrigerate or not. Lets start with the drinks! The Mango habanero and Pineapple Mint margaritas were sensational! They had the perfect blend of flavors and alcohol. They were not overly sweet, just well balanced. The spiced cookies were buttery and chewy, which is exactly how I want a cookie to be. The chips were good and the queso blanco was addictive. I wouldve wished for it to have a bit more flavor though. The spanish rice was good and firm, not mushy. The corn was super fresh as well as its comeback sauce and cojita cheese. The elote is tied for favorite part of the meal. The second tie is for the shrimp. It was cooked just right, with just the best seasoning. It was not rubbery at all and quite large. The carnitas was good, but I wouldve preferred shredded as opposed to the big chunks which weren't great for tacos. I obviously just had to chop it up more myself. The taco toppings and tortillas were all fresh, but not overly flavorful or unique. All in all it was a solid meal and great service from the staff! read more

50% off bottles of wine on Wednesday. Of course we had to go that day. We got a bottle of wine with an app. Soft pretzel bites and beer cheese... such a staple. I had the sweet Chile salmon with lo mien. Salmon was cooked perfectly. Only critique to this dish was I didn't expect a bowl of lo mien, but I expected more than 5 bites. My gf got the brisket sandwich. She said it was great but messy, and meat was a little fatty for her taste. Regardless she enjoyed it. She subbed the onion rings for couscous salad. The salad was full of flavor. Over all would definitely go back. If I could give it a 4.5 I would. Thursdays it's $5 martinis!!! Won't miss that! read more

Stopped by for a late lunch Sunday afternoon. There was a 20 minute wait for a table which seemed like a good sign & this place did not disappoint. Our friendly server took our drink order & then quickly took our lunch order. I had the Brussels Sprouts Salad ($10) & added chicken ($4) while my husband ordered Craft Beer Battered Cod ($14). I sampled his cod dipped in the remoulade sauce that came with it & it was divine. My salad was delicious also with the Brussels Sprouts charred just right. The Beechmont Avenue corridor is locally famous for poor service and Kitchen 1883 fit right in. My server was slow, far too casual about everything and had so many piercings in her face that it was hard to maintain my appetite. I realize that those piercings are a personal choice but if you are going to work with the public, you should think twice about all that. The menu is trying too hard to be outré and the food is very so-so. Disappointing. read more

Very good spot to eat! Cute and atmosphere is relaxed! Went here to try it out our server was extremely knowledgeable of the menu and helped us with our choice. We had a lovely lunch here. The dining room was open and airy but not too cold. My teenaged son was in the mood for chicken and enjoyed both the wings and the chicken sandwich. This a nice place - attractively decorated and the food was fine, but what stands can put in my mind was the service. It was absolutely exemplary! As our lunch progressed, that the servers seemed to be everywhere we'd need them to be - from welcoming us in on a cool, damp March day, to taking our orders, bringing it to us, refilling drinks without us having to ask, to clearing our dishes in an wonderfully unobtrusive way. I've never waited tables and I'm more used to one server taking care of the same customers throughout their visit. Here, it appeared to me that the rule among the servers is, "if you see something that needs doing, do it"...because I'm pretty sure that every server on the floor interacted with us at some point. We literally never had to wait for anything...except for our food to be made freshly for us. And every one of those servers was attentive, gracious, and very efficient. It was our first experience dining at this restaurant (we were in the area for a business meeting) but if we're back in that part of the world again, it's likely we'd make a return trip. read more

Had a dinner date her with another family couple. We love trying new places and are rarely on this side of town. I follow a lot of food groups and everyone is always raving about Kitchen 1883 being a must go in the Anderson area. We went on a week night and were quickly greeted and seated. I could see the possibility of waits if on the weekend, since the space isn't huge and having covid restrictions, but no issues for us! The menu looked great with a good variety of options. Draft and wine lists were also full of options. We kicked off with the pretzel bites and beer cheese - cheese was fantastic! Then we had the burgers, shrimp and grits, and fish and chips. I think I'm in love with this restaurant. All jokes aside, my husband and I ordered takeout from here last night, and I was very impressed. Kitchen 1883 has been on my list of places to try for quite some time, and I'm really glad we chose this for our dinner. I went with the brussel sprouts salad and vegan white bean soup while my husband got the chicken wrap. I started with my soup. At first, I thought the soup was good, but I wasn't overly thrilled with it. The more I ate, the more I liked it. Despite people thinking vegan options don't have much flavor, this soup definitely did. My salad was delicious. If you're going to order it, do yourself a favor and get it with the dressing they suggest. It's seriously SO yummy. I do wish it had more brussel sprouts though. I will openly admit that brussel sprouts are one of my favorite veggies, so I don't think I could ever have enough. I even had the leftover salad for my snack because I enjoyed it so much. My husband thought his wrap was good too, but I don't think he liked his food as much as I did mine. Another thing to mention is that these portion sizes are enormous! I love trying new restaurants - I sometimes find it hard spending over $10 on a dish that doesn't even fill me up. I am willing to do so in order to get good grub, though I always appreciate a large portion size. Finally, I thought the employees were so friendly. When I called to place my order, whoever picked up the phone was wonderful. He was really nice and entertaining too. When I picked up my food, the employees were also very friendly. Started out with the vegan white bean soup and it was so delicious. Not too thick, had some whole beans and just the right amount of green chili to make it flavorful. Split the hot honey chicken sandwich and the server was kind enough to bring it out on two plates. Loved the blue cheese slaw on top and the hot honey was more sweet than spicy but had a nice kick. Our server (Ron?) was just the sweetest.... My lunch date had to step outside to take a call that ran a little long so he ran some water outside! The atmosphere is good, the service is top notch. The food is good, but I am not sure if it's "hey let's go here for....." good. I had the French onion soup. It was different, is a good way to put it. It had a reddish tint to the broth and had a hint of fennel (I think) so it's not a "traditional " French onion. Then I had the fish and chips. The fish was beer battered cod and the fries were thin cut "shoestring" fries. Both of those were really good. So all in all, it's good, but, I suppose, not that good. read more

Just a really underwhelming experience. Went for Brunch on a Saturday around 10:45, one of the first tables seated there, so it wasn't overly busy. The brunch menu is a bit safe, same kind of brunch menu you'd find at like a hotel restaurant. The waitress boasted that they are a "90% scratch" restaurant, that nearly everything is made from scratch hardly any packaged ingredients. I ordered the avocado toast with a fried egg on top, and we got an order of biscuits and gravy to share. When our food came, I'm a bit disappointed in my avocado toast, the actual avocado on my toast is a completely smooth avocado spread which frankly tasted like generic avocado spread you buy in a tub from Kroger. The egg on top was also overcooked for my tastes (yolk cooked totally through completely solid) I realized I never was asked how I wanted my egg cooked nor did I specify that when ordering, so I asked my waitress if she could get me an over-easy egg for my toast and that I'd be happy to pay for the extra egg. Now here's the part that got under my skin. The wait staff enters the orders on a tablet device, which presumably get sent back to the kitchen. What they apparently don't have is any way to signal to the kitchen that what they're entering needs to be prioritized. It took 12 minutes for them to bring me my new egg, by that point the meal was nearly over. If a customer needs a new egg cooked (especially one server as a topper to a dish), you fire it up quick and bring it out quick. You don't let it sit in line like the rest of the tickets. Also we had to flag down our waitress (sometimes unsuccessfully as she seemed distracted) a few times to get coffee and water refills. I'm fairly certain the manager saw us clearly not having a very good experience (I know he saw us failing to be able to flag down our waitress) but he never once acknowledged us or checked on us. The gravy on the biscuits and gravy was actually really delicious. The biscuits were mediocre but that gravy was perfect, not too thick, very well seasoned. Thats about the only good thing about our meal. Oh, and they still charged us for the full meal and the replacement egg. I also find it very dumb that it was $2 to add an egg to my avocado toast, but just ordering 1 egg a la carte is $1.50 read more

Lunch here was a special experience on busy Tuesday. The menu was somewhat small but included what appeared to be some great dishes. Since we were here for cincy burger week we both ordered the aeoli horseradish cheeseburger, the burger of the week for seven bucks (a true bargain). I also had a side 1883 salad. Wife had the side couscous salad (loved it!). My salad had a variety of greens with an excellent tangy blue cheese dressing. The burgers were a five ounce pattie on bakery bun with pungent aeoli and horseradish, an excellent combination. Service was great. Parking plentiful. Restrooms were very clean. Kitchen 1883 is owned/run by Kroger at two of their cincy area locations. Highly recommend! read more
